This season is crap, crap, crap. The best thing about AHS, and sometimes the only thing that make it worth watching in the later seasons, was the superb cast. Between Angela Bassett, Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates, Lady Gaga, and Sarah Paulson, you could always count on the actors saving an otherwise mediocre script. However, for whatever reason, they decided to shelve all of their A-List actors this season and leave only teenagers, making this season almost Freeform or CW quality of both writing and acting
Amazing season despite a lot of new characters being more interesting than some of the old ones. Especially when Will has nothing to do but be love sick and jealous. While Jonathan is now a goofy stoner.
Though it is annoying how everyone tries to get Nancy back with Steve when Jonathan isn’t around.
The villain steals the show and so does as Max at one point. Eddie the metalhead Dungeons and Dragon club leader steals almost every seen he is in though.
Not bad by any means, but definitely the worst season of the show yet. It felt like there was a lot of pointless drama, and certain plot points just didn't have any impact - like Stan. Characters kept dying and it was as if no one actually cared all that much, especially when Harlan died, which confused me because there had been a lot of build up with Viktor protecting him.
I was also kinda mad that they killed of the two most interesting Sparrows first. Meanwhile we had to sit through lots of Sloane, who was probably the least interesting of them all.
There were some great moments - namely the stuff involving Reginald and Five. Those are easily the best and most interesting characters in the show as far as I'm concerned, and the quality of a scene is almost always improved by their inclusion.
Personally I didn’t enjoy S1-3 at all. Poor acting, really bad script and a lot of unused potential made me almost quit. Season 4 on the otherhand is good. Yes it’s slow paced but I think that’s what this show needed in order to survive. Acting is brilliant compared to before. Finally most of the original cast has gone, the new cast really is to my liking. Storytelling is good as well, a few hiccups here and there but still way better overall. The plot twist at the end is alright for me since TWD is making a jump about 2 years ahead so FTWD and TWD won’t merge anyways. So there isn’t really a necessity to go to Alexandria. Personally it’s the first season FRWD I enjoyed.
After a great season 3 this season felt a bit lacking and the biggest reasons for that were:
- Eliot and later Julia becoming monsters for a while (good thing about this was that it really showed just how good actor Hale Appleman is).
- Pretty much everything happening at the library: the limitation of ambient magic and trying to create artificial god got old fast.
But there also was a lot of good about this season like:
- Margo developing into even greater character.
- Musical parts.
- Season ending in a way that I'm really wanting season 5.
Overall a decent season with a lot of good things but a bit too much story development that I didn't really like.
