This is the "Prometeus school of little space explorer" all over again.
They have the technology, they have the know-how, but for some reason they put the worst possible people in charge of the most important mission of human history.
It's like NASA put highschoolers inside Apollo 11.
Why writers can't write a good sci-fi show without making people complete incompetents?
I miss SG1
Very disappointed so far. Seems like they just threw a bunch of ideas at the wall hoping something stuck. Four episodes in and didn't care to finish
Blimey, I went in with already low expectations, but "The Rings of Power" falls short of even those & is a train wreck.
It will take an entire day to point out all of the flaws in this abomination. I'm done.
Bezos & Amazon squandered a billion dollars on this mess.
I usually find UK humour is good, US humour is good, but remakes are pretty much guaranteed to disappoint. After watching S1-3 of UK Ghosts, and Eps 1-6 of US Ghosts in the past few weeks I've got to say well done to the US team. If I didn't know which was the original, I would have credited the UK version with being the poor copy. You win this time USA.
As someone who has read the books multiple times and I will always give movie/TV shows a lot of leeway I couldn't continue watching this after the 2nd episode. I typically give a show 3 episodes to engage me, but after killing a ROCK troll with a CROSSBOW bolt it was just too much. You cannot have The Watch without Detritus. Detritus was the only character they got (sorta) right in the episodes I watched, everything was too jarringly different and made it difficult for a fan to enjoy.
Intriguing world and premise, but the terrible pacing and uneven quality destroys a promising show.
Characters are fairly one dimensional, especially their introductions are lacking. The plot moves at the speed of a bullet train launched into space, which especially hurts the world building and character development. It also causes the themes to be hardly explored, and side plots to feel trivial. CGI and cinematography are a mixed bag, ranging from nice to terrible (especially the color filter is often hideous), The acting is ok in general, but dialogue can be uneven.
About halfway into the 1st season, the show stabilizes somewhat, but it never recovers from the problematic opening, making any investment in the characters and world shallow at best.
It is a waste because the world seems highly interesting, and I have to assume it deserves much better than this uninspired work.
am I the only one who thinks that this show has good music?
The 5-star Trakt description of "meh" is pretty accurate for this show. Nothing of great interest or to grip you. There is also the atrocious and annoying acting of Parker Posey as Dr. Smith, it's borderline the reason I'm struggling trying to complete the first season. I probably don't fall into the target audience though, seems aimed at a younger crowd. Guess I'll wait for more series similar to The Expanse when checking out this genre again. It's not as bad as the new Star Trek though, which is extremely poor in my opinion.
I think this is the best procedural of the 2010s. Spader is the show, he's just phenomenal and owns his role. The action is top notch, especially for network TV. Most of the stories of the week and villains feel special and unique, in fact, I think it's safe to say that the stories of the week are actually better than the larger story arcs. It's an amazing procedural because it does all the procedural things so well: great weekly stories, great weekly characters, and a very strong and likeable lead in Spader.
there's nothing worse than a science fiction show failing the science bit.
Do yourself a favor and stay the hell away from this shitshow. Trakt needs a rating below 1 for absolute crap like this.
I just re-watched this series, it's pretty good, much better than the new WOKE version.
I enjoyed S08E8. But, I have to admit I'm getting of the entertainment industry to afraid to ever portray China as the country trying to steel U.S. secrets. It's always Russia, Russia. Rant done... :-)
Gave up part way through episode 1. It's just unbelievably bad.
This sitcom would be so much better if they added jokes!
It's great show, I am Arabic guy and that not mean I am terrorism this bad point in this show all Arabic countries hate and fight terrorism. This point should be all American guys know it. All Arabic guys want peace with the other people.
Please let this show die, it's become a shadow of it's former self. I think even the actors know it, the performances have become so uninspired it's painful to watch.
Interesting "interview" with an insight in the life of Putin.
I find it odd though that no one told Stone how to use and work with an interpreter prior to all of these meetings, the way he does it is awful and annoys the shit out of me.
Some of the pieces were familiar to me, I saw a documentary before, that was the forbidden video.
I read the rest on the internet.
Now I can see it all in a series with a Dutch subtitle.
And everyone can understand it in their own language super.
I think everyone should be open to watching this series.
All experiences can be found on the internet.
It is worth a recommendation.
Enjoy watching.
Tomorrow I look at the new part :)
