Monsieur Hulot's Holiday

I now saw Jacques Tati's last version of the film, which was also wanted by the producers in this variant. In addition, it has been extensively restored and the sound has been improved.
I don't know the other versions, but I have to say that apart from a few small picture jumps, I didn't notice anything negatively. The picture and sound quality was really amazingly good.

I liked the humor in the movie, even if the plot dragged on a bit.
At this moment, however, I also have to ask myself: 'What was the plot actually?'
Well, Monsieur Hulot just went on vacation somewhere.
But I'll come straight to the next question: 'Who was Monsieur Hulot anyway?!'
Even if this is shown in the film by the visual language, I can't be one hundred percent sure.

Nevertheless, it's a worthwhile, funny movie in which there is almost no talk but has a great soundtrack.
The cutest is the little boy with the ice cream.

X2

Since the first film seemed like an introduction that has become too long, I am very happy about this successful sequel. The final fight was also quite cool. I was wondering all the time how to use a smartphone with such fingernails...

X-Men

Not a bad movie, but nothing special either.
If I had seen it immediately after release, the rating would certainly have been better.

What can I say... Logan is already a pretty cool guy and Captain Picard is also involved.
But in the end, not much happens. Now I still have some X-Men parts ahead of me. As a short introduction to the setting, I am satisfied with it, but rather not as a single film.
In the end, I really couldn't believe that this was already the showdown of a superhero movie.

Spider-Man: Homecoming

A felt eternity ago I once saw the Spider-Man movies with Tobey Maguire. They couldn't convince me.
But Spider-Man: Homecoming brings a breath of fresh air with the young characters and funny humor. For me as a MARVEL beginner, another bite that arouses my interest in the entire superhero cosmos.

Venom

The best scene is when he looks in the mirror...
I feel like that every morning.

Apart from that, the action scenes were action-packed and the quiet parts were not boring. Especially the German dubbing of Venom was awesome. That's how I would like to be able to speak.
I'm still very fresh in the Marvel universe and have nothing to complain about. Great movie.

MARS: Inside SpaceX

Maybe Elon Musk was sent from space to us and he just wants to fly back home?
Unbelievable what he and his company are realizing!

Don't Look Up

Reminded me of the current corona situation.
Complete ignorance to ultimately die of it. Stay healthy and please look up!

When I watch a movie, I usually take the time for it. It was different with this movie.
After some time, I realized that I was doing completely different things. I played on my cell phone, went to my PC... Every now and then I heard a few statements in the background, turned around and only saw a car grate through space. Oh God... I can hardly remember when a movie that I was really looking forward to, slipped so gracefully into the background of my attention.
Found it completely uninteresting, exaggerated and pointless. The first movie in the series was still really a really good movie.
However, the effects and animations were already insane... I don't want to know how much money went on for it.

Old

In itself, it is a very interesting idea overall. Especially how the phenomenon is used.
But there are so many question marks in my head. Why has no one else discovered this yet?
In such an overpopulated world, someone would certainly have stumbled upon it.
The border also irritates me.
And what's the point of the scene where one after the other realizes in pain that you can't just walk away... like lemmings.

Well, I was really looking forward to the movie. All in all, it wasn't bad either and I wanted to know what's going on.
But it had not met my expectations.

Mortal Kombat

" F A T A L I T Y "

I saw the movie and then it was over.
What happened? I don't know...
It was yellow, then blue, it crashed loudly, many screamed and then there was a lot of writing in the credits. No, joking aside...
When I used to see Mortal Kombat on TV as a little boy, I never understood it. Such a crazy story, but that's probably exactly what makes up the Mortal Kombat universe.
In any case, it never really caught me. After all these years, however, I really liked the games. So I hoped that the film would now appeal to me more. But as someone else has already written, it feels more like a huge trailer for the next part. After all, I got a little insight into the story of some characters and Sub-Zero is the coolest anyway.

Nobody

Bob Odenkirk acts like John Wick in Nobody. Great movie, well-acted, hot action scenes, comprehensible reasons for the actions of the protagonists. Nice movie from start to finish.
I like Bob Odenkirk more and more. Cool guy, very suitable cast for the role.

Monster Hunter

I was looking forward to the release for a long time.
The movie felt very long and in the end hardly anything happened under all the action.

The movie had some magic after all.
Despite my disappointment, I would be very happy about a second part... strange.

