I just want to add that I hope D&D will never write again. They can produce whatever they want, but they are terrible writers.
Didn't go the way I expected. Since the dragon didn't eat Jon I thought for sure he'd be king. I can live with the way it all went down.
this is complete and utter garbage thanks for nothing d&d
I somehow caved and watched the episode and it was abysmal! It's worse than I thought it would be! I'm absolutely disgusted! Disgusted by how they victimized those diviant Lannisters! Disgusted by how they tried so hard in the last two episodes to show Dany as a tyrant! And then defend that storyline by saying it was foreshadowed. What a bunch of bullshit! All she tried her whole life was not to be like her father, she killed slaves masters and men who abused and enslaved women and children, she answered injustice with justice, protected those in need! That is literally what she was doing for 8 seasons! And let's not forget how she put north and Winterfell before her own needs and protected the people from the army of dead! So I don't buy this sudden insanity, it's just shitty writing. I would be fine with this if they portraited her as crazy from the start, but they didn't. And if killing evil men is foreshadowing insanity then they are all insane, Jon who killed those who betrayed him, Arya for killing and then cooking them in a pie (that's insane) while smiling like a psycho, etc. Dany never enjoyed killing anyone and she never harmed children. They butchered her character and used it as plot device for this shitty ending! And in the process they made me hate Jon for killing her... His story didn't make sense as well... He was so easily manipulated by Tyrion. And then there's Bran the king??? Are you kidding me? He is even more useless and inapt than Jon.. What was his goal anyway, just to get the crown cause he surely never did anything useful. No personality, no emotions and I think he could almost be a sociopath.. And that guy is in charge of 6 kingdoms?!? But he is a man so the future is bright now, right? I'm still pissed that they used "man will be a better ruler" line! And finaly we have Bronn who is now the master of coin, the guy who only cares about himself and brothels. I am disgusted! Utterly disgusted! Dany fought for nothing, the wheel keeps turning. I've never been so bitter about a show, but then again I've never cared this much about one or the characters. She will always be the most iconic character in television history. As for the show, I'll try to forget I've ever watched it.
I've got two more things to say:
Daenerys Stormborn of the House Targaryen, the First of Her Name, the Unburnt, Queen of the Andals and the First Men, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Breaker of Chains and Mother of Dragons is the true and rightful queen to the Iron throne! Dracarys!
ok that was the stupidest, most boring series finale ive ever seen. the only thing i liked was sansa and aryas endings, brienne writing about jaime and kinda the fact that bran became the new king. the rest really gave me NOTHING
I was not pleased with few episodes of this season. But I would be lying if I said that I didn't enjoy many scenes in this episode. I don't hate the events that happened in it unlike many. I loved many things as well as the soundtracks, the acting, the CGI, special visual effects, and all the works. They were good, in my opinion.
Jon Snow heads North, leaving his Targaryen identity, as Tormund Giantsbane once told him, "You've got the North in you, the real North." He gave our good boy a pat, finally. He went north of the wall, though, with the freefolk. Not much point of Castle Black anymore, and it was even barely manned, so it makes sense. The ending seemed just, to me.
But one thing I am disappointed at, is that we never knew what Tyrion did with the honeycomb and the jackass at the brothel.
Technically it was one of the best episodes, for me. I'm at peace with how things ended.
I really can't wait for the spin-off, by the way.
I also want to see another spin-off about Arya Stark's adventures. I'd pay good money for it.
I grew up watching this series. Thank you Game of Thrones. Easily one of my favourite TV series, if not the best one of them all. I will miss this series.
I will never say that I liked season 8, it was a complete mess. Considering the massacre of the people of kings landing it was obvious that Cersei will die in that process. Hopefully, Danny faced the consequences and had to die, John Snow did justice and saved thousands of people for Daenerys.
I gave this episode a rating of 8 just because of the fact that all those actors and the production team did a fabulous job in creating such a masterpiece for nearly over a decade. The writing was really poor this season and by the last episode, it was quite obvious and unfortunately, our prediction came true, which is shameful for such a series which was once well known for unpredictability.
I loved the ending, It did justice to all the character living or dead. Ser Jaime's story arc beautifully came to an end by his lover Brienne, Tyrion got what he deserved and Jon went with the wildlings; which in my opinion was a good choice he made after all he fought with them, he saved them from the white walkers and has earned their trust.
Game Of Thrones will always be my favourite despite the disappointment due to S08.
