The biggest question for Episode 01: What was the boiling water for? They focused multiple times on it. Hahahahahahaha.
That was the craziest misdirection ever.
That was the most romantic, and longest, honeymoon TV scene I've ever seen.
I paused after it because I want to keep it in my mind forever. I'll go to work for now and continue watching later. ^_^
Oh my. The actress sure knows how to be that lovely and sweet girlfriend who is heads over heels on her guy.
Great acting. Perfect.
The topic of episode 02 is social anxiety and the ORIGINAL and medical meaning of “gaslighting”.
Again, like in episode 01, they explained both in a way that ordinary people would understand, dispelling misconceptions. The episode story was also done in a way to help the audience empathise with the characters and the people experiencing or have experienced (and now suffering) social anxiety and gaslighting. Not to mention, it makes us question ourselves that maybe, we are in denial and actually going through it as well.
Wow. I love that house of the FL. It gives a very peaceful ambiance. Very natural, wooden, not too much on modern stuff. A very good balance for our soul.
Definitely do not miss E07! Kim Hyeyoon is the Whenever Guest! We're going to see one more episode of “Im Sol”!!!!!!

The scenes with the lead during the festival were wasted. The play and the repeat of the play in the car, those were the best. I had to stop myself from crying, perfect BGM too.
I actually want to watch the play live. And I miss school festivals. :grinning:
Holy! That's the kind of presentation I want to attend; and stand on stage!
Great idea to whoever thought of that. I wonder when we are going to see it in real life?
Ooh, this show is really convincing me they're different from everyone else. For a TV series, they spent as much budget as needed just to produce the one of the best VR scenes in history.
Brilliant timing for that joke. =))
Had a fit of laughter at that moment before the two characters started laughing.
If there is one thing that I really, really, super, duper, admire with the FL, is that, she is strict with her rule that her current life is who she currently is.
I'm thinking nothing good comes out of telling people that s/he was their friend/lover/sibling/child/parent. A very valid reason. However, there is no fear in her that points to that.
Instead, it seems that she is keeping her past lives to herself, simply because she just wants to be who she currently is. Not the previous life, but the “now” life.
That is hard, especially in the rare cases wherein she is reincarnated too close to her previous life, like right now in her 19th life.
You obviously want to reconnect with the people you love in your previous life. But, you know deep inside that if you do, they wouldn't see you as you are now, rather, they will see you as your previous life. Which is… well… not you anymore, no matter how many emotions and good memories you might have had.
The FL is strict to the point that she ended up having hallucinations of reconnecting with her previous life mother and sister.
She only bent her own rule in her 19th life when she was a kid because of her dire situation. If she did not, she probably would've died again, or her 19th life ended up as her worst to date.
I don't think I will be able to hold myself the way s/he can if I were in her shoes. Knowing that much, I will not hold myself back to just performing as the “genius kid”, I will work my way around different aspects of society and use my knowledge to manipulate people, circumstances, and everything.
To the point that, in my next life, I already have a system to prove my next life, thus taking over the system I created with my next life. Eventually building my own empire. (For example, I'm the only one who knows 100 passwords.)
I wonder how long the FL can keep herself in check. I'm more interested in how she's going to handle her situation than any other part of the story.
Wow. What a very touching first episode.
I love his reply there, “I'm sad because I can play music, and they can't” instead of saying, “I'm sad because they can't hear (my) music”.
Huge difference in meaning, and speaks volume to the mindset of the character.
If you can still SKIP this episode, you better do. You've been warned!
Episode 15 ruined the entire series.
Sure, the series is a comedy. But this episode? You'll laugh not because the script and story are funny, you'll laugh because of all the silliness in this episode, and you'll cringe too.
They were overacting. It was all shouting and running. Nothing about this episode moved the story forward or added anything to it. They even had the silliest and cringiest (is that even a word?) hostage taking ever. It did leave a lasting impact, epic disappointment.
Endings are important too. The final two episodes can make or break an entire series (or season). The show was doing good. I love where it is going. But episode 15 happened and ruined everything.
As of this post, I just finished S01E01. There is still hope to see at least a single bug.
If I don't see one, I'm going to give it a 1 rating for failing to add a very funny easter egg for fans of the franchise. I mean, come on, can you call it Fallout without a single bug? :p
Well, I did say I'll give them a free 10 stars if I see at least one easter egg related to bugs, and 1 star if none.
I didn't see any so 1 star for Season 1.
Now, before you cry about it, I rated each episode fairly.

I didn't see any so 1 star for Season 1. If they add one in Season 2, then they'll get a free 10 stars for it.
Come on. It's not Fallout if there are no bugs. I can think a lot of ways to insert those easter eggs without affecting the plot. You can even make some scenes and dialogues funny while at it
Now, before you cry about it, I rated each episode fairly.
The ending killed the episode.
It was going very well for a full 10 stars until the last few scenes where she made a call knowing full well it can be traced back to her. There are a hudred ways to lead the "bad guys" to her without making her the dumbest experienced detective in the world.
Prime example of:
1. Useless English title.
2. Wrong marketing message.
The original Japanese and Korean titles are MORE ACCURATE. The English title «Goodbye Earth» sets the wrong expectations, which leads to disappointment from the audiences.
