@dgw if we assume one of her parents is Japanese and she speaks it at home and it's just never come up at work (as is for many bilingual POC), I don't see why it would be so surprising. Even if you're academically uneducated you can still be raised as a child by your parents to speak their 2 languages.

I realize that Nichole Bloom is part-Japanese, but is Cheyenne meant to be? It's literally never come up. Feels like we're supposed to be surprised that a character often referred to as "uneducated" speaks a second language.