Lunch bag letdown. SO many possible endings yet what they came up with was probably the least interesting, least exciting , and most disappointing ending of a tv series that I have ever seen. Shame on the writers and producers for wasting our time.
1. It's nice warm summer in Kings Landing. ONE DAY later (S08E06) it's a frosty winter :D LOL Well I guess the GREAT WINTER came after all :D
2. Jon stabbed her in the belly and all of a sudden the knife is in her chest and it seems like two different knifes (maybe someone turned the knife around ^‿^
3. Also there were no foot prints in the snow AND the snow did not melt in front of the dragon when he was spitting fire.
4. Why would the dragon have an understanding of what a throne is, that it has never seen before?? IT's AN ANIMAL! HELLO!?
5. So the dragon is able to forgive Jon and Greyworm is not? Or does he? Unsullied and Dothraki just sailing of like nothing happened. Really?
6. Somehow Jamie & Cersei were underground +plus the roof caved in, so much that Tyron got light down there IN THE UNDERGROUND and somehow Jamie & Cersei were just covered by a few rocks???
7. Surprisingly the throne & the books survived the devastation of the castle, without a scratch or stones on it ^^
8. Where did the Danerys get that XXXXXXL flag from that is hanging over the castle ruin, bigger than a dragon?
9. "I can never be lord of Winterfell, I can never be lord of anything, I am the three-eyed raven." … - … "Why do you think I came all this way?" … Seriously????
AND did I get this straight??? At the end of season 7 the ice wall + the nights watch was completely and utterly destroyed and now the wall & the nights watch is there again??
I mean WTF were you thinking HBO???
Oh my gosh :see_no_evil:
Conclusion: 67 brilliant episodes, 6 bad episodes & 1 unsatisfying ending.
Boy oh boy. I'm speechless. This was so bad, on every level. The lack of caring for Daenerys and the way they treated her was despicable. The way they killed her also instead of looking part of the story felt like the writers are symbolically killing their story.
Big disappointment, what could have been, if they didn't rushed things up? Guess we'll never know...
the story is so bad. it almost looks like made by Netflix.
sorry people.. i am too sad to vote 10 this episode, still can't belive GOT is ended -_-
overall a good end..
I liked this ending, it feels like what G.R.R. Martin would've done, but I didn't like how they got there in the last season.
Emilia Clarke needed to know since her character set foot on Westeros about how this would end, so she can slowly make the transition.
Ignoring the other dumb decisions they've made in Season 8, this is still the best tv show I've ever watched.
this is not an easy episode that one can provide feedback on. when I take in to account that this particular episode is not the ending of season 8 but the ending of the entire series. I am happy that the story has ended and I that it has ended this way. I am happy that the producers, scriptwriters and all of those over at HBO that decided to give us a happy ending. we have not had a happy ending with Game of thrones for a very long time. I saw myself holding back by joy and excitement as I watched the episode fairing that at any moment something bad would happen.
I wondered if denarius would return as the new night queen and start the whole winter is coming all over again. however after giving it some thought I deeply appreciate how it all came together in the end.
not too many TV shows are able to bring closure to a story when there are so many subplots and storylines to follow. the producers of this episode masterfully brought what can arguably DC called one of the greatest TV shows ever to a complete ending.
this TV show made us laugh and it made us cry. it gave us hope and then it took it away. It allowed us to feel Joy, to embrace fears and more importantly it introduced us to a number of unforgettable characters. many of these characters did not make it to the end but we will continue to remember them as we think fondly of this show.
this is not a typical coming of age story, it was not a good vs evil story. but but rather Game of thrones over the past several years allowed us to find I ourselves. this story was a journey of self-discovery. in this story you not only watched the characters grow up and developed but we had the opportunity to grow with them. connected to these characters we did not just care about them but we grew to love them.
Game of Thrones is a TV show that will be missed in the hearts of many. I don't think anyone truly knows how much time and energy when into the creation I'm just TV show giving life to a story that has transcended cultural, social, political, spiritual, race and any are the boundary not just in Western Society but around the world. It is no doubt that anyone who watch this show from beginning to end good sayings the day has come as close to Perfection as anyone ever has before.
This episode is the best ending that anyone could hope for. in true Game of Thrones fashion I don't think anyone could predict it ended.
Thank you HBO and all of you who made this possible.
You know who TRULY won the Game of Thrones? Those who stopped watching after Sansa got raped.
Anyways, WATCH RIVERDALE
Bran: I can never be Lord of Winterfell, I can never be Lord of anything, I'm the Three-eyed Raven.
Also Bran: I'm the King.
