One of the best anti-war movies of all time. I was shaking and had heart racing the whole run-time.
One of the most memorable cinema-experiences I ever had. After the credits rolled, no one made a move for two minutes. Everyone sat quietly and thought about what they had seen. At one point early in the movie almost everyone had also stopped eating their popcorn.
Watch it in Cinema if you can. Watch it in german if you can. Watch it in german with subtitles if you must. Or wait for it's Netflix-Release. But watch "All Quiet on the Western Front" no matter what. And learn from it.
One of the most intense movies you'll ever see.
Mads Mikkelsen dancing and spinning around is one of the most beautiful cinematic moments in 2020
He's so good , great cast all around and a top notch movie
Fantastic stories, great cinematography and production values, excellent performances and a superb soundtrack.
The focus of the series are the people and the storytelling, not the special effects or other hollywood super hero bs.
The world and the character building are top notch. Dark, mysterious, melancholic, with a nostalgic feeling in it. just perfect series. In fact, i can't find anything that bothers me.
This is art.
Aren't lightsabers supposed to be these super rare weapons? Yet, this bunch of rag-tag farmers have a whole case just laying about?
The plot points of this entire show are soooo simplistic, it's embarrassing: A door needs to be opened? Meh, let's just have it open and shut by itself, no need to explain. The little robot has been hacked? Meh, just pull a little magnet off it and it's back to normal. The little robot destroyed the main hatch controls, oh and what's that, it'll take you 4-5h to fix? Meh, just send in the 10 year-old actual princess with a Philip's screwdriver, she'll get it done in under 20min. Vader can pull ships right out of the sky and tear them apart like paper? Meh, just hide another massive 20-ton ship behind the first one, and pretend this one can take-off faster than the first, so it can safely get away .
Barely an inconvenience.
Secrets of Dumbledore improves on its weaker predessesor with a more nuanced Grindlewald performance from Mads Mikklesen, as well as a more focused narrative. There are some interesting set pieces here, as well as some surprisingly funny moments and some creative uses of magic that will entertain fans of the series. Unfortunately, it still suffers the faults of a directionless series that should never have extended beyond a single movie. Characters are left woefully undeveloped and plot developments from previous movies are brushed aside, although perhaps for the better. While it is a passable movie, it is unfortunately much too small a step in the right direction for a doomed series.
Very intense Chef!! But enjoyed it a lot, very bingeable and some really fantastic scenes. Hope they make more.
Gratuitous Violence, Political Machinations, Sexual Exposition. Classic Game of Thrones. 9/10
am i the only one who thought the writers fumbled the bag with this season finale ;/
idk it was just kind of anticlimactic/predictable leading up to & after the big fight
i actually thought the character growth for the cast as whole (leading up to this point) was fucking brilliant every step of the way, i guess i was just expecting more pizazz or a real grand finale that would wow me.
Most unrealistic part of this entire episode ? The soldier placing an international call, on a god damn public pay phone, without even inserting any coins !
What even was that, like they couldn't have him call from a landline in the bar or something less dumb ?
1/10 this is :dog::poop:
I was expecting something along the lines of Tulsa king, instead we get this terrible terrible show….
It’s so dated and feels like it should have been made 20 yrs ago.
Do yourself a favour and lock yourself away until this pile of :poop: has moved along and been forgotten about, also if a friend or relative suggests this show to you, cut them out of your life, who needs enemies if you’ve got friends like that……
Very powerful movie! I don't need to repeat, what the other comments already pointed out.
The only 2 things I found a little bit weird, were 1st: that it seemd like nobody told Ruben, that his hearing will be different after the surgery. I don't think (or hope) that the doctors he probably talked to, wouldn't tell him that.
And 2nd, I feel like "Metal" as a genre, probably hasn't been handled fair here. I do not listen to Metal myself, but obviously for a lot of people it sounds just like "loud noise" which Ruben turns off at the end.
So metaphorically... Maybe that thought goes too far, but I feel, that metal as a genre was handled a little negative. Like these two only played Metal because they were hurt from the past and that they had to get out of it, to start living a normal life again. But still for the characters, as they were presented, I think storywise it worked and the journey they had, was resolved very very well.
