very underwhelming plot, really can see it started as a fanfic but the 14 year old in me kinda liked it because of that. I really liked the acting and the casting, but there's really not much to the story
ofc Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine are really good actors, so they made it work
Overall, it’s a fun time. Is it the best movie I’ve ever seen? No. But it will give you butterflies. My major issue with it is that I wanted to know more about everyone around them. The band and their relationships are barely explored, which was, to me, a miss. I would also like to know more about her ex and his wife. Like, any of the other relationships are cardboard decorations in this movie. It is interesting how self-contained it feels, considering it’s a movie in which the main problem is the public.
A sweet heartwarming romance with main actors that share a real amazing chemistry ! For what it's supposed to be, I think it did great. One thing I would say against it is that the whole underlying scenario is cliché, expected (but not enough that it'll stop you fromhaving a good time, imo).
I've heard Anne Hathaway has received criticism for looking too young to play a 40yo, even though she herself is exactly that lol. And good for her. Otherwise I quite enjoy Nicholas Galitzine, but I hope he'll be able to not be typecast in the future, so that he doesn't oversaturate the romance flick market.
As a side note, Galitzine is 30. If they cast a real 24yo actor, would it have been cringier ? Maybe, given that we always see 24yo cast as highschoolers. How about irl though ?
Anne Hathaway, you will always be famous. A literal icon
After Iron Man and Avengers got done, it seems like Captain America is also on its last rope.
Beautifully shot and very brutal. Can be very hard to watch at times. Michael Fassbender is fantastic. The 17 minute shot was amazing. I can't believe they got that in only 4 takes. Steve McQueen knocking it out of the park on his first movie.
I guess I'm the target audience for this movie because I think it was an absolute masterclass in producing an enjoyable action movie. Cinematography was great, the story was paced extremely well, and the casting of ALL roles was absolutely perfect.
Cruise, Pegg and Rhames were awesome as always, Whigham and Davis were great additions, but the power quartet of Ferguson, Atwell, Klementieff and Kirby, really went above and beyond in making this movie perfect. Not to mention the chilling confidence of Morales as Gabriel, who practically oozed tangible danger.
From the pre-opening credits scene to the final act, you will be on the edge of your seat - especially during any fight scene that involves Ferguson or Klementieff - and whilst there are moments that the tempo slows down to advance the story, it is always completely captivating.
The single, solitary, disappointment comes as the credits roll, and you remember you're going to have to wait until next year to see how it ends.
Hilariously terrible dialogue, infinite plot holes, macguffins and continuity errors. But that’s not what people watch this for anyway. Good action, a tad overlong. Go in knowing what you are getting into and it will be fun.
This was not such a bad film as others are making it out to be. Perhaps not as memorable with iconic scenes like the others, but it flows with explosive action and slow-mo scenes are used well here for a change. Tom Cruise shows off some amazing karate moves and we get to see more of what he can perform stunt wise. You’d be daft to miss this film.
A great watch,Tom Cruise is great as Ethan Hunt was the best choice,I gave this a 10 because of the great backdrop of Australia as U don't get to see it much in big budget movies....
"Mr. Hunt, this isn't mission difficult, it's mission impossible. "Difficult" should be a walk in the park for you."
The best line in the entire franchise. The over the top action, excessive explosions, motorcycles races, Tom Cruise's karate skills, the overuse of mask and voice changers; it has it all. Tom Cruise and Thandie Newton have great chemistry together. Look it's not great and hasn't aged the best but hey, it's cheesy and fun and sometimes entertaining. Plus Tom Cruise's hair looks great.
A great big action film. If you like 80's Schwarzenegger or Die Hard you'll be into this. Big explosions, cheesy lines and yes, lots of hair-flicking against a fan. But the action is so well-staged I forgive it a lot.
After this the series turned soapy in part 3, then overly comedic with the introduction of Simon Pegg. It depends what you are into, but if you enjoy films like Con Air, Under Siege, The Rock and Air Force One, you should like this.
I was really unsatisfied with that ending but in a way that just adds to how fucked up the whole experience was.
First time watching Sliding Doors & the simultaneous dual stories idea is cleverly presented. The BEST thing by far about the film is John Hannah, who manages to lift the overall film from a mediocre romance by his sparkling & engaging performance.
For someone who was born in 2001 and not being able to watch Matrix in theaters this movie has a special meaning to me.
Edit: Never mind this was film was a piece of crap
WarGames is a perfectly fine little gem of a thriller. Well...not exactly a thriller, but it gets rather exciting at the end. Great performance by a young Matthew Broderick as the protagonist, John Wood as the "wacky professor", and Ally Sheedy as the "love" interest. The story is even more relevant today than back in the cold war...WHEN will technology make us extinct?!?
Should be viewed and collected by everyone!!
This movie made me very sad. An utterly unnecessary money grab based on the cult nature of War Games. I wish I had not watched this.
Is it just me or is every Denzel Washington movie just great ___
IMHO this is the best revenge movie ever made.
I mean when Creasy goes after these bastards, one by one - cutting of fingers & blowing of dynamite inside of the kidnappers ass...
How awesome is that???
I still hear that little girl (Pita) scream: "Creeeeeasy".
Really too bad this GREAT director/producer (Tony Scott) died today!
It is a good movie, but from Christopher Nolan I was expecting something a lot better.
"Boys have a penis and girls have a vagina!" :ok_hand_tone2:
This feels kind of like a deleted scene from the first Thor movie, but it's really fun, and it gives Coulson's character a well-deserved moment to shine, even if only for a brief moment.
If you want to really enjoy Drive, I'd suggest you do the following. Get a big screen (like, 32"+). Get a 5.1 surround system and something that has a real bass kick for the engines. Turn all the lights off; turn the volume way up. Watch the blu ray.
If you watch it like that and get completely absorbed in it, I'm pretty sure you'll appreciate this film for the gripping cinematic experience it is.
Total awesome. My heart was in my throat continuously watching this. Great visual style, Awesome soundtrack, and one of the best movie openings I've seen in a while. The chemistry between Gosling and Mulligan is palpable. One suggestion when you watch it - turn the lights down and the sound up - it is a movie that requires your undivided attention...
Such a beautiful film! The cinematography is simply amazing!
I liked how the ending was primarily from Mia's perspective. Had it worked out, Sebastian could not have lived his dream. He would have had a great life, playing in a jazz band in Paris and having kids with her, but it wasn't his ultimate dream.
And that's what this film does so well - it's about two people who fall in love and help each other reach their dreams...They just don't end up together.
Why don't you try gettin jacked off under the table in front of the whole family and have some real problems jackass
Such an unsatisfying ending. And what was up with the boxes and the snakes in the guy's room?
I really liked this movie. What happened in the end? Loki rescued Dover and arrested him?. I dont see why this can be a lower 7 rate movie. I watched 3 drama movies with Jake Gyllenhaal and enjoyed his performance.
The ending made me mad. They could have ended it a little better. But good movie though! I enjoyed it a lot. Just a bit too slow.
This movie felt as if someone decided to create some kind of thriller so they assembled everything that should be in a thriller. The whole movie felt rather generic. While neither Gyllenhaal nor Jackman were any great shakes in this movie I don't think they had a lot to work with either. It's a bit of a waste in that I think the twist really could have set up a movie for a better ending. I would have thought that the movie would have been about the moral ramifications of what the two men had done. Anyway, this movie has been done way better in too many other places.
