Awful, just awful. I had to stop watching after maybe a half hour - it is that bad.
Very powerful movie! I don't need to repeat, what the other comments already pointed out.
The only 2 things I found a little bit weird, were 1st: that it seemd like nobody told Ruben, that his hearing will be different after the surgery. I don't think (or hope) that the doctors he probably talked to, wouldn't tell him that.
And 2nd, I feel like "Metal" as a genre, probably hasn't been handled fair here. I do not listen to Metal myself, but obviously for a lot of people it sounds just like "loud noise" which Ruben turns off at the end.
So metaphorically... Maybe that thought goes too far, but I feel, that metal as a genre was handled a little negative. Like these two only played Metal because they were hurt from the past and that they had to get out of it, to start living a normal life again. But still for the characters, as they were presented, I think storywise it worked and the journey they had, was resolved very very well.
But these really are the only issues I had. People should definetly watch it! Great movie! :)
Yeah, this doesn't happen and the misconception about the tradition is once again skewed to the bias of American eyes.
Granted I'm from Belgium and the tradition is slightly different from the Netherlands but still.
Even the Dutch don't do whatever the hotel staff and public was doing unless they were in character of Zwarte Piet. Which, they were not. I know this show is satire and shows an extreme view of things but still...
Good episode, just don't fuck with Zwarte Piet
In Episode 1, they just pretty much skipped Ye Wenjie's backstory before Red Coast. They crammed everything into 5 minutes. Episode 2 is called 'Red Coast' but we barely pass any time at Red Coast base. Most of the episode is just present day characters talking and playing the VR game. In fact, we barely spent any time inside Red Coast itself. It doesn't even feel like a secret base/project. Besides the death of Ye Wenjie's dad - which wasn't adapted for censorship reasons -, nothing in this adaptation is honestly better than the Chinese version. I knew from the get go that 8 episodes, each with less than 60 minutes, would not be enough, but they are rushing. There's no way her character and motives will come across as understandable. This whole story is based on her past actions.
Damn this show is so amazing. Just straight up story telling without any of the woke shit found on American TV shows. Love it. Hope they make season 2. Highly recommend watching this show.
am i the only one who thought the writers fumbled the bag with this season finale ;/
idk it was just kind of anticlimactic/predictable leading up to & after the big fight
i actually thought the character growth for the cast as whole (leading up to this point) was fucking brilliant every step of the way, i guess i was just expecting more pizazz or a real grand finale that would wow me.
Most unrealistic part of this entire episode ? The soldier placing an international call, on a god damn public pay phone, without even inserting any coins !
What even was that, like they couldn't have him call from a landline in the bar or something less dumb ?
June is starting to become like Aunt Lydia
Mads Mikkelsen dancing and spinning around is one of the most beautiful cinematic moments in 2020
He's so good , great cast all around and a top notch movie
The Indian stuff feels like a pointless side story only serving to fill some time. I hope I'm wrong and that it somehow becomes relevant later.
It’s finally happening. ChatGPT writes for TV now.
Demented, unhinged, disturbing, terrifying, and riveting. Rachel Weisz so brilliant you actually believe you’re watching two different people. The real secret ingredient, however, is the genius of Poppy Liu.
Tune in. Hide the kids.
BEWARE. Check each episode's comments, because (at least) episodes 2-4 have NOTHING to do with Black Mirror's premise. Season 6 is as appropriate to Black Mirror as a season of Punky Brewster episodes would be if they were promoted as a new season of The Sopranos.
I feel like i'm totally addicted to this series, can't stop watching ever single episode. I hope they'll give us a second season, i hope, cmon, stoodisss.
A bit depressing, made me feel homesick. It bothers me that other than the rich destroy the small farmer, it doesn't offer any optimistic message or solution. It just says what we already know.
Dear Mr. Sheridan, I am a MASSIVE fan but this show…is sheer garbage :confounded:
The CGI is awful but when you read how they treat their workers at Disney and Marvel, you understand.
so, maybe i missed it, but did they ever mention how long they've been on Earth?
also, did the Lannisters send their regards?
