What's up with Jin Kang suddenly losing all her wits and intelligence by not just helping Moo Young but also befriending him and telling him all about her childhood?? All was understandable and realistic until she decided to meet him instead of just forwarding Seung Ah's new number (but not doing anything at all would've been the most responsible choice since even her detective brother told her to stay away from Moo Young).
Jin Gook and Jin Kang not being related by blood wasn't that much of a surprise since it has been foreshadowed or hinted at at episode 2 or 3. I'm curious how did they end up being siblings.
The other question is: how does Moo Young look at Jin Kang? Because from the posters and all their interactions he seems like he wants to get close to her, as in a romantic (or obsessed) way, but he once said that he thinks of her as his sister, or something like that. And then I started to wonder if they could be actual, blood-related siblings, or maybe something had happened with them in the past, in their childhood, that only Jin Gook and Moo Young can remember (well, maybe Jin Gook can't really because he's definitely older than Moo Young so he must've had some memories. But then again, if Moo Young has this amazing remembering power or photographic memory or whatever, he could easily remember what the other two already forgot).
This episode was lacking compared to the first 3 ones, and it had some confusing dialogues too (but that could've been just the translation's fault). I hope we won't experience a sudden downfall in this series because so far I'm positively disappointed in the plot - I've expected a whole another vibe from the title, the posters and the short description of the show. I'm glad I've found this!
I'm sorry, but are they actually this petty that they risked even SCALDING Jin Kang JUST SO MOO YOUNG CAN HAVE HIS HERO MOMENT?! Isn't that a little too psycho? I thought at least Moo Young's friend was normal, but turns out he isn't either, lol.
Now, my theory is that Jin Kang's brother shot (= killed) Moo Young's dad, and now Moo Young wants to take revenge somehow. Prove me wrong, K-drama.
Anyway, it's clear that he've met both Jin Kang and her brother in the past, a long time ago - but Jin Kang said she has a bad feeling whenever Moo Young is around, so maybe he did something in the past with them too? The only certain thing is that Moo Young is a creepy stalker, but not in a Joe (from You) kinda way, because Moo Young doesn't seem obsessed with Jin Kang - he's rather obsessed with some kinda revenge.
This series is so WTF, but in a really awesome way. Seo In Guk is talented AF. His funnier, more lighthearted roles in Shopping King Louie and Reply 1997 were similar, but in this drama he showed that he's as capable of playing the creepy, stalking dude character as the innocent, bit stupid, puppy-like boy or the bickering, but intense and loving friend/(SPOILER for Reply 1997)boyfriend/husband.
Asol and Woo Won Jae are so different characters, but they matched SO well in the diss battle! Their punchlines were amazing, and even that's an understatement because they had to diss little Woochanie. They did a fantastic job!
And vice versa. Woochanie and Nucksal were great as hell too! It was so good to see all of them smile through it, I'm glad they didn't seem to take the lyrics to heart.
Hanhae's rap was pretty good too, but he attacked Asol and Won Jae too, which I think may have been off-limits since his diss battle partner was Maniac, and the other team didn't step over those boundaries like he did.
I'm crying how much FBI agent Killa dug into Woodie's and Juno's SMTM pasts. XD
I've already liked Hash Swanie from last season, but now that he gets more screentime, I'm just loving him more and more. I don't know why, but he gives me the vibe that he's actually a really clever person judging by his replies.
Woooah, Ness keeps surprising me from one round to another - his creative punchlines are something else!
Even though I'm not a fan of Young B's attitude at all, his lines hit so much harder with him being in that angry, adrenaline-heated mood.
THESE 4 LITTLE GENIUSES! Both Juno&Woodie and Hash&Killa went HARD. That was probably the most legendary diss battle so far in SMTM. No more words needed.
Ja Mezz and Hangzoo? Fire.
Okay, even though he really killed it, I can somewhat understand Ness's elimination. BUT ASOL??? She was the second-best after Woo Won Jae! I didn't like Black Nine in this round at all and Maniac wasn't that good either, but they eliminate Asol? Lol.
Aww, I'm so sad because of Hash Swanie. :(( I don't like Killa's voice, but I have to agree with Zico and Dean's choice of taking him to the stage since little Swanie really couldn't find his spot on the stage - on the other hand, Killa immediately synchronized better with the producers and performed much more comfortably. Sadly I don't think Swanie's gonna go out to SMTM again, but if he does, I'll be his biggest supporter!
Woow, Ness just casually rose from above with his part of DoPark's performance!
Aigh... Olltii, starting old habits again? This time it's not the idols, but a bit older person in your own team? I really like Olltii, but he just needs to stop hating on other rappers. Everyone thinks Hangzoo isn't fit for that young team, but it's cruel to keep picking on him just because of that.
And what's with this sudden change of behaviour? He was so supportive and humble all this time, but now that he has a little more screentime, he just keeps bragging, sounding like he's so full of himself. Wtf. Is he really going back there or is this just evil editing?
Killa killed it! Well, actually I think all rappers of that team killed it. At first I found that beat weird, but with that hook... Oh man, that was lit!
