I can no longer stand the "stereotypical nerd who gets beat up in school" cliche, is annoying, really annoying to me. Someone beats you up and you stand there like a retarded? For f***** sake, grow some balls. This kind o writing was pretty popular for a long time, but this doesn't mean that this type of right should be rewarded.
My thoughts while watching episode 1:
- this is visually charming;
- how much did they spend for the cast?;
- mh, actually, visually, I like it less than I thought;
- oh, so it's a super super loyal adaptation of the comicbook? No, wait, someone told me there's a twist;
- jeez, keeping the dialogues exactly as they were in the comicbook is not a great idea. They are meant to be read, they feel really stiff in a visual medium;
- this is incredibly boring;
- oh, so that's the twist. I kike it. OK, you have my curiosity.
My thoughts while watching episode 2:
- this is incredibly boring;
- what? We are still at minute 15? Fuck it, I'm giving up, there's no point, I'm literally falling asleep.
Now, this clearly is a superficial judgment and I'm sure that if I insisted and watched the rest of it I wouldn't hate it but I'm at a point in my life where if I'm watching a TV show, I'm incredibly bored and I think the best case scenario is "I didn't hate it", well, I can invest my time in something else.
The English audio is AWFUL!!! The actors, especially the one playing Ramona, sound like they are reading the script for the first time out loud in their toilets and are bored as hell. The Japanese dub is night and day, it made me stop hating this and actually enjoy the show. The original audio should be marked as Japanese, since this was made in Japan, the Japanese voice actors are actually acting and the animation in synced to the Japanese audio rather than English.
People should give the japanese audio at least a try. They won´t regret it.
Tatort has been around for as long as I live and I have seen many over the years. Some multiple times. Individual episodes can be really good. Overall, subject to ones personal taste, they rate from completely awful to absolutely great. All of the episodes are closed stories. Within the individual teams there is sometimes kind of a thread and some form of character developement. The more modern episodes try to do experiments with the format that often backfires.
Lot's of action, drama, and mystery that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
I personally enjoyed the animation and OSTs used.
Some scenes will surely remain in my memory for a long time.
But most importantly...
"I've always been...the same as you! I'm human!"
A great story telling us that there is no pure black and white in this world.
Only the shades of gray you know and those that you don't.
"Like I thought, I'm the same as you.
I think we were born this way.
I keep moving forward
Until I destroy my enemies."
The first 6 episodes really make you beg fore more, but in the end it was a let down. The last 6 episodes were not about the main story anymore, it looked like they needed to rush the story and made this horrible finale. Even so, I recommend it, the music, the art, the fight scenes and the first 6 episodes are very good.
I honestly wish I could watch this all over again for the first time. The storytelling blew my mind in a very unexpected way. The fact that all the plot twists leading up to the major plot twist were all distractions (with substance, not just distractions for the sake of it) to keep you from making the realization early on? Simply masterful. I went into this thinking it was just a story of humans vs. titans and what I got is so much better.
My favourite show of all time. While there’s some pacing issues early on, and a handful of things are translated weirdly to English (though this is very rare), it’s such a compelling story. Absolutely worth your watch.
First couple of episodes I didn't really like the person playing Ellie but by episode four she has started to grow on me,she is a good little actress and I'm really enjoying the show more and more.
One ep left so its safe to say this now. This is the best game to screen adaptation ever. I was worried about the casting, but moments after they hit their first scenes the leads are perfect for the roles. I love this show and will do another play of the game after the last ep.
They managed to do the ending a perfect 1:1 adaptation, so I am really glad about that. Also, finally a good adaptation of a videogame and not the trash we are used to see adapted.
Episode 3 was beautiful, I cried like a child, it's great to see a love story told so beautifully even in the context of the end of the world, it was beautiful and it's over.
to anyone complaining about a gay relationship on a show, grow up maybe go outside and touch the grass for a bit, there are more important matters in real life than a couple
fictional, watch a newspaper every now and then to see the world's real problems.
I am one of those who went into this show without have played the game or know much about the game. I must say that I really love this show! I'm hooked as hell!
Don't know what every muppet is complaining about.This show is superb and it ain't full of woke shit,it's one of the best shows to hit our screens in the last few years.
Wow, this series has everything to become better and better. Very well structured story, in addition to the excellent CGI and script.
Honestly speaking, this is an amazing anime. I am seriously waiting for each and every episode to find out what will happen or can happen again. It has been a while since I was this excited for an anime.
So far I'm enjoying this series. It isn't without its problems (and is probably hyped more than it deserves), but I am still finding it genuinely enjoyable and at times unexpected. The combat scenes generally are fast, well animated and exciting. I also love the soundtrack. Some of the songs are really good (composed by the same guy who did the Guilty Crown one, I believe). Also, Mikasa is badass.
