Watching this in a totally white audience was an experience. The little titters and nudges when 'make america great again' was mentioned, or about police officers shooting unarmed black people, or even one becoming president; to the we won mentality at the final phone call.
Then the deathly silence with the current footage being shown. I think quite a few people realised it's not just references.
These people still exist today.
They still have their rallies.
They still have their marches.
They still murder in uniform.
And they still hold these abhorrent views.
I think I even heard some people sniff away some tears right at the end once they saw the footage and heard the words of people who were there.
Enjoy the film; enjoy the jokes (it is a funny film) but make no doubt the characters shown still exist.
This is definitely not as bad as people make it out to be. Yes, it's not Interstellar. Yes, it's ridiculous. But it's also a lot of fun, and John Bradley delivers the laughs as expected.
So far most of the comments I've seen here have been pretty negative. Personally I very much enjoyed the movie taking it as a fun action ride. Yes, there's been plenty of time loop based movies, but the combination of the good fight scenes, little comical points and nods to other movies combined with the time travel aspects made it to me highly enjoyable. Overall I thought the acting was pretty good for this type of movie from the Grillo, Gibson and Watts and on the whole it was an enjoyable watch.
Let's remember, we never watched the old 80s movies with the classic action stars because they were going to win oscars, they were about having a bit of over the top mindless fun. And this for me fit the bill well
Can’t believe Cloud 9 is closed forever. Going to miss Superstore.
I believe this show needs a special kind of audience. Some of it's own breed.
Totally support the idea of being art, more than just entertainment. But doesn't have to exclude each other.
For people who have the patience going to a museum and look at a piece of art for a long time and making their own thoughts.
Nothing is explained down to the obvious here.
I will continue watching and would vote for a second season.
Very happy that things like this still exist.
Thank you, team "loop".
AMY AND JONAH GOT MARRIED. AMY AND JONAH HAD A KID TOGETHER. THEY’RE ALL STILL FRIENDS AFTER THE STORE CLOSED. AHHHH
Fantastic stories, great cinematography and production values, excellent performances and a superb soundtrack.
The focus of the series are the people and the storytelling, not the special effects or other hollywood super hero bs.
The world and the character building are top notch. Dark, mysterious, melancholic, with a nostalgic feeling in it. just perfect series. In fact, i can't find anything that bothers me.
This is art.
BlacKkKlansman is an undercover film, because beneath its brilliant sheet of light-hearted biopic lurks a dark satire of racism, all lives matter and Trumpism. It will sneak up on you with its dated 70's feel and then grab you with its arresting pertinence to contemporary issues. Watch this film or be doomed to repeat it.
BlacKkKlansman is so good that I forgot it was a Spike Lee film. More seriously, it even outshines 2006's Inside Man and the closing newsreel sequence literally had me sobbing in the cinema (my over-the-top emotional responses are just one of the many reasons I always sit in the front row). Not only one of the best films of the year, this is clearly the most important film of the year.
Well they knocked this out of the bleeping park.
Fucking hell, this guy is such an artist. His talent is unlimited, and that's kinda scary ... for him. I hope he stays strong. For his sake.
Much better than I thought it would be. The Rock and Ryan Reynolds surprisingly work well together, and Gal Gadot is just divine as always. It is a fair bet that there's going to be a sequel, the ending made sure of that.
Eddie Murphy is his name, and Eddie Murphy has upped his game. If you wanna see something cool and groovy, switch over to Netflix for this superior movie. And it's not only Murphy's comeback that deserves the hypes, because this film also rejuvenates Wesley Snipes!
Highly recommended!
That was a satisfying ending!
They better bring this guy back for a third season
He finally got a new toothbrush
This movie was an amazingly beautiful and immersive look into what it's like to be a child in what feels to us adults like a pretty grim situation. I enjoyed it and thought it was a great (unconventional) movie.
I may only watch this so that I can use it as a drinking game. Every time she says "Guidance Counsellor" you have to drink.
Yes, this is another time-loop movie and you feel like you know what is coming whole movie but I enjoyed watching the fast scenes, not so cheezy.
Mel Gibson has a second grade role. I hate seeing the old guns being the bad guy sitting just on a chair, bullying around like Bruce Willis. I hope Gibson does not take that path. Grillo is doing better than I expected and Watts is so left behind. Also nice seeing familiar faces like Ken and Yeoh. A fine timekiller movie with some 80s-90s vibes.
I have to say i enjoyed the movie, it's of course not the best one in the X-men range, but still it was enjoyable, with a couple of well known stars in it. For me the big bonus was BUFFY!!! I will see it again maybe not in theaters but defo watchable again. Loved the end battle with Illyana she was my fav one
Home Alone meets John Wick.
