Seven minuites in they already gave us the best falcon fight through the entire mcu so far. Along with the best performances from Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie so far. And there’s more cameos than the entire Wanda vision with Rhodes. Some great new characters who’s names I can’t remember, the old man and sams war friend and his sister. I’m psyched for Zemo and more of Sam and Bucky interacting.
I watched this on the train to school and ima rewatch it on the train home.
This show is gonna be amazing man. 9/10 for me.
This felt really good to me. I liked the layers on display. We could feel that we were dealing with change and character struggling with that change. The absence of Steve sends ripples through both Sam and Bucky's life and that loss feels internalized in the show in a way that I found much more engaging than Wandavision, personally. Also, that editing from Kelley Dixon is tight as hell, as usual.
Waited too long for this , so exited
Ok, didn't expected that tone for the show... and thank god! Life during Blip and changes that it brought is the most interesting thing about MSU right now. And honestly Marvel meets Leftovers would have being a great combo I know that they not gonna go that far and that stuff gonna drop from the show eventually So, I would take what I can get so far.
My only problem is that by the end of the series, I bet, Sam's collateral damage won't get the same treatment as Bucky's currently gets.
Cause for one action scene we already got alot of kills accompanied by light banter and literal hooray moments. If juxtaposition was done on purpose I would be incredibly surprised.
I can see why Marvel wanted to start with this show rather then WandaVision. I liked Wandavision, but this show felt more like the movies and had more of a direct relationship with them. It dealt more with "the blip" and seems like a more natural beginning of phase 4. Episodes of this length and substance are also more rewarding to watch week to week then the short run time of the wandavision episodes, especially given you had no clue what was going on until a few weeks in.
The opening action sequence was great, they made a good choice starting this story with Falcon and moving to Buckie mid way in. It was great learning a little more about Falcon being that they've really shed very little light on his story at all in the movies other than his loyalty to Steve. We know more about Bucky, so the focus here was correct. I like that these shows add more substance to the characters then the movies can fit in, it was sad watching Bucky come to terms with the damage he caused, but something his character needed since he was really only used for action scenes since the winter soldier all those years ago.
Very solid start for this show, I can't wait to see more but also felt satisfied with what I got which is something I struggled to feel with the short and mostly irrelevant WandaVision episodes.
And then the ending comes where everyone let out a collective "oh hell nah."
apparently sebastian stan improvised many of his lines in the therapy scene. amazing!!!
Already infinitely better than Wandavision and with more emotional weight tied to the two leads. Super interested in seeing where they go with this.
I liked this first episode, I liked the fight sequences and I am so happy we get to see the people behind the heroes and what is going on in their heads, especially in Bucky's head...
I like getting to know these characters outside of the action set pieces. Good episode.
I liked it, the show is off to a good start. I don't understand the comments saying it was slow, since this is the first episode, it's setting things up and we're getting to know the characters better. It had the right amount of action and plot. I for one am happy it's not a missions-of-the week, explosions-every-five-minutes type of show and we're actually going to learn more about the characters too.
Bucky is one of my favourites from the MCU and I always felt he had a lot of potential. It was frustrating the movies didn't do more with the character, considering what interesting comic book material there is to go off of. I'm looking forward to the show exploring Bucky and Sam more, both characters will benefit from it. I have zero interest in Sam so far and since he's supposed to be taking the CA mantle I feel they really need to beef up his character development.
Solid start! Falcon's action sequence at the beginning was cool but Bucky's scenes definitely stole the episode.
As for the "new Captain America", HELL NO!!
Also I appreciate Anthony Mackie trying to speak Arabic but he totally butchered it :joy:
not as good as wandavision but a good start, wish sam and bucky met up tho tbh
For a show, it has some breathtaking movie quality action.
Nice premiere episode even though I somehow expected more from it. Nevertheless it wad a good introduction and I guess it will get better from here like WandaVision.
As Trump would like to say: BORING!
It's alright. Definitely not WandaVision levels and nowhere near the same hype for the next episode. It's only the first episode, though
This series looks promising!
Despite my hesitation, I found New World Order to be a fun way to kick-off the new series. After the deprivation of action in WandaVision, I appreciate the episode's opening with fast-paced action before exploring the series' possible key themes and its characters.
Finally, Bucky is a character! Since his first appearance, I haven't cared about him, and his development here is captivating. I won't spoil it, but they take the logical step towards developing his character, and it's justified. Not only this, but it's imbued with themes that resonate. The writers define his personality substantially, and discovering that his jokey self is more of a facade to hide his issues is quite relatable. I'm gonna stop here, though, so go see it for yourself!
With Sam, his whole deal with trying to help his sister and his views on Captain America's legacy isn't as interesting as Bucky's segments. Through his dedication to his parents' old boat, it makes his views on Captain America's legacy connect logically. His worldview is well-defined, and I hope they continue with these ideas. Oh, and that ending is quite the cliffhanger!