Jungle Cruise

The Rock in the Jungle, great thing. At least there are no doors where he always has to bend over.
A fight with a tiger? He would certainly do that with ease!
A good film to watch with the family.

Between Two Ferns: The Movie

Four stars for the film and 1 bonus star for the outtakes in the credits.

I kept asking myself if this is supposed to be funny in any way, or if it's all scripted now...
Still watched to the end. I don't know if it was because I wanted to know who else was invited or what happened to the ferns, but it was worth it, because I think the outtakes were the funniest...

The Matrix

Like Plato's Parable of the Cave in a future world.
It's still a masterpiece.

Doom: Annihilation

DOOM: Annihilation gets a pretty bad rating here. I have to say that the second movie was much closer to the games of that time than the first movie. Overall, I expected a similar level to that of the first film. In this respect, my expectations were exceeded. I enjoyed it.

Well, that wasn't the yellow of the egg.
Probably something for the younger generation. However, nicely animated.

El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie

Very nice conclusion for a very good series. It was great to dive into the world of Breaking Bad again. Especially to accompany Jesse Pinkman.

Hardcore Henry

Hardcore Henry
Less hardcore, more Henry.

As a player of first-person shooters and as a media designer, I have a nimble eye anyway. That's why I was very fascinated by the design and how much action fits into a frame.
I've seen the movie 3 times now and I always discover something new. I can't look away at all either. If I recommend the movie to others, they find it too violent, too fast and too much. One movie night at my place everyone talked at some point and I always said: "Here! Now, look at that!" Then everyone got a headache again and kept telling each other.
Somehow it's also a bit of "Crank" only in first-person perspective.
Anyway, take time for the movie and be ready for it. And always remember, it's about the how and less about the why.

Color Out of Space

Is it possible that Nicolas Cage plays in more and more trashy movies? I don't really think that's bad. However, I expected a more serious movie. Once prepared for this not to be the case, I didn't think it was bad at all.
Nicolas Cage always manages to portray pure emotion with constant facial expressions, which shows a mixture of despair and killing rage.
In a squeaky colorful skirmish, it is up to him to save everything and everyone again.

The Dead Don't Die

What always annoys me about zombie movies or zombie series also happens here. The ignorance that there are really zombies, or at least something terrible is going on, drags on forever. In this movie, however, this is not bad at all, as it is implemented extremely humorously and fits fully into the plot. Ignorance suddenly turns into more than acceptance and everything seems to be completely normal. In any case, the protagonists find a way to deal with it.
Bill Murray is acting wonderfully again. You can't expect a standard zombie action movie with a lot of shooting.
It's something completely different and that's a good thing.
Very relaxed, funny and well-acted movie.

Aquaman

Wow, I think I've never seen such incredibly good animations as in Aquaman. The movie really surprised me. I still feel cautious about all the superhero movies, as I never liked them before. But I notice more and more that some are pretty good.

Pokémon Detective Pikachu

Amazingly good CGI
At first I thought that the movie was more for children, but I liked it very much. Even as a non-Pokémon fan, I think that the film was good and understandable due to the beautifully thought-out and emotional story. The excellent CGI made everything even more interesting.

The Curse of La Llorona

It's been a while since I saw the movie. Now I wanted to write a review and I notice that I hardly remember. I think that says a lot. I remember that we found the movie at least a bit exciting, but it wasn't special either.

Bohemian Rhapsody

One of the best actings I have ever seen. Played by the main actor Rami Malek, who vibrates every part of his mustache, the history drama gets enormous authenticity based on Freddy Mercury's life. Very well implemented, extremely well acted and of course good music make the movie great.
However, it was quite a lot in quite a short time.

The House That Jack Built

Very hard-to-digest movie. After a short time, I realized that I sympathize with the murderer here. Try to understand him. In the end, I was just completely exhausted. Nevertheless, a well-made movie.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald

An unsuitable continuation of the first, even not outstanding film. Too bad, they could have learned from the first part, but somehow it seems as if they simply continued without thinking about it. You can see beautiful pictures, but in terms of content it is like a tough chewing gum.

Mandy

Another Nicolas Cage movie in which he drags all his facial muscles into a facial expression of killing out of despair. But I can't complain either, because I like his trash rolls more and more. Even if this movie is not just trashy. Everything is somehow packed into a kind of art film, which lives from very beautiful pictures and is definitely an eye-catcher.
