As my wife aptly said after the conclusion of the episode, "there's plenty of action but not a lot of story here." There are certainly a lot of great moments and a good bit of mystery, but it feels more like a trailer for whats coming then a its own story.
Why are we getting introduced to like, 10 new characters? Hope it doesn't spend too much of the final season focusing on them all
Oh damn that scene with Vanya and #1. Lay it out plain - don't fuck with her!
Will be interesting to see how she becomes Viktor but damn they could have given Elliot a better wig for the start of this. It's really good he was comfortable enough to play out the Vanya parts of the season though.
Incredibly hard to watch but equally as SUPERB of an episode of television. Jamie Lee Curtis gonna win an Emmy for this.
The dialogue and acting in this episode was actually outstanding, can't believe we're coming towards the end of the show already :(
I enjoyed this episode but I learnt something about TV shows these days.
It's ok to mess with a guy, tell him he's a bad dad for not being around and making him love a kid thinking it's his... Then tell him it's not his and it's all ok.
It's ok to force a guy to unwillingly have sex with you so he cheats on his girl.
All these things happened and it's ok because it was women who did it.
But, dare to misgender someone and you're evil
He's back ! Vader enters the picture and immediately the heat is literally turned up. One shot, one breath of him has more weight as ten minutes from the Third Sister.
I had not imagined that him and Obi-Wan would meet that early. And now we have the question of continuity. There has to be another meeting because that one could not have been what Vader was describing in Ep IV (with Obi-Wan being the Master and he the apprentice). Yes, those things matter to me. But as one-sided as the duel here was it had me on the edge of my seat. The lightsabers in the dark, the musical score, Vaders voice - that was an amazing sequence.
How on earth did Reva get past Leia ? There is one tunnel leading to where the pilot was waiting and she had to pass Leia to get there first. Yet she was there waiting, the pilot already dead.
All in all by far the best episode. Obi-Wan talking about Padme and his memories of his own family was another great scene.
Now I'm hyped.
A much more enjoyable episode again this week. Seeing the connection to the Mandalorian was great and it was interesting to see how Boba saved Fennec's life.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. The flashbacks are the juicy story elements for me every time. When the episode focuses more on the flashbacks I find myself enjoying the show a lot more. The present-day plot is sooooooooo slow to the point where I think every episode except for maybe episodes 6 and 7 will continue to just be setups for the "final battle" where all hell will break loose.
Also I'm hyped to see Din Djarin next episode. That Mandalorian theme was a dead giveaway!
One of the most captivating shows of the decade ended with this episode. I can’t sing Shogun enough praise. What an absolute masterpiece.
Maybe they’ll continue it, maybe they won’t. I know I’ll be following the crew to see what they do next.
I don't know what makes less sense: email pinging from a physical address(???) or Chloe saying yes.. WTF?
Yes, Elliot Page transitioned, but after his coming out he said he'll continue to play Vanya.
Don't understand the need to have Vanya transition too. It does nothing for the story and it was completely half-assed. Short hair and a new name. That's it? Come on.
A decent way to handle Elliot's transition and the Vanya/Viktor character.
Thing is about Elliot, he never did look comfortable in his own skin. When he did make that announcement in 2020 suddenly it made so much sense to me why. I like how they wove that into the show. Viktor's conversation with Allison felt very authentic. I bet that was emotional for the actors to film as well.
Also, do we think the ball of energy in the basement is tidying up the paradoxes?
This was a complete loss of time!
Nothing happened.
The Fuck thing was anoying why put it in every sentence?
Will watch the last episode but probably giving up on next season if there isn’t a big turnaround
Me channeling Elsa at the whole Luther and Sloane thing: "You can't marry a man you just met!"
Honestly though, someone calling out Viktor's part in both apocalypses was overdue. I get that a lot of outside forces were responsible (and in a way, his family and their constant dismissal is a factor), but it's his powers (and ultimately decisions) that lead to the world-ending stuff. The confrontation with Alison was painful to watch though (although tbf I did think she forgave Viktor pretty quickly for... slashing her throat back in S1). Five did it well.
Insanity. Blows my mind how perfectly the plethora of different stlylistic choices was implemented here.
The only thing I'm not liking about this show, is how many episodes we have left till the end, this story has been nothing but Epic
a disappointing end for a lackluster season, I had a lot of fun with the first two seasons but this was TUA at its worst.
Again the show delves into the past and is all the more better for it.
And, man, do I hope the music at the final scene means what I hope it does.
As Cosmonaut Marcus writes, "It was whatever."
There are some important messages but no revelations, lessons or challenges. Falcon just hears Bradley say, "don't do it", and does it and does fine, because...? So he had self-doubt, hears more doubt from someone else, but does it anyway?
SCORE 5/10
So over Allison this season. I know she is grieving, but that doesn’t give her the right to be so cold and mean to everyone for no good reason. And what she did to Luther…?!
"- Detective.
- Counselor.
- Douche.
- Dick."
I love this show.
And that ending... it broke my heart. Please don't hurt my beautiful Chloe.
The visuals and aesthetics were great in this as well as the kinetic animation style but the story massively leaves you hanging the twist is already hinted at from the get go anyways.
This ending was fine I guess. Ruby, Adam, and Michael ended up being the most interesting characters in the show these final two seasons. Wasn't really a fan of the new characters in this season. Seasons 1 and 2 were definitely far superior to 3 and 4, but they were all enjoyable enough. Good place to end it.
Really getting worried about Red. Seems like she's going senile/has hints of Alzheimers. Been a real downward spiral for such a strong character :(
I'm enjoying the season (mostly) but it's definitely the worst season of the show so far. We need less Viktor, less Allison, less Sloane, and more Reginald!
Still mad they killed off the two most interesting Sparrow's first.
The way Luther's eyes widened when Sloane called his moon mission cool hahaha, yeah she's perfect for him
This episode was so much fun except for the fact that Allison ruins the vibe of every scene she’s in.
