/u/StopReadinMyUsername on reddit created a list called "1001 'GREATEST' MOVIES OF ALL TIME" in 2015.

Since this list is still very popular, he posted an updated list on reddit in April 2020.

For this list he combined the average scores from IMDb, Letterboxd, Rotten Tomatoes & Metacritic, and tweaked the results with data from Letterboxd, iCheckMovies, TSPDT?, TMDb and IMDb.

From https://letterboxd.com/reelstats/list/the-500-greatest-movies-of-all-time-according/

Hey everyone, great to be back again. Some of you might remember a similar title from a list I made back in April, where I made a list of the top 250 movies with 13 sources, or a preview of this list I made last month.

I want to emphasize that this is NOT an official ranking nor my personal ranking; it is just a statistical and, personally, interesting look at 500 amazing movies. These rankings reflect the opinions of thousands of critics and millions of people around the world. And I am glad that this list is able to cover a wide range of genres, decades, and countries. So before I get bombarded with "Why isn't X on here?" or "How is X above Y?" comments, I wanted to clear that up.

I sourced my data from Sight & Sound (both critic and director lists), TSPDT, iCheckMovies, 11 domestic websites (Rotten Tomatoes, Metacritic, IMDb, Letterboxd, TMDb, Trakt, Blu-Ray, MovieLens, RateYourMusic, Criticker, and Critics Choice), and 9 international audience sites (FilmAffinity, Douban, Naver, MUBI, Filmweb, Kinopoisk, CSFD, Moviemeter, and Senscritique). This balance of domestic/international ratings made the list more well-rounded and internationally representative (sites from Spain, China, Korea, Poland, Russia, Czech Republic, Netherlands, and France).

As for my algorithm, I weighted websites according to both their Alexa ranking and their number of votes compared to other sites. For example, since The Godfather has hundreds of thousands of votes on Letterboxd but only a couple thousand on Metacritic, Letterboxd would be weighted more heavily. After obtaining the weighted averages, I then added the movie's iCheckMovies' favs/checks ratio and TSPDT ranking, if applicable. Regarding TSPDT, I included the top 2000 movies; as an example of my calculations, Rear Window's ranking of #41 would add (2000-41)/2000=0.9795 points to its weighted average. I removed movies that had <7-8K votes on IMDb, as these mostly had low ratings and numbers of votes across different sites as well. For both Sight & Sound lists, I added between 0.5 and 1 point to a movie's score based on its ranking, which I thought was an adequate reflection of how difficult it is to be included on these lists. As examples, a #21 movie would have 0.9 points added while a #63 would have 0.69 points.

Any feedback is appreciated, especially other sites I may not have sourced. If you found this list interesting, I would really appreciate it if you can give my newish Youtube channel a subscribe. It really helps a lot. Thanks guys.

A detective is an investigator, usually a member of a law enforcement agency. They often collect information to solve crimes by talking to witnesses and informants, collecting physical evidence, or searching records in databases. This leads them to arrest criminals and enable them to be convicted in court.
When you think of criminals, your first thought might be of someone awful like a murderer. But this word is a lot broader — Anyone who breaks the law is technically a criminal, even if the crime is just not paying a speeding ticket. You can also talk about criminal activities: things that are illegal. Lots of TV shows are about police officers and lawyers trying to catch criminals who are engaged in all kinds of exciting criminal activity. Crime Syndicate - a loose affiliation of gangsters in charge of organized criminal activities

The 21st Century's Most Acclaimed Films list serves as a companion to the They Shoot Pictures, Don't They? 1,000 Greatest Films of all time list which, - by its nature - tends to have very few films from the 21st century in it. The 21st Century's Most Acclaimed Films list attempts to highlight and honour this century's most critically revered films and act as a sort of 'resting bay' for many great films that are likely to be included in the 1,000 Greatest Films list sooner or later.

In 2013, the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) invited 475 film critics, writers, novelists, academics, and other arts professionals to select the 10 most important films in the history of Arab cinema. They compiled the results into a top 100, which they published in a book, "Cinema of Passion." The book includes analysis of each film in both English and Arabic, written by 20 film critics.

All of the films on this list received at least 9 votes. The most-represented countries are Egypt, Morocco, Syria, Algeria, and Tunisia. See this spreadsheet for the vote counts, top directors, and top films for each country.

My dear friends & followers,
you may have noticed my absence in the last time, so I want to let you know why.

What is going on?
One thing you don't know about me is I am madly interessted into personal-development (emotionally, physically, mentally,&spiritually;) - I am literally pissed off of mediocrity! As Arnold Schwarzenegger said: “What is the point of being on this Earth if you are going to be like everyone else?” | "The worst thing I can be is the same as everybody else. I hate that."
I am constantly growing, I've killed one bad habit after another & build up new, good ones - resulting into the best version I am today.
Currently I am fighting my 2 greatest bad habits - consuming entertainment (movies/series) & consuming personal growth content (blogs,YT videos). Those 2 are killing to much of my valuable time. So I've cut it down to maybe 1-2 hours of episodes & 1 movie a week - and even now this leaves me not feeling really good.
Then something amazing happend - for the first time in my life I knew what I what to do - it made boom & everything in my past made absolutely sense, EVERYTHING! It's like Steve Jobs said: "You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards."
[Please note: This can not happen if you look at a display all day.]
The other thing is... due to being some kind of truth seeker I have watched a lot of documentarys, primarily about life, the system, space & quantum physics - it did hurt my brain quite a bit ;) and then left me shocked & amazement. Anyways... I've come to realize that pretty much everything we've been told is a lie - it's very hard to explain, so I'll move on, everyone has to find his own truth.

What will happen next?
Well... in a nutshell with this new perspective I am more certain then ever that anything is possible, all limitations exists only in our heads!
So I will put my dreams into reality, I will read more & as crazy as it sounds... I want to change the world.
And as you probably know "The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world - are the ones who DO." ;)

But don't worry I won't delete my accout & as soon as collaboration on lists is available, I'll add some of you guys ;)
I am looking forward to read a comment from you & remember "There is no spoon." ;)

So long.

Yours, Ben

Japanese Cyberpunk is a genre of underground film produced in Japan starting in the late 1980s. It bears some semblance to the high-tech and scientific Cyberpunk as understood in the West, however differs in its representation of industrial and metallic imagery and an incomprehensible narrative. The genre is primarily defined by the movie Tetsuo: The Iron Man. (Wikipedia)
