You better believe that I spent the last 15 minutes of this episode screaming internally. You know that meme with a cartoon dog sitting inside a burning room, saying "This is fine"? That's me right now.
I'm just... speechless. I don't know how to process everything that's happened. I can't even name all the emotions that I'm experiencing at the moment. A part of me wants to cry, another wants to laugh, but not in a good way - more in the awkward, panicked way, like when something bad happens and you react in the most inappropriate manner imaginable.
Let's start with the most obvious thing, the one that I've talked about quite a few times in the past: Iain de Caestecker and Elizabeth Henstridge's acting. Those two are like goddamn magical unicorns blessed with so much talent. Separately, they're utterly magnificent and deserve all the awards (which they'll never get because there is no justice in this world). But when you put them together, it's honestly one of the most powerful things I've ever seen. It's a nuclear reaction, a supernova, galaxies crashing together. It takes my breath away. Remember when FitzSimmons were supposed to be the comic relief in season 1? That definitely didn't go according to plan. Those two are the beating heart and the soul of this show. I'm not exaggerating when I say that one of the main reasons why I want Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. to go on forever is because I can't get enough of the magic that Elizabeth and Iain create whenever they're on screen together. When I watch them, I understand what it means that something is greater than the sum of its parts. The showrunners truly hit the jackpot of the millenium with those two. They elevate the quality of the show with their brilliance. In their hands, even the weakest of scenes and the corniest of dialogues turn into something special, and great moments become mindblowingly epic.
Fitz and The Doctor's interactions left me with my jaw on the floor. Especially that tiny moment when The Doctor mocked Fitz's stuttering (by the way, that's some excellent continuity right there, Fitz's aphasia coming back and getting worse when he's very stressed or upset). It made the big reveal all the more shocking and heartbreaking for me. I didn't see that coming at all, and I swear my soul left my body for a second when I realized what was going on. I'm almost in physical pain just thinking about it. I have no idea how Fitz is going to come back from this. I have no idea how he can ever patch things up with Daisy. I can't believe the writers did this to me. Can I sue them for causing me emotional distress?
Jemma finding out that Deke is her and Fitz's grandson was so lovely and touching. I always cry when Elizabeth cries, so naturally, I turned into a sobbing mess. And of course she threw up at the end there, and we know that in TV world women only ever puke for one of two reasons:
They've had too much too drink (alternatively, they took drugs - I'm looking at you, Jessica Jones).
They're pregnant.
Since Jemma wasn't knocking back shots or snorting cocaine in this episode, I think it's safe to say that there's a lil' British science bun in the oven. Normally, I'd be fucking ecstatic about this, but I think this episode has killed my ability to feel happiness, at least for the time being.
I guess some other stuff happened in the episode, the Russian dude from last season is back, Hale is working with the Kree or something, Hydra's back (could we perhaps stop beating that dead horse already?), but to be honest, I currently don't have the emotional capacity to give a fuck about any of it. I need to lie down on the floor, curl up into a ball and stay there for a while.
See y'all next week for more suffering!
Great take on a classic character, unexpectedly good and with the best song soundtrack in a while
I could gush about this for a long time but I'll keep it short -- it's fantastic. This is going to be a word of mouth hit because there's no one who leaves it who won't want to get other people to see it.
Quotable but seriously overrated. The best thing for me was the character of Inigo Montoya. The romance feels forced and superficial.
I see what you're doing, show. Having Loki become a master of time travel who turns toward the camera while emphasizing the line "it's WHO". I see, and I am amused. I like how this not only explores who our main cast were before their lives in the TVA, but it's a meta examination of how you can't just recapture the allure of the past without it literally unraveling, and also how the absurd impossibility of fiction is just as essential to science fiction as the science. A really inventive and rich episode. And so many jet skis.
No idea what's going on, sue me for being dumb.
In my opinion this was one of the weakest episode this show had so far. I just think it was quite boring. But I still love 'Only Murders' and I'm sure there's a lot good stuff coming.
As someone who doesn't read the manga or watch the anime, this first introduction to the series has convinced me to check more of the story out. I'm excited to dive deeper into One Piece, and I'm looking forward to any future seasons of the show!
