This episode feels out of place with what Star Trek would become, due to being a (2nd) pilot. It takes quite a whole to get going and I was getting bored, but the writing remains good throughout and the final scenes are quite exciting. Great to see Scotty finally appear, but I was taken aback by how eager Spock was to kill Gary!

UPDATE - SECOND WATCH (2021): Enjoyed it a fair bit more this time around. When you consider that this episode was intended to be the first one, it actually launches the show much better than the episodes that were initially broadcast before this. Mitchell being one of Kirk's best friends and the disrupted character continuity just fits in better when this kicks things off. I also found I quite liked the character moments throughout this and it kept my attention.

Killjoys: 1x01 Bangarang

Extremely choppy storytelling, jumps around way too fast with no indication of time passed or distance traveled. Difficult to follow, but kind of fun at the same time.

Star Trek: 1x02 Charlie X

Started off creepy and uncomfortable, ended up quite sad and poignant. Quite enjoyed how awkward Captain Kirk got trying to explain things to Charlie. The musical interlude was very out of place.

Star Trek: 1x01 The Man Trap

"COULD! NANCY! TAKE! THIS?!"
Spock's highly emotional reaction and violent outburst was both hilarious and disturbing. Great banter between Kirk and McCoy. I noticed that Kirk makes very sudden changes between super-chill Captain and highly-strung serious Captain.

Limitless: 1x09 Headquarters!

Loved this. Brilliant montage with the Abyss joke and the Queen song.

Star Wars Rebels: 2x11 The Protector of Concord Dawn

I did find it funny that none of the characters seemed to care about the Rebel pilots who were killed.

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: 3x03 A Wanted (Inhu)man

Episodes like this remind me how bland all the characters are. There's nothing to latch on to here.

Room

Amazing and heartbreaking. Depressing and uplifting. An absolute must-watch.

Fargo: Season 1

Delightfully twisted and horrifically violent, but outside of a few moment s of brilliance I found it too unfocused. It never made me laugh, but Martin Freeman in particular was fantastic. Major pacing issues.

Fargo: 1x05 The Six Ungraspables

Best episode since the pilot, moved the story and had a tonne of great scenes.

Joy

Went in knowing next to nothing about this, and pretty much loved it. Engaging story with good characters, and a flawless performance from Jennifer Lawrence.
