Extremely boring episode that seemed to last 2 hours. The noir schtick wasn't done very well and was almost completely gone halfway the episode.
Give me a break! So... 6 episodes left to wrap up the series for good, and now they decide to introduce a new character? Which happens to be...:
Yup... you guessed right, it's option #5
The Ravi part was fun. The Clive being awkward part was hella fun. The "We weren't trying to put this on you. We were looking for advice [by bringing the kids with us and basically giving you no chance of turning them away]" part was dumb.
The whole season seems to be about this Seattle situation heating up. So far, I don't particularly care about that. While Major keeps up his Führer charme. I hope he gets killed off in this last season of iZombie.
Odds are against him anyways since (ex-)boyfriends of Liv tend to die (usually) early.
That dance montage... So good!
Also, "He was a marshmallow" at Baron's funeral (played by Francis Capra, who was also in Rob Thomas's Veronica Mars) . I see what you did there.
It's a sad day when jokes about "racially appropriating zombie culture", "whiteface" and "white lives matter" spoken by a black zombie fall flat. Or maybe it isn't... I'm quite frankly not sure anymore.
Ravi should have been a Z before this, it would have been tons of fun.
I was gonna say something about what fun brains we had in this episode (Ravi, OMG!), but instead I'll just express my happiness for Clive!
Isobel's story was included in this season as if it was just another side plot... only to leave us absolutely devastated this episode. I did not see all these feelings coming! Don't leave us, stay another episode at least... ah, everything about it was sad, but what made it even more sad for me was Rahul Kohli. Damn, that's some acting right there.
That said, I have multiple issues with this episode. We finally had a payoff with Major's infiltration mission... which ended on a terrible note. I was a bit unhappy about Chase simply shooting the girl, it doesn't really fit with the Chase who hesitated before killing Mama Leone. I have problems there, because it's too convenient (the shooting) for Major to definitely hate and work against Chase later on... but well. I like how Chase's expression immediately changed sensing something went wrong before they even knew.
Also, I feel like iZombie is struggling hard with the "cases of the week"... As fun as it is to find out what brain Liv will be on next, I feel like they're doing so well with the stories that carry over through multiple episodes, having them spend time on explaining cases seems like a waste. I keep seeing scenes in the interrogation table and tuning off or just thinking "whatever, show us what the others are up to".
"What happens in the Misty Dunes stays in the Misty Dunes."
The murder of the week has never been a less significant part of an episode than it was tonight. In more interesting news, Clive is still D&D'ing!!! That is so freaking awesome. And Ravi is in the game, too, but that's not surprising. And the cute new cop joins in! Workplace lockdowns just bring people together, I guess.
All in all, a consistent hour from start to finish. And I'm really rooting for Clive to finally find a little ol' ray of sunshine in the romance department. On the character front, Isobel is an appealing new addition and the casting is good there. And finally, the absence of anything from the Robert Knepper story line is a big plus since it's been nothing but a distraction that hasn't been going anywhere.
Liv and Clive have some terrific moments yet again in this one. And while I enjoy the Team Blaine stuff, that just isn't carrying over to his dad and his followers at all. Not in the least. Nothing against Robert Knepper, but I'd be more than okay with seeing that arc go away entirely so that the time could be spent on pretty much any other story line that's going on at the moment.
A solid outing until that insanely stupid final twist. I imagine that Liv's thought process went something like this: "While I'm breaking all sorts of laws, I should probably sit here wearing headphones and listening to music so that I can't hear my roommate, who is a lawyer for the city, when she comes home. And I should make sure that my laptop screen is facing the door to my room in order to make it as easy as possible for my roommate, who is a lawyer for the city, to immediately see that I'm breaking all sorts of laws when she walks into my room and surprises me. Because being surprised by my roommate, who is a lawyer for the city, is something that will work out well for me when I'm breaking all sorts of laws."
Clive continues to be awesome. This time, in particular, the scene where he takes away Liv's tin of chocolate brain hearts without skipping a beat on the interrogation was a great moment. His reaction to her, his facial expression, the whole bit. And her reaction to his reaction was great, too. Meanwhile, Ravi is the life of the party and we have a serial killer on the loose.
Does anyone else think it is weird Ravi was so interested in the visions Liv saw of him?
The D&D part of this episode is so hilarious. I've rewatched this episode because of it. They would have such a good group too.
My one concern with bringing Clive into the zombie fold was that we'd stop getting the classic reaction faces from the guy when it comes to various things going on around him. I'm happy to say, once again, that my worries were unfounded. Case in point: his look when Ravi asked, "Do I look like a nerd?" Seeing him get hooked on D&D was great, too. Clive for mayor!!!
The most boring, formulaic storytelling ever! This movie doesn’t indicate Hollywood is dead, instead it shows we are way beyond the grave and are just staring at the lifeless corpse of Hollywood cinema being pulled by strings. I don’t know who Wonder Woman 1984 was made for. Is the target audience kids? Because this felt like a children’s movie.
When Anna Banerjee said American superhero movies are blatant propaganda. Wow, SO true! I expect nothing less from a movie that’s an American perspective on the Cold War. Damn, communists! Damn, Russians! 90,000 years later Americans are still psychotically obsessed with the Russians. They are the only villains in US movies nowadays as well, so by that you can’t say in which year the whole movie takes place in, the only thing that pertains to 1984 are the clothes.