I don't feel like eliminating Olltii was a fair decision rap-wise. He did awesome, and his mistake was so unnoticeable that it could easily be mistaken for an intentional little pause. (Of course, talking from a foreign person's POV. Maybe the natives could notice it more easily because of the lyrics.) Plus they would've needed him for the diss battle so bad, so eliminating him was truly a bold move.
I think (hope) their decision was based more on how Olltii behaved towards Hangzoo and Young B. And if that was the case, I 100% understand them. I wouldn't need a person attacking his own teammates either.
HanhAE, WTF! You said that that beat didn't fit you well, then you spat lines as if you've practised with that beat for weeks?! DUDE!
I'm not saying Hangzoo is bad or anything, but I don't understand why he's praised this much. He's a good rapper, sure, but a lot of people who made it in the top 35 have a more amazing voice and a more unique (rap) style. Just because he's in Rhythm Power...
JESUS CHRIST, OLLTII!!! The uncrowned king of freestyle. Period. (Also, I don't know why didn't I mention this before, but I'm 111% in love with his hair. Even though I hate pink. That's the effect Olltii has on me.)
Okay, now I'mma FIGHT all these producers who made Junoflo the 1st. I know they couldn't have known how many points will the others give to each person, but come on... An on-spot freestyle about the people he was in the same group with, or an LA rapper who didn't even show that much of himself? ...Yeah, of course the LA rapper. I like Juno, really, but this round was so obviously Olltii's that I don't understand Juno's 1st place. Even if it's only 1 point difference. Olltii was so much better this time.
Luckily Team Zico&Dean thought the same - I would've given Olltii the maximum 10 points too!
Woo Won Jae is awesome and all, but I think this cypher showed that he can't really go far if he always wants to rap deppressive, sad lyrics. His rap's meaning didn't have anything to do with the beat's mood, so it was kinda off for me even though his rapping was fine.
Can't stop myself from saying this again: I like a lot of SMTM3/4/5 rappers, but please, get out of the spotlight so other rappers can shine too! ISTG, they need to make a rule that contestants who got into one of the teams (= top 16) can't appear in the show again. It may be irrelevant in the first few rounds, but if you only take Olltii (SMTM3 top 6), Boi B (SMTM5 top 12), myunDo (SMTM5 top 12), Geegooin (SMTM4 top 10) (okay, he didn't pass now) and Microdot (SMTM4 top 10), they "occupy" 5 places if we're thinking about the top 16 for the teams. Only 11 places for newcomers. Hash Swan, Junoflo, New Champ (past contestants) or Penomeco, Punchnello, NO:EL (already famous rappers) - fine. They didn't really get far before, and they don't have that much of a fame to have a huge impact on the judges. But, please, stop these already famous and good rapper past contestants, or at least rename the season to SMTM All-Stars, if they want to function like that.
The other thing that really bothers me is Dok2 himself proving a differentiation between known rappers and rookies by bluntly stating that he wanted to give 4 seconds to the contestants, but he wanted to rush to Nucksal, so he gave them only 3 seconds. ...Yeah, 111% fair.
OMG, 2 hours 10 minutes?! WTF. ...Let's get it.
Wow. All of these 3 songs in the first round were pretty... average? Maybe only C Jammie's got my attention a bit, but I found both Superbee's and BewhY's song kinda annoying.
Ugh, I really don't get why do they have to include Unpretty Rapstar in SMTM. I know that they have to kill the time for the audience at the live broadcast, but I would've appreciated it if they didn't put the girls into the show. This episode is already way too long, why make it even longer? This should've been just 1-1 song from 3 rappers then 1-1 song from the remaining 2 rappers. How hard is it for this to only take 1,5 hours (or less) like all the other episodes? Don't get me wrong, I like seeing the boys perform, but if you're gonna extend the last episode's length, ask some ex-contestants to perform, not contestants from another show...
Aww, Superbee crying... :( It was obvious that he was gonna get eliminated and he's far from being a favourite rapper of mine, but he worked hard and he really changed (at least a bit) since the year before. I'm glad he decided to participate again and that he accepted his 3rd place with his head held high.
AWW, C Jamm with his sister! ㅠㅠ It's so good that they've shown us a bit of this side of C Jammie. Rappers usually act strong, tough and fearless, maybe even impudent too - but with showing clips where they are with their family members, the producers can also show a softer side of the rappers, what's probably closer to their true selves.
WOW. BewhY KILLED it. Again. I've accidentally saw the final outcome a few days ago, but even without knowing that, I think BewhY gave us the most amazing songs in these last 3 episodes (well, except this episode's 1st round, but shhh), so his... place is obvious for me. :D
THAT'S the stage for killing time I'm talking about! All these little loved and talented SMTM5 rappers!
I don't have words for C Jamm. He showed so much love and support for BewhY in this episode, that it really changed my thoughts about him. He just seemed like a goofy but talented rapper with witty responses and a funny and confident personality. This time C Jammie... no, Ryu Sungmin showed us that he has other layers of him than what he shows on stage. I'm glad I was able to see that thanks to SMTM5.