But these really are the only issues I had. People should definetly watch it! Great movie! :)
June is starting to become like Aunt Lydia
I’m not a monster movie expert but this is pretty good. The acting is decent, the pace is quick, the monsters and special effects are well done. Plus it’s a bit refreshing since there have not been that many monster movie series compared to zombies, super heroes, space operas etc Just finished the second episode and I’m eager to keep watching the next one when it comes out…
I don’t know what is happening in this show or where it’s going. So confused.
Overhyped episode. Nothing new was said. This is like one of those reality reunion episode. I'm not a fan of the format.
This is bad, jokes are not funny, hardly any action scenes which was bad also. I gave up after 2 episodes.
Yeah, this doesn't happen and the misconception about the tradition is once again skewed to the bias of American eyes.
Granted I'm from Belgium and the tradition is slightly different from the Netherlands but still.
Even the Dutch don't do whatever the hotel staff and public was doing unless they were in character of Zwarte Piet. Which, they were not. I know this show is satire and shows an extreme view of things but still...
Good episode, just don't fuck with Zwarte Piet
Why is the show portraying Melanie as the bad guy when Layton has done nothing but lie to the passengers and act on a stupid „vision“. He's an awful leader and a boring main character, I don't understand why the writers push us to be on his side.
oh look, another episode this season where the cliffhanger fundamentally-changes-the-show event from the end of the last episode is undone in the opening minutes
Demented, unhinged, disturbing, terrifying, and riveting. Rachel Weisz so brilliant you actually believe you’re watching two different people. The real secret ingredient, however, is the genius of Poppy Liu.
Tune in. Hide the kids.
I get how some people find the buildup of this episode boring, but I was fully okay with existing in that hazy neon-honey dreamland for as long as I could. Ironically much better at portraying cosmic horror than the previous two episodes based on Lovecraft; knowledge, wealth, creativity, and spirituality all swallowed up into an unstoppable, unknowable entity. No use in fighting, only running as far as you can. This episode was vague, dreamy, and uncomfortable, and I had a good time with it.
this show is rapidly making me lose my mind and i love it it's so good
Is it just me or does it seem like this show is losing steam? Or maybe it's just a few bottle episodes to save money to pay Melanie?
Premiere was a riot. Couldn't be happier Nathan is back to dissect our minds
Awful, just awful. I had to stop watching after maybe a half hour - it is that bad.
Oh come on.
Enough with this dinosaur / dog thing.
Enough with the crappy mutant dinosaurs.
I want to see real dinos that existed not some crappy mutant dino playing dog.
The premise and script of the movie are stupid as hell, dino animal lovers, greedy humans, laughable warlords buying soldiers/dinos. I guess the writers are 8 years old...
Although i like Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard the only good things are cgi and the last 5 min of the movie.
Enough said, bad movie not worthing more time of my life.
I really enjoy it so far, two episodes in at this point. It feels a little Being John Malkovich mixed with Ben's Secret Life of Walter Mitty.
Haunting, breathtakingly unique puzzle box from Stephen King and Pablo Larrain that has all the hallmarks of both at their best. Great performances from across the board - and whilst King stories tend to fizzle out with a whimper rather than a bang, the signs are strong for this on that it won't suffer the same fate. Dane DeHaan is appropriately sinister, and the high-budget production makes it look better than most movies.
Maybe the experience is different if you're American and/or you have no prior knowledge of what was going on in Gitmo (we been knew), but this movie -- while not too bad -- was not as good as it could have been.
The script takes middle-of-the-road approach and never really goes for the jugular. Sure, we can call the onscreen depictions of torture "brave" but it's not like it is the first movie to do so. The tone was confusing, there was a lot of jokes for a story that's about inhumane torture. I don't know what function the dream scenes were supposed to perform in the movie, some of them were disorienting, which I suppose is intentional to demonstrate Mo's mental state, but I wonder if they were necessary at all.
The acting was great though, I have no misgivings about the acting. I've always liked Tahar Rahim, but the poor guy is really typecast in America, in Europe they trust him with roles that have nothing to do with his background, because he's just that good.
