Michaela Coel is a genius. The writing, the directing, honestly the whole thing had me riveted and emotional and I hope she wins some awards. Phenomenal work.
Michaela Coel sets the table for a necessary conversation about the true nature of drugs, sex, rape, identity, friendship and the complex moral and psychological issues surrounding victims of sexual abuse. Raw, brilliantly written and fulled with daring performances by the complete cast, I MAY DESTROY YOU invites audiences to talk about it and take action.
WHEN SHE HUGGED BEN!!!! I think that was one of the most emotional scenes I’ve ever watched in any show! It truly made me cry!!! Last episode when Ben was watching that video about feeling lonely made me realize that’s why he was fine being Arabella’s roommate and fine with paying the rent, cause he felt lonely and that way he had some company but now it’s more like Arabella realizing he’s a friend so that was such a cute heartwarming moment because it also meant Arabella was ready to somehow move on with her life and her friends and the good things in her life!!! That scene is for the ages!!!
I was more than okay with the first outcome! I was super nervous for them because like trusting Leonora to be responsible for the main part of the plan? And then Arabella’s disguise was ridiculous! She looked amazing for like a regular night out but for being lowkey it didn’t work. And then I realized what was going on and it was just an emotional rollercoster cause like no matter the outcome it wouldn’t give back to Arabella what was taken from her. And then that scene when she says goodbye to her abuser (I don’t wanna name him cause he doesn’t deserve it), like she commands him to leave and at the same time drags him out, that scene was so powerful.
A great closure to the story, I’m glad Michaela is safe and in a better place and can express herself and be recognized as brilliant and talented and strong!! Thank you for making this show cause it gave so many people a voice and representation and a community!
what happens when you falter under the weight of expectation?
this was headed pretty firmly into the adequate section for me until the third act when everything just really clicked. poor jean poor louis poor everyone. living in a box and trying to have somewhat of a life while still being what everyone expects. it chafes. you never wanted to be a pioneer but suddenly you are, and everything you do matters. it can be a tragedy or it can be a revelation and the only difference is everything. goodness.
Has Simon even apologized to Arabella?? Did he ever tried to reach out to her and see how she was doing??? He can’t put the blame on Terry, he was the one who made that choice! I mean Arabella could blame Terry if she feels like it, but not Simon! And wow I didn’t know how Arabella would react, it was very shocking and emotional, I guess she was taking into consideration everything Terry did for her during these months? And that somehow owned up to that bad advice by being by her side ever since?
I am 900% done with the Governor. please somebody kill that guy. Then kill him again.
Biagio is such an awful man! The way he felt no remorse about what he said to Arabella when she told him she was r:asterisk_symbol:ped and then locked her out and point a gun to her???? I get that breaking into someone’s house is creepy but she didn’t deserve to be treated that way.
Absolutely infuriating to see how the police handled Kwame’s situation without any sense of care or delicacy. The questions, leaving him alone, not caring if he was okay… he deserves to have a proper support system :(
Horrendous, human, and real. This series has knowledge and acts so humanly. It's so well acted, written, and directed.
Kwame :(((((
Also fck Zain! I just want everyone to know that what he did was so fcked up and even considered illegal, so disgusting!!!
I wish this episode was the first one cause we kinda lose track of the mood from last episode.
And oh wow I think it’s the first time I’ve seen in any show such a realistic portrayal of menstruation! I was even shocked cause for some reason it still is such a private topic that we barely see in the media.
Also I don’t understand Terry’s deal... last episode she looked kinda suspicious? Or like weird but I don’t know if that’s her worried face or like her guilty face? But how would she be involved in what happened to Arabella? And when she started crying it seems like she was crying for other reason so I’m not sure, and right after having what seemed like a good night with those guys she looked sad? And then she lied to Arabella about they still being there? There’s like a weird vibe in their friendship but don’t know if it’s real or it’s just me reading into it.
Omg it was so much drugs
The title of this series is no joke
This episode was better than the other and I loved the mystery and how she was discovering things. It seems to be more fucked up than I think.
Oh no, when she started realizing what happened and piecing everything together it was just so heartbreaking, I was crying with and for her, it really hurt.
Weird episode. Am I supposed to be sympathetic toward the Governor now? Guess what? I'm not.
I truly can't believe how good this show is. Every episode is better than the last so far. I mean I'm actually shocked. I wasn't expecting to like it at all.
I've been avoiding this show for years cause it just looked uninteresting. Just finished season 1 and it's so good. I always love comedies with deeper moments. It elevates both and this show did just that. I hope it doesn't go down the same path as Family Guy and South Park where everybody just becomes a 1 dimensional caricature of what they were in season 1.
merle's worthless ass finally dead WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
The only reason this episode got 7 from me was that we finally got rid of that bloody Merle.
that poor guy on the road though
this is so infuriating to watch bc IF ANDREA HAD JUST KILLED HIM NOW…. whatever. she has not changed since the shit with shane. she is doomed to be attracted to powerful manipulative men. i love beth’s song at the end because it almost gives a glimpse at what their life can be like if they survive this. it reminds us what they’re fighting for.
Very disappointed by Andrea, to be honest. Girl, you can't have it both ways. It's ok to choose the guy, but don't act like you're a friend to the people you're betraying. The series is so good now, can't stop binging.
I think this one was even better than the pilot, which was amazing. They are actually the Magneto arc from the comics and, by the looks of it, Madelyne Prior as well! Honestly I didn't see that coming at all and it puts a wide grim on my face. I am full on board now and seriously hope they don`t drop the ball after this astonishing beginning (pun intended). If they keep following the 90s comics this close this is gonna be the best X-Men project on screen ever, the likes of which I have been expecting and being constantly disappointed since the first movie from 2000.
Oh, and the fact the freaking Storm loses his power and ditches the X-Men was the perfect icing on the cake. I know it was supposed to be a tragic, emotional moment but I hate that character thanks to the way the voice actor chews the scenery harder than anyone on every single line she delivers! If she stays out for long, or maybe the whole season, this is gonna be perfection. I know it is too much to ask, but the hope on this show has allowed me to dream again.
Six claws up, bub.
Calling out discrimination and preaching tolerance? The X-men have gone woke!
-some clueless idiot.
Thank god that bastard didn't stay for long. We don't need another Shane.. I got so furious when he tried to kill Rick.
Now Shane would have been so proud! Don't you think?.. :)
