Okay, what the f? How did they pull this brilliant piece of cinema off? I am your standard hater of Disney live-action and I am pleasantly surprised they made me enjoy a Cruella origin film. Wtf. I want that little dog Wink. What a boss.
Great take on a classic character, unexpectedly good and with the best song soundtrack in a while
The soap opera continues with episode two. My expectations were nonexistent going in but it still managed to disappoint. We're only at part 2 out of 6 and this whole franchise is already tired and stretched out. This is a bit worse that part 1 on every level. Cringe dialogue and acting, still an imitation of many franchises, the set pieces are nothing memorable and the action has no stake because the characters and story are flat as hell. Time to pull the plug on this shit show.
To me, you are someone who leaves.
To him, you are someone who stays.
The film sits like a memory. It is possible to love your life and also grieve for the life not lived. Perfect.
I went into this movie expecting it to be bad, which is fine, I've seen bad movies before and lived. Having now experienced both, I feel qualified to say: this movie is worse than brain cancer.
P.S. The movie theater we go to was selling Aquaman 2 novelty cups to everyone who ordered a large. I joked to my partner, "You're gonna be wishing we saw Aquaman instead by the time we're done with this." I was not wrong
Can't believe I'm the comment with the highest rating. It might be because we've been starved of great romcoms of late but I thought this was pretty great. Predictable, but only because it does end how you expect it to. It did have me doubting myself a couple of times along the way though!
Romantic Comedies are f****** back and I love it!!!!
Blue Beetle movie is an incredibly thrilling superhero film that will make you want to cheer on the lead character Jamie Reyes throughout his heroic journey. The film brilliantly showcases the iconic Blue Beetle character and delivers an action-packed story that keeps you on the edge of your seat.
The special effects and visuals are top-notch, immersing the audience into the world of Blue Beetle, and making the action sequences genuinely spectacular. The film's narrative is emotionally charged and grips the viewer from start to finish.
Moreover, the diverse casting and representation in the movie are truly fantastic, with authentic portrayals of Latinx culture, and strong performances from the lead actors.
Overall, the Blue Beetle movie is a must-watch for superhero fans and anyone looking for an exciting, action-packed film with a positive message of perseverance, friendship, and heroism. It's a great example of how the superhero genre can evolve by bringing new and underrepresented characters to the forefront. Can't wait to see this movie.
I could gush about this for a long time but I'll keep it short -- it's fantastic. This is going to be a word of mouth hit because there's no one who leaves it who won't want to get other people to see it.
Quotable but seriously overrated. The best thing for me was the character of Inigo Montoya. The romance feels forced and superficial.
Amazingly unhinged. One of the more enjoyable MCU films in a long time
The haters are going to hate this movie. Mostly because they just default to hating Captain Marvel and Ms Marvel. Come in just looking for things to hate. But this movie is a LOT of fun. Go in in a light hearted mood. Numerous things had me laughing out loud in the cinema.
The end could have been wrapped up a bit faster.
And OMFG THE MID-CREDITS SCENE!!! OMGOMGOMOGOD!!! (there is no post-credits scene).
As per usual, Maroon 5 is the cause of all our world's problems once again.
8/10 great
I was going to go 7/10 and in the big scheme of things it maybe should be a 7/10, but I did really enjoy this movie….
I went into it thinking it would fill some time and be okay, which it was and did….
But then we got a film with a little bit more depth to it then your normal romcom, someone actually put a bit of thought into this film and the casting was spot on 101%
Went into this with no expectations tbh just hoping to see some cute dogs and because I'll always watch any work Grant does (og gleeks don't flake), but it was actually good and really funny and not a bad job at all at portraying social anxiety.
Really pleasantly surprised, very enjoyable romcom.
As an uncultured gay, it pains me to admit that I have not read the novel and I have nothing to compare this adaptation to, but my own expectations and this movie totally meets them. The chemistry between the two leads, the back and forth banter, the well-portrayed and sensual sex scenes; it is a 10 out of 10 recommendation.
that finale battle was insane!!!!!!!
SO SO GOOD! It was funny, scary and amazing! Who can hate on this film, it's much better then everyone thought it would be, maybe better than the originals! Not a perfect movie but it is a really strong 9.
Glad I take Trakt.tv comments with a grain of salt because this movie was quite literally a work of art. I’m a sucker for anything that toes the line of cosmic horror and Jordan did this beautifully.
Even without listing off metaphors or “you just don’t get it” statements this film stands alone as a slow burn tension building horror/scifi epic. As long as you’re willing to accept not every question needs an answer, and not every “otherworldly thing” needs an origin story, this should be a fun ride for you. This checked all the boxes of what I want in an alien movie for me.
Rated it a 9, but so close to a perfect 10. There were some odd character choices and I do think it’s about 30 minutes too long but I found myself not wanting it to end by the final act anyhow. SO GOOD!
I can’t believe I’m actually invested in a Spider-Man series now
The Dreamworks Renaissance is officially here. This is their best work since Kung Fu Panda 2 and the best Shrek film since Shrek 2. Can not fucking wait for what this studio has in store for the future now.
Man I love every time an action movie comes out that reminds us the genre can have depth and themes and true character work. That there can be style and practical effects and grounded action. In the wave of the MCU this is such a breath of fresh air. The action is slick but the drama and characterization work in tandem with it to create something truly special. It's a film that is inspirational not in spite of the history but because it acknowledges the history and transforms it and finds a way to make it resonate today. It shows the strength of these women and the culture while not shying away from its flaws. These black women are put up on a pedestal and asked- if not demanded- to stop feeling, that it is weak, a dereliction of duty, and the film gradually repudiates that while never denying their strength or more importantly their humanity.
And the cast gamely rises up to what they're given. Davis obviously shines as the centerpiece, putting decades of experience into a performance that is stoic, aching, charismatic, and raw in equal measures. Some of her delivery and expressions, from a wry smirk to a fond and exasperated roll of the eyes, are so good at grounding Nanisca and making her really feel like a person, just one from a different time. And while I had mixed feelings about Underground Railroad, Mbedu was never one of them, and she shines here as well. The things she can do with her eyes alone are captivating. And Boyega is charming while being hard and pragmatic enough to still keep you guessing where he'll fall. But in a cast of greats, Lasana Lynch still stands out. The charisma she has on display here makes me baffled she hasn't led a franchise yet, put her in everything.
This film is a celebration of black women while never dehumanizing them. It lets us be strong and vulnerable, stalwart and hurting, devoted and loving, in equal measure. And it's a tight, fun time to boot.
This is how you do an action movie. Just the right amount of everything without being over the top. Spot on !
Ah, I love it when I genuinely have fun when watching a murder mystery! I hope they'll manage to write another extravagantly entertaining adventure for Benoit Blanc's third screen exploit!
Oh, by the way, with everything that's been going on with Twitter, was anyone else eerily reminded of the mercurial "Chief Twit"'s antics when witnessing Miles Bron's chaotic decisionmaking? I don't think this was originally intended, but that character now definitely feels like a parody of Elon Musk lol
the amount of people hating on this movie is crazy, its meant for children under the age of 12 so shut yo grown ass up