It's disheartening to read comments criticizing the series for not living up to the standards set by previous seasons and for lacking action in some episodes. I advise viewers to have patience because there is undoubtedly a bigger plan in store for the series, masterminded by Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau, which will likely involve other shows dedicated to other characters.
i respect differing opinions, but I think it's important to recognize the unique nature of The Mandalorian. It's a show that blends genres and explores the Star Wars universe in exciting ways. It's not just about flashy action scenes, but also about character development and building a world that feels authentic and immersive.
Overall, while some viewers may feel disappointed with certain aspects of the third season, I believe it's worth sticking with the series and giving it a chance to fully unfold. With Filoni and Favreau at the helm, I have no doubt that there are some exciting surprises and twists in store for us.
I loved what they show did with Ava this week; having her stumble into a genuine learning moment is sweet but still with totally in-character humor/diss.
Comments here need to be at minimum 5 words, but there are only 3 that are needed:
holy shit, chef
I also loved the hug between Enid and Wednesday at the end. Their friendship was one of my favorite parts of the series.
Catherine Zeta-Jones is amazing and still looks good. I don’t know why anyone complained about the casting of her and Gomez. They’re both great actors and they play the characters well.
That K.E.V.I.N part was brilliant and on point
why is everyone hating on this finale???? i think this is the most fun watching experience since wandavision era
Don’t listen to the people saying DD is “ruined” from this episode, apparently they’ve never read the comics OR remember the show (or expect someone to dump all their trauma onto a character they just met in a legal comedy? Some people are really writing these reviews without a single actual critical lens).
This was a fun episode and I had a great time - though one of my biggest criticisms is the overarching plot that they’ve been trying to establish. It has a lot of potential, but the pacing of this storyline has been off for me the entire show. Besides the CGI it’s one of my biggest gripes, and I felt it again towards the end of this episode. There’s only one episode left and I really don’t know that it’s going to get concluded in a way I feel is satisfying, though that’s something I’ll have to wait until the finale to properly review.
Besides that though I had such a great time - it was SO great seeing Matt again and Leapfrog was a funny inclusion. Despite my above reservations I’m excited for the finale and seeing how this is going to go.
Only after the episode ended did I have time to stop and have the realization that there were no cuts once you were in the restaurant.
This show feels great already. Love the fast-pace of it all. Doesn't waste time getting into characters, it just lets them be and gives you what you need from there. I felt like I was in the kitchen.
I don’t get the Cara Delevingne hate. More tolerable than Amy Schumer.
Brown Jovi…hahahaha. Livin On A Prayer, perfect song. And so Jersey. Love it.
That finale broke me. It was almost painful to watch, such an emotional rollercoaster! All that mattered for me this season was the wellbeing of Max, so I am not ok right now.
OKAY BUT THIS SCENE WOW
Where is my mother?
I ate her
I didn't even know that was possible
Probably spoilerish...
Can someone just hit Steve with a car?! Call it (Car)ma. He's more than deserving, the guy is utterly revolting.
If Vecna touches a single hair of my Max's, HE WILL HAVE TO SEE ME!! I DON'T ADMIT THIS TO HAPPEN!!!
PROTECT MAX AT AAAAAALLLLLL COSTS!!
Meeeeeeehhhhhh. I ain’t didn’t feel no magic nope nope with this one nuh huh. Apologies, Kevin fanatics! Dude’s still “vapid,” one-dimensional, and uninteresting as they come.
In my opinion, this is a wholly forgettable episode!
With Miguel next week, I have low expectations. But the wonderful thing about low expectations is that it’s easier to exceed them! Time will tell.
Little Jack has quite possibly the cutest voice of all time. That’s the nicest thing I can say about this one, but good on Rebecca for solving the mystery.
There is no secret ingredient. That's gotta be the secret, right?
I really enjoyed that episode. I think Miguel deserves more room in those plot lines, so I am glad he's getting a bit more attention now. He is an integral part the family now, he deserves his place and we need to know his story too.
This whole Nicky and Sally thing was so realistic & touching. And I loved Rebeca and Sally's scene.
