I love, love, love this show. Nothing happens the way that I expected it to, the acting is beyong brilliant and the casting just couldn't be better. Anthony Carigan and Stephen Root are absolutely amazing in every scene, and the directing choices Bill Hader made in the last season are some of my favourite in TV & movie history ever.
i feel like casting Robbie Amell is a fantastic way to achieve peak mediocrity. i can't think of a single performance of his where i was impressed. seems to be more the fault of the showrunners as there's nothing objectively bad about him or his delivery, he just loves mediocre shows and movies?
Upload is no exception. in broad strokes, the concepts and ideas explored by the show are interesting and original. but it doesn't really make any statements and it's not brave in any way, so it comes off as cringy and "tropy".
it also really bothers me how they apparently spent zero dollars on technical consulting. 2gb for a fully interactive VR environment? how does simply putting on VR goggles allow the system to show your expressions and hand gestures and movement? there are so many irritating, incredibly stupid hand-waves happening that could have been done way better with just a little bit of thought or explanation.
Upload is great background noise, just don't pay too much attention to it and you'll enjoy it.
pretty enjoyable but at one point Stallone goes on some weird rant about pronouns, completely unprompted and unrelated to literally any part of the show. weird how the people who want to keep politics out of entertainment always seem to be the ones injecting their toxic ideas. thankfully only the one instance.
otherwise not a terrible show; Stallone as a wise guy is pretty charming. the cast is enjoyable, as absurd as the story is. this is a great filler show, but if you want a more fleshed out and engaging version of "stuff like this", check out Netflix's Lilyhammer.
not a great time to be Holden in this episode.. everyone was wayyy to harsh on him imo. pedophile or not, that teacher was creepy. parents asked him to stop tickling and giving money to their children and he should have respected that and stopped, he has no excuse.
i know i keep siding with Holden but i don’t think he was in the wrong for using that kind of vocabulary with a Serial Killer... it did get him to talk after all. i do think he shouldn’t have tried to cover it up though.
a bit disappointed by Wendy for stabbing them in the back like that although i get where she comes from. but the whole thing could have jeopardized their research or have Holden fired..
Gregg however can burn in hell.
really good episode - felt nice to have one more Holt-centric and it fit really well with the theme and Manson interwiew.. speaking of the devil, he might have been the highlight of the episode - but to me the best parts were Gregg getting constantly kicked out of important discussions haha
also the dude at the party who wouldn’t let Wendy alone gave me major Mr.Collins vibes...
Overhyped episode. Nothing new was said. This is like one of those reality reunion episode. I'm not a fan of the format.
I'm a huge Disney lover, but this is absolutely the worst Disney movie ever made...
It’s finally happening. ChatGPT writes for TV now.
Demented, unhinged, disturbing, terrifying, and riveting. Rachel Weisz so brilliant you actually believe you’re watching two different people. The real secret ingredient, however, is the genius of Poppy Liu.
Tune in. Hide the kids.
In Episode 1, they just pretty much skipped Ye Wenjie's backstory before Red Coast. They crammed everything into 5 minutes. Episode 2 is called 'Red Coast' but we barely pass any time at Red Coast base. Most of the episode is just present day characters talking and playing the VR game. In fact, we barely spent any time inside Red Coast itself. It doesn't even feel like a secret base/project. Besides the death of Ye Wenjie's dad - which wasn't adapted for censorship reasons -, nothing in this adaptation is honestly better than the Chinese version. I knew from the get go that 8 episodes, each with less than 60 minutes, would not be enough, but they are rushing. There's no way her character and motives will come across as understandable. This whole story is based on her past actions.
i know black + girl is going to piss some people off, but this show is really solid and worth a watch
i really enjoy slow burn shows, so the pacing didnt bother me in any way. i was enthralled throughout.
I think the very last scene could be skipped, otherwise wow
This show ruined Star Wars for me. It's my favourite Star Wars media and I know nothing will ever come close. It's not for everyone as it's quite the departure in style.
Premiere was a riot. Couldn't be happier Nathan is back to dissect our minds
the way this show thrives on making random characters sympathetic in the most mawkish way before brutally killing them off is actually sick!
“Second best.”
oh spontaneous combustion immediately. asap.
Easily the best episode of TV I've seen in years. Phenomenal.
It's all coming together, with what I think we're the best two episodes of the show. That was some ridiculously good writing and acting.
Saw this at a preview screening in Hamburg. To me, it felt like a realistic depiction of modern love that many people, including myself, have either seen or experienced. Franz Rogowski delivers an excellent performance, which deceives you into both hating and relating to him. All in all, it’s a great movie.
Ira Sachs was also a really nice guy during the Q&A. I especially loved what he said about the influence of ‘Taxi zum Klo’ on queer cinema.
An intriguing glimpse into a type of relationships that is characteristic of the modern era, a theme that still finds little space within both independent and mainstream cinema. While favoring everyday situations over drama, the characters' lifestyles are distinctive enough to evoke interest in the viewer. Both their flaws and weaknesses are relatable, yet spicy enough to stimulate sympathies and antipathies.
However, I must admit that a bit more fluidity and promiscuity wouldn't have hurt. Relationships consolidate and fall apart rather abruptly, lacking the transitional phases or casual sex that would typically occur in such a context.
I didn't read too much going into this movie, and I'm really glad I didn't. This movie was just an amazing journey to watch.
The opening sequence automatically caught my attention, just watching him build that set, and watching it slowly come to life to tell us this fantastic family story. I also loved how it was narrated by the grandmother, it added so much to the atmosphere. I really felt like I was getting this story told by my own grandmother.
I won't say much about the story but it was really interesting, and it just keeps you glued to the screen, wanting to know what happens next. It was also told in such a charming way that it got a few laughs from me, but also tears. The little interactions that the director had the with the set, and with his dad was also just so amazing that it stuck with me. It's nothing groundbreaking but such a nice tiny detail for you to remember.
Would recommend this movie for anyone to watch, if you don't mind mentions of war, and some other sensitive topics.
A quality installment, cinematically well done, well acted, visceral and compelling, but very predictable.
I hope this is the last season its so dsmn corny now ughh Im only watching cause Im already invested and I loovveee the AI guy
O.k., this is not just a television series; it's a deep emotional level cinematic masterpiece that seamlessly weaves together elements of action, intrigue, and cultural richness. I can confidently say that this one has probably left an indelible mark on the landscape of television storytelling and it for sure stole my heart.
The depth of the character is brought to life by the outstanding performance of the lead actor, skillfully navigating the emotional spectrum from stoic warrior to vulnerable human being. The choreography and cinematography of the sword fights are expertly executed, homage to Japanese culture, traditions, and history, adding a layer of richness and authenticity that elevates the whole thing on a top-notch level.
It's visual and auditory feast, demonstrating a commitment to excellence in every aspect of its production. Sets a clear example of standard for excellence in the realm of historical dramas.
A thrilling emotional ride...
Even if you only touched a basketball :basketball: just once, you have got to watch this! A window to a stunning sports history.
Boring. Just over the half of the movie and I don’t care of any of the character, I’m not interest of the plot and I don’ t understand what the movie want to tell. Worst marvel movie ever seen
By modern horror movie standards, it's a slow film. But that's because most people don't care about set-up and character development when they watch a horror movie.
Regarding how scary it is, horror is like comedy, it's all subjective. I think it's effective and extremely well made. There's a reason it crossed over from horror movie fans to mainstream audiences.
Absolute painful watch at times - the plot holes were a many. Imagine going to apprehend an arms dealer ALONE, for starters. S1 way better.