At least they don’t have to build a new throne now that Bran is king.
So Game of Thrones is musical chairs and the guy who wins is the one who was sitting the whole time
What a wonderful ending to an 8 year journey. I am very pleased with it :D
Apart from the final stretch that led to the events of the previous episode, I wouldn't change a thing. It was the perfect ending to a great show - for me, one of the greatest.
It's sad to see it go but damn, it was worth every minute spent watching it as well as discussing it.
Hopefully at least one of the spin-offs will come to life a few years down the road and if they manage to capture even a glimpse of the feeling that this one had, it'll be pure nostalgia.
I’m stumped.
I thought I’d hate the season and the finale, just like almost everyone is doing, but I thought it was perfect. Incredible last episode.
The end sequence, when Jon comes to a certain realisation, is something I unexpectedly smiled at. I loved it.
I don’t understand how the “writing was crappy”, as folks are saying; because it was magnificent. This is what the entire series was made for: an unexpected turn, just as GRRM wanted.
How can anyone say character development was lost when it was everything?!
I hope the spin-off shows us Arya’s adventures in the West!
1 point for the Queen in the North
It was a good episode.I don't know why but I shed a tear during Drogon reacting to Danny's death. If they had gone with 10 Episodes it would have been much better at pacing.
It was a awesome journey. Like ending of every other major show people are complaining. Yeah there are genuine reasons too but it wasn't so bad(like dexter bad).
And now our watch has ended
.
.
It's done, we have a new King and Queen.
(I'm not so happy about it, but that's what we have.)
This is the end of an era, so much memories...
Thanks for everything!
Jon snow reunited with ghost! Can't think of a better way of ending this show..
This ending couldn’t have been more perfect. So emotional, so well prepared and so so beautifully shot. The Iron Throne got us the answers we needed to close this series and more. I’m sure George is incredibly proud. When the big moment came for my all time favorite character and role model, I wasn’t even in shock or sad, because it’s that good and well written. The moment that truly got me though is when Drogon picked up his mother and flew away. Yeah, there were tears, there was laughter and indeed, the ending is bittersweet. I couldn’t be more grateful to have had this show in my life, and I will never stop rewatching this. Me nem nesa.
So at last we reached the end of this epic tale of ice and fire. I must say I did like the ending even though it wasn't perfect. Sure the whole season was way to short and rushed but overall they did a good job bringing it to the end. We all knew that GoT never would get its fairy tale ending but that it would be bittersweet and that it definitely was. Anyways the series finale was good and got one of the best CGI the show ever did. I could watch Drogon scenes the whole day.
Fact is I'm very sad this show is over and I guess it won't be that soon that another show of this caliber will come around.
After last week i was so done with GoT that i couldn't really care how it ended. But I am happy i started the final watch. Every bit of how much i hated last week episode is every bit i love this week and the series finale. Of course you can't make everyone happy but i'm pleased with how they ended things. And we finally got the well deserved cuddle of Jon and Ghost!
(Not so) Eagerly waiting for West of Westeros: The Spin-off.
Fingers crossed for a great ending...
I am incredibly grateful to Game of Thrones for this adventure I have found myself sucked into for some years now. I am grateful for all the emotions it brought me since day one, bitter and sweet alike. I am grateful for all the laughs, all the tears, all the jokes and gags, every single bit of it, I really am grateful and appreciative of it all. It's been just... wonderful.
That said, I am feeling robbed and betrayed right about now. This ending is arguably one of the worst series finales in the history of television and trust me I realize how bold of a statement that is. The terrible violations the characters have suffered this season, the lack of proper resolution to many of the plots and narratives developed over seasons worth of buildup, the seeking of shock value at the expense of quality writing... that and much much more solidified this as an absolute disappointment of a finale, as opposed to the marvel wrap it could've given this cultural phenomenon.
This episode does have its positives, as always the score, acting and cinematography are perfectly performed but I just do not think it's nearly enough to compensate for how lackluster the writing has been, as much as I wish they did. Oh well, sad as it may be, I'll just hold on to the good stuff and hope that GRRM's book, once finished, will tackle the ending in a more coherent, more respectful and more meaningful way. It's been real y'all...
P.S: I'll leave this here lest some people jump me again. This comment is a representation of my own personal opinion, I am entitled to one just as all of you are. If you enjoyed this season and felt this finale delivered what you were looking for then more power to you mate, but that doesn't nullify my opinion nor does it make yours any valid. If you want to discuss or challenge my views, I'd be more than happy to engage you on that basis but if all you have to offer are petty remarks then please keep them to yourself.
