I keep seeing references to "The Matrix" everywhere, in this episode more than ever, and that is not necessarily a bad thing.
I feel like every next episode is going to be just as nuts as this one! It seems to me that original Dolores did trascended and accomplish what Hale wanted for their kind…amazing episode again!
OMG! This season has been mind blowing!!! I didn’t see that coming for sure!
Man, this time I thought I was keeping perfect track of everything and had some theories lined up, surely they couldn't pull the rug from under us again... most of what I thought ended up being just dead wrong, I'm a fool, can't believe it haha. They pulled the "different timelines" trick of Season 1 mixed with the "fidelity time jump" trick of Season 2, and I definitely need to watch this one again.
So basically, everything we've seen with Caleb and Maeve (including the past stuff shown in this episode) happened in the few years following Season 3, but then they "died". Hale then dominates the world, and over two decades later, I guess there's only a faction of humans that remain, including Caleb's daughter, and that's when Bernard begins doing his stuff / Dolores begins realizing things are strange. The twist makes a lot of sense... knowing this, I'm super excited to see what the show becomes now.
What I'm most curious about is finding out exactly what Hale is doing, because it seems like the hosts aren't really aware of what went down and just "live life" normally in the world - so rather than just being a "human vs hosts" situation, at least it looks like Hale is also playing god even among the hosts, plus, humans are being made into hosts, such as Caleb. I wonder why, and also wonder if William is still being kept alive.
The biggest question though... was Stubbs just sitting down waiting for 30 years for Bernard to be back? lol
best episode of the season so far, everything happening is interesting
Sweetwater is iconic in every world. Ramin Djawadi's Bad Guy is brilliant, just like my favorite duo (Stubbs and Bernard). Maeve's powers still bothers me a bit, the way she can do everything with her telekinesis thing, but Ford really gave her the master acess to all of the Delos stuff. Looking foward to see more of the storyline. Westworld is really back on track.
Angela Sarafyan is a damn goddess. Glad Clementine is back just like Charlote. By the way we'll get double Tessa Thompson as Marvel's Thor Love and Thunder premieres this week! It looks like the plan is to build parks in the US and not in a island anymore. They left LA and hours later they arrived in Golden age park. Also, there's 249 hosts :scream:
I hope it's better than the third season. At least I liked this episode.
Episode needed more flash backs, perhaps 5 more.
Tessa Thompson teaming up with a mech, what more could you want from a television show honestly
This season is not Westworld definitely. It is becoming an other thing completely, an action dystopian cyberpunk. To be clear, I'm not complaining, I'm just noticing differences.

damn i love this show so much!
This episode says alot about the world we live in... this serie keeps me sharp and hooked.
Tessa Thompson absolutely crushed this episode. This season continues to be strong as an ox. Beautiful visuals and complex themes.
That shot of "Charlotte" and Delores spooning was so simple yet primal and protective. Just stunning. Love the direction on this show and having these great women play off each other so skillfully.
I have three main take aways from this episode:
William literally murdered his own daughter. Wow. I didn’t expect that at all but William might need to re-evaluate his...entire life.
What a wholesome Father’s Day experience!
"My pain was selfish, because it was never only mine. For everybody in this place, there was someone who mourned their loss. Even if they didn't know why." - Akecheta
Feels weird to call this episode, focusing on a host, the most humane Westworld yet, but yeah. The most singular focus for the first time ever does so well by it (even the one other strand turns out to tie in with the main story the whole time in the end), making this heartbreaking story so intimate and resonating. Maybe best performance of the season too. This season is a bit messy, reflecting both the ambition and events that don't hover under a unified mystery box atmosphere like in season 1 anymore. But it makes some standout, unique episodes, like "The Riddle of the Sphinx" and this one, possible.
And that was a gorgeous, haunting teaser for next week (wonder if they cut it that way to maintain the mood from this episode?)...
I would have laughed if the little girl said in the end : "I don't understand your language..."
I really wish the editors placed visual indicators so you know where the hell they are in the time line. It’s super annoying because half that time you’re going “...wait where in the timeline is this?” They made it unnecessarily complex for no freaking reason because they refuse to provide any sort of indicators.
Every episode of this season unfolds another element that makes it clear absolutely anything is going to be possible from now on - but somehow, it always feels so artful and story-driven. I love this show.
Is it just me, or is Dolores becoming more and more annoying with each episode?
Maeve, on the other hand, has my entire heart.
Lovin Bernard, MIB, and Maeve's storylines so far and really enjoying Shogun World. However Dolores's storyline has been pretty meh so far.
Bernard has to be making a control unit of Ford, right? I mean Ford's consciousness had been talking to the man in black through other hosts. Bernard had all the witnesses killed and we don't know exactly when it happened so Ford could of still been alive.
Also the mystery woman from last episode is William's daughter. Is she going to team up with her dad now or is she there to try and destroy the world that has consumed her father?
Lisa Joy did a great job on her first episode she directed. Next week it looks like Shogun World.
Oh my oh my oh my!! That was a very revealing episode that left me with goosebumps. Gotta watch this again. Freaking masterpiece!!
What a fucking masterpiece. The dialogue, the acting: outstanding, especially the MIB slow reveal. 30 minutes after the finale and I'm still speechless. Everything was brilliant. That smile the WIB had when he realized that the hosts were actually able to fight back was just perfect. No one has ever been so happy so get shot. But he has to survive. At least he found the meaning he was looking for.
And wtf, this whole time Ford has been on the side of the hosts? This has actually been the best part of the finale. It was a nice unpredicted twist. That's why he did all the things he did. He didn't want anyone to destroy his beautiful creatures. It wasn't that he didn't want the humans to feel sorry for the hosts, but the other way around. Holy mindfuck. That's why he kept on talking to Old Billy and that pianist. That's why they were all dressed up and not naked.
And I'm so glad that Maeve's arc is designed by Ford in order to get rid of his enemies. So Dolores and Maeve are the ones that are really conscious, or is Bernard too? I really like the fact that Maeve decides to stay and that Dolores shoots Ford because she freely decides to. However, what if everything is scripted and Maeve came back because, as Bernard said "once you reach the main..." (mainland?), she was scripted to?
I really hope Dolores didn't kill Ford, but a host version. That handshake between Ford and Bernard felt weird, and that zoom in, suspicious. Why if that robot being created in episode 7 was in fact Ford's replacement?
Felix's little existencial crisis was one of the funniest parts for me, ike, am I even real? Does existence really exist? and Armistice's first time with an automatic weapon. I didn't know I needed that. I think Sylvester is still waiting in that lab.
Now wait until 2018. I will freeze all motor functions now and bring myself back online for season 2. It is going to be insane: multiple parks, the hosts full on terminator, and the board dead. The hosts run the show now.
A round of applause for Westworld! Awesome finale. I loved it a fantastic episode.
I hope Ford faked his death with a Host version of himself.
Typical for HBO - You'll be so shocked at the end of the episode that you'll see your own speechless expression in the reflection of your monitor during the end credits.