I 100% agree with Mad Clown regarding C Jamm's (or Zico's) stage. Zico stood out more and he maybe even had more lyrics in the song than C Jamm - and to top it all, C Jamm even forgot his lyrics which was really obvious. I like his rap style and this song better than #Gunnie's, but this time the tables have turned and #Gun actually beat C Jamm. (But I'm 101% sure that the audience will vote to C Jamm anyway. Can't wait to say "I've said so".)
Man, I really love Ssam D and Gray's duo. They seem to complete each other. While Ssam D is more talkative, confident and kinda boastful, Gray seems more calm, humble, somewhat shy and caring. The looks they share at the interviews show that they're really good friends. And how Gray quietly listens to and watches Ssam D when he's talking - or when he's not, just tearing up, and Gray hugs his shoulders without saying anything... These two are just magical. :') (And Gray by himself is a wonderful creature too. You can see that on his heartfelt hugs that he's a really caring person.)
I fucking love Bobby, but this was copy-paste the same case as C Jamm's above. Reddy rapped well, but in the very moment Bobby stepped on the stage, he stole the show and the song until the end.
It was good to see Olltii and Black Nut in the audience, standing next to each other. I missed them.
Yup. I've said so.
OMG, I knew Superbee was gonna win since the editors emphasized everyone's "Seo Chul Goo is going to win" way too much. Superbee's performance was probably the only one I didn't like. Neither of the songs. I don't understand the audience.
Okay, although I, too, think that BewhY's stage was the best this time (too), I didn't think the difference would be this much between him and Reddy.
Aww, maan... Even though I like Seo Chul Goo and I liked him last season too, I would've chosen Hash Swan. I usually don't like high-voiced rappers (or people, in general), but his voice and flow just maked me want to listen to him more. Seo Chul Goo has a more regular tone, and he even said that he doesn't want to freestyle in this season, so I don't know how long will he last with that mindset if he keeps forgetting his lyrics...
I totally fell for AOMG's shit. xD They made it so believable because they even recorded a part of their prank at the room where only the mentors are filmed, so I legit thought this change must be true then. Though I knew it wasn't gonna be One because I've accidentally already listened to his and the two mentors' song (Comfortable) when I was watching the last season, so... :D
Yeeah, so proud of him doing this well this time in the team song mission!
OMG, I can't with Team Illionaire... XD Flowsik should be a national treasure, he's so pure yet he has a voice as deep as hell and spit lyrics like it's no tomorrow.
So sad to see Hyo Eunie go, I think he was better than Superbee this time.
I just can't with C Jamm... xD He really acts like he just came to have fun - he greets the mentors and some contestants as if they were old friends, spits some sick lines, casually walks around the set, raps like a monster, laughs a lot and makes bros, destroys everyone's ears with some mad puns, makes funny faces to the cameras... He's just like a kid whose teacher parent brought him along to the school and he doesn't have to obey or behave as much as that school's actual students. :'D ISTG, I love him, but I also wanna kick his butt because this reality shouldn't be for rappers who already made it big and who are still a hot topic. I mean, there isn't a rule against that, of course, but that seems fair to the many underground or rookie rappers who're still ahead of being famous.
Aww, Flowsik was so kind and adorable commenting that he didn't like people getting eliminated after Jo Seung Yeon lost to him. Even though they didn't have that much screentime together, they seemed like they actually hit it off immediately. They sounded really good together, and I'm glad JSY could have an exit like this from the show. He was brave choosing Flowsik and they both did good.
Man, I feel so sorry for Tae Woonie... He killed it this time - I mean, these times. IMO his first 2 raps were obviously better than myunDo's - hell, myunDo even forgot his lyrics in the first one -, the third time it was a tie for me, and the last time I could really feel Tae Woon's anxiousness so only that was a myunDo win for me. That poor kid, after all those harsh words and all these nerve-wracking ties he had to go home... again. :(
AAaahh, Timbaland was one of my favourite artists in my childhood! So glad to see him. :3
I feel lucky that I started to watch this season after the 119 remix came out because I already knew a few rappers out of those 51 who appeared in that song, but a lot of (for me) unknown rappers caught my attention with their verses too. It's so good to see them here. (Talking about Junoflo, Flowsik, Kim Hyo Eun, G2, Reddy, Hash Swan and so on.)
Aww, Tae Woonie... :( I get that he wasn't good - especially for a rapper with a "best" tag -, but writing "waste disposal" next to his name... And then all of them acted surprised as if they were all saints, as if one of them didn't write it... People are just unnecessary harsh these days.
I'm thankful that they emphasized Tae Woonie's disappointment and sadness when the contesters wrote good and positive things about Reddy. I don't know if that was just because Tae Woon used to be an idol, but it seems like none of the rappers were on good terms with that poor sunshine. And though I admit again that he made mistakes too, I think Reddy's "can I try once more?" and then failing again (and this repeating for 3 times) was way worse than Tae Woon's quiet surrender.
Woo Tae Woon!! He's the cutest little bunny just jumping around and being glad for his all pass. :D
The same goes for Hash Swan and Sanchez. :3
I don't like how the mentors just agreed as one when C Jamm said he has come back just for the money and just to have fun. I wouldn't go that far to say I hate him, either, but I agree that in this case it's a bit unfair regarding all the other contestants.
