Wow.. Happy Father's Day, Reggie. Dad of the year.
So happy for the winner! Also, this is probably one of the very few instances where I would ever think a double win would have been warranted. Ra'Jah was absolutely killing it all season and in the finale!
OKAY. I totally called the "outsider enjoys her new group of friends" Mean Girls bit and figured that was that and it was just gonna be a cute movie. Don't know if that was just me, but I totally did not see that twist coming lmao. Literal jaw drop moment.
I'm guessing barista guy's the monster?
Second group was so good! And Viv's Dolly lip sync was perf!
Re: boomerang trick arrow: "You'd have to dodge." Oh, Kate.
Why can't I take happy Vera Farmiga seriously?
Nat is such a crucial part of Clint and the show despite everything. And I am all for it. The talk about Clint's "best shot"/the one he didn't take had me tearing up. It also took me a while to realize that that pause Clint had when reaching down for Kate was a call out to their Endgame scene, but when I did, god damn it.
Yelena's BW moves, oh yeah! Wish it didn't end there. I wanted her to beat their asses lol. I do like that Yelena zipped Kate up before dropping her off the side of the building (that was homicidally sweet of her) because she was there just for Clint.
I'd really like for Clint to at least know of Yelena, like when she finally tells him why she's after him, that she's doing it for her sister, he'll know and just go "Yelena?" or something. She's supposed to be one of the most important people to Nat, next to her found fam Avengers, and since Clint's her bff and she knew about his family, it would make sense that he would know about hers. Since there was never really any allusion to Yelena before the BW movie, I feel like we need this for some continuity.
Okay, this is better. Kate's fangirling is hilarious, and there were a lot of pretty good one-liners.
And I'll kick myself later if I'm wrong, but they're making Swordsman/the fiancé so sketchy, so naturally, I'm convinced he's not a bad guy and maybe also fancies himself a vigilante.
Was it just me and Echo's intro was really anticlimactic. They should have shown her in action, if we had to wait until Episode 3, that would've been fine by me. Or you know, I have no idea what I'm talking about. I just think she would have been so good in Netflix's Daredevil.
I've found that the only way I can enjoy Lucifer's continued arrogance and selfishness (which honestly I know has been ongoing since Season 1 but has seemed much worse in recent seasons, or is it just that 5+ seasons of it is too much?) is to just accept it as Lucifer's norm — that he's never going to change and was the main reason he was so entertaining in the first season or two — and laugh at it. Otherwise... it just gets really annoying.
His scene in Linda's office highlighted this and this might have been the first time in a while I actually laughed at something Lucifer said. My god, he never listens, so I was honestly surprised when he caught on that Carol was talking about Ella.
And yass, Bob and Katya! LOL I enjoyed Bob and Luci's performance more than last season's musical episode. Katya should have danced!! (I've been watching too many interrogation psychoanalysis videos on YT though because my first thought when Bob when on his monologue was 'he'd look so guilty if this was really life' LOL.)
Ah, the superhero movie of my childhood.
The young Mabel was spot on as a young Selena! Dang.
I like the characterizations for our weird trio of sleuths. Can't say I like or are attached to any of them particularly strongly at this point, but yeah, they're interesting enough and have this rapport when they're together that make them fun to watch.
Glad we're seeing Mabel and Tim's backstory now, I was scared we were going to have to wait a while.
And WHOA, that ending. (Are they not worried about stealing all of Tim's stuff from his apartment though and leaving tracks in the blood, or is it because the cops are done with the scene?)
... well, fudge, I knew something like that would happen. Poor Raelle... again... :(
That Twinner alliance is Rolaskatox all over again :(
That was a cute, fun, easy watch, and the characters, though seemingly plain and slightly bland on the surface, will, I think, as they put it, peel back their characters like onions.
That last scene!!
I was so excited for this, with Hawkeye and YJ with Kate being my entry into the modern Marvel comics a couple of years ago, I've literally been waiting for a good Hawkeye entry since.
