Avasarala.....
Her performance is one of the reasons I watch.
Never a dull moment.
Great show.
"i dont know you are but stand the fuck down"... Lol... Got to love her
So far so good, after 2 episodes. A solid plot, likeable characters, a mysterious mastermind and yay a Wookie! 7.5/10 to be updated as the series progresses. Oh, and a big FU to the morons who submitted ratings months before the series was released.
This episode will be polarizing, but we can all agree it was good, borderline great. No matter what viewpoint you are watching it from. From a thriller, to a romantic love story to sacrifice...Wow I got the feels from this one.
Calling out discrimination and preaching tolerance? The X-men have gone woke!
-some clueless idiot.
That song, "Everything Stays" and the montage of the various changes throughout Ooo, just cut right through me. Beautiful, beautiful ending to an episode that felt appropriately epic. Sure, thing return to the status quo, but that's kind of the point -- that things return to normal and yet the character are different for their experience. Marceline having experienced mortalhood for a little while makes her more empathetic "or something". The change is gradual, but there.
But that song, man. It's going to be rattling around in my head for days. Poignant and melodically gorgeous.
Now we're cooking. Cliffhanger aside, I loved seeing all the scenes from Marcy's life. Simon going away was heartbreaking. Her little girl companion was adorable and sweet. Plus, there was some superbly animated action with Marcy's fights with the fool and the wolverine vampire. I also enjoyed the music, especially little Marceline's song with her mom. That scene had a strange, almost Miyazaki quality to it in terms of animation.
If there's one thing this show does well, it's telling epic, time-spanning stories that pack in bits of heart without forgetting to be fun, and this fit that to a tee. The band of vampires Marceline has slain playing in a band together is an interesting twist, and I'm curious to know where they'll go with it. Plus, Marceline really losing her vampireness is an interesting twist as well. Excited to see where they're going with it.
is that non-binary rep?? I didnt expect that from this show but thats awesome!
A very good start to the new season. Adventure Time has often used its character relationships as metaphors for certain, less whimsical challenges (e.g. Marceline's relationship with Ice King being one that calls to mind a parent or loved one with alzheimer's). PB's relationship with her brother served as a nice metaphor for friends or family members with developmental disabilities and caring for them rather than judging them. The metaphor breaks down a bit with PB keeping him underground (though maybe he likes/wants that?) and using him to provide candy juice, but maybe there'sa point there about people who don't necessarily fit the typical mold for functioning in society still being able to help and be valuable.
There were also a number of funny moments in the episode -- the wilted banana guards, Neddy's shouting match with the crow, and "pretty quiet, huh?" I enjoy that the King of Ooo is quickly establishing himself as a venal nerdowell, but in an amusingly self-invovled way, and baby Princess Bubblegum was adorable. I hear the sound of a million plushies being ordered as we speak.
This looks like SyFy took a lot of money to create this show and it really payed off. It has a great authentic look and feel and the worldbuilding is intreaguing. But plotwise I have a problem. I have no idea what's going on. Whatever is happening failed to drag me into the story so far. None of the characters is remotely interesting so far they are no real personalities yet. I really hope this will improve in the following episodes because the show looks like it's worth it.
When I watched Dark Matter I was instantly drawn into the plot and was more invested in the characters. Dark Matter is produced very cheap but cast and plot compensate fr that. Just imagine Dakr Matter with the production value of The Expanse. It would be awesome!
Great series overall, really enjoyed it. Couple of unanswered things that I don't really get...
What happened to Vault 32 for them to go all crazy and kill each other and write on the wall, feels like there was an experiment but they didn't elaborate (yet perhaps the repopulation of 32 will reactivate that experiment next season).
Also they didn't explain how Moldaver survived the bombs, presumably she somehow got in a cryo pod also? It must have been from a different vault if so, she wasn't on the registry for 31.
Lastly, this is a bit of a plot hole, who cleaned up Vault 32 in that 24 hour period before they reopened it. Initially we were led to believe the occupants of 31 went in and 'cleaned house', but that clearly wasn't the case now. Betty was hard at work!
CGI trying to make people look younger still sucks! Please just stop trying until it works better.
This is by far the most interesting episode in terms of story and also character depth. It's the first time I really cared about these characters.
The main characters make such stupid mistakes at every turn, do they learn nothing? I’m liking the little brother’s story the most because I feel the characters and story are actually progressing.
The secrets of Vaults 31-32-33 are so far the most interesting thing going on, which is pretty on par with how exploring vaults in the games is some of the most interesting thing to do.
I must‘ve fallen asleep. Why did the Ghoul leave the head behind after all this effort to retrieve it back? Didn’t he even say something like "they digest very slow, we still have time"?! Which is implicating that he sorts something else out how to get to the head?! Nevermind, next scene Maximus pulling his guy from the creatures mouth. How did he accomplish that? Was it just the power from the suit that he could pull the creature's insides out?! Where was the Ghoul and the girl at that time? At one time the world seems very small - then again they be walking "right past each other" without meeting? Confusing.
I'm always amazed that the anti woke people don't realise The Boys is making fun of them
Victoria Neumann gives me chills down my spine. She's literally the scariest character in The BOYS universe
Started great, not so much by the end... too many disconnected and unexplained things, while not being interesting enough at the same time
Bro got humbled real quick
THOSE NURSES GOD MOOOOOOOOVE OUT OF MY WAY
Saitama training plan is here.
In episode V of Gen V, while the pace slows down, the violence and storytelling improve quite a bit. The director really went all out on his love for feet with this one though.
Sam interacting with Emma was actually a nice little part of the episode I enjoyed. I don’t know how they always get in that staircase area so easily though surely the guards are not getting paid enough or something??
Emma is easily the best character so far, felt so bad for her in this episode (saying that, the show is doing a really good job with majority of the characters so far)
8.8/10. Pretty wonderfully structured and paced episode. It's close to a bottle episode were it not for the trademark HIMYM use of flashbacks and non-linear storytelling, but more than that, it captures the vibe of friends just hanging out and ribbing each other over this and that. The A-story (more or less) about Ted falling into a destructive cycle with his old girlfriend benefits both from the reveal that everything he's building up to has already happened, and the twist that things are a little different in the present. Laura Prepon is a well-sketched out snob, and the gags about Marshall and Lily's enthusiasm for Wrestlemania or Karen "lingering" are the icing on the cake. Plus, the meta-commentary about not much happening in a given week, and Barney's glee at the slowly unspooling Marshall pants story is a hoot as well. Some of the humor is a little easy, but it's also quite cozy.
seeing them leave all that food behind gave me anxiety
I know it's ultimately created for kids in mind but I just wish there wasn't the child involved in the storyline. Why do they always need a kid in these shows to protect and move the story along? I am pretty bored but that doesn't mean I think it's bad. It's just not for me and that's okay.
THAT was no mere cartoon, that was art.