In my previous comment, I talked about Seo Chul Goo being here again, saying that it was totally okay, and I still feel that way - because he was eliminated when there were other 20-25 people left. But C Jamm got the 4th place on SMTM3. Not even mentioning that he had released songs and was under a well-known label (even in SMTM3) too.
I kinda felt what One explained (or complained about), but with different situations. Since he's really-really handsome - maybe the most handsome Korean man I've seen -, I get how he must've felt (or still feels) about getting recognition for his face (which he was born with) instead of his rapping skills (which he worked hard on).
I have to agree with the contestants, once again, regarding Snacky Chan. He made 2 lyrical mistakes, but if it wasn't him, just an unknown person, the mentors would've eliminated them right after the first mistake. They had 6 seconds to push the button after SC's second mistake, Team AOMG's hands were on the button, but they didn't press it. The rap, the beat and the flow were awesome, I admit, but we really can't talk about fairness and equal treatment here on the part of the mentors.
Wow. Introducing American rappers may have been the worst choice of this show so far. (Except if they'll be Koreans living in the USA. Then it's a whole another case.)
I think I saw the poster before, but mAN, how much was I hyped when they said that Team Illionaire is back! Not even talking about my AOMG men, SsamD and Gray, and probably the first ever (non-idol) K-rapper I've listened to in my life, Mad Clown, who I still adore as hell. I didn't watch any realities featuring these last 3, but I've seen AOMG videos about those two crackheads and an MV-making video of Mad Clown who was so adorably awkward and quiet there. I'm curious how will they behave in a somewhat professional but also a bit more comfortable show.
Lol, people being mad at Seo Chul Goo for joining SMTM in S5 too is just ridiculous. In SMTM4 he got eliminated because he showed a kind act by giving the mic to another person instead of keeping it for himself - if that's not the best reason to try again, I don't know what is. Besides, it's not like he's the first one to try again. People are (were) just afraid that he'll more than probably advance this time too.
AAAHH, #GUNIE!! Once again, Mino showed he has a kind heart and a weak spot for his family by accompanying his cousin to the SMTM audition. Just casually. When he's been a known idol for 3 years then. And last's year's runner-up on SMTM. Because he's Song Mino.
Anyway... :D I was just as proud of #Gunie as Mino was. Maybe I mentioned it in a comment at No.Mercy (where #Gun was also a contestant), but I was incredibly disappointed that he didn't get into the final 7 who could form the idol group. I would 100% preferred him to Minhyuk then and now too.
The first round's winner was obviously Mino for me. The second one's too, but this time... not so obviously.
I don't really know much about Paloalto, but the thing is, if you're an idol rapper and you work with another idol rapper on your song for a rap survival show, chances are really high that your song(s) will be liked by the public. Because both Mino and Zico see things from a (K-)pop music side as well as a rap side, so they can combine their knowledge, style and trendiness to create awesome and catchy songs.
Than there's the other side, Basick, who's a 30-year-old man working with two known but also a bit older rappers. Although I became to really dislike - almost hate - San E because of his recent controversy with his song(s) and attitude (The Feminist, followed by diss tracks and childish and rude behaviour), I still can't deny that he has a unique style and he can be very creative with his songs. That's why I was disappointed almost every time in Basick's performances. He's got the talent it takes, but his songs just weren't catchy. And his last performance... I think that singer just made it worse. She sounded a bit off-notes sometimes, taking away from the song.
Anyway, the second time wasn't obvious for me because of Mino's little chit-chat in the middle of the song. I know he tried to appeal and be funny, but it was just too much and too unnecessary. Besides, these "cuts" only work in few cases. Like in last season, when Bobby performed YGGR#Hip Hop - he rapped a few lines between the two songs, and both his intervention and his "comeback" to the second song was smooth. But this season... I don't think anyone pulled that off.
This "Song Mino is gonna be the winner anyways" was really gonna backfire to him either way. Like he himself said, if he won, anyone would've thought he won only because he climbed on the back of Bobby or because he's an idol (too). Now that he lost, he gets (got) compared to Bobby. Again. Or still.
I mean, I get where this phrase is coming from (besides Black Nut, lol), but come on... cut that boy a little slack. He seems to be a deeply emotional person both here and both on It's Dangerous Beyond The Blankets, but he has to hide it because he "needs to look tough" for his image. Yet somehow people who commented negatively about him can't really see that he's a human too.
Basick deserved to win, but I say that Mino deserved it better. Not only did I like his songs and performances more, but the fact that he prepared from one week to another, from one performance to another impeccably while also doing his activities with his idol group - THAT'S the reason why he is a lot more deserving of the winner title than Basick. Maybe Basick won people's hearts with his stories, maybe his lyrics made much more impact on the Korean audience than Mino's... hell, maybe I'm too biased because I've been liking Mino for a few years now... :'D But I still think that he should've won.