"iF yOu ThInK tHiS hAs A hApPy eNDinG, yOu hAvEn'T beEN pAyInG aTteNtIOn"
Literally everyone except Daenerys got a happy clean ending.
This episode and this season as a whole have been a complete and utter disaster. the decline of storytelling quality from the last seasons is shocking. The show is barely recognizable at this point.
A character who wasn't a contender for the throne ended up on it even though they have done absolutely nothing this whole season, had lots of potential to make for a very interesting role but was ignored and swept aside then suddenly elected king.
Daenerys's character being completely butchered as she was turned from someone who never showed the slightest disregard to innocents' safety to someone who commits mass genocide and shows no remorse afterwards, all in the span of 2 episodes.
So many character arcs were neglected or wrapped up poorly. Jon being reduced to a secondary character with a combination of three sentences of dialogue, Jaime's development being thrown out the window, Cersei barely doing anything and then getting killed by bricks, Tyrion, the master tactician, turning to a gossiping idiot then getting promoted after he quits his job (seriously?)
So many plot points were discarded or turned out insignificant. Azor Ahai, Jon's lineage, The Lord of Light, Cersei's prophecy...etc
The whole White Walkers storyline being eliminated in one episode, then the whole Iron Throne storyline being eliminated as well in the end (FFS)
So much shit not making the slightest bit of sense. Dany's army multiplying, Arya's impenetrable plot armor, The North getting the independence while the Iron Islands didn't when they were the first ones to demand it, Drogon not killing Jon after he killed Daenerys, hell, the Dothraki and the Unsullied not killing Jon after he killed Daenerys, The point of the Night's Watch now that the WW are gone. Tyrion being in chains and holding up a presidential vote over who would run the 6 republics. HBO c'mon man.
Overall the pacing was too fast and inconsistent, the ending was rushed, anti-climactic and nonsensical. This couldn't have ended in a worse way. Kudos to D&D!
YOU get a kingdom! YOU get a kingdom! And YOU get a kingdom!
What a great ending for the entire show! Love the ending which Danni got. It had to be done, couldn't have been done otherwise. Poetic!
Booooooooooooo! Booooooo! throws vegetables at TV and hissing in Peasantry
Worst season ever... this will make Lost final look a masterclass
And sadly this great tv show has come to an end
It seems like you either hated or loved this series finale. I thought it was just... okay?! Am I allowed to say it was okay?
This may have been the most boring tv episode I have ever watched. This season was like, ok, we don't want to do this show anymore lets wrap it up as quick as possible, but the last episode lets just have everyone sit around and talk.
Lol this was terrible and makes the show not fit for a re-watch
This season has been so stupid and self-indulgent thank god it's finally over.
Laughably poor ending. Incredibly disappointing ending to an otherwise great show.
That ending was so disappointing, I cannot even describe with words the letdown. I'm just happy is over, and we got at least closure. Time to move on to other shows, and forget this season ever happen.
Finally dumb&dumbers "how to ruin Martins great work" ended.
Ruined the show with this final season.
what the fuck happened to dothraki lol
This is the worst shit I've ever seen. And, boy, I've seen loads of shitty tv!
Of all the possible endings they chose the lamest one.
Please GRRM, if you ever get to finishing the books please do better.
Such an anticlimactic and disappointing ending
I CANNOT BELIEVE SAM SURVIVED THE SERIES. I have been scared for him every minute of every episode of every season. Ah, my beloved. You living happily ever after is the best gift this show has given me. Farewell, Samwell Tarly. The best, the greatest, consistently most honorable, most kind, and most brave character in the show. I will miss you so much. :frowning2:
Anyways. It ended how I’ve always said it should end. The Iron Throne destroyed because no one was really worthy of it. The twist of Bran as King was something I hadn’t thought of but appreciate greatly. Not the best season, but a good and satisfying finale.
I have no words, such and huge treason for a great history, I feel so saddened :disappointed:
They really did it. They came up with an ending that is actually worse than Dexter’s. Congratulations, what an achievement!
I'm so happy it's over. I don't ever wanna come back to this show. Biggest disappointment of my entire life. Goodbye forever.
Such an unsatisfying episode. Except for the fact the I was right on the money with my last review! The throne did turn into a metal puddle! I mentally patted myself on the back during that scene, not gonna lie. And the new King comes with his own built-in throne (kind of). So convenient! Bran The Bored. Long may he reign, I guess.
