Even knowing the moment was coming didn’t make it any less sad and shocking.
why arent all eps from the hulu seasons like this? this is one of the only ones that really feels like it can compete with the old seaons.
I don't understand how something like this gets approved or even released in the end.
Are we being pranked somehow?
Seriously, what the heck did I just watch?
I'm not sure who thought any of this was a good idea but it will probably go down as the worst episode of the entire series? Just, wow.
For a series premier, this was not a good episode. For a doctor who episode, it wasn't a good episode. The CGI on the babies mouths was horrific.
Yeah I’m just gonna say no they shouldn’t have animated those babies mouths that way. And I never need to hear Space Babies said again.
Cry me a river, Ross.
This was a really fun episode! I was surprised by how catchy some of the songs were, so kudos to the songwriting team.
It's definitely a really convenient way to significantly move multiple plotlines forward in a single episode when you're limited to a 10-ep season, specifically with Spock and Chapel, as well as La'an and Jim. Though I am starting to side-eye how these love lines are playing out.
All in all, I really enjoyed it. When else are you going to get a Spock that spontaneously breaks out into song? That alone is worth it.
I pitty the fools that do not appreciate a good musical episode!
This was out of this world! ;)
This episode will divide the fans, I'm on the side that loved it, it was great! So well done. That theme song!
"i had no choice" what i kind of fucking bullshit is he even talking
So this episode released early (and also has lead to the rest of the episodes being brought forward a week) and I genuinely could not be happier with it. It's everything I ever wanted it to be and more and will definitely be something I watch over and over again.
No Spoilers At All Below:
This is by far one of the best episodes of any of the new Star Trek shows. They truly executed this to as close to perfection as they possibly could, allowing each shows unique style mix well with the others. The ending is masterful, and I absolutely loved it, just perfection, truly.
Damn the Hemmer stuff made me emotional! From Uhura then surprisingly Una! Super unexpected. It is very telling that such a short run of episode have enabled these characters to have such an impact on me. Loving this :hearts:
Also I got my La'an x Kirk moment and glad it was almost swept aside. Gimmie that slow burn baby :fire:
This was another, obviously, amazing episode. It’s like they can’t do anything wrong!
And I can’t believe that Gooding (Uhurua) is only 23. She is an amazing actor and act with such confidence and experience.
And that final scene and handshake had me giddy as a… Trekkie! :vulcan_salute:
This episode just shows that you don't need action, just well performed dialog. I had a few moments that just had me on the brink of tears, but the "feels" were real. I love this series.
Contrary to some of the other comments on this episode and series in general - by all means bring on season 2 and beyond. This is what Star Trek was and is supposed to be!
The "problem of the week" storytelling is what made TOS and TNG what they were, and I'm glad they stuck to it with this series. Discovery and Picard aside, I'm excited for where we go from here.
Another great episode of SNW with a classic Star Trek twist. The actors really handled the story perfectly.
I think this is my favorite episode thus far. It feels like a meta-celebration of acting in general, and seeing the breadth of the actors’ range is just excellent.
Did Trek and Orville finally switch?
What a great episode! I really loved it. Classic Trek with a lovely story. I hope SNW will continue bringing such great episodes (each episode so far was really good).
I miss this type of episodes in Star Trek, I'm glad to see it brought back. Not only that, this was a good way to end the arc of the doctor and his daughter, neatly tied to the book too.
I hope this is not the end of the his daughter's story and they'll revisit her in the next seasons. There are questions to be answered and possibilities to explore regarding the nebula. Was it something like the Prophets in DS9? Time is irrelevant? But they're stuck in one place?
Who knows. But I for one would like to know more about it.
Thank you. I love this episode.
Honestly this might be my favourite episode so far, although I have pretty much been feeling that way for every new episode. What could have been a fairly clichéd and generic "alt universe/role reversal" story was elevated by the beautifully emotional conclusion to an ongoing plot thread. I was expecting to laugh going in, but I certainly did not think I would end the episode in tears.
I liked how they addressed the subplot of M'Benga's daughter versus miraculously finding a cure for her and it was clearly a chance for the actors to show some different, sillier sides to themselves. Hard disagree with the low-rated comments -- this episode clearly embodied the spirit of TOS.
Inject this into my veins. This is the most Star Trek, Star Trek we've ever got.
Well, this is Star Trek, it's just that simple. It's an amalgamation of TOS, TNG and VOY plot themes, nothing exceptionally new, but it just works.
“Teach me to tap dance, Beverly Crusher!”
Freeman: My crew doesn't get all emotional for no reason!
Me: Yeah, this ain't Discovery.