At least Mr. Jang has common sense. I'm sure a lot of fans or watchers of the show found what Soo Yeon did heroic or right. But it wasn't. Firstly, it really wasn't Soo Yeon's job to punish that guy - not to talk about how severely did he beat him up. Secondly, I get that he was angry and wanted revenge, but as Mr. Jang said, he shouldn't use his mechanic arm and leg to bad things. Will he beat up every single person who hurts Yeo Reum or his loved ones in any way?
In my opinion, catching that man and handing him over to the police would've been enough. That way Soo Yeon could've helped in punishing the guy but without actually having to use the power of his mechanic parts. But how he handled things now just made me dislike him. A lot. Well, at least he got a scolding from Mr. Jang and reflected on what he had done. (Which still not excuses his wrongdoing, but makes him a step closer to a decent human being.)
I feel like Oh Dae Gi and Na Young Joo's relationship is a liiittle forced. I mean, okay, they work together in a team all the time, but I still feel like they should keep Na Young Joo a single character because of her badassness and independence. Also, Dae Gi's character can be so determined and focused, and it feels a bit ruined with his recent clumsiness. I preferred him in his more stern and professional phase.
I don't understand why do K-drama writers feel the need to pair up every character who are better off without a partner (from the show). For me, Na Young Joo would be an awesome inspiration if she didn't end up together with Dae Gi. I'm hoping for this outcome, but I believe I just get my hopes up for nothing (as usual in these kinda cases).
Wow, Lee Je Hoon's (who plays Lee Soo Yeon) English pronounciation is so good! He's become much more attractive with that voice. :'D
The best way to prove you deserve to stay next to your wife who's giving birth is to escape from the authorities (I guess here the airport staff counts as authority), take out a sharp object, fight with the staff and stab them. Yep, that sounds just about right.
I don't get why was it so important to watch her wife give birth that he threatened other people's lives who were just doing their jobs. Yeah, it's a bummer if you can't be present where you want to be, but I think the wife and the baby would've survived if he just flew back to the Philippines.
I'm even more confused why Lee Soo Yeon never mentions any of the passengers' wrongdoings when they attack him. I understand that he doesn't want to be under the spotlight and that he doesn't want to reveal his arm and leg to anyone, but he could've at least mentioned that the man, I don't know, tried to stab him or fought with him. He shouldn't protect every passenger doing illegal things just because he doesn't want the truth about him come out.
SHUT UP that Kim Yeo Jin plays Han Yeo Reum's mother!! I love that woman! I can't believe they brought here together her, Kim Kyung Nam and Nam Da Reum as supporting characers, they're all amazing actors!
I have a few unanswered why s:
- Why didn't Ae Rin try to explain that table-turning emoticon of Kim Bon's to Jin Yong Tae? Did she just leave the conversation like that without even answering anything back after Kim Bon offered to cook something to her? That's rude. Super rude. At least tell Jin Yong Tae something, don't leave him clueless. (Even if he's gonna be as heartbroken because of Ae Rin's choice as Yoo Ji Yeon because of Bon's. Better to deal with these kind of things sooner than later.)
- Why wouldn't Yoon Chun Sang or the scarface delete the evidence against them from that USB? What could go wrong if someone would steal that USB back with all the incriminating evidence on it, I wonder? sarcastically thinking emoji
- Not to be a rude b*tch or anything, but... Why mention that handsome-men-are-Ahn's-weakness when there are 2 younger and more handsome characters (actors) at the table than poor Kim Bon? xD I mean, the actor is definitely not ugly, but compared to an incredibly handsome man who's 7 years younger than him and a literal idol who's 17 years younger than him... Well... ^^"
- Why is Shim immediately thinking that Kim Bon is alive when he sees a post-it with his handwriting? That would linger in my mind, too, but he just ruled out the option of Bon writing that before he died in a second.
- And for the previous episode: Why is that really foreshadowed Ra Do Woo & Yoo Ji Yeon ship gonna sail? I don't want that. At all. A lot of times it's just better for shows to leave certain characters single instead of forcing them into a relationship with another one. This would be a great example, but sady I don't think that's gonna happen.
Tin went from mysteriously attractive to weirdly irrational in just a blink of an eye. He was probably the only rational and realistic character in this series, but I can't call his actions of this episode either overprotective or cool. There's a line.
Besides this, I'm looking forward to the TinCan pair. These two can teach each other a lot and have the possibility to open each other's eyes.
I'm still confused about this whole T section (Type, Tum, Tar and Tharn). I've read a comment at this episode's YT video about these four's complicated relationship, so I guess we're gonna find out more about it while the story advances, but I feel like it's too much drama adding this kind of twist into LBC's already messy pairs.
Also, it really takes from the story's realness that the characters are all from the same university and somewhat of the same circle of friends. I'm sure it could happen involving 2 or maybe even 3 people, but man, for 10 people to be hidden (or openly) gays?! That's a lot... That's why I don't like series (or novels, because most Thai BL series are based on Thai novels found online) where there are more gay pairs in one story. It just takes a huge chunk from the show's credibility.
Lol, a végén elég creepy volt, amikor Dávid leguggolt, a többiek meg körbeállták és tapsolták őt.
Sajnálom Fannit, sokkal jobban megérdemelte volna a főnyereményt.