Otherwise, though, I'm so very disappointed. This is what eight seasons and hours upon hours of watching have lead to? What a let down.
In the end, the only character who had somewhat of a cool overall story was Sansa. Everyone else's got ruined.
Arya trained herself silly, saved basically all of humanity and civilization as we know it by defeating the Night King, and in the end merrily sailed off to the literal ends of the world. She was never an explorer. She was the warrior, the fighter. The defender. The ending they gave her makes absolutely no sense. I hope to all the Gods (new, old, fire, water, air, whatever) they don't decide to make a spin off out of it. I REPEAT. HBO DO NOT MAKE AN "ARYA THE EXPLORER" SPIN OFF!
Jon being a Targaryen/Stark only to end up an exiled pariah again. He could just as easily have fallen in love with and betrayed Daenerys without all that backstory. So why even introduce it if in the end it'll lead to nowhere. Such a waste.
Bringing Gendry back. Utterly pointless.
Doing things, introducing information, and then have them lead nowhere is crappy storytelling. Just plain bad writing.
I expected so much more.
:face_with_symbols_over_mouth: the episode kept going on and on until it was just a joke
it's over... for good or bad, but all the good moments this show brought me will be unforgettables
spend 7 seasons building up characters to dump them in the toilet in a botched 8th season. Pure garbage. I can imagine the writers in a room trying to figure out how to do the complete opposite of what people expect instead of a logical conclusion.
Garbage of a season, garbage of an ending.
Although it wasn’t amazing, this ending wasn’t bad. I don’t get why anyone is saying it’s the worst ending ever or that it betrayed Game of Thrones. That’s nonsense. It’s true that this season and season 7 were far worse in terms of writing than the previous 6 seasons, and the arc with Daenerys going bad was most definitely rushed. But all of the characters had their stories wrapped up, there’s nothing that I can really think of that wasn’t resolved. Jon killing Daenery’s was something I thought was obviously going to happen ever since Jon’s true parentage was revealed. Nothing surprising about that in my opinion, and Daenerys going and was foreshadowed over and over again in earlier seasons. The only real issue with how it all played out was in that Daenerys’ arc was super rushed and felt as though it just suddenly came out of nowhere. Yes, they had foreshadowed, but it was as if they just flipped a switch and made her go from a 3 to a 10 on the madness scale, whereas in previous seasons she had only ever gotten to a 3.
As a final season, it was disappointing, yes. But I didn’t find it at all surprising, and that’s perhaps the worst thing about it. Previous seasons were always surprising. The only thing surprising about this season to me was that Bran ended up king. I didn’t expect that.
Well, there's a lot to take in here. After eight seasons, one of the greatest TV shows of all time comes to an end with a satisfying and emotional finale. In an episode that (I think) didn't contain a single swear word, sex scene or moment of strong on-screen violence we got something completely character focused that provided closure for just about everyone.
It's a bittersweet ending and one that I really need to spend some time with. In a season that felt very rushed and like it was doing a disservice to characters, this was a slow paced and meditative reflection on where these people had come to and where they needed to go next. Some of the choices made may feel peculiar or unearned, but I couldn't help but feel like it was the right send off.
Striking this show off my "to watch" lists after so many years does feel like it's going to leave a significant hole. This show meant a lot to me as I read the books many years before and used to dream about what a TV adaptation would be like. I even had the pleasure of meeting George R.R. Martin when A Feast for Crows was released and there were only a dozen or so people waiting to get their books signed. I'm very much looking forward to seeing how the story goes in the next books (one day!), as the show diverged from them so much that I can't see things finishing up in quite the same manner.
As many others have said, this ending is strong but the problem is the confusing mess that was how we got here.
Although this season we a huge let down, but they did manage to give it an actually decent ending.
It was technically amazing and all the actors did a fantastic job.
and the scene betwee Jon and Tyrion was amazing
They actually did manage to give us something "bittersweet"
This episode was good, Not Great .. just good.
I wish there were negative numbers for rating this episode. There's disappointment, disbelief, then unadulterated anger at the writers for ending this great show with such a heaping pile of dog sh*t. I hope to God that GRRM completes the series so I can see the actual way we get to the true ending.
I like how Arya trained to become an assassin for two seasons, had the prophecy of killing someone with brown eyes, blue eyes and green eyes, then decided not to kill green-eyed Cersei because of one sentence said by the Hound and wasn't much interested in killing green-eyed Daenerys only to become Dora the Explorer in the end. How satisfying.
What a way to kill a series like that. As a book reader I will be waiting for TWoW, well, being waiting for 6 years by now.
