it's exactly what you expect now from Marvel, a generic movie that doesn't feel like it has to try anymore. there comes a point when you can no longer suspend your disbelief with movies like this, characters like Thor, Iron Man etc getting thrown around and getting back up straight away i can buy because they are built to take the punishment, but when Natasha is getting thrown around, through the air and into walls with barely an injury to show for it, i can no longer suspend my disbelief. at 1 point, Natasha and her sister take a really nasty tumble in a vehicle which by all rights should have killed them, but nope, they get up and walk away from it. David Harbour's Red Guardian is wasted by being nothing more than comedy relief and also by being portrayed as a bad dad. Ray Winstone's character is quite frankly a boring forgettable villain and Taskmaster, or should i say Taskmistress, yep, they gender swapped him is turned into just another brainwashed victim of the villain. the action scenes, of which there are very few are broken up by tired family drama
Great movie. Andy Serkis played his role as Ceasar perfectly.
The computer animated apes look really amazing! I forgot a few times that they were computer animated, they looked so real. But according to a few sources no real apes where used in the movie because Rupert Wyatt (the director) wanted to show humanity's mistreatment and abuse of captive apes. Apes are the heroes of this movie, and humans are the villains. And Rupert Wyatt said he couldn't imagine a worse way of undercutting that message than by using real apes in the movie's production.
There are no words to describe this show, dream show :sparkles::notes:
The part where they said something was lame. Fits this movie. I couldn't get into it at all. Just waited for the end
Buried somewhere deep there is a good movie here, but the screenwriting, the budget, and pacing absolutely kill it. Many plot holes. This movie suffers from being completely half baked. With some screenwriting talent and some more money this could have been a decent sci-fi thriller, but as it stands this movie was complete garbage.
Ok.. let me start by saying, this was a good idea... Really from a scientific point it was a good premises.. Keanu is Keanu.. never bad..
But from that premises.. everything.. and I mean everything goes downhill.. Alice Eve is HORRIBLE! flat like cardboard.. only playing the "pretty blond wife"... the "boss" John Ortiz typical bad boss.. bad character.. FLAT..
The plot if loaded with holes.. I mean seriously it's a gigantic mess..
I can understand him deleting the memories of Zoe in the family.. BUT WHAT ABOUT THE REST OF THE WORLD?!?!
The whole Minority Report Interface.. is old.. outdate and simply put.. STUPID!! it makes zero sense.. the CGI is 1990's level.. The spent all the budge on the interface.. and the "robocop" is just.. nasty..
Probably my favorite version of The Christmas Carol. It's really just about a perfect family Christmas film. Michael Caine is able to pull off the cruel and miserly Scrooge as well as display the regret and despair that is so important in making Ebenezer's turn feel fulfilling. Add in great muppet versions of the supporting characters and some very good, if not great, songs and you have a classic. It has laughs, but more importantly for this time of year, it has heart and warmth. I love it.
I was glued to the screen. Brilliant.
It's Johnny English - he's back!! And your take on that will depend on what you thought of the other films in the series. There isn't anything new here, but... if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Atkinson still has what it takes, and his rubber faced buffoonery and slapstick shenanigans are still as funny as ever. Bravo Mr English, bravo!
It's a cool idea to cast the real life heroes. It's a bad idea if you want to make a good movie. They obviously aren't trained actors so this movie being bad isn't all their fault. The script is terrible. The part in the middle school infuriated me, it made no sense why the teachers were that big of assholes. And Spencer just had a shotgun in his closet? Then going to the training part was ok but then the European trip part was pointless. Just watching them go around Europe wasn't entertaining. Clint Eastwood dropped the ball on this one and was trying to manipulate you into feeling something by using the real heroes.
Had such a high hope for this one and while Scarlett and Florence deliver the story, directing and editing does not. This is sadly at the very bottom on my list of Marvel movies.
What an utter bunch of crap! One father and the daughter he never really met are among a few survivors of a global catastrophy, where billions of people died. Yeah, riiiiiight...
Didnt like the plot. The whole making a wish for what you want the most, and then realising what it cost you is a boring teen girl movie trope.
Barely any exciting fight scenes. Seems like a filler movie, in the hopes of a better plot involving Cheetah vs WW?
Wow, this is a great example of the true power of Hollywood marketing. Such a great trailer but a totally disappointing movie.
Ridiculously childish opening, boring as hell all the way. Just expensive cinematographies.
People who vote with good rating neither Saw ir though un other film. It is like Gravity, boring without argument and 2 hours of silents.
It's a pretty cool movie if you're all about the action sequences, quiet-kid-turned-capoeira-slayer, matching outfits, and SLJ.
it's all about style over substance and if that's something that rocks your boat. then let it.