Aand here we go again with the typical boy-boy-girl love triangle in Thai dramas.
Wow, Ae ran from bright daylight until it became dark outside. Crossing a football field diagonally. Wearing a white formal shirt. WTF is wrong with everyone who didn't notice these details??
Damn, I ADORE Good. xD You don't really need much talent for his role, but he somehow manages to be a sloth person without seeming depressed - and that's what's amazing in him.
When Pete showed Tin that picture of Trump (still cackling because of the name choice), wouldn't it have been better to just tell him his name? I mean, how could Tin dig up some dirt on Trump when the only thing he knows about him is his appearance? It woud be much easier to go looking knowing his full name.
Pond is growing more on my heart when he doesn't act like a horny 16-year-old. I actually found him really handsome when they were settling in the cinema, and he had a kind of pokerface going on just for a few seconds - like it was clear that the actor wasn't acting at that point, he just struggled a bit with sitting down. That's where I found him attractive. With a simple straight face.
God, FINALLY a series where they talk things out a little. Well, it was mainly Ae, but still... progress! Though I don't understand Pete because he's openly gay (at least in front of Ae), so he could admit that he likes Ae. For Ae it must've been more difficult, that's why he said he doesn't know. (But also, when you say you want to kiss a person again, I'm sure that even you admit to yourself that that's not brotherly or friendly love... :'D)
This episode wasn't as cringey as the previous 3; I'm glad they're making progress regarding that. Hoping the next ones will be around the same level of awkwardness too.
I can kinda relate this to WTD or 2Moons - they had a pretty lame main couple too, but they were worth to watch because of the side couples. (2Moons more than WTD.) The only difference is that while neither Bass and God nor Strong and Oreo (I can't with these Thai nicknames XD) could act, in LBC, at least Perth can.
OMG, the punches and kicks are even more awkwardly done than I thought. They should have more of that backpack-throwing action from last episode. It made me laugh so hard that I re-watched that scene again. :D
I wonder why is Tum and Type's relationship so bad. Seems like they have somewhat of a common past together.
Also wondering about how can this many characters be this handsome. Like some of them are 17 or around that, and they're walking with that much visuals on their face. Meanwhile back in my time, puberty hit me so hard that I became a potato and I am one ever since then. xD
Also wondering about who's going to be Type's boyfriend. I really like Earth's (Type's actor) facial expressions; he has this "I can't believe I accepted a gay role... again..." look on his face, and it's just too funny to ignore. :'D
OK, I get that most little girls dream of being protected by a knight in shining armor. But man, even if Pete's gay, they're supposed to be college students, not some pre-teens. Stop with this "I'll protect you always" kinda sh*t, and definitely stop portraying a gay character as a damsel in distress. It's just too unrealistic. Gay people can throw punches too, you know? Gay people can open their mouths if they don't like something, and they can even use their legs for running away too, if everything else fails. Don't act like Pete is incapable of any of that...
Random thoughts incoming:
- Too. Much. Cringe.
- I can't believe they're in university/college and a teacher gives them a punishment as sh*tty as that.
- HOW CAN POND THINK THAT PETE'S A TOP?? IN WHAT WORLD DOES HE LOOK OR ACT LIKE A TOP???
- Why does this have to be a typical cringey-sh*tty Thai BL? Do people actually enjoy this?? The dumb scenes which are supposed to be funny? The awkward touches which are meant to be subtle touches but are incredibly not so they turn into some awkward skinship? The shy, too polite and bullied obvious bottom gay character? The three even more obviously gay characters who are drooling over the previously mentioned one? ISTG, Thailand needs to step up its BL drama game because I've seen a lot of series and a few movies, but only a little number of them had really amazing actors, actresses and plots (and sadly those were mostly not-BL ones). I get that not every more-or-less handsome Thai youngster wants to take on gay roles with kissing when they're straight IRL, so they can't really avoid that part of the problem, but I'm absolutely sure that the producers could've strained themselves a little and thought about this plot for a bit longer than 2 seconds. 'Cause this "default Thai BL" plot is really getting on my nerves.
I'm hoping that the other 3 pairs won't make me cringe so much. I like Tin's character, but I've read who the pairings are going to be, and him with Can... God... I'm prepared for a WTD-like cringefest, though I really want to give the rest of the LBC episodes a fair chance.
I really like how they call Ae shortie when he's literally the same height as everyone else, maybe 5 cm shorter.
The actor who portrays Ae is really good. His movements are relaxed and natural, and so are his facial expressions. So far only he and Pete's mother's actress have real talent - all the others seem like it's their first role ever (as usual for most of Thai BLs, sadly). Even Earth (finally a person I know :'D), but I'm not gonna jinx that because he looked promising in Water Boyy too, and I've seen that he got at least one main role since then, so I'm hoping he will act better if they give him enough screen time.
The ones who play Pete and Pond are acting so badly and cringely.
Pete is one of the most typical (and most annoying) representations of gay people: the shy and awkward gay. I don't know if the actor acts too well or too badly, but it's incredibly cringey. Especially next to Ae whose actor is totally chill and realistic.
