But I gave Rush a chance, because friends told me that the movie is good, and Niki Lauda is an Austrian like me. Of course not the best reasons to watch a movie from a genre you are not into.
And I shouldn't have watched it. For me it was pretty boring, I started to skip some scenes. The acting of Daniel Brühl was really not good - and I hated that Austrian-English-accent. I guess yes, the people in Austria were bad in English at this time - but this accent for about two hours long. Noooooo.
But if you are into Formula 1 racing... I guess you gonna like it. I don't know. 4/10 hearts.

After I watched this movie about 10 minutes I felt like I already have seen this movie. But I wasn't right.
The US produced the same movie in 2012. And the plot is the same, sometimes the camera positions are the same... it is pretty crazy.Said that, I suggest you better watch this "version" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGoe7BdGdlg instead of this one.
Because the only reason why you wanna watch this movie is, that you gonna have some nice action scenes in it - and Red Dawn (2012) is much better as this one.

Before I started watching this movie, I had high expectations. Reviews and friends told me to expect a real science fiction movie. I've been longing for a real sci-fi flick since "Close Encounters of the Third Kind", "Contact" and "Sunshine". I know people nowadays are calling fiction and fantasy movies sci-fi, but I rather tend to draw a dinstinctive line and emphasize on the word "science".
That being said, the plot is simple, but at the same time realistic. The movie tells the story of humans trying to survive in an utterly inhabitable place - space. It's a movie that will remind kids (and adults alike), spoiled by the strange education they receive through contemporary media, that not everything can be achieved by wishful thinking. Humans are not made for living in space. Every step off earth is a step defying nature. Is that bad or good? That's a decision everyone has to make for himself.The visuals are stunning. I watched it in 2D and I plan on watching it again in 3D. The spectator has the feeling to actually be there.
At least as important though is the sound. Many filmmakers make the mistake of having sound in space. Of course that's totally ridiculous. The only sound there is, is the sound that's created inside of your space-suit or space-station by the shockwaves that hit it. Throughout the movie I had the feeling they got it right. And actually it didn't make the movie "empty", but quite the opposite, more tense. It intensified the feeling of "this is not a place where I belong".There was one scene though, I thought wasn't right. When Bullock holds on to Clooney, Clooney should already have the same trajectory as Bullock or the station or he should bounce back. I just don't get what's still pulling him. I think it is a mistake in the movie and a serious one at that.
Anyway, I can overlook that, since the rest of the movie is very good. On IMDB it has a rating of 8.2 right now. I'd give it more like a 7.8. Maybe even less. I guess the rating is a bit high, because for young viewers it is a new experience to see something realistic on the screen.
Should you watch it? Yes, definitely. Should you rewatch it? Maybe, for the CGI and if you haven't seen it in 3D. Certainly not for the story.

Well, I also liked the story. Great movie.
Shit. I really expected something more from that movie.
As I read the plot, I expected something great like in Short Bus ( http://trakt.tv/movie/shortbus-2006 )But there wasn't. The plot is very simple and unfortunately there are not many surprises in it:
Guy wants to get back is girlfriend. She broke up because he is VERY conservative and really poor in bed. So he needs some help and finds that in a nice young lady. She is working as a stripper and got problems too: she has no clue about financial stuff but is very good in sex-stuff.
So they are helping each other. And a love story develops which you already predicted. .-/But in my opinion it isn't a very sexual movie. Yes there are some scenes which are sexual but nothing that justifies the title "My Awkward Sexual Adventure"! The movie is more about a role-changing, role playing game. And that also doesn't really work out too much. But maybe its bad I compare it to a movie like shortbus.
But anyway: some funny scenes are in this movie, and it is quite enjoyable. But only 6 out of 10.

Then watch this movie.I got home from a 3-day-long music festival and it was perfect, watching this movie. NOTHING new in it with many action scenes - but thats a little bit the problem: If you watch a movie with nothing new, and even there are many action scenes in it - but all of that action scenes are like "Hej I 've already seen that" its getting boring.
The plot:

I can (somewhat, in a small way) relate to this movie, years ago i worked for a few years in a callcenter of a major cable company. The way you sometimes have to guide someone to a solution, like Halle Berry did with the kidnapped girl was in a weird way very recognizable. Off course solving someones tv or internet troubles is not the same as a life or death situation (some of the customers i got on the phone during that time thought very differently about that though) where 911 operators have to deal with almost every single call. But still, i thought it was very nice after all those years to see some of the technical and communicational aspects of that part of the job.
Now the movie itself: Its not that spectacular that i would like to see it anytime again soon, but its still good enough to have an enjoyable evening. Halle Berry managed to do a pretty decent job as a 911 operator. We as the viewer get a very good idea what it is to be a 911 operator.
Michael Eklund (the kidnapper/psychopath) was very believable in his role, but i feel that the writer and director could have done more to explain why he does what he does. At the end it was still somewhat unclear to me what drove him to those acts.
The ending involved a twist i found quite enjoyable. I am not gonna say what, you'll have to see the movie for yourself, but because of that i gave this movie an 8 instead of what else would be a 7. All in all it is a good movie with a healthy amount of suspense added to it.
