I am in the middle of the first season but I gonna say: this show is so good !
Since The Walking Dead is getting more and more boring, Homeland's season is over, and Breaking Bad's final season is starting in July I was looking for a TV Show which is exiting, got a central theme in it. Where you get surprised and the acting is good.
A TV show which is realistic and dangerous.
I found all of it with this show!
Since this TV Show is about the cold war I want to compare it with James Bond, and the second reason is I don't want to put spoilers in it:
I am pretty sure you know the older James Bond movies, where Bond is jumping of a cliff with no parachute, into a plane, gets control over the plane, destroying the enemy's base and got no scratches. Superhero Bond. No problems.
And then you know the newer Bond movies with Daniel Craig. Where Bond has problems. He's a drinker. Getting hurt, Getting scratches, simply more realistic.
If you know what I mean, then you know who the show is like.
Two KGB agents who are in the US for some years. Got two children. Have to live their whole life under disguise, which living a FBI Agent next door.
They like in some way there life as normal people and they do like in some way the people of America. But in their point of view the US government is evil. They what to build a anti-missile defense system (google Star Wars Bush), which would make the nuclear arsenal of Russia worthless. And they have to do something against that.
Lets see how the show develops. 9/10
I really think some people don't understand the history behind the "history" that are watching at all. Many people 'see', but not 'observe'.
This series have a lot of connotations, such politics and social, from a showdown with a dictator; unto to release of real feelings. Almost all characters have a full evolution of her personality... even Naga hahaha.
At first I agree looks like a little child's series, but think is a masterpiece in all respects. I recommend this series to all public, seen or not any other series of the Avatar's universe.
PS. James Cameron's 'Avatar' not included. xD
Pattinson is the best Batman ever.
he is so tortured, his emotions are sincere. He's the darkest and most precise batman out there.
the visuals and the soundtrack are incredible and take you into the thoughts of the character.
For me it’s a masterpiece.
Not allowed to do a review yet but I'll say this:
This is how you do a superhero movie.
This is how you do a war movie.
And the best comment of the night: "It was amazing, it made me believe I could become Wonder Woman." -6yo girl
UPDATE: I saw a movie so beautiful I started crying™
Stop rating movies before you even know they are in production!!!
The whole theatre burst into spontaneous cheers several times, and the whole theatre completely went silent - people literally stopped chewing their popcorn - on numerous occasions.
Like you've probably already heard, the movie REALLY is a phenomenal throwback to the original trilogy, with an extra oomph and insane amounts of creativity and new found inspiration that will take the franchise to a whole new level.
The characters are three-dimensional, it's nowhere near as strictly black and white, good vs. evil like in most of the previous movies, and Adam Driver as Kylo Ren is the best example of that. Hands down, the best villian to appear in the Star Wars franchise other than Darth Vader.
Daisy Ridley & John Boyega are thrilling to watch, the old cast members, popping in during the movie were just as fun to watch.
J.J. Abrams and the writers somehow managed to create a plot that was very confined in space and time, yet they effortlessly captured the grand universe that is Star Wars with some pretty great throwbacks to the old trilogy plot-wise. Some might argue that it's lack of creativity and unnecessary repetition, but I thought it was a wonderful homage. It flowed naturally and there really was no dull moment.
Absolutely phenomenal. :)
I REALLY don't get why most people didn't like it. In my opinion it really worked quite neatly
This episode is easily one of the best.
The opening 4 minutes alone are a masterpiece. One I can't watch without tears in my eyes. The raw emotion from Reese as he blazes a path of destruction tracking Simmons down is so powerful. Interspersed with all the others Carter's death has affected. Even Shaw channels her anger towards the goal. The only emotion that comes easy to her.
The dialogue and music in this episode really showcase what this this show is capable of. And the direction in general. Lionel's flashback always sticks with me. Watching again I noticed the lighting in Reese's flashback too. Illuminating his face in a skull motif to show what he represents - death.
Of course the progression of Root's journey in this episode is fantastic. And the ending... Elias taking him out is poetic and really punctuates Carter's path. That she earned the respect of this man.