And Pond's character... well, he's what I would call the "typical gay in Thai series". Who just watches porn, masturbates and tries so hard to flirt with every person with a vagina, but he's just too stupid to think a little before he says or does anything. I bet he's going to realize he's gay (or at least bi) only after a kiss or two. Or even later. (Seen too much Thai dramas, sorry.) [Edit: Okay, maybe not this time, so it's definitely a plus point.]
On the other hand, that girl in the café was badass. I'd love to see her more in this series, but not ending up with someone, just for entertaining reasons.
And, like the other commenters mentioned it already, there were just too many characters thrown at us right at the start. I've somewhat figured out most of the connections and relationships, but some parts (like the one where two boys [one being No's little brother? maybe??] "traded" a picture of No for a drive in the other's car [sidenote: the one who is interested in No is really attractive; might be a good actor too if he gets more screen time 'cuz he seemed chill]) were just question marks all over my head. But I think that's a pretty common characteristic of Thai dramas too, so I didn't even comment on it at first... :'D
This first episode made me disappointed since people have been talking about this drama for a looong time now (and it has been sitting in my Watchlist probably since then), but I'll continue to watch it anyway. I just pray that the producers won't pull a WTD on me/us, because that series was the most disappointing one of this year. And it was as anticipated as this one, if not more. Crossing my fingers.
Gi Bbeum seems too childish and too adult at the same time. She's deadly afraid of water because of a childhood almost-drowning experience, she immediately screamed "daddy!" when those thugs scared her, and she always acts as if she was still a child, pouting and trusting a stranger too much. On the other hand, she immediately offered to pay for the things Ma Sung bought for her, she didn't back away or shy away from Ma Sung's flirting (as 98% percent of K-drama main girl characters do), she just enjoyed having him around - stating it out loud too.
The strange and new thing is that they shared their first kiss at the first episode's halftime. Which could be a huge, positive step in K-dramas (since most of them have only 1-2 kisses in the whole series, and those are always in the second half of the show), but regarding the plot and that they only met like a few hours before their kiss (and not in a blind date situation)... well, that's a little disappointing for me.
OK, what the F is up with these irresponsible, in-the-heat-of-the-moment choices? Tattooing that flower on his hand just because it reminded him of the woman he literally met that they?! We're talking about adult characters here, near 30-year-olds, not teenagers half their age...
WHAT. 34:19, WHAT??? Okay, I'm not gonna watch this further. These people really don't know how many cringey situations can one episode (and one person) bear. This is just ridiculous.
Wow, I didn't expect Chul Goo to give the mic to the middle school kid in a competition this fierce. I mean, it was really cool and generous of him (since the boy probably wasn't aggressive enough to steal the mic from all those hyungs), but I don't think they reward anyone in this show for being kind. ...Yep, they didn't.
I'm surprised by how... well, saying intelligent would be too much, but how mature did Snoop Dogg act. Everything I've heard about him - facts, rumors and his songs - are all things that put him in a negative light for me. In these 2 episodes he proved that he can be an actual professional with encouraging words and advice.
And I will mention it everytime if I have to - I'M IN LOVE WITH TABLO! xD I admire him so much that he isn't cussing everyone out, he just makes some jokes about himself and his team's unfortunate situation and laughs about it. :'D
OMG, I live for the MC when even he couldn't control his laughter after 2 people rejected Zico&Paloalto out of 3. (Not talking about Tablo and his evil attempts to lure over the contestants chosen by Team PaZi with YG's food tickets and correcting Zico's mistake - and his laugh when he was successful... XD)
No wonder why I love San E as a rapper and as a person. He stated and showed that he wants to be fair with Hyunsuk and won't choose CJamm just because of his name if they're equally good.
The other side is the Illionaire team with Dok2 and The Quiett's obvious choice of not even giving Toy a chance by taking Chamain (or Chamane or however the hell do they desire to spell it) to a barber, to an Adidas shop and so on. I agree with them saying that they can't really support someone if they don't listen to their advice, but I agree more with Toy just being herself and doing what she wants when her producers ("supporters") clearly do not pay attention to her and favor someone else over her.
I get that Chamain has a lot of potential, but Toy was the better during the lyrics-creating process and at the rehearsals too. So why not choose her? (I sense a bit of sexism and/or xenophobia here, but I don't want to jump into conclusions.)
I'm still a huge fan of Bobby, but man, showing your abs 4 times during those 3 minutes just to get more votes? I'd rather win because of my talent, not because of thirsty fangirls.
And once again, San E with his honest opinion about something people have been talking about and questioning - Vasco's choice of genre. I'm really glad he brought it up for Vasco, especially regarding that Vasco is older and he's probably in this industry longer than San E (even if he's more of an underground rapper). I 100% disagree with Vasco always trying to get out of these "accusations" with the same old "I've been doing hip-hop for 14 years. How am I not hip-hop? I'm hip-hop, no matter what I do.", not realizing he's clearly leaning more towards rock than actual hip-hop.
SPOILERS FOR THE LAST EPISODE: At first I was wondering how could Bobby beat him (since Bobby will win this season), but now I understand it.