To be fair, there were parts of this movie that were fantastic. Some of the effects, the fighting, and the scope were good. The problem is these things were not brought together well. They started plotlines and then just let them dangle. They seemed to expect us to have some foreknowledge.
In some ways it seemed like there were several different movies edited together. The whole save and brought up by a Terminator was just out of the blue.
I just didn’t get this movie. It was way too long. I couldn’t follow the story.
Ok...so I kinda loved the first one and was very much looking forward to this one. Did it live up to my expectations??? Not really...
Pacific Rim: Uprising is by no means a dud, but for some reason, it lacks a certain "grandness" that the first one had. The story is less interesting ( and to be honest, way more cheesy than the first one), the acting leaves a little to be desired, and the effects seem somewhat subdued. The "anime" feeling of the first one is also kind of missing.
Does that mean that this is an unwatchable mess? No...If you liked the first one, you should get some enjoyment out of this one as well. It just isn't in any way as entertaining as the first one. It's a bit more "family friendly " as well, but that never hurts when it comes to these kinds of movies.
These are one of those movies you just have to watch and make up your own mind. In my book, it's passable as an evenings entertainment.
If you're looking for an action and "turn brain off now" film, just don't watch it and spare us the 6-7 hearts review.
I for one, am very tired from 500$m crap like Indi Day and Marvel's poop. So I was very excited to watch this one.
This one is more like Spielberg's Encounters from the Third Kind. It's more about the characters in the film and the amazing journey they go through. It's mostly about the human behavior that will make you think.
While it's not an End of the World aliens movie like Battle: Los Angeles, it still offers great amount of military presence and plenty of stuff that's going on.
So if you actually want to care about an intelligent movie and use your head - go. Otherwise, go watch an X men.
Highly recommended for some audience 10/10.
2-feb-2017 edit: Just came out on Bluray and I saw it again. Definitely keeping my rating.
Watching again at July-2023, excited towards Dune II : Excellent. Excellent film. So called plot-holes listed here are negligible when the overall product is really thoughtful and masterfully crafted.
The acting is impeccable and the cinematography and directing is truly memorising. However it all feels wasted on such a long, overdrawn and predictable story line. I found myself waiting for it all to end, which it does eventually, just how you thought it would.
I love Predator franchise, but this film is simply ridiculous!!
"Die Hard" is a terrific example of what happens when all the pieces of a film fall together perfectly. There simply are no weak spots or dull moments in the film. Is "Die Hard" one of the best overall movies ever made? Probably not. But it's undeniably one of the best action movies ever made.
Just rewatched this AGAIN and I still get teary eyed at the end of the movie because of how amazing it is.
A well made film , great direction , good acting and the chemisty between christian bale and matt damon is awesome
Even if you're not a car sports fan you're gonna dig this one.
The race sequences were impressive .
Highly recommended. Great cinematography, soundtrack and atmosphere.
More details, no concrete plot spoilers but I'd rather not spoil it for some who want to go completely blind: First half or two thirds of the movie are amazing, dark without going over the top. Last half or third of the movie is a little weaker (adding a lot of unnecessary clichés that had been avoided until that point, costing it its 10/10), but still very enjoyable. Was my favorite Batman movie until that point, now I'm not sure.
Ford v Ferrari is an expensive, finely tuned machine that races out of the starting block and kicks into high gear until the finish.
Matt Damon is in peak form and Christian Bale keeps up the pace in this fascinating tale of the 1966 Le Mans race. Trust me, the +2-hour run time flies by so fast you won't see it pass.
Yes, I could've done without the grease monkey poetry, but any film that can stoke my interest in car racing of all things has got to be well put together.
(And, as always, go in as blind as you can and see it on the biggest screen possible.)
That was a lot better than I was expecting. The trailer didn't do it enough justice. I knew I'd enjoy it based off the trailer. But now that I've watched it, the trailer seems like it could've been a whole lot better. I feel like this movie will one of those movies that I enjoyed very much and the majority will nitpick at, and that's completely fine. I totally wasn't expecting what I'd call a twist, not completely sure if others will feel the same way, near the end of the movie. And the acting in that scene, after the twist was revealed, was fantastic. From both Mads Mikkelsen and Vanessa Hudgens. Especially hers. I was a bit surprised on how different she looks in real life as opposed to her appearance in the movie. She looks like a completely different person compared to her character. I actually think how she looked in the movie was more attractive than she is in real life, not that she isn't attractive outside of this movie. Anyway, I hope there will be a second movie as the ending did suggest the possibility.