It's a solid entry with the strongest 7/10 I've given to any episode I've seen. It's a promising start, developing its characters from the ground up, not assuming our empathy towards them, and ties into the films very well. I hope they can maintain or improve upon this quality from here on out!
TECHNICAL SCORE: 7/10
ENJOYMENT SCORE: 8/10
At first I thought this was going to be a higher-budget Agents of SHIELDS (absolutely meant that as compliment), then sank back a little as the middle parts seem to be a "heavier" show than that, but by the end I was intrigued by both leads' individual stories, which feel teased out more engagingly than I would have first thought, especially Sam's. Glad the show won't completely ignore race here (both the scene at the bank and the ending), and I hope they actually follow through with it.
the new “captain america” reminds me of when steve got recruited to act (or whatever they called it) during the first movie. this is not going to go well with sam, hes definitely gonna fight it.
So much better of a start than Wandavision. As previously said, action and story wise it was more of a natural transition into phase #4 for me personally. Preferred the length and the Marvel style we’ve become accustomed to over what was used for W/V. Excited to see where this is headed
Man that was a lot of dialogue after the opening sequence, I get it, they're trying to establish the story, characters et al but still could do with better pacing. It's a solid 7/10 for me.....
The stories is a little boring for me, I think.
From the start, Falcon and the winter soldier showed to be something different from what MCU has been doing. It felt a lot more "Artistic" than most of their movies and went deeper in the mind of the characters. As a first chapter this was a good start.
Sam Wilson visiting the bank to ask for a loan really puts a realistic and dramatic view of the life of the avengers after defeating Thanos.
awesome opening action sequence great use of a lesser known antagonist from Captain America Winter soldier
after that the rest of the episode is solely character development focusing on Sam for a while and then shifting over to Bucky very good setup episode
Very refreshing after watching the first season of Wandavision (don't get me wrong, I liked that show a lot - I'm just ready for some good old fashioned ACTION). A pretty standard introductory episode, but they've got my attention with the John Walker character. Wyatt Russell has been great in everything I've seen him in, and he's of course the son of two legendary actors (Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn, his dad played Ego in Guardians Vol. 2).
After Wanda it becomes difficult to maintain expectations. First episode. Fair but...
Kinda boring. Falcon family drama does not interest me at all. Bucky was interesting tho. I like him way better than Falcon.
So it wasn't bad at all but I feel like it was a weak introduction, or maybe it was just an introduction and that's it but the focus of this introduction was things we've already been introduced to and the new exciting stuff was relegated to the background if that makes any sense, like we already know Sam is a "patriot" army lover and doesn't feel worthy of taking the cap american mantle, we know that Bucky was an assasin and now feels super guilty about it, but like if you only have 6 episodes why waste one with this stuff we already know, Bucky going to therapy and Sam going to the bank were interesting and new perspectives of the superhero life and set the tone of where they are at, but I also feel like all the personal stuff we saw about them could've been divided across the 6 episodes instead of just putting it into one, like it was 20 minutes of them discussing a boat and I get why it's important but I would've rather all that in little moments across all episodes.
I liked that we go back to basics of more like the agent life, it almost gave me Agents of Shield vibes (or what AoS tried to be) and that we got more mentions of the post unblip life, but I still don't love how marvel is handling the post unblip life, it's almost like everyone assimilated so easily back into it (obviously that's gonna change with the ALF? people but again we have to wait to find out more about them)
So again it wasn't bad but I feel it would've been better if they released the full season (I get disney+ strategy) or like two episodes every week or if I waited to watch till the whole season is out
This was generally mediocre. The dialogue was pretty bad, so was the fight choreography, and some of the CGI didn't look right. Also, the story didn't make for a superhero tale. This was more interpersonal drama, and if I wanted to watch that, I'd watch something better written.
Well it was just okay, it's just the start, it will probably get better. I was pleasantly surprised to see Joaquin Torres (The new Falcon in the comics). And we have U.S.Agent (John Walker) at the end. it's okay, but yes, well, slow start.
sorry, not a fan so far, that was 5% action and 95% filler, i don't need to see Sam and Bucky's personal lives. the first episode should come out swinging and this did not do that. and what the hell was that at the end of the episode? looks like they grabbed some random guy off the street and stuck a Captain America costume on him, guy looks like a dweeb. not impressed, hope they do better and they only have 5 episodes left
This episode opens with one of the best action sequences in quite a few years. Maybe not THE best but top tier for sure. That's not just for a TV show but there are films that wish they had this level of action. Narratively it suffers though. The episode is a mostly confusing an not near as interesting mess.
Truly awful fight scenes in this episode. The opening action sequence was painful to watch, which is a travesty considering GSP was part of it. These are literally two of the most boring and uninteresting characters in the MCU. Really weird that they got given their own show IMO. This was BORING.
