A powerful telling of the destructive power innate in the cult of celebrity. This is a really well told narrative of the excruciating rape of innocents and the long term damage of kept suppressed truths. The story is told with incontrovertible authenticity. This is an important film, not because of the perpetrator but because of the heart wrenching destruction that littered his legacy. This is only two testimonies of what was probably dozens of others whose lives were profoundly compromised by one man, masked by an illusion. I think it is also a wake-up call to a society blind to the danger of building its hopes and dreams around, and placing its faith in, the perceived intimacies and hollow promises of celebrity. I give this film a 9 (important) out of 10. [Documentary]
Two episodes in the host is really annoying so far.
Fun concept! I love seeing how creative some people are...
However, the host is super annoying, it's all very awkward and some people are so over the top I can't stand it.
A perfect example of a game show that's good in spite of the host.
Overall it's pretty good. Not a classic by any stretch of the imagination. Some scenes could be trimmed to speed it up a bit.
Catering to the woke crowd.. there's an obvious and open (wouldn't happen in 1933) gay couple having spats in front of everybody. Think about it.. Hitler and the Nazi are killing/imprisoning gays and they are out there in the open. Please... if you're going authentic and doing a period piece, don't bring 21st century delusions into the storyline.
7/10
Halfway through episode 2 and this is so far very good. So much went on in such a short spell of time and I bet a many of us watching will see incidents that we forgot happened in these crazy few days.
Very interesting series, I went in believing that her parents were the ones who did it (after reading about it when the news originally broke via the media), but after this docuseries, I'm beginning to change my mind. It's a good series for those who don't know much about the case, and it presents a lot of different theories and explanations from both sides (though I feel it does lean more towards sympathizing with the McCanns). Some random parts thrown in there about the town itself and other things that aren't particularly even about Madeleine's case necessarily, which we could have probably done without to be honest. Overall a well-made interesting series.
Absolutely amazing. If you have seen all the films, all the series and many documentaries, you still can't believe how good this docu-series is.
There are 2 great things about this series. The music is excellent and the reconstructions are so well acted and done. They do not look like a cheap production. They are so natural that you feel you are watching the real thing. I wish they could have made a theatrical movie with the same actors. Hitler: The Rise of Evil (2003) maybe overlaps but it is in no way this chilling and effective.
This was a fun show..I watched this show with both of my daughters that are 4 & 5 years old, and they loved it and had fun picking out the real from the fake...I don't mind The Host he is interactive.
To my big surprise, I thoroughly enjoyed this show. It has succeeded where shows such as Metal Shop Masters failed: it has not only a fresh and unique concept, but also a good host and jury, likable contestants (who are cheerful, enthusiastic, and don't hate on each other). Baking Impossible has just enough episodes and challenges to keep the viewers hooked. I also love that the two pairs in the finale were the ones that I was cheering for. By the way, I hope that Cindy and Taylor got together after the show cause they are just adorable!
This show is great - love the dead-pan comedy they've inserted - it just keeps the story moving along nicely. didn't expect it to be this funny.
8.5/10
I believe there is a third season. This needs to be updated. I'm shocked by the various styles of houses all across the world. Absolutely love it.
I love cinema. And I have interest in how movies are made, why they are made and what were the intentions of the author. I always watch all the bonus features of a movie with keen interest.
But I fell asleep several times while watching this show. Mark Kermode's monotone, lecturing talking style does that easily. Plus, he seemes to pick the movies to proof his pre-formed opinions. Critics oftentime do explain movies in a way that makes me think I haven't understand any movie I've ever watched. They are putting explanations in that I am not sure were there in the first place.
OMG, this is terrible.. Please Yvette, return to Community, Dan knows how to make you shine
What an amazing look inside one of the greatest political strategy’s of our time. At times I had to remind myself they were shooting this in 2020 and not present day because they seemed to predict so much of what has ultimately occurred. Highly recommend.
