This is not as bad as some people claim it is. A fun little flick that doesn't reinvent the wheel but it it would be a lie to say that it didn't entertain me over it's pleasant 80 minutes. You can have a good time with it but probably forget about it in a few weeks but that's fine. Films like are needed from time to time.
I don't know why people are so harsh on this movie. It's a light, fun, quicky Sunday afternoon movie.
Maybe because of how unapologetically lesbian it is?
Decent actors, acting poorly, terrible dialogue, terrible sound track and audio effects, terrible stunts and visual effects. Must be embarrassing for David Rodriguez to screw up so badly. He should definitely look for a different line of work. I’m sure the actors and the crew hate him for adding such crap to their resumes. Some scenes are so bad they seem like spoofs. The inception folding city scapes are particularly hilarious. It starts off bad and gets worse and worse… I was very tempted to turn it off at minute 110 and I should have. The end is mind bogglingly pathetic. They actually have a final “twist” that would make you think there could be a sequel lol. How is this movie even possible… didn’t anyone read the script before agreeing to participate?
Any review you read saying it isn’t that bad is from people who don’t watch enough movies. Every minute is ripped, terribly, from better films. Bobby Rod saw a few too many Nolan movies and thinks he can compete by plagiarizing his work.
What the fuck was even the point of this movie
A beautifully shot and acted, piece of shit. I would rather die in the apocalypse than watch this again.
i was going through the first episode and realized that this thing looks very familiar. It is the same story of “Candy” watched and release not over a year ago. What the heck! Did they completely run out of ideas?
So unmark and remove from watchlist.
I'm not sure how I feel about this version of the candy montgomery story. I love me some elizabeth Olsen, but the last thing I need in my head is an image of Jesse Plemons in a sex scene.
Season 1 was amazing, hopefully this wasn't it.
Endings on cliffhangers suck :)
Are we sure this was from Netflix ? maybe they steal it from another streaming platform. Excellent show.
As a fan of Homeland, the Americans, Madam Secretary, etc., I was really excited about this show, and it truly met and surpassed my expectations! Of course, Keri Russell and Rufus Sewell are both incredible performers, with the repartee between their characters being delightful. And, the entire cast was really strong, with every character playing an intricate part in this political soap opera. There is intelligent writing, witty dialogue, and while not a perfect show, it is a strong contender in the political thriller genre.
And, with Season 2 being announced recently, I am excited to see what comes next for this story. No spoilers, but the ending is quite dramatic and sets up a nice build for the future.
This is, in my opinion, a very good political thriller with a brilliant cast. Loved this first season, can't wait for the next season.
The Diplomat is an absolute triumph of storytelling. Debora Cahn's brilliant political thriller incorporates the best elements of her most high-profile TV work to date, mixing the relentless pacing of Homeland, the complex relationship portrayals of Grey's Anatomy, and the resolutely smart dialogue & sky-high audience expectations of the Sorkin years of The West Wing. Throw that into a brew along with a flawless cast and you get a show that is nigh impossible to stop watching mid-binge.
Keri Russell's return to TV after her iconic run on The Americans does not disappoint. Here she portrays yet another strong, brilliant woman in a position of power but this time she's out of the shadows and on the most public of stages. She deftly shifts between a rigidly formal diplomatic persona and her foul-mouthed, cutthroat private life, sometimes in the space of a couple of sentences, yet her humanity shines through. She grapples with imposter syndrome as she's thrust into an unexpectedly high profile position, but never loses sight of her strengths. She knows that she can stand toe-to-toe with her legendary-in-diplomatic-circles husband. (In fact, she warns her new colleagues that she's the only one who can help them decode or resist his charms.)
Watching their sometimes partnership / sometimes rivalry unfold across the 8 episodes is mesmerizing as both she & Rufus Sewell mercilessly chew up every scene. They're both preternatural acting talents who are used to stealing the camera from other actors, and their slow circling of each other is like a dance with words. Sewell shines as the other Ambassador in their marriage who's grappling with a crumbling relationship that he wants to save, but doesn't seem to know whether it's because he loves his wife or if she offers him a new pathway to power.
The overarching mystery of the series blends seamlessly with the evolution of their relationship, with neither feeling forced or unrealistic. And the area where so many shows can falter - the supporting roles - is yet another where this one rises above expectations. All of the secondary players shine, with the only ding against the series being the underutilization of Jess Chanliau's Ronnie. But, then again, the hallmark of the series seems to be making sure that you always want to see more. Here's hoping that we get to see more of Ronnie in (a hoped-for) season 2.
Typical crapflix show made by bunch of first time film makers who asked ChatGPT to write, cast, film, edit, and produce the show.
OMG, what is this? Its another filler in Netflix catalog. Don't bother, unless you have time to kill and the grass on the lawn outside is growing to slow.
Just finished watching season 1. Highly recommend really good show
A true insult to the podcast. Does not deserve to share the same name of such an incredible story. Also lets not forget that they made Melody straight. Disgusting. If i could, my rating would be countless numbers below 0.
Sure everyone has their kinks and some people like to be dominated. Me? I’ve seen Venom, Venom: Let There Be Carnage and now Morbius all in the movie theater. So I know a thing or two about being a little, dirty submissive. Feed me more daddy Sony
Like when someone says, "Ugh, taste this," and you do but it's good.
I don't get all the hate for this film. Honestly, I don't. The story is a little weak, but visually and aurally Morbius is a non-stop river of images and sound. I enjoyed myself more than with many Marvel films (like Venom 1 & 2, and either Wasp Man) and if you don't have too many preconceptions, you will too.
The weakest Batman ever , boring and Pattison needs to go back to be a vampire
absolute garbage, had to turn subs on the audio was so incomprehensible, pretentious nonsense, I had to turn off when he was fumbling around for a USB port. Bring back Clooney
The comments here really are a fine example as to why Batman has the most toxic fanbase in existence.
I've just finished this movie and I seriously don't get the hype. It's a painfully slow three-hour movie. And I don't mean 'slow' as in 'the action takes a little while to get started', I mean 'slow' as in 'every single character moves and speaks unnaturally slowly'. I mean 'slow' as in 'perhaps my local cinema had an issue with their projectors and they had to show the movie at 0.5 speed'.
The Dark Knight movies were so much better. The second Batman held up a thumb attached to a thumb drive and said “thumb drive” I was absolutely done with this movie. The score and cinematography are good and all, but that’s about all this film has going for it. The best thing in this film is knowing that the Riddler canonically records vertically on his phone. The acting was subpar at best.
It was ssssooooo boring to watch and just wanted to walk out of the movie theaters
Lost all interest when Catwoman made a woke comment about white privilege. Wasn't good before that and turned it off after that comment. Don't waste your time, worst Batman movie to date...
Worst Batman movie ever. Those costumes were a joke(And so we're the actors). At least the Batmobile was cool.
This is a documentary about the current US society - full of superficial, ignorant narcissists. Luckily there is intelligent life outside of this country. Unfortunately the movie didn’t show this and that’s why it’s utterly depressing. Best documentary in years though!
Two :v: hour waste of time from my perspective.