This was a very beautiful and moving film by Makoto Shinkai. As the title suggests, it is a story about a growing separation and the effects it has on childhood sweethearts, Akari and, in particular, Takaki. Even though it was only an hour long, by the end I felt like I was truly feeling the pain and longing that had dominated Takaki's life for so long. I was initially disappointed by the ending (what can I say, I'm a sucker for happy endings) but after rewatching the film, I really appreciated that they didn't go with the cliché finish. Takaki not being reunited with Akari and finally deciding to move on from his past, which till that point held down and ate away at his life, was far more powerful and resonated with the themes of the film. The animation, art and music were beautiful like in all Makoto Shinkai works. I can't think of a better way to spend an hour of my time (except, of course, maybe sending a text to my long forgotten fling).
It's sad that this movie is still as relevant today as it was when it came out 23 years ago. The black and white really makes this feel dirty and real, like we are there in the projects with the characters. The acting from our leads is great. The cinematography is fantastic. That mirror scene was amazing and I had to watch it a few times just to appreciate it. There are a ton of other cool shots too. That ending still has me shook up.
Wow. Just wow.
This is one of those movies that takes you on a ride from start to finish.
Joe Keery really shows his acting chops as he plays a rideshare driver, with cameras strapped all over his car doing everything he can for internet fame. From start to finish, he delivers an excellent, intimate performance.
The movie really gets amped up the more it goes and I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. There's a great comedic pace to it as well, that really carries the movie forward.
Overall I'd highly recommend it as an amazing satirical dark comedy.
I started watching Awake at 9am and finished all episodes at 10pm the same day. That's just to tell you of how gripping this show is and how much of a shame it is that it got cancelled.
Jason Isaacs' acting is beyond reproach, the story is intriguing and interesting, humane, real and fictious at the same time. That's just part of the duality of Awake. The change of color tones, partners, realities, and all of the rest amounts to a great jump between worlds and you'll find yourself questioning everything as you move along.
The good thing is that the last episode ended as a way that gives closure, not a lot of it, but enough for the viewers who invested in it to be able to move on. And even though none of the endings in each world are 100% satisfying, there's solace in knowing that he has the benefits of both.
This is a classic movie and it's one that everyone should see at least once. Now having said that, I must also admit that this is a hard movie to watch. This movie is heavy on the drama and while that is part of what it so popular, the drama can get old after a while (remember, the movie is almost 4 hours long!) There are amazing parts and it does a great job catching the ups and downs of life and the roles are very well played, but after the first two hours things can start to drag a bit. I like this movie and I even own it, but its just not a movie that you watch for fun or that you really watch very often.
Fragile relationships between flawed and frightened people in an era of authoritarian social pressure before instant judgment and shame became ubiquitous on social media. One of the year's best. Tune out the noise of the critics and watch it alone if you have to.
It's like Showgirls in a convent, and I mean that in the best possible sense.
Verhoeven tackles the church / politics in his own way and no one gets up afterwards. While the male gaze is very present in this analysis of a cult of personality, anyone who expected anything else of Verhoeven hasn't truly seen any of his movies.
As for the nudity in the film... 1) Guys, it's a Verhoeven film, 2) haven't we graduated beyond the grade school mentality of "Ooh, boobies!" when discussing film (or anything else, for that matter)?
PS Virginie Efira turns in yet another electric performance and Daphne Patakia continues to impress. She truly is an exciting up and coming actress (you have to see Djam / Journey from Greece if you haven't yet).
This movie is amazing. The way it shows us the world from a kid’s perspective is incredible. You see kids just being kids. You see kids being exposed to bigger issues without understanding everything. It also shows the struggle some people have just to survive. Even someplace magical, like outside Disney World. Willem Dafoe is fantastic, one of his best performances.
A powerful and connecting documentary, My Octopus Teacher shows that with perseverance curiosity can make an impossible relationship into a aeon of a lifetime.
How the connection with one animal can spread to an awareness of the whole ecosystem as well as a realisation of how one can transpose a deeper understanding of one's own life and change the daily interactions between family, friends and all humans.
Shot in the 4K colourspace within the glorious arena of the African Cape are wonderful aerial scenes, combined with underwater studies of a marine biome and the life of a sole cephalopod, My Octopus Teacher is narrated so well that it drives home the need for terrans to contemplate how best we as a species should interact and care for our pale blue dot.
I’m not going to be coy or clever here, Out of Sight is one of my favourite films.
Soderburgh spins the tale so perfectly, carefully balancing out tension and comedy. Everyone is working towards a big heist, but the real driving force behind the whole thing is a lust-fuelled forbidden romance.
Clooney and Lopez don’t just have chemistry, they set the screen ablaze. It could be a side-show in any other film but here the sheer force of attraction between the two is what steals the show. Out of Sight has one of the most erotic on-screen relationships in movie history, and it feels like it wasn’t even trying.
A true modern masterpiece.

FUCK YEAH I WISH I WOULD'VE TAPED MY REACTION WHEN I SAW CONSTANTINE AGAIN