The whole episode is bookended by the ECG machine too. On Reese at the start, and flatlining for Simmons at the end.
This show is a joy to rewatch
jennifer and needy are lesbians suffering from internalised homophobia and thats that on that
ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME ?!!??!?!?! I'M IN PIECES
last 15 mins I was having the most emotional full body reaction. I was sweating n crying n breathing heavy. I'M STILL CRYING NOW??
Wow. This was... beautiful. While I am sad to see Vera's arc come to such a sudden end, the last "act" of this episode was pure catharsis.
looking for a good short show to watch? look no further! the cast and the acting is ON POINT! the music, the editing, the cinematography, the story, ITS ALL A+!! everything about this show is amazing! a must watch!
Brazilian childhood: watching this show on Rede Record.
If there was a bit more character development, Rogue One would be one of the greatest films of the year. Either way, it was easily one of the best Star Wars films, and it got that way through likable characters, spectacular cinematograpy and a great final act.
Oh, and the Vader scene.
Well, I do not even know where to start! The Grand Budapest Hotel was one of my most anticipated films this year. My expectations were very high and I can say it exceeded everything I was expecting.
Wes Anderson is a very peculiar and original director, there is no one like him and his style is unmistakable. With an interesting filmography is great to see his improvement over the years. This film is a good example of that. All his usual filming techniques, color palette, the history, quirky characters and scenarios always full of details keep getting better with each film. I would like to give the main highlight for the set design that will get you literally gaping!
Wes Anderson wrote this film based on the books of a writer named Stefan Zweig and the entire universe that he created around this story is absolutely fabulous! The Grand Budapest Hotel is a famous hotel in the fictional Republic of Zubrowka in the European Alps. In it we follow the adventures of the important concierge Gustave H. and his recent apprentice Zero Moustafa, who go far beyond the Grand Budapest. Gustave H. has the particularity to like seducing older and wealthy hotel guests. After years of involvement with one of these ladies, she is murdered and Gustave is the prime suspect of her murder. Then it starts all this great, crazy and hilarious mess!
Ralph Fiennes shines in this film, his performance is magnificent as the concierge Gustave H. In each scene he enters he steals the show! His performance is the one with the most spotlight but he is always supported by a whole cast that play their roles genially. The young and recent actor Tony Revolori is also very good and all the scenes between him and Ralph Fiennes are wonderful, the two had a great chemistry and that is transmited beyond the screen. Big names like F. Murray Abraham, Bill Murray, Jeff Goldblum, Edward Norton, Tilda Swinton, Harvey Keitel, Tom Wilkinson and many others are all excellent in their small roles and sometimes we wished to see this talented names have a little more time on screen but each one has its importance in history.
Fun, colorful, with great dialogues and hilarious scenes, also leaving an important message about loyalty and friendship. Wes Anderson now elevates the bar very high, after this brilliant The Grand Budapest Hotel we are waiting to see what this great and unique filmmaker will do next. I think I can say that this happens to be my favorite film of him, because I think it is definitely his best and will also certainly be one of my favorites this year.
The best new Star Wars film in three decades and one of the most satisfying films of the year.
I wish this episode was the first one cause we kinda lose track of the mood from last episode.
And oh wow I think it’s the first time I’ve seen in any show such a realistic portrayal of menstruation! I was even shocked cause for some reason it still is such a private topic that we barely see in the media.
Also I don’t understand Terry’s deal... last episode she looked kinda suspicious? Or like weird but I don’t know if that’s her worried face or like her guilty face? But how would she be involved in what happened to Arabella? And when she started crying it seems like she was crying for other reason so I’m not sure, and right after having what seemed like a good night with those guys she looked sad? And then she lied to Arabella about they still being there? There’s like a weird vibe in their friendship but don’t know if it’s real or it’s just me reading into it.
Very disappointed by Andrea, to be honest. Girl, you can't have it both ways. It's ok to choose the guy, but don't act like you're a friend to the people you're betraying. The series is so good now, can't stop binging.
Calling out discrimination and preaching tolerance? The X-men have gone woke!
-some clueless idiot.
