It had me totally intrigued and immersed in this story already.
The ensemble is well put together, the writing is good, giving us enough reveal and mystery, while keeping the time frame depicted as realistic.
See Amazon, you Can put something together that can draw interest and keep an audience. It doesn't have to cost a Billion either. I may have wrote out loud what I was thinking. Ohh well.
Good casting with nicely flawed characters, solid/great acting (mostly, Tommy is a bit...odd), no political agenda to be seen (as of yet), interesting premise, nice episode length, fairly decent production value for a new series.
The writers of this show really take their time in these two opening episodes to explain the what and how of this world within fair boundaries. Something you rather rarely see and something I appreciate. It shows a level of care for the world and story but also that they mean business with what they want to do here and get the groundwork out of the way in a solid way.
If they can keep up this level of writing throughout and do not delve into "soap opera drama" like most shows do after some time this has the potential to become really big. I'm looking forward to that. The only thing striking me as odd is the accent of several actors, including Moretz. Sounds often weirdly unnatural but I am a non-native speaker soo perhaps that's just me.
I was super intrigued by the first episode and the beginning of this episode but wow it throws a lot of weird plot points at you quick and really has made me disinterested in the series.
8.5/10 - This continues being very interesting :)
I don't like the time travelling (they say it's quantum tunneling and not time travelling but I don't see the difference - it doesn't really matter if you're time travelling with your body or via data - sure, there are important differences but you're basically time travelling in both cases).
Seems like Burton and his ex-miliary buddies still have it :) That linking ability also seems interesting - I hope they'll explain it or show more of it.
That floating coffee cup would've seriously messed me up... :o xD At least there was the invisible car which really made things better as there's an explanation now. Otherwise, it would seem like a glitch in the matrix... :o
I'm glad that they explained that Flynne's robot body runs on AI while she's away and that it has an 8 hour sleep cycle (although the latter begs another question: why?).
The accents are lovely but sometimes hard to understand (when combined with mumbling).
"Are we real to you?" I really loved that! That's the kind of questions that I find the most interesting and that I would ask myself anyway so I'm glad that this show discusses at least some of these questions. I'm also glad that they explicitly mentioned the branching timelines and multiverses. I hope they'll also explain how they expect everything to fit together / what they're trying to achieve.
Flynne's badass spirit can be quite enjoyable (like when she spit in the drink :D).
And it looks like the meds from the future work really well :) I'd really like to have access to that as well.
I realize this is something only a few people, including me, care about, but I hate how the gun combat looks. None of the actors bother to simulate even a shred of recoil firing this fairly high-caliber weaponry. Just point and make gun sounds happen. It honestly ruins those scenes for me.
Everything else, from the story to the visuals to the imagery is very intriguing.
1x02 - Empathy Bonus: 7.6/10_ (Good)
Although it's still early on in the season, the show's first two episodes have laid the groundwork for an intriguing premise. The mystery is gradually being unravelled, and this episode does not disappoint. It's too early to say for certain, but up to this point, the story hasn't been quite as complex as I had anticipated it would be. I was quite impressed with both the visuals and the score, and I look forward to seeing how the story unfolds.
Well! Episode 2 and looks like this show already got my attention! Non doubt this thing came out right of the Westworld minds!
Damn Flynne, how dumb are you? Turn off the flashlight!
Then instead of taking advantage of your surprised intruder, who was sprawled on the ground without a helmet, you run away. Just wail on the bastard with the closest solid object. It doesn't take that much force to knock him unconscious and/or kill him. Instead you let him get back on his feet and pick up his gun. And you also give him a warning to let him know where you are? So many fails. Oh so many fails.
If you are such a great VR gamer, this should have been obvious.
The rest of the episode was fantastic. I'm really digging the story. I wish we could have kept Burton as the avatar. Jack Reynor has so much panache. He is wonderful.
Feels like a Christopher Nolan TV Show
Holy shit that was a awesome opening. Was so good seeing those assholes get taking out.
Should have kept hitting him but i guess she really isn’t the violent type just in games, damn her Brother is a badass!!! I hope he doesn’t die anytime soon. Fingers crossed
Conner is back!!! Lol
Man i was not expecting all of this, I’m so excited for this show now. I imagine people that know nothing about the backstory like me originally came for Cholë because she’s done good stuff in the past but got more than we expected. Its done so well because they made the brother the badass in real life and not her because that would not be believable like how they tried to make us believe the girl in “Sweet Girl” could take out so many Assassins.
Yes she gets to show her real self. Would suck to do all this as her brothers avatar.
Lol the coffee cup was cool, i would of thought it was on a sting from the tree. Can you imagine seeing your first invisible tech damn i hope its in our lifetime but im 90% sure we will not unfortunately.
So cool to have a group of friends that’s willing to take out people with you and help bury them. For the right cause of course.
Lev was being kind of a dick for someone that wants and needs her help but then again rich assholes doing this stuff for their own means I’m sure always are. They really keeping a lot of shit from her. I wasn’t helping unless i knew everything. I dont trust Lev or his people, i imagine Wilf will break the rules for Flynne
Mr Pickett will for sure fuck things up. I hate him already.
How is the cop going to explain that new tech car to his people or the world? I assume someone’s going to come and get rid of it. Or questions will keep getting bigger
She just walks downstairs without the shotgun :man_facepalming_tone3:. Even Burton entering the house with his rifle was done on point, you can tell they did firearms training :clap_tone3:

I thought this was a step down from the first episode. Some of the writing/dialogue feels very 'off' and not good, especially between the characters conspiring in 'future London'. I audibly cringed in the opening minutes when they started talking about the 'dark web' in that annoying generic way that every show seems to these days - it just seems like some edgy throw away comment rather than really being anything of substance: "How did you achieve x thing?", "I went to the dark web!" Awfully convenient and straight-up bad writing.
It seems I was right about my initial prediction/theory of Flynne piloting a body/robot rather than being in a virtual world - didn't expect the time travel aspect though. I think Flynne is an interesting character, and I like most of the scenes with her in them, but I think the show is pretty generic, dull, and not very well written in terms of most other characters and plot lines. I didn't think the action at the start of the episode was too great either.
This show still has potential, and there's a lot of interesting stuff that's going on/being hinted at, but as to how much the show plays into those parts remains to be seen. Will continue watching because despite the issues, it's still entertaining and it's something a little different.
