I can't wait for this. I want to see this Western adaptation of the novel and compare it with the 2023 adaptation made by Tencent (China).

@youronlyone Mhm, it's Netflix. I wouldn't be surprised if they'll ruined it. We'll see.

@youronlyone well, I'm waiting for this one as well and will also be comparing with the Chinese one but its Netflix so I don't have my hopes high on this.
Also, its listed for just 8 episodes so that too is a point of concern for me.

So:
Was she still dreaming?
Did the past change?
Or, they showed us an alternate timeline wherein she made a different choice?
Explain your choice of answer. :)

@youronlyone She is still dreaming because despite her choice the Elder ghost would still haunt her and kill her endlessly

Glad to see tradTrek (traditional Trek) is back! I miss this format and style of Star Trek.
Nothing wrong with the other nuTrek, they're all great on their own, but as someone who grew up watching Star Trek, the style of TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY, and ENT, have grown on me. It's more about the issues we are facing today, in real life, as well as meaningful life realizations. Picard is like that but it is more about Jean-Luc. Discovery is like that but it is more about the conflict and the characters.
But tradTrek is different. The approach is to let the audience relate and think of the world around them.
Best of all, finally, we have a Captain Pike canon series! We seriously lack canon materials around Pike and his time with the Enterprise and it has been requested since the 90s. Finally! Let me say that again, FINALLY!

@youronlyone IMHO Discovery is not Star Trek, it's just a sci-fi show and a bad one at that. Awesome special effects, terrible acting and not a single "Starfleet value" to be found. Picard is an interesting deep dive into post-Enterprise Picard but it's very slow. I love the format of Strange New Worlds, back to the winning format that made Star Trek what so many of us know and love today.
Calling it a romance is almost misleading. I guess it is romantic to the right person.
Because honestly, this whole thing just seems like a pedophile fantasy. Feels pretty gross.
Oooh no it's all predestined. 28-42 year old me, who's already married to this girl is gonna time travel to the time and place where she is 7, I have no choice or control over it. Better get to the grooming so that I can fulfill the self fulfilling prophecy marriage. Because whatever I do I can't change it. Oh and every time I time travel I'm naked too sorry.
All the arguments I've heard defending it like "he doesn't have a choice" etc. Is right up there with the anime "1000 year old god in a 10 year old body" excuse.
I know it's adapted from the book. I haven't read it, and I don't know if they presented this whole thing as a romance or a tragedy( I guess that would improve things?) but as of now the only conclusion here is that all of it was a conscious choice. They could have made it at least relatively normal, instead of repeatedly having a grown naked man meet a child, who becomes increasingly horny for him with every interaction.

@funkybuff27 She doesn't become increasingly horny for him while she is a child, it is only when she becomes a teenager and that is because he is a good looking guy. You can't honestly claim that if the roles were reversed, we wouldn't see the same thing occur. Also, he never has sex with her when she is a child. The reason why he is drawn to her past is because his powers are most likely tied to his subconscious, which would think mostly about the people who are close to him.
Also, it's not the older version of him that is having a romance with the kid version of her, because they don't kiss and they don't have sex.