Secondly, they marketed it as sci-fi and apocalyptic when it has nothing to do with those other than as a literary device to set the stage for the story. It is a life and social story, nothing sci-fi, nothing “let's try to save the Earth and show world unity”.
They should've simply translated the original Japanese and Korean titles, which are the same. Whoever thought that it is appropriate to give it a different English title, did not even bother to watch the series or check the original source material.
Wrong marketing + Wrong title = setting the wrong expectations = massive disappointment for many.
Such a waste.
The popularity of the actors here are not enough to save this movie. ^_^
That was it for the season finale? Complete-let down and underwhelming. Even if it was an adaptation, the fact that it is, it still has to be transformed fitting of the medium.
Episodes 1 to 8 were all superb. Then episode 9. Didn't do justice to Season 1 when it was going strong.
This is the only show that I am so happy the false suspect was eaten alive. He deserves it. He thinks so highly of himself, ignoring the help he is being offerred. Ignoring the advises he's given. He wants to do everything on his own, oh, he is 25 years old too and there were no hints whatsoever he is psychologically unstable. No, he has full control of himself, he's just an a**, even if he's innocent, he deserves it.
The story has potential but the production seems to be lacking in budget and time. Also, they need to get an experienced English translator for their embedded translation or just include one and leave it to their partner streaming sites to do the English translation for them.
I hope the sequel, if there ever will be one, will have the budget and time to allow the writer and director to tell the story. A good story shouldn't be wasted like this. Make it count.
Last but not the least, the robots does not have to be "stiff". What they lack are emotions not oil. They came from a very advance universe. The virus may have had removed their emotions but it did not made their motor movements like a robot prototype of the 1900s. Make them relax. I mean, look at that female robot host to the virus, not once did she act stiff. Why are the other robots stiff? They don't need to be. Even the fighting scenes of the robots, it was like watching someone do the robot dance.
I hope this improves in the sequel.
This season finale is anticlimactic lols. Also, what was with the sudden back-out from Earth-Prime? They even changed the look of John Diggle to complete this.
Though from what I've read in one interview of showrunner Todd Helbing, they've always known this is how it will be since they started Season 1 because of the changes in the other shows related to the wider Arrowverse, and originally S&L was to be part of Earth-Prime. But wow, why did they have to wait for Season 2 finale to reveal this.
I don't know about other people but it affected the entire show negatively on my end. I prefer to have known it in Season 1 than to have been toyed around only to be left very dissatisfied in the end. From where I stand, this was a very bad decision.
Right now, you'll have to convince me why I should watch Season 3.
That was it? The ending was lacklustre. The entire season was subpar compared to S1 and S2. What happened? S3 plot was a missed potential. S3 was everywhere and nowhere. It would've been better if the new plot was extended to S4, just like how the original plot was for S1 and S2.
S3 felt like a series finale, just a way to close the S2 ending. Leaving the S2 ending as is would have been better in this case, open endings are not bad at all. It could've sparked fan fiction works, and if you're keeping your adaptation of "War of the Worlds" open for shared world, leaving the series on S2 can invite shared world /parallel fiction in the tradition of the original War of the Worlds.
Two possible ways to end the series: (1) open ending, leaving it at Season 2; or (2) the new plot covering S3 and S4. Why did you not choose from those two better options?
If you still plan on making S4, I hope you retcon S3 since time travel is a thing in your adaptation any way.
Universe/World: I like the concept. If this was a novel, it could span 10 YA (Young Adult) novels easily. The adventure in this universe/world can be limitless, and the world can be fleshed out properly.
Speaking of fleshing out, episode 1 lacks a lot of that. It was as if this series is a sequel, or not standalone. That it expected the audience to already have knowledge of it.
But again, it's premier week. Still, for a show with only 8 episodes, they should be setting the universe early.
Acting: 5 out of 10 as of episode 1. The first episode gave me the feels that the talents are newbies. And I think they most of them are, at least after checking some of their past works listed here in MDL.
Directing/scenes: 6.5 out of 10. Needs more work. It seems like the show is being directed by a high school. They know what they want, but they are failing to capture the scene they have in mind.
Some weirdness in script: In the gym fight, the guy who went to the rescue of the FL acted as if he knows the real identity of the FL and have an idea on what's happening.
1. He was immediately on the offensive against the possessed student. No questions asked, just like that, he's flying for a punch.
2. When the FL summoned her weapon, and called his attention, he did not question why she's holding a weapon, and what she's about to do.
No ordinary student would act that way unless they too are a Phantom Hunter, or have knowledge of them.
If he is just an ordinary guy…
3. He never acted worried at all that the FL is “going to kill” their classmate, over for what? Defeating the bully?
Their classmate never did anything, as far as the gym scene is concerned, that would warrant getting stabbed by a spear. Yet, he just let the FL do it, no questions asked.
So, let's hope he is not an ordinary guy, and he does know something about what's going on. (After all, he did see the 7 orbs flying.)
So-so. There's potential, but it seems they were given a very low budget. They could've improved the script too, it was as if after so many edits, "this is fine, we're on a tight schedule". I can see where they want this to go, but they didn't deliver it well. It was lacking. It could've been better.