Things I'm not enjoying: Whilst the combat scenes look epic, the rest is fairly lacking. The backgrounds are especially bad, there is a LOT of copypasta, and I normally don't notice stuff like this. Seriously, look at any of the scenes with crowds or lots of buildings and you will see some VERY obvious copypaste. Spending so much time/money on the combat scenes has obviously affected the budget elsewhere in other ways too. There are a lot of still images when people are talking etc. Fairly standard in anime anyway I guess, but it's just a lot more noticeable here when compared to the aforementioned action scenes. And of course, there's the angst, which I could do with much less of. It's one thing to establish that mankind is on the losing side, but sometimes it really goes overboard with the "waaah waaah, we're done for" scenes. Finally, Eren is an annoying protagonist. He seems to have two modes: Angsty and Angry.
In spite of all this, as I said, I'm still enjoying this series. It's just not quite as amazing as it perhaps could be.
One of the best anime I've ever seen, if you want a good story combined with mystery you should definitely SEE IT.
Waiting long for the last season...
I'd hesitate to call this show an action anime as its real appeal is in its mystery. The first season bombastically introduces us to the world of Attack on Titan, where everyone is boxed in to protect themselves from giant mysterious monsters. As the story continues in the later seasons, the story matures like fine wine, answering mysteries while bringing up new ones in a completely believable fashion. The plot twists in this show are so well done that re watching is basically a must as you get an entirely new feeling after knowing what is actually going on behind the scenes.
It's hard to put into words how amazing this anime is. As someone who doesn't watch a lot of anime, Attack on Titan feels accessible to any (mature) audience that can handle a great deal of violence and gore.
It has everything a good show should:
- Phenomal soundtrack and score
- Complex plot and political landscape
- Grounded and relatable characters
- Grand reveals and plot twists you never see coming
- Masterful foreshadowing that you only pick up on on a rewatch
- Beautiful animation with a mix of 2D and CGI
This show is an absoulute masterpiece. As an anime-only fan, I can't wait to see how it all ends.
Another hyped social media tv show, really not that good, when the “vips” came in it was a no no for me. That was such bad acting.
But i know all you netflix users have 0 good stuff so every new show is hyped.
Don’t trust the good reviews. 80% of this show is the equivalent of watching paint dry. You. Will. Feel. Every. Minute. That. Passes. Unnecessarily long and boring.
And here it is: the end of the biggest television show of all time.
Seasons 1-4 are (close to) perfect.
Seasons 5-6 are where some of the cracks start to appear, with some filler episodes that don't build a lot of character. However, they're still great seasons nonetheless.
Seasons 7-8 are good, not great. They have certain pacing (rushed developments, teleportation of characters) and writing issues (plot armour, unsatisfying & unearned conclusions etc.). It is especially the level of production that elevates these seasons above average television.
Am I also unsatisfied with how they handled certain characters at the very end? Absolutely.
Do I think, however, that they mostly stuck the landing? Yes.
S1: 9.5/10; S2: 9/10; S3: 9.5/10; S4: 10/10; S5: 8/10; S6: 8/10; S7: 7/10; S8: 7/10
Overall rating: 8.4/10
Season1 I would rate a 7, but Season2 really fell off. All talk and no action. Just a lot of dialogue where characters talk about philosophy, their perspective, their motives, or explaining history or dynamic. has grown tiresome.
I had to downgrade the rating form 10 -> 9 all is because of Season 8, this is how you almost ruin the best show in the world...!
Chapeau Breaking bad :)
Akame Ga Kill
I am in the mid of it, and I am deeply impressed. It started a tiny bit slow, but not too much. It is quickly escalating to some extreme scenes. It is about a assassination group killing corrupts in a government city, supporting rebels to overthrow a corrupt government.
The characters are pretty extreme, fleshed out, interesting and come with backgrounds, they don't feel like they are thrown in lovelessly.
There is an openly gay character, a possibly hinting lesbian and trans character, but unlike most animes, I like that they are merely making it one attribute of the characters, instead of the defining one. That guy dude is a bastard of a fighter and is surely remembered by the audience for that and his motivational words!
It is also pretty brutal, for that matter. Albeit so far, still miles away from the likes of Hellsing Ultimate.
Familiar to: Hunter X Hunter, Black Bullet, Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood
Rating: 10/10
Tokyo Ghoul is one hell of a disappointing adaptation and thus fits in perfectly in the season... Who ever did the planning on this failed miserably leaving the anime rather flawed.
Without having read the manga we apparently get like 70+ chapters in just 12 episodes but it isn't just that - the arcs are not in order. As a result the characterizations are suffering and I can't say the story had a good flow. They pretty much picked out the action and went with that. Only in the last episode we got to see some of the inner workings but it's not like that cleared anything up. Just like the manga this week the anime ended on a cliffhanger although that is still better than trying to do an original end. The story seems to have some interesting ideas but with the manga now having no clear outcome either you can't even say "read the manga"...
Production wise the show was alright although suffering from ever present censorship of the gore or even leaving out certain mutilations.
With the uncertain future of TG's story I would not recommend checking it out.
