This too early to have a filler episode. Waste of an hour. Watch the first 5 mins and last 5 mins. Rest has zero value to story progression.

How sad to have such a limited view of what this show can be

@whos_ur_buddha This isn’t a video game. It’s about the journey.

VIP6Jeez, the snowflaky reactions of straight white men because not every single episode and narrative centres them - anything deviating from that priority is apparently "woke". Get over yourselves, you egomaniacal bigots.
Anyway, another great episode that nicely expanded Ellie's backstory - bonus points for the Mortal Kombat II appreciation, too :nerd:

@2ls1t These are the same kind of people who would complain about black people being in movies one century ago. Deep down they know they’re out of touch and behind the curve, but it takes years to realize that. It’s fucking embarrassing, I apologize on the behalf of straight white men.

VIP5If anyone is wondering why this is a lovefest for this terrible episode, just know that trakt is actively deleting any negative comments. Even ones that aren't in anyway offense. I know because it happened to me, and has been happening more and more lately.
As my previous comment mentioned, This was a poor filler episode.

@antiwoke Stop playing victim. No one cares about your delusional anti-woke bullshit. And yeah, sometimes life is unfair. Sort of like how you unfairly hate on people for their sexual orientation. The people you are homophobic towards don't choose their sexuality. But you being an asshole towards them, well that is a choice. A choice you deserve to be called out for. So boo hoo, poor you, no one cares, now shut the fuck up.

@dw11 I understand that the world may seem like a magical place growing up, but I think you still lack some maturity if you think that acceptance and inclusion is about ‘laughing at gay stereotypes’. Maybe place yourself in their position for a second. Would you feel included if there were no straight white men in media, except Ron Swanson from Parks and Recreation? So only the most exaggerated, stereotypical version of a straight white man. Does that seem right or inclusive to you? Gay people exist everywhere and they deserve stories told about them, you’re gonna have to mature and adapt to that. Or you can just stick to movies and tv shows specifically targeted at people like you, but simultaneously leave no cultural footprint whatsoever, such as The Terminal List or anything produced by The Daily Wire. The choice is yours.
Recently, I read this interview with Kevin Feige where he said that the Academy Awards have a bias against Marvel movies.
If you ever wonder why that is, look no further than the first 20 minutes of this episode.
You get this long 10 minute scene between Pugh and Steinfeld which hits a lot of important emotional beats for the plot, and the writing is actually not too bad.
Sure you have Pugh doing that awful Russian accent again, and Hailee Steinfeld’s making weird faces as if she’s Kate McKinnon in an SNL skit, but that’s besides the point.
Look specifically at how they shoot it.
Besides the bland looking apartment, you cannot shoot such an important and lengthy scene doing nothing besides shots and reverse shots and then expect to get an Oscar (or in this case Emmy) for it.
It is literally the laziest and most uninspired way to approach a scene like that.
So, what do they do to mask the poor filmmaking and weak story choices (because let’s face it, Marvel has once again put out something with a messy and unfocussed plot)?
Just take a quick look at some of the other comments, and you’ll get the idea.
It’s like they’re dangling a ball in front of a cat, and it’s kinda embarrassing to see how effective that is.loading replies
@jordyepp you are not wrong, accent, bad acting, shooting irritated me too.

@ambush-uk l o l . .
A fantastic short film that’s bound to become the major highlight of this season for most, while also likely to trigger some mentally deficient adults.
One of its best qualities is that you could in theory tell this story with a straight couple , and it wouldn’t lessen any of its emotional impact.
It’s such an original, creative angle for a zombie apocalypse show, and Nick Offerman/Murray Bartlett both deliver career best performances here. If their section was a bit more fleshed out, I genuinely think you could make a great indie/arthouse film out of it.
I also love how it portrays a hardcore Republican character without making him some incapable buffoon, we don’t get enough of that in movies and tv.Ps: I’m pretty sure they used an existing piece of music during the marriage montage , I’ve heard it before but can’t quite place where it’s from

If you are referring to the music around minute 56: it is "on the nature of daylight " and it has been used in multiple movies like Arrival and Shutter Island .
This one doesn’t sit well with me.
So we should blame big tech companies for making us addicted to their products, and the nasty consequences that come of it?
I very much question that morality.
Addiction is a problem of the individual, something you have to fix by yourself (with the help of others).

@jordyep this is not a social network, this is a catalog site where we can chat with people. i dont have a feed where i can spread hate, far right propaganda, fake videos, sick babies asking for "amen" has a way to win money with publicity, im not making flat earth pages making the minds of young people into believing that, im not saying it would work on "you" but you know how the world is right now. i mean m shit... you have trump commemorating right now D-Day! how fucked up is that? . but you are right, im not forced. but i dont need to move to china, even though i strongly believes it SHOULD be controlled. i just dont have accounts. ( unless messenger to talk to work mates ) .

@jordyep I agree.. it was the same thing I said while I was watching. He did all that (including taking a innocent to suffer as a hostage), like he was seeking some kind of revenge, but in the end he didn't had anyone to blame, but himself. All this technology, and the millions apps we use every day, this is the world we live in. This is their job. They want us to feel addicted..this is the plan. Hello!!! It was like Christopher was trying to make Billy feel he was guilty of all that, when he was not. Christopher used the social media while he was driving. This is suicidal. I love the fact that Billy, the creator of the biggest social media (kind of like Facebook in this episode), was in a silent retirement in Utah...lol. talk some ironic BM vibe..the acting in this episode was phenomenal btw
Did I miss the episode that explained how Kate is so good at everything?

@riotaero My interpretation of it is different. First of all, what Billy thinks about what his company has become isn't very relevant to the story. It's not like if his company were run differently it would result in a less addictive platform, and if it did, then the entire point of the episode is lost. Secondly, I actually thought they emphasized Billy's guilt a lot during their phone conversation, and combined with Chris' story and emotional response (which is an attempt to make his cause more sympathetic), I got to the conclusion that the writers are on Chris' side.
This one doesn’t sit well with me.

@fly_ I absolutely think addiction in any sense is a problem, whether that’s technology or cigarettes, gambling etc. But I don’t think it’s the problem of engineers and producers, they’re just responding to supply and demand. Like I said, it’s a problem of the individual, not the company who just supplies. And if a lot of people are addicted, it’s a societal issue, which is when a government (again, that’s us, not the market) taxes or limits the production of addictive stuff in order to discourage you from using it. When it comes to using your phone while driving, I think pretty much every country at this point has a law that says you can’t use your phone while driving. If you still do that, and something goes horribly wrong, you have no one to blame but yourself.
It continues to look awesome. It builds atmosphere not characters. The dwarf scenes are nice though. Can't really tell whether the main story is any good. Let's see. Episode two is innocuous family entertainment. Perhaps a bit dragged-out at times (w/o being rewarded by a slow character portray or something). Thus, I dare to say, a bit boring.
Like everything LotR, love stories are told extremely dull. The raft guy is obviously attracted to her. Who wouldn't? But why don't they show her body in that wet night gown (or whatever this is)? Why do they let this pass? They could have filmed this very classy and not cheap at all. Likewise the story between the other elf and the witch/maid is extremely implicit. I mean I get it, elves don't behave like savages but to me that seems all a bit too American: violence is okay, but cursing and t&a is prohibited. Not sure whether that sets the tone for the whole show but I would prefer a few more romantic (mature and sexy) stories. It probably shouldn't go full GoT but a somewhat more adult approach would be very much appreciated.
PS: I like the intro animation.