A couple of touching scenes but the rest... TO THE TOILET Y'ALL.
Please, never ever make a TV show about a series of books that isn't finished yet.
I feel extremely disappointed...
Well that was dissappointing :(
I truly can imagine how the writes sat together and said: "Hey, we have another 1.5h left to fill, how can we make this as boring as possible¿ We don't want fans to crave for another episode."
I hate Bran's blank expression after he became the three-eyed raven. And I hate those generic responses that he gives to everything everyone says to him. "You were exactly where you were supposed to be." "You did exactly what you had to do." I find it very frustrating that he implies that he knew everything that was going to happen, and yet he allowed it. In fact, I think I'm more frustrated that he was chosen king. Not because I really have something against the character, because in general I like him - and I confess that seeing the Starks turning around like that warms my heart - but because it sounds SO random.
I have my reservations for this final episode. I don't just see defects. It's technically flawless. As for the creative decisions regarding the fate of the characters, the biggest problem is what I mentioned in the last episode: lack of time to develop. Reducing the last two seasons, especially this one, was a shot in the foot. And I say this because many of the things that happened in those six final episodes were being rehearsed on the show from the beginning. I'm finishing this marathon now, it's the third time I've seen the entire series (the first after it was officially finished) and I managed to catch several signs, since the first season, that it would end like this. I think they even weighed their hand in some dialogues throughout the season, some of them were too expositive in an attempt to draw to the audience in a hurry something that was subtly shown in the previous ones.
Anyway, Daenerys' death will always be too painful for me. Drogon's roar always shivers me. It was too unfair. She deserved more. She deserved better.
I finish the series satisfied. Game of Thrones was never conventional and that ending escaped that, too. As I mentioned two years ago, it was bittersweet. Could it be bigger and more epic? No doubt. But even with the stumbles, it doesn't erase the grandeur of this story and all the achievements of the past seasons. I know it won't be long before I revisit these characters. For now and again, my watch is ended.
meh meh meh meh meh
Thank god this is over now... The only parts that were actually good was Jon's interaction with Ghost and Sansa becoming the Queen of The North.
For years I have been listening to people say how bad the series finale of GoT is, and just now, as I finish the very last episode, a few years after the show ended, I guarentee you, it is THAT BAD. I loved the show, and that's why I get so frustated, it's not fair, I feel robbed. I do like some parts of it, but generally speaking, this is one of the worst series finales I ever watched.
I still don't know if I liked it or not. I just finished it, this time the whole series in a row, and still don't know what I expected. I don't even know which number to choose to evaluate this episode. I guess the season was too fast and they did not develop everything correctly but the ending may be good. I don't know. I think I need to watch it again... and again... and again.
meh. Jon made the most difficult of decisions and yet he just got a below "okay" ending. The Starks are all separated, going their own ways.. I just feel like this series' ending was rushed, no time to absorb things that are happening.
It's not a perfect ending. But quoteing Bran: "Everything were excatly how they were supposed to be."
Bran, Kind of the mobile throne
when the song of ice and fire book came out - that was the moment this show jumped the shark. Unbelievable. It looked more like a joke scene to put on the dvd extras. I can’t believe the actors took it seriously and it was actually part of the show. One of many reasons this last episode was beyond terrible.
The only thing that's frustrating is that the series is over !!! As for the end itself if nothing else this series proved to be anything other than predictable !!!
Bran's Throne is mobile.
Taken in isolation where the final season is concerned, this was a solid finale. Once I set aside the rushed nature of some things in earlier episodes by pretending that this was episode ten of the season instead of episode six, I was able to appreciate most of it.
Having said that, there has never been a book or a TV show or a movie where every reader or viewer was happy with the way that everything ended, and that probably goes double or triple for adaptations. Where TV is concerned, I'm beginning to think that shows that are cancelled without warning are the lucky ones, at least for the writers. Sure, fans might be angry about a cliffhanger that goes unresolved because of Those Dang Suits At Corporate, but that seems to pale in comparison to the anger that gets vented when the writers choose to wrap things up in ways that some fans don't like.
The writers were in a hurry and wanted to finish it quickly!! The best series of history till now had the worst ending ever. Maybe they wanted to tell a message that power changes people and people will do differently when they take the power so do not get killed for making someone the governor. I think so but we hadn't watch this show to get a message!! Another season could complete this by writing a longer story, a bigger war between dead and alive, a better death for night king, better war between north and capital and so. However the show has been finished and talking do not make any changes. By the way 20/may is my birthday and GOT has been finished after 8 years exactly on my birthday.
