Bodies Bodies Bodies

I loved the end… as in when it was over.

This movie wasn’t good. I laughed once the entire movie, and I don’t think the part that made me laugh was supposed to be humorous.

This isn’t even “so bad it’s good.” It’s just bad. L

School's Out!

I am a huge Degrassi TNG fan, and I’ve been making my way through the earlier franchises.

Fun fact: this movie is the first and second time the F-word was dropped on Canadian tv.

I loved this entire journey, including School’s Out. It’s very Joey heavy, but lots of the favorites are around, too.

All in all, this was a great send off to these characters (some we see in minor storylines in DNG!), and I enjoyed the early 90s of it so.

It did need more Zit Remedy, though…

This was so stupid. I loved it. Hilarious and dumb.

Maybe it’s my fault for having expectations. Not even really high ones. But expectations nonetheless.

The animation was neat (the background was particularly neat in my opinion). There were two catchy songs that I already forgot.

I really liked the end. As in the credits - the animation there was fun. And they did tie it to other movies/universes and I really thought that was clever.

Not clever enough to want to rewatch.

American Assassin

I have a high tolerance for boring movies. Especially when the movie has a handsome lead. But this was too much even for me.

The first few minutes were shocking! More violent than I expected but set the tone for an action packed revenge movie. Then it slowly went downhill to the point I stopped watching. My husband, who does not fancy Dyan O’Brien but DOES love action movies lasted a bit longer than me.

DNF. Don’t even care to google the end. It was boring.

I sure hope the book is better bc boy howdy this movie was lame. Some of the special effects were cool but then even that couldn’t save it. Yawn fest.

Lisa Frankenstein

I didn’t like this. I’m completely shocked at that. I expected to love this movie. Late 80s. Frankenstein. Comedy horror. Diablo Cody. That’s a recipe for a movie I’d love!

But I didn’t like it. It was boring at parts. Trying too hard at others. Not funny enough. Not scary at all. I just thought it was lame.

Dream Scenario

What a weird, weird, weird movie. It had some funny parts but it was just confusing. Not in a mind f type of way. More like a “well… what was the point of that?”

Nic Cage played the part of a cringey old man very well!

I thought maybe this movie was a social commentary on… something? Hive mind, I guess? Cancel culture, perhaps? But it had no meaning, no explanation, no resolution.

It was just an awkward movie that never quite grew into itself. Weird, weird, weird.

Freaky Friday

I only watched this movie because I really enjoy the 2003 version. And I’m so glad I did! I liked it even more than the LiLo-Jamie Lee Curtis version.

Barbara Harris absolutely blew me away. Jodie Foster apparently has always been talented.

This was seriously laugh out loud funny. It’s corny as hell but in the best way. I am definitely going to watch this goofy movie again whenever I need a pick me up.

Zombie Town

As an elder millennial, I have been hardwired to love all things Goosebumps. Plus this has Dan Aykroyd! Recipe for fun afternoon.

This movie is about 35 minutes too long. It has some fun campy parts but it doesn’t have enough charm. I loved Lando. He’s hysterical. Amy, played by young Sarah Jessica Parker(I jest but looks like her), is the most annoying character. She’s unbearable (and my threshold for annoyance by those lacking frontal lobes is pretty high). I guess that means the actress did a great job because man does she pull it off.

This didn’t quite capture the Scholastic Bookfair or the ‘90s TV show nostalgia. I wasn’t expecting anything brilliant, but maybe I had underlying hope because of the brilliance of the Goosebumps show that released last year…

TAYLOR SWIFT | THE ERAS TOUR

Full disclosure: I am a Swiftie. One who didn’t want to spend all that money to be around all those screaming people in the stadiums (or the movie theater, to be honest), and didn’t watch the internet videos that people posted - so I’m only just now watching it on the comfort of my own couch.

This was better than I could have imagined. Yes, I loved the music but it was way more than that.

The sets - holy moly. In-freakin-credible. Whoever designed them is a genius. More than a show, this was an experience for sure.

Her back up dancer Kameron steals the show. I don’t even need to tell you who he is, you’ll know. He’s perfection in human form and he deserves all the success.

And finally - 3.5 hours?!?! But… how?!!! She did this every weekend!! I got tired just watching this.

Poor Things

I really loved this movie. Which surprised me because I expected to not like it. But I really did enjoy it.

The acting was really great. Emma Stone and William Defoe blew it out the water. She definitely deserved that Oscar.

The effects were interesting. I did enjoy the contrasts from black/white to vibrant color. I thought it was impressively well done.

The sex scenes were plentiful but they played a part in the plot. It wasn’t gratuitous. Well, maybe someone can argue it was at least a bit. But it was definitely a plot piece. And probably some social commentary but I just want to use movies as an escapism, so read another review for that.

All in all, a brilliant movie. Fantastic performances. Impressive. If you’re not a minor and not ashamed of the human body/natural impulses, give it a go.

Wonka

I did not have high expectations. The OG movies terrified me as a child. And I am not obsessed with Timothee like the majority of people I know. Plus I have to be in the mood for musicals…

That being said, what a magical journey.

This movie was spectacular from start to finish. The music was great, but not overwhelmingly present. The story line fascinating. Absolutely enjoyed every minute. Perfect casting. I have l no complaints whatsoever.

