One of the most perfect television series you could ever see. To this day I have yet to witness a better series finale than the unpredictable, hugely satisfying conclusion this show offered.
I fucking love The Shield.
Seasons 9 and 10 have fucking ruined this show. I tried so hard to give it a chance but the "celebrity" guest stars with their novelty wearing off after 1 sketch, Aisha Tyler's fake laughing and lack of real comedic banter, the overuse of sketches that should be used sparingly.. it's just a shit-fest of depressing proportions.
I thought they'd improve in season 10, I stayed watching to see if they did, they didn't. I genuinely fucking hate what The CW has done to this show. They can't handle any show past 5 seasons without shitting all over it. Fuck 'em.
Seasons 1 is brilliant. Chemistry, storyline, action.. all there. Season 2 & 3 are just generic dead guy of the week/who did it episodes.
Justified is some of the best, most original and witty television you will ever see.
Season 4, definitely their best season so far!
Very addicting, refreshing change from the usual paint-by-numbers police procedurals.
Wow. Those were some of the best 5 seasons of television I've ever seen. Was originally worried about the DirecTV change but nope, that season was great and the final season was even better.
Fantastic show, highly recommended and jesus christ I wish they'd release this all on blu ray..
In the words of TNT; "one of the best police dramas ever made".
This show is not quite a procedural, not quite a serial, so to end it the way they did was the best way they could have. Despite my reservations towards the bleeping, which really kills the immersion, I thought this was an all-round solid show. 5 season of gripping, gritty drama. Some really moving episodes, always keeping things original and fresh. Yep, this is certainly a 9/10.
Really gonna miss this show.
Too many big names involved in this show has kind of resulted in lots of mediocre people wanting to get involved too. The show has some really great points (the finale was definitely one of their best episodes) but it's also balanced out by plenty of poor points.
For example, there are some great writers who have written some of the better episodes while at the same time there are some laughably bad ones. Secondly, the character Charlie. She was poorly cast and can't act for shit which is a shame because by ignoring her parts the show's quality increases dramatically. The sudden fact that when they put her into the background of the show later in the season and the show became a lot better for most people.. is no coincidence. Casting a mediocre actor for a major role was a poor call on their part. If it was up to me though, they should have just scrapped the Charlie character all together.. although I may just be over-exaggerating due to the terrible writing for her character so far.
If you stick through to the end it's a great reward. I mean there are some great actors in this with interesting back stories (Tom, Bass, Rachel & Miles) and when the stories makes sense, they're done really well. With people like the director of Iron Man working on this there's plenty of talent, it's just that it's attracted some talentless people wanting a slice of the pie. Anyway, the finale was a great reward. Fantastic pay off. The show went back to the core story again and it's turned out to be pretty damn interesting. Also the great extras like being introduced to the Georgia Federation with their steam powered engines was brilliant as it showed that there are still wealthier countries who have made the most of the blackout. You can certainly tell when Eric Kripke's talent is showing (creator of Supernatural, worked on seasons 1-5).
There's plenty of shit episodes and boring characters but that's all balanced out by the amazing episodes and interesting characters played by some amazing actors. Not worth getting on Blu Ray/DVD but definitely worth watching. Especially considering what the finale left us with, looks like season 2 could be really great if they get rid of all the idiots who left their unwanted mark on season 1. Here's hoping.
Finally finished all 5 seasons. Absolutely loved it all. Loved Rudy, loved the last probation worker especially he was hilarious. Shame its finished, the final episode was a bit weird but worked out in the end. Hard to end a show like this anyways but they did it justice.
Gonna miss Misfits. Highly recommended for anyone who hasn't seen it. 5 seasons was just the right amount. Nothing else like it.
F*cking love the Swede, definitely my favourite character
A very nice alternative to Justified for those who love the modern day western crime drama. Quality increases ten fold come season 2 which was a nice surprise. Very much looking forward to season 3.
Some episodes and scenes can get pretty damn boring but overall it's a decent show. Wouldn't say its 2013's best though..
After just watching the season 2 finale (now series finale I guess..) I've realized that the silver lining of this cancellation is that episode 2x13 works out as fantastic and wholly satisfying series finale. Which was as much of a surprise as this bitter cancellation on FX's behalf.
I'll fucking miss this show. Real, genuine quality. Didn't deserve to be cancelled but Jim Jefferies and co made the most of their two seasons and that'll keep me happy for now.
They move this to FXX than give it the axe? It can't have been that expensive, it would have been a real gem to have on the FXX roster. I seriously don't understand the reasoning behind the cut.
Great show either way, genuinely gonna miss it. Especially after a fantastic second season. I thought FX was better than to follow NBC's trigger finger but alas everyone succumbs eventually. Just, fuck.
Great show. Refreshing, funny and has heart.
Binged through all aired episodes (currently 11) and I can safely say really love this show. It has genuine creepy/horror elements which is so rare in TV shows, I love it. Add to that an amazing cast, especially the actor playing Hannibal who shows real character, along with the original story lines.. the cinematics.. it just ticks all the boxes for me.
Can't wait for the next 2 episodes, this has been a big surprise for me. Never expected the show to be this good.
This was a lot better than I expected it to be, was kinda waiting for a season 2 confirmation before checking this out. Glad I did, got to binge through the whole first season and it was great. The intro credits are short and sweet with a really awesome music track, love it. Would of been nice to see more of Jay Karnes and Clayne Crawford though.
I'll definitely be back for season 2
After the Golden Globe wins I gave this show a shot and I can now totally see the appeal, great show. Loving it so far!
Fuck CBS. This is the only show that I watched from their channel and now they have nothing.
This is like a live-action graphic novel. Sure, the action is exaggerated and the nudity is at times gratuitous but that's part of the charm. And it works, really well.
The acting (especially from the likes of Ulrich Thomsen, The Wire's Frankie Faison and The Sopranos' Matt Servitto) is incredible as are the characters themselves. The storylines are engaging, genuinely edge-of-your-seat stuff. And the overall tone and cinematography of the show is breathtakingly refreshing and rich. Especially in season 2, with an episode featuring cinematography equivalent to the movie Drive. I love what it's achieved and where it's going. The attention to detail via unusual means is also a blast with the evolving title sequence including clues for what's to come and the post-credit scenes that add a touch more insight into the character's lives.
This is honestly one of my all-time favourite shows. Very much worth the watch and a well deserved 10/10.
Finally watched all of season 1, fuck me that was good. So many great new shows out this year. Banshee, Hannibal, Legit.. now this. Fantastic stuff.
One of the best shows I've ever seen, with the most intense pilot and finale episodes ever.
Slow start but season 2 really stepped it up. Fantastic show, Kelsey Grammar in a serious role is just so perfect I can't believe this was cancelled.
Just.. fantastic.
Great first season, goes completely against expectations and actually gets pretty intense towards the end.
3 episodes in, I love it. Fresh, interesting, and I now look forward to it every week.
It's like a Canadian Borat. This guy is genuinely hilarious
Stephen King, Dean Norris and the kid who played young Sammy in Supernatural. Count me in, son.
Glad to hear it's been renewed for a 10 episode second season. Amazing first season.
God damnit. Such a breathe of fresh air this show was. Not simply another tired cop procedural but a genuinely good show backed by the man himself, Shawn Ryan. Although I'm pissed this was cancelled it still worked out as a really decent mini-series which I'm thankful for.
