This is very similar to shows like Liar Game and Kakegurui. And I take that as a plus, as I really liked both of them. The games are creative and keep you guessing (or thinking up strategies?). The overall story is also quite interesting. If not for some wooden acting here and there, this will be almost perfect.
An OK movie, but not really scary, or even original. Scary noise in dark woods is something you can see in so many movies. It just shows the laziness to think about something new, that they would even have to explain. Like this, it's just random noises. Thats it. Yeah, really scary :face_with_raised_eyebrow:. There was a moment when I thought it would get better. When they find the extra person. I though they will show us the scenes again, with that extra person. It's not new, but can be done well. But no, it is just another thing that goes nowhere.
Boring, bloated, and just bad. Apparently, the book this was adapted from is better and completely different. Will try that instead.
I keep coming back to this one. I so wish I could watch this one again without knowing the ending. Really nice suspense, action and surprise at the end . Too bad the part 2 is not as good.
Hard to be objective, as this show is pure nostalgia for me. Saw it first time in my teens, in the 90s, probably with a German dubbing. Still, compared to how bad the movie was (this is based on), or the remake (I could not force myself to watch more than a few episodes), this was just great.
Many memorable and quite original episodes. Especialy in earlier episodes, characters like Libby and Willard Kreaft completely stole the show, and I guess more people watched for Salem, than Sabrina. The very strong supporting cast, really made it great. Not that much in later seasons though, where they get rid of them, and the writing went right into the trash.
Still, worth a watch and better than most of the stuff that's released now. After multiple repeats, I'm always just surprised how bad of a person Sabrina is. The show tries to portray her as a saint, but that is just not what she is. Totally selfish, manipulative, vindictive psychopath, would be a more fitting description.
I always wondered why I never finished this show. I tried multiple times, and each time I quit after a few seasons. And in the end, I found out why. I hate every single character in this show. They all suck and are just horrible people. I just can't force myself to care about them An the show trying to make Jim and Pam look like the "good" ones, pisses me even more. They are the fakiest, most horrible ones of all of them. Probably the only decent one is Toby, but of course, he is sh*t on the whole time.
A very decent psychological thriller. Not really a horror. Keeps you guessing and even tries to tackle some heavier themes. Went in a bit different direction than I though after seeing the trailer, but that can be seen as a positive, as it's not that predictable. Overall another good one from Takashi Miike.
I saw a billboard for this movie, claiming how scary it is. And scary it was. Scary how bored I was for the whole two hours.
But to be fair. The movie is well done. Some good actors, decent acting, and the directing was fine. It's not a bad movie technically. It's just so boring. You can have a stretched out movie, but you have to captivate the viewer at least a bit, to justify that runtime (think of the movie The Wailing or Svaha, which are btw. both much much better than this one). There is nothing here like that.
I could not even finish this in one go. If you are interested in seeing J.Lo arguing with Siri for about two hours, this movie is definitively for you. Bad acting, writing, effects, story, and almost all. This is content, not a movie.
A decent episode, with few interesting suprises. The ending felt quite abrupt, like they just ran out of time, but still not bad.
I'm torn on this one. On one side I really like that they just tried to make an entertaining movie. On the other side, it's just too bloated and mostly just stupid. But still watchable. I just wish they used the dog more. The dog just stole the show.
Maybe I'm just too old for this kind of movie. Where I loved Godzilla Minus One, I was mostly bored here. Maybe if I was 12. Thats about where the target audience for this is. Some cool fights and effects, but nothing with any substance here.
It has been a while since I read the book, but the start looks promising. Bit slow, but not the worst. Let's see how it continues.
Still as fun as the original TV show. And such a big tease for a second season. I hope it comes soon.
So many great actors, such a mediocre story. A real shame.
So good to see more Japanese movies in cinemas in Europe. Finally a reason to go again. By coincidence I went to a 4DX screening and boy, it was a lot of fun. Maybe too stretched in the beginning, as I think they tried to make it also for those who don't know the anime, but once it gets going, it is a rollercoaster ride (and in a 4DX theater, it was one, literally :) ). Anya just steals the show in every scene she is in. There are a few things that could have been developed more, but this is not James Bond, so I did not expect that anyway.
I watched this and The Cleansing Hour back to back. And, I think I enjoyed The Cleansing Hour probably more. While the premise is similar, that movie goes more to the point, while the buildup in this one feels just to slow. Still, not a bad horror. Once it gets going it's really good.
It was ok. Nothing new, nothing original, but few funny moments. Overall watchable, if yo don't expect too much.
A very faithful adaptation of what already was a great book. Too bad I read the book, and in the middle of the first episode I remembered the whole solution. Still, I really enjoyed seeing how they tried to obscure it, keeping the surprise.. If you like An then there were none by Agatha Christie, you will love this, as it is heavily inspired by that book.
Don't watch this if you have not seen the first one recently. You will miss too much. I just watched back to back both, and loved it. Great story, characters, action, martial arts, everything. This is easily better than all recent Marvel and DC movies combined.
There are a few funny moments, but overall its nothing special. It's even worse, when you take into account, that this is already a remake that changed very little.
Another great example, that while Apple can have all the money in the world, they can't create anything. Was Jobs really the only person there that had any taste?
While this started ok, it quickly became unwatchable, stupid story and stupid characters. Not sure what happened to Bryce, but she starts to look like the Michelin man. Have you noticed that none of the male spies were obese? I wonder why.
Always when I watch a show like this, I do hope that real scientists are smarter. But the older I get, I no longer belive that.
Overall, the underlying story is interesting, the show just is about everything, except that. There are a few good moments, but a lot of pointless ones. The moment where one adult had to explain to another adult that 43 + 8 is 51 killed all hope for this show for me
After rewatching Twilight zone, Outer limits, Tales from the Darkside and Tales from the Crypt for at least 5th time, I was looking for something new. And I stumbled on this show. Maybe be because I wend to it after watching so many great shows, but this was just bad. The acting and effects were good. The cinematography mostly also, just often too dark. But the stories were just boring, dragged out, uninspired, forgetable. I only like the 3rd episode, that showed a bit of originality. Skip this show, go watch better ones.
The TV show is much better.
While overall I enjoyed the movie, and the whole premise was interesting, in the end it felt more like a waste of time. Like you are going somewhere and everyone keeps telling you that you will see something cool at the end. And when you get to your destination, there is just nothing there.
This movie is like 50/50. 50% great, 50% complete trash.
The movie on its own is not bad, but the acting just drags it so down that it's hard to take seriously.
Nothing special. It got really annoying over time as she blamed everyone, but never herself.
Statham 10/10, fun as always, writing 3/10, uninspired and boring, everything else 1/10, and I feel I'm being generous. The only reason to watch this is if you like a Statham action, nothing else. If I did not recognize some of the actors from other movies/shows, I would think they were random people they found on the street—total amateur hour. And the whole dumb and dumber FBI act got tired so quickly. Why were they in the movie? What was the point?