I feel like this finale will be one of the most controversial on television. Some will say was perfect, others will say that butchered the story arcs.
I give it a 9 only by ignoring that the other seasons exist, because without them it was a really amazing and kinda fulfilling ending.
However, those seasons exist... Well, I'll be watching the prequels.
Disappointing ending... It feels as if they just tried to tie up loose ends quickly.
Let's just forget this ever happened. #LostAgain
Am I the only one who notice that Drogon was like "F@ck you! you stupid throne, look what happened to my mom because of you!". That was sad for me.
But, a silver lining is we finally got to see big ass Ghost get petted like the good boi he is. Shame it's the exact same CGI from season 6 pettin'... Well you can't have it all.
Thank you Game if Thrones for amazing 8 years of taking my mind to another realm while and after watching.
Thanks for the amazing cast we had the pleasure to discover, again and for the first time.
Thank you D&D (yes, we owe them too) for writing in such a way so it made someone in HBO believe in this magnificent world.
To all the production teams, directors, set builders, stunt and fight coordinators, make-up and costumes artists fire teams, SFX and CGI goda who manage to make words and fantasy a reality. It's been an absolute pleasure if mine.
Many thanks to the great Ramin Djawadi, who became a living legend. Each score made the onion ninjas knoking at my door every week, and when I didn't open because I was watching GoT, they came through the window.
*Finally, the man that if he was British the queen should have knighted him (10 times?), Mr. George Raymond Richard Martin, the man who came up with a song like everyone else and turn it to A Song of Ice and Fire *
Sir, your the real MVP.
This last episode is actually decent. This and the very first episode of the season are the only ones i like. Good pacing, good dialogues and emotions. I do not agree with the way they handled Dany but her last scene with Jon Snow was very emotional indeed. And both actors did a very good job on conveying their respective character’s expressions and emotions. Emilia Clarke really is an awesome Daenerys. I actually did not care for her character the first two season but they did a good job and developing her later on to become my favorite only to be dumped like this sigh /cry. Buuut good job to all actor and actresses as well as everyone involved in this TV series. Thanks for all the wonderful entertainment and memories you created and shared with us. Bye Daenerys Targeryn, the real :crown: :grinning:
The difference between the writing has been notorious. The directors D&D don't have the writing skill of GRRM and we can't expect the show to maintain the level that it used to be known for. This was not the hyped end we would have expected some years ago, but it isn't the worse this season has gave us, and they're clearly opening space for the future side series that are coming, and not really concluding this show.
I'm disappointed but I wasn't really expecting great things anymore. So lets see how Arya the explorer goes... And hope that GRRM creates a better story in the books (he'll certainly deliver).
I LIKE IT... an that's it, hope someone around here agrees with me
So… I guess that this is the "bittersweet" feeling George Martin was talking about. Man, I'm not quite sure how I feel right now. But I guess this finale will be (mostly) the real end. Many characters didn't get what they really deserved.
Holy hell, did Jon get shafted or what? Bran is horrible he seen everything and made himself King. Season 8 is horrible. Wow if I can count on anything with HBO they don't know how to make series finales.
I'm glad this is almost over
They did the God Emperor ending hahahahahahaha I was fucking right the entire time. Suck my omniscient cock. In case you are unfamiliar, there is a book series called "Dune" that George RR Martin is a huge fan of. In the later books the main character is Leto Atreides II and Bran's story very much mirrors his own. They're born into noble families, are forced to journey out at a very young age because of the politics around them, they both have a sort of transformation that happens to them that makes them lose their humanity but grants them certain power, etc. Long story short, he is essentially this omniscient being that ascends to being "God Emperor of Dune" and his main purpose is to teach the human race not to rely on political systems and higher echelons of society to determine their fate. Now put this into the context of Game of Thrones, both in the show and in the book the first true point where we see an injustice happen to protect the power structure is Bran being thrown out of the Window and crippled, then throughout the rest of the story we see this boy who should be dead become the most powerful living being in the world, capable of taking control of even other humans. Now to have this first victim of politicking to be the savior against those very schemes is hugely symbolic, especially because he can force people to do what he wants but chooses not to. As Tyrion says he has an incredible story (which may be referencing the fact George took much of it from another book) and his position essentially "Breaks the Wheel".
Now that I have that out of the way.
