A very nice romantic comedy with believable character. But I assume that you must be at least in your late twenties to relate with the actors.
If you've not seen this before, and you like British indie comedy/drama films... Then look no further than 'Kinky Boots'
Set in the dreary town of Northampton, just a few miles up the road from where I was born and raised, and a place I have visited many hundreds of times, a place that I am very familiar with it's history in the shoe industry.... Comes a delightful and utterly charming film.
A story about a man who's never really seen himself taking over the family shoe business, but feels a responsibility to after the sudden death of his father. He finds that the business is in trouble and he's only got weeks to find a solution before it goes out of business for good.
I won't spoil the plot for you, but the acting is great all round, the characters have a real charm and depth about them. The script/writing is excellent and the lead characters larger than life. The star of the film is undoubtedly Chiwetel Eijofor, in one of the breakout roles for him as an actor. He plays the vivacious Lola to perfection.
Seriously good fun, it makes you laugh, it makes you think, it may even bring a tear to your eye.
A well deserved 9/10
If you stop and think about it for a second the alien prison storyline is the most heartbreaking thing ever, seven decades and they were so close to their family and they never knew, also lets use this as a reminder that people leaving their home in search of a safer life don’t belong in cages!!!
Well, this was the final nail in the coffin for me: I despise Lord Grantham with all my being.
Cora is absolutely right; Sybil is dead because him and Sir Philip were too arrogant to admit that Doctor Clarkson knew better. Their dominant stubbornness killed Sybil. Robert killed his own goddamn daughter because he refused to listen to the doctor, all so he wouldn’t offend Sir Philip. And all because he didn’t want to listen to any medical explanations as he thought it was “vulgar” to discuss the female body.
And when she died? He didn’t even shed a tear. He didn’t even really seem to care. He’s a horridly selfish and utterly disgusting person. I can’t believe I used to love him in the first season, because he’s been a prideful, narcissistic, sexist, selfish pig for a while now. But this final act of him causing Sybil’s death really killed just any love I might have still had for him. I’m just done with him.
This is where I finally bow out. I don't mind suspending disbelief but they've become really lazy and are taking liberties now.
Angel: "What's going on? -- Were you in Virginia?"
Wesley: "That's beside the point."
Blink and you'll miss it.
I really liked this episode. In which Angel does not have to sing. In which Wesley gets to play bodyguard to the Sonicare Tooth Fairy's hot redheaded daughter. In which Wesley has sex with said daughter. Both Buffy and Angel seem to be getting a lot hornier right now, and it's not a bad thing, since it's actually pretty hot... as long as it's not Buffy and Reilly . Boreanaz and Julie Benz have great onscreen chemistry, though, and so did Alexis and guest star Brigid Brannagh. Oh, snap, she's in four episodes. Nice.
7.5 imposters out of 10
I don't know why but a like it. Had some funny moments.
Max and Rosa are right, all season long Liz has been so stressed out and acting like everybody’s mom. And did anyone notice that Rosa is walking around town and the cafe like it’s nothing??? Pretending to be cousin Rosalinda and not even bothering with a new look or anything.
I’m so disappointed cause I thought the abductions were something alien related but it turns out it was all Helena and Flint, imagine having an alien show just for your great villain to be the mad latina woman who can’t get over her former lover.
Nah, I’m sorry, but Branson is literally such a major red flag. He’s incredibly pushy and self-assured; his pursuit of Sybil hasn’t in the least bit been romantic or gentle. He’s basically just said “you’re in love with me” and called it a day. Nothing in Sybil’s actions should have let him to make such bold statements, but he did so anyway, and he’s gaslighting her into agreeing with him.
But honestly? What has he really done that’s been so great that she should leave her family, friends and life for him? He’s been pretty aggressive in the way he’s talked to her, he’s demeaned all of her hard work she’s done as a nurse, and he’s just been all-around unpleasant. I truly cannot stand him, actually. And Sybil certainly deserves much better…
Just because he’s from a low social class that doesn’t mean he’s suddenly a good person. If one of the nobles talked like he did, we’d all hate him! But now suddenly people love him? Just because he’s poor? I don’t get it.
I absolutely love Blackbeard (Ed) and Stede together. What a pair. This must be the best flipping pirate show on the planet :joy::joy::joy:
Blair's and Chuck's manipulation and abuse of their money is almost excusable, which they are definitely NOT , since they're at least aware of their excesses and privilege. Meanwhile, Serena van der Woodsen wants to be oppressed SO BAD! Dan is too good for her. I cannot believe Serena values what she acknowledges to be a high school relationship over, not only her mom's romantic life, but their home and family life! Although I do not understand why Lily's only options are either Dan or Bart (like can't you just stay blissfully single and sort your feelings out), I hate how Serena expects her mom, and consequently her whole family, and Dan to suffer and/or make sacrifices for her security only to deny "special treatment". G o s h !
Paul looks so much like Sam Claflin, and Toni like David Anders . Such a beautiful film about friendship and our relationship to material things.
Couldn't help but cry at the end. Truly amazing.
Uhhh it took awhile to get over the fact that adigail is not a good baby..... Ok she's alittle thicker...that's fine....but at points it was like she was scared to interact with him or kiss him.... And the dance was sooo akward..... I loved Nicole s. Part tho ...... And the ending where she was watching YYY
??
Refreshingly different. An unlikely pai of characters getting to all sorts of bother while solving major crimes. Well worth a second season.
It was pretty dull to be honest. It's not a long movie, although it sure felt like so.
Wow, this movie is great.
I would recommend this movie to everyone. Except people who only like movies like Transformers.
I WOULD BURN THE ENTIRE WORLD DOWN FIRST.
Why did you do that? Why? Just why?
(note: Sybill's my fav)
Even though I despise Thomas, I still want him to find the right person...
NOOOOOOO!!! I swear, if Robert is going to have an affair with this maid I will RIOT!:sob:
The absolute glow-up on The Swede
How dare Marcia Gay Harden spoil Starborn for me? I was so looking forward to watch Madonna on that movie.
good finale to the first season!
i have grown to like liz and isobel more. they have a lot of good qualities in them that i liked. max is an okay character but i personally just don't care for him that much. kyle turned out to be a better character than i thought. hope that in s 2 there will be more character development for kyle, maria and alex. nervously waiting for the love triangle to probably start rolling even more.
my character list for season 1:
amazing - michael
great - alex, kyle, liz
good - isobel, maria, jenna
meh - max, noah, rosa
trash - jesse manes
"The killer's next victim is a six-year-old girl," actully that's only revealed 10 min within the episode.. nice spoiler!!
The show writers are clearly very committed. It seems like they're trying to tick the box for every stereotype that's out there. Of course the mentally unstable woman is still trying to convince her cheating ex to come back to her, of course everyone with a foreign look or accent is a violent murderer who doesn't even blink when gutting children or dogs. But thank God there are still the righteous straight white knights who will get the world back in order. It's 2016, ffs.
This show could just as well be named "More men who hate women - featuring the least likeable cast ever". Besides... I have known since episode 2 or possibly 3 who the murderer was. Kept hoping for a twist but... nope. So I believe I will happily skip watching any more seasons. Ps. Using blackouts as a plot device seems rather lazy, and is annoying as hell.
The ending didn't quite satisfy, but other than that, this is a pretty decent film. Andrew Scott turns in an excellent performance too.
Tatiana Maslany is so underrated, what a brilliant actress.