Honestly, I'm not thrilled to keep watching this show, but I will, simply because I feel as though I'm better off seeing everything in the MCU in preparation for future shows and movies.
Wow!
This is the complete opposite of WandaVision.
Its back to cookie-cutter Marvel style (which I'm ok with tbh) but somehow not exciting at all. The Action was boring and poorly shot. But that's not the main issue for me. My main issue is Falcon.
Falcon is complete and utter D**che bag.
He kills more people in the first 5 mintues of the first episode then Bucky does in his whole career as the winter solider....
then not to mention this bizarre and random racial tension plot where Falcon seems to vehemently despise white people....?
For instance he gets disproportionately upset when the one guy makes a suggestion about modifying his drone.... I thought that was weird, but ok.
The main thing that did it for me was the "I know how White Folk work" bit.... It sounds like a racist southern man from the 1800's but reversed. I just felt such division during that statement and the following scene where he goes to the bank.... He gets declined because no financial history for 5 years (makes sense) but seems to imply its because he's African American and their special victims in refrence to the blip - but - - but- - EVERYONE disappeared equally. No specific race or religion was discriminated against when Thanos SNAPPED..... so why is he specifically a victim more then anyone else?
Then he got mad after the banker tried to take pictures with him AFTER he bragged and patronized the white guy about being Falcon... HE was the one who tried to milk HIS privilege to get financial gain. I'm just so confused on who thought this was a good plot or writing.
On top of that Falcon has this oppressively power trip where he wont let his Sara sell the boat, when he left the family business long ago, and was gone for 5 years after that...
So - Falcon hates anyone whose not a POC & he's a raging misogynist & Egomaniac.
All that and he's not even that big of a deal as far as hero's and the MCU goes
He has to be the most dividing and un-unifying hero I've ever seen in the MCU.
Capitan America was never concerned over someone's skin color nor ever mentioned race??
Guess I'm the only one who found the action-packed opening the least interesting part of the episode. I thought it would be a mission-of-the-week type of show. So, it's a nice surprise that won't be the case. I actually like to see the human side of superheroes and their daily problems. I can see why young audiences would find that boring, though.
Blah, pretty boring compared to what I was expecting. Hopefully it will pick up.
And can anyone explain why its not racist for Falcon to say "you know I don't play with these white folks"? If Cap said, "You know I don't play with these black folks", it would be considered racist. Just trying to understand why its different.
So far, so good!!!!!!! They're off to a smashing start
The beginning was good with all the flying and stuff. It went downhill after that. Who the hell is the new Captain America. He looks like a right weirdo. It's only been a few months since the universe was corrected. I would have thought the whole world would still be in turmoil especially when everyone came back all at once. How are people supposed to get their lifes back and homes and jobs after being gone for five years!
The new captain America looks like a fucking douchebag.
Unpaid Intern Mr Falcon's story was a bit boring. Winter Soldier man's story was better and somewhat more believable.
Well, this seems to follow more along the lines of the movies with big action sequences. As long as they can keep the story interesting I'm in for the duration.
Me when I see the 'new Captain America' shows up with the shield: THE AUDACITY OF THIS BITCH
It was a first good episode, I was surprised at how little action there was because I was expecting the whole episode to be filled to the brim with action. [thankfully it wasn’t]
I also thought that going into the characters day to day life and not going right after the baddie was a good choice since it gives more insight into how these heroes are coping after endgame just like Wanda.
I usually wouldn’t bring this up but I noticed this little thing where they made the bad guys be bad cause they went against capitalism lol. I usually don’t get political but it was pretty noticeable and not an undertone for sure.
Nonetheless I enjoyed this episode and looking forward to next week
Very interesting. So we get Flag Smashers, Zemo, Falcon, Winter Soldier and is it John Walker in the end? I wonder if they're going to make him the same arrogant douchebag he is in the comics..

Compared to WandaVision's more experimental and surreal approach, one would think this show's "return to basics" style would be a bad thing but that couldn't be further from the truth. In fact, so far at least, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is shockingly restrained - sure it has bombastic action and the same production values you would expect from the company, but what's most surprising is how the show actually decides to approach the material. It's much more somber then anticipated, focusing almost entirely on the day to day lives of these characters and going into what makes them tick. PTSD, racial tensions in America, legacy, financial inequality, and the treatment of veterans are hefty topics and the show boldly jumps into them head on here.
It's not all that though, of course. The action scenes are stellar here - movie quality even - and the opening canyon scene in particular will go down as a favourite for MCU fans. Torres is a delightful new addition that adds a lot of levity to the otherwise humorless proceedings, and Sebastian Stan as Bucky continues to have a sarcastic streak to his performance that makes him wholly unique among the heroes of the franchise. Overall this is a stellar start, and I can't wait to see more.