Pros
+The aftermath of the battle was AMAZINGLY shot, one of the best sequences in all of GOT if not THE best
+Tyrion and Jon's conversation was great
+Dany's final scene was amazing and I love that Drogon melted the throne as if saying "If she can't have it no one can" and simultaneously symbolizing the end for the rat race for who would claim it (although the way he took off with her body was a little weird)
+The meeting of the lords was well done for the most part, particularly with Tyrion's proposal
+ending sequence regarding the different paths of the remaining "Starks" where each seemed to perfectly fit all of them
+Brienne's entry into the Book of the Kingsguard regarding Jaime
Neutral
*I actually loved the pace of this last season but the assassination of Dany did happen REALLY fast. I'm not sure if that was a bad thing though. I think I just expected Jon to go along with her for a little bit longer
Cons
-Grey Worm was annoying. They could have done a better job with his writing
-Not gonna lie, I enjoyed a lot of the scenes but they could've been shorter and spent more time on the assassination of Dany and/or immediate implications of it whereas they chose to skip ahead a bit after that
Not gonna lie, I have had my ups and downs with the show. I have seen them leave out the most important scene in the entire book with the House of the Undying, I've seen Dany be a merciless power hungry bitch and have the fans cheer her and then her continue to do so and fans claim it's inconsistent writing, I've seen the poetic beauty of the Hold the Door scene and the hack job that somehow decided that Littlefinger marrying Sansa to Ramsay made any sense, but I must say... This season has saved the show. Them retroactively making Dany's idiotic writing make sense because it turns out she was fucking crazy, saved that character. Having Jon fulfill the Azhor Ahai prophecy by stabbing his lover through her heart and seeing Kit Harrington grow into the role and turn into a great actor after being very weak at the start was amazing. Seeing Arya finally put the assassin skills to the test with the Night King, Sansa becoming Queen of the North, Davos keeping everyone straight on the moral path, Tyrion becoming hand, the Cleganebowl, all of it.... It was unexpected how good this season was.
Worst episode in TV History. Cannot be redeemed in any way or shape. everything after Danny's speech is complete nonsense and undoes everything since the premier.
Tommy Wiseau could have done it better, surely. Bollocks.....
what a terrible way to end a a show...
And Now My Watch Is Ended!
Bran allowed Dany to burn down the city so they could rebuild it to be Westerosi with Disabilities Act compliant!
The only twinge I felt was for Brienne writing in the book (that survived a massive conflagration) for Jaime. The jokes weren't funny, the end was unsatisfying and nonsensical, and the plot was idiotic.
Why? No wonder Emilia Clarke gagged and Kit Harrington said he found it disappointing.
They had to choose Bran because they needed a King who has his own chair.
R.I.P. Iron Throne, you turned everyone to shit anyway.
The North won't kneel again... not even to Ned Stark's Trueborn son and a lifelong Northerner?
Shut the fuck up, Sansa!
The look of pure happiness when Jon hugged Ghost was everything.
I actually liked the ending. To me most characters went full circle and had a fitting ending. I understand that some people don't like it and I think that season 08 was rushed to much and not build up enough. But the actual ending felt good to me and fitting with the characters...
- Jon: Doesn't want to be king and has said this since s01 (he's just a bastard) and his (Ned) Stark level of honor has always been what defines him.
- Arya: Since s01 didn't want to be a lady and although I loved her love interest with Gendry I found it fitting for her to leave.
- Bran: Sees and knows all as the 3 eyed raven and has done so much in the series, such a big character in the books and he knew he couldn't be lord because he was going to be king. Do I think they explained it enough in the series? No, that could've been handled beter but still a fitting end for him.
- Jaime dieing with his true love (Cersei) because they belonged together was fitting for me as well. He knows his sister is bad and poisonous but he feels he doesn't deserve a good live with Brienne and will always love his sister. The way HOW they died should've been beter
- Sansa: Queen of the North? Hell yeah, obvious.... The North Remembers...
- Tyrion: Fitting end, he knows things and drinks wine...
-Danny: Since season 1 was obvious to me she wasn't 100% a good person and was capable of horrific things (like crucifieing the slavers without any emotion... Couple that with Dragons and losing all the people she loved and trusted.... Obvious to me she was going to become totally cray cray. So her ending was a proper one to me. They should've perhaps elaborated more on this because can imagine that to some viewer it was a bit sudden and out of the blue....
To me it feels like some people just hate it because the ending was different than what they had in mind or had immagined...
Terrible ending to the greatest show of all time.
To quote the one true queen, RuPaul:
"Meh."

If this ends in a cliffhanger, I'm done with any other show these writers work on.