This was an okay episode, but it felt a bit thrown together. (Also lot of the dialogue looks so obviously dubbed even in the next episode; I know all shows do ADR, but I also know that it shouldn't be so obvious... right?)
I don't think we needed to actually see Kate's hero origin story, especially since it's a toned down version of what was in the comics, so I wouldn't have minded just being thrown in the deep end with Kate already the Hawkeye-idolizing, rich heiress young adult. The moment she saw Clint during the Battle of NY was cheesy (for me, I know some people thought it was... nice?) + her telling her mom she needed a bow and arrow was weird (okay, the latter was a bit cute lol). But I like that the time skip and Kate's training was shown in art form through the title sequence. It looked a lot like Matt Fraction's Hawkeye, that's probably what has given me my most 'fangirl moment' for the show so far.
I knew this coming in, but I love them finally making Clint's hearing disability MCU canon.
My rating for this went up a bit when Kate going directly back to her place while in the freaking Ronin suit bit her in the ass in the next episode and that the freaking tracking app on her phone was because of her job because I just thought that was so stupid lol, so I guess yay for some realism where Kate's a slightly clueless girl who doesn't know how to lose a tail and the people after her aren't entirely stupid.
They're also quite obviously setting some stuff up (with the Armand dude's argument with her mom and the sketchy, sword-loving fiancé... though I'm also pretty suspicious of the mom), so I'm looking forward to the payoffs.
Shaw's book club scene was the best scene of this episode LMAO
Such a shame about Victoria, but very hopeful that she'll be back next season. This was actually the episode I wouldn't have minded Krystal winning, instead of Episode 2, but yeah, to me it was a toss-up between Krystal, Scarlett, or Ella.
Ella's runways were so good. I just knew the moment they started nitpicking or pointing out weird comparisons that they wouldn't let her win; they don't even need to, I feel like it was very evident that Scarlett's second dress was better (imo) but they just love to nitpick details to justify not making them the week's winner, very typical RPDR formula.
I didn't really like how it seemed like they were building up Krystal so much in the first 2 episodes, but I also find it annoying how the judges always go "I expect more" just because a queen's doing well. They expect someone going somewhat steady at the top to go beyond, and when they do, they call it out as "over the top". I can't with them anymore.
High Finch, good cop Fusco, and Carter still struggling with what to do with Reese made this episode pretty good. Otherwise, this episode's case of the week was just a bit predictable.
Pretty good, really.. just some cheesy lines and angsty moments here and there that ruin it for me at times.. and sometimes, the acting.. :P
Tatum progressively getting more into it the more Leighton made fun of her was so funny. (And holy crap, how is the twincest phase thing freakishly accurate yet it's the first time I've heard of it lmao; p.s. I looked it up and it's not the actual term thank god, but still lol)
And oh, Bela... Bela, Bela, Bela...
Damn, did not actually expect the whole gang to end up at Gotham, but this is loads better than keeping the whole team apart.
I am loving Gar and Conner. And oh god Dick, did you date all your crime-fighting partners (Barb, Dove, Kory)? lol
Agree with the other comments, Red Hood's story is going too fast. If there was meant to be months, or even weeks, between this episode and the opening of the previous one, it's definitely not obvious and makes it a bit hard to suspend belief that Jason went from reckless Robin to chess master/crafty tactician RH. I know comic book RH was possibly at this level, but (unfortunately) I definitely didn't get that vibe from Titans' Jason.
Also is it just me but something's a bit sad about this season's fight scenes? I can almost always tell Dove's punches are fake as hell. The fight music, too, and the quips (was Hank always so corny, during and outside of fight scenes?). It's like they got instructions to try to lighten the show's mood. Feels kind of forced.
Side-note: Hank looked ridiculous in his uniform lmao
Okay, I was fully prepared for this to be a possibly boring, filler episode (I usually find it hard to enjoy jury episodes), but they got me hooked in the first few minutes. Small moments in this episode made this a great one: Reese and Harold pointing out that it was, once again, just the two of them; the way Harold almost got out of jury duty (that was so funny); and Reese sending Harold Morse code messages with a sniper.