There was just so much wrong with this movie:
Gal Gadot is a very beautiful woman but my goodness, she cannot act even a little. It's hard not to think she was chosen only because she's a pretty model type, because it certainly was not due to her acting skills. And does she even have enough lines to justify being the leading character?
Pedro Pascal’s character is the same villain you’ve seen before in every film ever made: business man is overwhelm by his own greed. Oh, and his dad yelled at him for wetting the bed, so.
I hated Kristen Wiig’s character. She is the nerd with glasses that nobody helps but we got a "makeover" scene where she becomes "pretty" because she … takes off her glasses! And then everybody totally falls for her. Gal Gadot was like, "Where is your kindness and humanity, girl?" But Kristen Wiig was like, "Lol stfu bitch, I’m doing hot girl shit now." It’s basically an endorsement of the Joker thesis that it's always the socially insecure outcast who will eventually pose the greatest threat to humanity. But now people don’t have a problem with it because it’s women, so :tada: diversity. :tada: You people will gobble up any "diversity" scraps the Hollywood toss your way.
Other tropes are so cliché are well. The "hero losing her power" - women can only be strong and powerful or have love, never both, or the "using kindness to save the world" – this really is a movie about how we can solve international war and terrorism through … forgiveness.
Everything in this movie is black or white, so naturally, we got the "every man is an asshole but we aren’t going to have a real resolution about that" theme. Guys in car nearly kill jogger lady, bad guys want to throw kids to death in a mall – who acts like that?
The dialogue is a hokey displeasure to listen to - "Scientists don’t wear heels" "Some do", "I can save the day but ~you can save the world".
All in all, the plot is so riddled with cliches and idiotic ideas, the characters are either boring or stupidly written, the writing is complete garbage. The movie tries so hard to be relevant and relatable. I don’t have a high tolerance for overly cheesy movies, and I don’t think superhero movies are for me!
It was ok. After the terrible endings to both TVD and The Originals, I was not sure I'd watch this. I could waste years watching this show only to have Julie Plec ruin it with another one of her endings.
RIP Josh.
The end is near so of course Julie Plec must again kill as many fan favorites as she can.
She's so edgy sometimes I'm worried she could cut herself. [mic drop]
At this point, I'm beginning to wonder whether they write new plot lines based on the different kinds of colored contact lenses they can buy for the cast...
Damn, this was a badass episode. I don't care what the haters say, Cami is an excellent character. On a side note, everyone looked amazingly gorgeous in this episode, like more than usual. And that last scene, oh my heart!
I'm happy for Sterling, but everything about that girl screamed to me that she was going to turn her down, and that she was straight.
Woahhh get it girl! I can't believe she went for it and that April felt the same!
Also side note that teacher reminds me so much of Caitlin Reilly. Makes me laugh every time
Well that was unexpected! Sterling really is on a journey of discovery
Great season finale.
“You can put me down now”... awww. I loved that.
But uuugggghhh why do people have to be such immature, manipulative assholes. Goes right along with the “once an asshole, always an asshole”. That disabled kid has got problems. In the mind.
So many new story lines developing. I love Jean’s. And that short conversation between Jakob and Otis. Jakob could be the father figure Otis never had. He’s super annoying but also so very caring.
Feeling really sad about the “losers” of this season though. Shitty things happening to the best people.
I knew that at one time or another I would start to hate this Isaac for real.
The final scene with the girls at the bus with Aimee was one of the most beautiful and genuine things i saw in TV for the last years! so pure!
I was reading through the comments and was surprised that some people think Otis is trash this season... Literally the party scene was the only one where he did wrong so far. He's been dealing with his mom and Jakob's relationship (+ Jakob's personality), Ola, Maeve, his own and other people's sex-related problems for a long time - who wouldn't explode at some point?
Just like how Jackson had enough of one of his mother's dictatorship and almost broke down (well, technically with the self-harm he already did) and how Eric stood up face-to-face to Adam and told him his honest thoughts (yaaas, so proud! I was actually afraid that he would change his mind and back down, but I'm so glad that there's a character in existence who doesn't choose the "bad guy" bully at the end!). These characters had enough too, yet I don't see anyone bashing them. And Otis has/had a lot more on his plate than these two.
I'm conflicted about Maeve now. Last time I wrote that they're basically soulmates with Otis, and I really thought that... but then Isaac came, and now I'm kinda rooting for him? But I'm also rooting for Maeve just concentrating on herself? And also rooting for Otis to apologize and speak to Maeve about his feelings while he's sober?
Since Maeve and Otis are 2 of the 3 main characters, and almost the whole SE1 was about them starting to like each other, I guess they'll end up together, but it wouldn't be a first of this show to give things a twist and pair Maeve up with Isaac.
Jackson and Viv are getting closer, yaay! I mean, that was a strong gut feeling right from their first meeting, but it's still nice to see Viv starting to care more about Jackson (and vice versa), little by little.
Wow, Mr. Groff looks exactly like an older Adam in this episode. He really didn't in the previous ones.