Ah loved seeing how Leighton and hot neighbour took care of Kimberly this episode. Super sweet.
Always here for Leighton embracing her smart side and being more than the rich girl cliché.
Perfect from the first minute 'til the end.
"You're right. You're a good detective, and a damn good friend." I squealed, I tell 'ya. Fusco deserves that after 3 seasons of taking shit from Reese.
The call from "Shaw" that was so obviously a trap but was still, at the very least, a driving force that moved the story forward wayyy forward. And I'm glad they at least now have confirmation that Shaw's alive, but finding out that she fed Greer and co. information about Root (and the glimpse of her at the end implying that it's true)? Shiiiit, my heart is breaking.
And goddamn if a Machine made me cry. "I will not fail you now." WTF.
Bonus: Root playing chicken with the Machine — our psycho's back with a vengeance (and very intense feelings). Harper popping back up, Finch dressed up like a homeless hipster "dope fiend", Root vs Martine part 2 (and part 3, the bed scene threw me off guard, holy shit!), Reese goddamn smiling. The Samaritan agents' handler's ominous warning going with the montage of scenes at the end? Chills. (And Control killing her? Bonus bonus! I love how unapologetically ruthless this woman is... as long as it works for/isn't directed at the team.)
When dominic said that he had a teacher that said that "all the infinite possibilties in the world rest in this one circle" (or something along those lines) it reminded me so much of Harold Finch's oddly similar speech in the second season about PI (3.14) and how the infinite numbers of it constitute the never ending numbers, letters, words, phone numbers, etc. A theory might suggest that maybe Harold did once teach Dominic at school. However, I do very much doubt it, so I am going to pass it off as a very nice touch and coincidence.
They couldn't keep track of the wigs? Very pink (we saw her painting), blonde, ash blonde, dark roots, no roots... all in the same episode/day
Wow, great show. It really tore me up at the end.
I kept wanting Finch to let Root help. Then I was hoping TM would break her out somehow. I really like the part where Root tells Finch that TM does not talk to him because it's respecting his wishes (the relationship he wants to have). TM is using him the way Finch is "programmed" to be used. TM has become more flexible than Finch.
It was always obvious that Reese had great respect for Carter but these romantic feelings seem pushed on us to quickly. They were just trying to up the emotional damage to were going to do. Besides we all know he likes Zoe.
Fusco come through again. He was not trained like Reese or Shaw to take torture, hell he wasn't even trained as much Carter. He sat there and took it and did not break until they were about to kill his kid. Then the tough, tubby guy broke his own thumb and choked the bitch out. I did wonder at the end why we didn't see splints on his fingers when he was in the car with Shaw.
Other than killing that dirty cop off screen Shaw didn't do much but she did have a few nice chats with Fusco.
I had not seen any promos for this episode and did not know someone was going to die. It all makes sense now though. Why Carter has had so much screen time. How they brought the father into play for the kid. The sudden romantic feelings. It all came crashing in on me when she told Finch she knew about TM. I knew Capt. Dick was still out there and just thought "They're going to kill her". It was still a rough watch. They killed the black person, again.
The ringing phone. It was annoying but I thought it was annoying in the right way. Reese was shot. Carter was dying. Finch was trying to cross the street and the phone kept ringing. The numbers keep coming. That's what I thought for the first few seconds. Then I wondered if TM had done it to save Finch "daddy" or if it was calling with Carter's number.
Finally, as the street gangs were chasing our friends, on the subway and through the streets, the phrase "Warriors, come out and play" kept running through my head.
This episode is amazing but the fact that Reese always saves the day with a perfect timing started to annoy me
Wow. I am absolutely speechless. That last half hour was probably one of the most amazing things I've ever seen on television. It touched me deeply and made me feel so many things, I can't even describe them. I've been sitting here, just staring at the screen for quite a while now.
Mr. F****ing. Robot.
Sam "We don't need to talk, I throw my name in the bucket of "the best episodes of the year" without writing dialogues" Esmail
I think Lucas and Konvar sum it up very well. Since episode 4 I've said what a helluva episode, and each episode keeps out doing the previous one. Jeez this show is amazing in so many ways.