You need to be drunk to actually understand what is happening in this show.
The premise of the show doesn’t make any sense. Debris are falling from a spaceship that blow up. But each debris has a special power. So every inch of space ship is designed with a magical special power. How is that even possible. Literally every inch of meta they find does something different & has powers that has no correlation to one & another. Something to play in the background. Doubt this will get season 2.
Maybe the experience is different if you're American and/or you have no prior knowledge of what was going on in Gitmo (we been knew), but this movie -- while not too bad -- was not as good as it could have been.
The script takes middle-of-the-road approach and never really goes for the jugular. Sure, we can call the onscreen depictions of torture "brave" but it's not like it is the first movie to do so. The tone was confusing, there was a lot of jokes for a story that's about inhumane torture. I don't know what function the dream scenes were supposed to perform in the movie, some of them were disorienting, which I suppose is intentional to demonstrate Mo's mental state, but I wonder if they were necessary at all.
The acting was great though, I have no misgivings about the acting. I've always liked Tahar Rahim, but the poor guy is really typecast in America, in Europe they trust him with roles that have nothing to do with his background, because he's just that good.
It started out so good but this motherfucker went right off the rails in the last two episodes. And, holy fuck, what an unbelievably shitty and disjointed ending that left me feeling betrayed. Wish I’d never watched this abomination.
I love, love, love this show. Nothing happens the way that I expected it to, the acting is beyong brilliant and the casting just couldn't be better. Anthony Carigan and Stephen Root are absolutely amazing in every scene, and the directing choices Bill Hader made in the last season are some of my favourite in TV & movie history ever.
i feel like casting Robbie Amell is a fantastic way to achieve peak mediocrity. i can't think of a single performance of his where i was impressed. seems to be more the fault of the showrunners as there's nothing objectively bad about him or his delivery, he just loves mediocre shows and movies?
Upload is no exception. in broad strokes, the concepts and ideas explored by the show are interesting and original. but it doesn't really make any statements and it's not brave in any way, so it comes off as cringy and "tropy".
it also really bothers me how they apparently spent zero dollars on technical consulting. 2gb for a fully interactive VR environment? how does simply putting on VR goggles allow the system to show your expressions and hand gestures and movement? there are so many irritating, incredibly stupid hand-waves happening that could have been done way better with just a little bit of thought or explanation.
Upload is great background noise, just don't pay too much attention to it and you'll enjoy it.
pretty enjoyable but at one point Stallone goes on some weird rant about pronouns, completely unprompted and unrelated to literally any part of the show. weird how the people who want to keep politics out of entertainment always seem to be the ones injecting their toxic ideas. thankfully only the one instance.
otherwise not a terrible show; Stallone as a wise guy is pretty charming. the cast is enjoyable, as absurd as the story is. this is a great filler show, but if you want a more fleshed out and engaging version of "stuff like this", check out Netflix's Lilyhammer.
not a great time to be Holden in this episode.. everyone was wayyy to harsh on him imo. pedophile or not, that teacher was creepy. parents asked him to stop tickling and giving money to their children and he should have respected that and stopped, he has no excuse.
i know i keep siding with Holden but i don’t think he was in the wrong for using that kind of vocabulary with a Serial Killer... it did get him to talk after all. i do think he shouldn’t have tried to cover it up though.
a bit disappointed by Wendy for stabbing them in the back like that although i get where she comes from. but the whole thing could have jeopardized their research or have Holden fired..
Gregg however can burn in hell.
really good episode - felt nice to have one more Holt-centric and it fit really well with the theme and Manson interwiew.. speaking of the devil, he might have been the highlight of the episode - but to me the best parts were Gregg getting constantly kicked out of important discussions haha
also the dude at the party who wouldn’t let Wendy alone gave me major Mr.Collins vibes...
Overhyped episode. Nothing new was said. This is like one of those reality reunion episode. I'm not a fan of the format.
I'm a huge Disney lover, but this is absolutely the worst Disney movie ever made...