I loved this movie. By far the best movie I’ve seen in 2024. I really hope they continue this series. I can’t wait to see how Timothee’s Willy becomes Gene Wilder’s Wonka.

Not even John Cena could save this terrible bag of flaming dog poo.

Deplorable characters with absolutely no redeeming qualities (except Wes). Barely any comedic parts. Just a terrible movie from start to finish.

I love stupid, absurd comedies. But this was complete and utter rubbish.

Incredible cast. Absolutely phenomenal casting.

I must not the intended audience of this movie… or maybe everyone else is just saying they like this to sound smart?

Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken

The parts that were cute were fun and adorable. The rest - lame.

Okay to be on in the background while you clean your house on a Sunday morning. But that’s about it.

The Marvels

I think the intended audience is younger than me, which explains why it didn’t hit home for me.

However what I DID love, I sure loved a lot: Kamala, the Flerkins, and the mid-credit scene.

I think it’s a fun, fast paced movie, and it will knock it out of the park for the more youthful crowd. I just think I’ve become more of a “get off my lawn you wacky kids!” than “how do you do, fellow kids?” and that’s not The Marvel’s fault.

2 stars because of the young girl in the movie. She’s a great actress and I’m glad she’s still doing great things. But boy howdy this movie was boring. Very flat and slow and just plain not good.

Freaky Friday

I thought I had seen this movie, but maybe I thought I was too “cool” when this came out my senior year of high school. Because trust me when I say I woulda remembered CMM with that skater haircut!!!

Watching this now, I expected to roll my eyes. But I loved it. The music was great. It was nice to see LiLo in her first prime (rooting for her comeback). And you know that Jamie Lee Curtis knocked this out of the park. I also loved Mark Harmon (even though I am so uncomfortable that I found him attractive and the unbelievable fact I am currently closer to his age in this movie than I am to CMM).

All in all, this was fun. Great soundtrack. Glad I took the time to give it a shot. I’ll try the original one now!

Leave the World Behind

Well. That was something, I guess.

First off, the cinematography… that was a choice. It tried to be edgy and fancy and it just gave me a headache.

The story… it had a lot of options here. I didn’t know where they were going with it. Honestly I am still a little confused at what the director/writer created, but alas here we are.

The characters were mostly insufferable. But that means the acting was good, right?

All in all, I will never watch this movie again.

:asterisk_symbol::asterisk_symbol::asterisk_symbol::asterisk_symbol:WARNING: keep your sound remote next to you at all times. In addition to extremely loud soundtrack during the beginning, there is a high pitch noise during the movie that is excruciating.:asterisk_symbol::asterisk_symbol::asterisk_symbol:

Family Switch

Decent movie. Not great, not great at all. The funniest parts are on the trailer, minus a handful of other scenes that made me chuckle.

Will I watch it again? Definitely not. Do I regret the last 2 hours? Nah.

A Haunting in Venice

Poirot is at it again! Interesting movie. The acting was great. Agatha Christie created some great stories.

I do have some questions that’ll never get answered. but overall, I did enjoy it.

Leo

I woulda liked this A LOT more if it wasn’t a musical. I love musicals but this being a musical took something from it, in my opinion.

The story was cute. Leo is adorable.

Just be prepared for a LOT of singing.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

Really great story line and I liked the different styles of animation. I am really looking forward to where the story goes from here. There are some parts that a nods at other spiderman movies - that was a lot of fun.

My husband couldn’t watch the animation because it triggered a headache, so be forewarned.

Last Christmas

Fantastic cast: Emma Thompson, Michelle Yeoh, Emilia Clarke, Henry Golding, Emilia Clarke’s eyebrows. Not to mention, great sound track à la George Michael.

I was going to say the movie was mediocre at best. However, it did make me sob like a baby. That says more about me than the movie (I’m a crybaby). But it’s a good movie to watch one time and move on. It’s got a nice meaning and awesome acting.

Also: LOL - Last Christmas I gave you my heart. Cannot determine if that’s clever or lazy, but after I finished crying I had a good laugh at that..

The Neighbors

Bingeing this show because it’s going off Hulu in a week. I LOVE it. I’m so sad it is only two seasons.

It’s so goofy. But it’s fantastic for belly laughs. Can it be cringe? Heck yeah. But it’s worth it.

Humans - TNLBTAFTW! (They never learn but they are fun to watch)

Fool's Paradise

I love Charlie Day. The cameos in this movie are great. The movie was silly - but that’s the point. It was a social commentary of the ridiculousness of Hollywood. I really enjoyed it. It’s good for a bunch of laughs.

Dashing Through the Snow

Cute movie! I really enjoyed the adult actors... it was fun. The little girl was way over the top and annoyed me (sorry if that’s mean, but I would have wanted that warning!). All in all, a decent Christmas movie with a fantastic soundtrack.

Five Nights at Freddy's

As someone who works with kids, everything I know about FNAF is against my own will.

The movie was silly. When it tried to be scary it was laugh at loud funny.

It was both too fast and too slow. Clearly I am not the indended audience - which makes sense.

BUT. Matthew Lillard. :clap_tone1::clap_tone1::clap_tone1::clap_tone1: He is so underrated. What a brilliant actor. Love him.