I did like how Reese finally became concerned about Fusco's safety when he ropes him into their cases, but I'm also glad for Fusco standing his ground at the end of the episode. Reese looked so proud (I know I was!).
And that shot of Reese seeing Shaw's cover passports? That got me.
I loved Reese's smile when he was talking about his dad, it was pure joy that I don't think has been seen on his face in a while, but I kind of don't feel this thing they're developing between him and the doctor. We'll see.
Case of the week side-note: I saw the twist with who was trying to fix the trial coming, and I was worried for a sec that the fixer was actually Zoe (that would have been a shit twist lol).
Can't believe it's gotten to the point where I'm routing for Elias.
AND HOLY CRAP THAT CLIFFHANGER, that would have been frustrating to watch live.
The best part of this episode was finding out what Elias wanted in exchange. And yeah, Reese relating to one of their POIs.
Does poor Fusco still get to do his actual job? Because damn.
"You know, you make fun of Diane, but you're starting to take on a lot of her traits." LMAO. Okay, creepy dad.
"No such thing as starting over, okay? It's a fantasy. But there's moving forward. It's okay to get a life."
"Like, a life here? I mean, come on. This is not what I was running to, either."
"It's what you got for now."
Wow. That's... actually kind of deep, coming from a doll-loving pervert. Also personally pretty relatable for me right now (live your life now, stop thinking of possibilities of starting over since I literally can't go anywhere else) so I latched onto this little exchange lol.
I like Cheryl enough, but I feel like Blu actually did better in that lip sync? It kind of felt like they just didn't want the queen inspired by the guest judge to be the one to get sent home. Though I guess to be fair, the eliminated queen's ad was the worst of the 5.
What the actual f--- Can't believe they went down this road.. again.
This had some really, really beautiful moments. I think the way they dealt with Chad/T'Challa's death, and the eventual transition and focus shift to the rest of Wakanda was well done, but... I don't know what it is exactly that made this film drag so much halfway through.
My problem with this is my problem with Phase 4 as a whole: the MCU is becoming a fanservice machine, focusing a tad bit too much on world and lore introductions... a bit too fast. (I am part of the fans being serviced, of course, and I am way too invested to completely turn away at this point, so consider me an MCU apologist. Doesn't mean I have to like it 100% of the time.)
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed both Riri and Namor, but this was just a tad bit too long and I would much rather that the focus stayed on the core of Wakanda (the first half of the movie was so good, with the focus on the queen and Shuri and Okoye / the Dora Milaje). Now, I don't have much complaints about Riri whose involvement in this was pretty minimal since we all know she's already getting her own show (and her scenes gave some of the funniest moments of the film)...
... but maybe Namor needed his own movie? IDK, they could have taken out some of his lore scenes (I feel like this was to explain away the massive difference from the comics); I would not have minded Namor being introduced as this total villain for now to possibly be somewhat redeemed in a future movie... And jesus, I liked seeing Val again to show just how dangerous she's really getting, but there were too many CIA scenes.
It was good. It was just so long (halfway through I was thinking, this already feels like a full ass length movie but I just know there's still a long way to go since there's still so much that needs to be resolved holy sh--). But eh, what do I know?
Favorite stand-out scenes I still think about:
*Riri's intro. I had little excitement for the Ironheart series, and this movie just changed that.
*That scene where Angela Bassett/Queen Ramonda confronted Okoye after Shuri was taken? Holy shit
*The scenes highlighting everyone that Shuri has lost. I felt that deep in my bones.
*The final and the mid-credits scene of course. Goddamn.
From what I can tell, Bishop was popular among some of the fans during airing... but I cannot stand him, especially when he's perky and sht, he was so annoying (Kayla's "That gyrating bastard" in the next episode is such a good way to describe him lmao). Him evil monologuing's seems a tad better though, I doubt we'll get it often though.
I'm here for Spooner's episode, that was pretty good.
"Suntok ng demonyo." I can't believe John made the Tagalog translation of "demon's punch" sound magical lol
Ooh, is Jan the killer?