It's also a tiny bit lame to mix two of your already released songs and perform that while all the other contestants rapped songs that they had created from nothing in these 3 weeks(?). Is that and inviting another performer allowed in this show? Lol.
It feels like I'm writing a novel here... Anyway! xD
I was surprised about Iron crying - but also not. If I had a win as clear as his, especially doing everything on my own, I would be overwhelmed too. (Though I still don't get why the hell did YDG have to abandon him entirely.) Man, I love Iron's skills and personality in this show - I still can't really take in that he was capable of beating (and even dating, lol) that pornstar-looking girlfriend of his. I can't believe what have he become...
I would've really liked that if they would've stuck with the original idea - if there isn't 4 contestants for a team, those 3 or less contestants and the mentors will be eliminated. Just let them be eliminated, FFS, don't keep giving second and third chances.
I know who's the winner gonna be (couldn't avoid those damn headlines with the spoilers), so I keep thinking if all these rule-changings are just to keep the YG trainees in the competition. Even though Bobby is my favourite contestant, hell, maybe even my favourite idol, I feel like this is a really low blow of a "survival show". And even though I adore B.I too, I admitted that he shouldn't have gotten a second chance because he forgot his lyrics in not one but two rounds (and almost fell in the second one, lol).
That's why I agree and disagree with people and opinions about more famous and more well-known rappers - they must be famous and well-known for a reason (meaning they have what it takes to participate in a show like this), but they also take the places in this show from the unknown, noname people who are striving to become rappers. I think they should've at least separated these two sides somehow because now (I still didn't watch the episode until its end) even among these 25 rappers there could be only 15 at max. who "didn't have a name" before coming to this show. And that's what's unfair.
Tablo & Masta Wu's team: 1 unknown.
San E & Swings' team: 2 unknowns.
Dok2 & The Quiett's team: 2 unknowns.
YDG's team: 2 unknowns.
I think I don't have to say anything else...
Da Young just said literally in the previous episode's last few minutes that she should've asked Ji Woon's number (to be able to call him about that kindergarden paper), but in the episode's very last moment, she called someone - who turned out to be Ji Woon in this episode. So... then she does have his number saved?
Then a few scenes later she doesn't have his number and has to use the cleaning company's card to contact him. Ookay.
Okay, WHAT?! The guy who I thought was Hye Joo's brother/boyfriend (clearly neither judging from her reaction to this ->) is checking out a handsome male co-worker(? or simply hyung)?? Sorry, Hye Joo, I'm changing teams to root for.
I take back a bit of the disappointment towards Ms. Ahn. She had her reasons for changing Da Young's name to hers in the PPT, but she still should've just told the truth at the beginning. At least to Da Young. [Mad at her again because she ignored Da Young's stomach pain.]
It's strange but good to see that at least the guy co-workers are rooting for Da Young and are proud of her - unlike the women who almost just want her to fail and not get into the company.
I hope this won't be a reversed "Cinderella and Four Knights" because I was getting that kind of feeling while Ji Woon was helping out one of the main characters (Sang Ah, who had a different man "for her" in the past episodes). Especially when it was literally the same concept what's going to happen here (probably) in the next episode: 3 men and 1 woman - in Your House Helper it's going to be 3 women and 1 man (but he'll kinda not live there, I suppose).
Though I still think that Sang Ah will get together with that man who she saw at that runway event and when Ddeobok splashed water on him in the rain, it's still weird how similar is the situation of this drama and CAFK. I'm just wondering who'll be the man for that third friend who has that nail salon, 'cuz she seems to be afraid of men (smells like an abusive relationship in her past).
OMG, I love that old man literally dragging Ji Woon to Da Young just so that she could talk to him. He's so gonna be their Cupid.
Also, in love with the short-haired girl. Whether the boy who's working with her is her brother or her boyfriend, they already seem to make a good pair.
Lol, Joo Young really pissed me off from time to time. He's so rude and not respecting others' feelings that at some points in the drama I just wanted to punch him in the face.
Min Ho's closure was weird for me. He insisted so much in the last 2 episodes that he'll win Bo Young over, and I know that they made that urine scene for him to realize what he said isn't necessarily true (about not wanting to be embarrassed and lieing to your partner), still I think his character isn't the type to take these into consideration - at least not this fast.
I think everyone could guess that Bo Young could finally have that full-time job in the last episode, so that wasn't really a surprise. What I liked about that is that Dr. Ye didn't ask a favor for Bo Young from the director of the hospital. Instead, he kept his mouth shut (although he, too, wanted to help Bo Young) because she wanted to achieve the full-time job by herself, which is really respectable.
Sadly, other than this scene, they had a really dull ending. They still didn't call each other by their normal names (I was actually surprised that they included that problem in this episode because I just mentioned it as an observation in my comment for the last one :'D), they still didn't use banmal (informal speech) with each other, they still didn't reveal their relationship to the others.
Although there were many scenes and twists that I didn't like in the plot (especially in the show's second half), but overall I wouldn't say it was bad. I'm glad I didn't stop watching it after the first episode because from then on it was a really strong start. It's a shame, though, it went downhill (or more like rollercoaster) for me in the last few episodes.
