A simple story but with a whole lot of magic to it. Beautiful
Simply great!
A family movie with a serious tone.
Tito is the best. Why should I worry is a pretty good song. The story is fine and it has a short run time so that is nice. I had a good time.
I actually found this season fairly interesting as an origin story for the fairy tail guild. There was of course the usual fairy tail "friendship always wins" theme, but they were some more interesting themes that fairy tail really hasn't explored before.
I found that this show was actually fairly decent on its own. It doesn't have over-powered characters (cough-Kirito) and the main character is actually quite like-able and charming. There is a greater degree of character development and I can definitely say I enjoyed it more than SAO seasons 1+2. However, that doesn't mean this has flawed logic and some degree of craziness, this is a video game after all. I'd still recommend this if you aren't looking for a perfect anime.
This was such an incredibly powerful movie. Even a couple days later after watching it, I keep coming back to it, feeling like I should watch it again. Either I might’ve missed something the first time or maybe I just want to ride the roller coaster again. There’s an incredible gravity to this film just keeps trying to pull me back in. I play the scenes again and again in my head and the emotions of it all swell within me.
This was such a moving journey of bullying, self-hate, suicide, and perhaps, redemption. I will never think about the depression around me the same way, and because of this movie, I will never, ever hesitate to reach out to those around me. Just one hand can pull someone back from the brinks of despair and every life is worth it.
Wow I can't believe a show with so much sex appeal and fan service could actually have a decent story and great action scenes.
These aren't the recaps you're looking for. Move along, move along.
Misa: "I would never dream about living in a world without Light!"
L: "Yes that would be dark."
I knew that was going to happen at some point
I really found myself interested in the first half of the movie. The unique situation and characters were very well thought out and created some very neat concepts. Then the resolution of everything just felt random and disorganized to me. It was still worthwhile to watch but probably not something I'll revisit later on.
Breathtaking animations and a solid set of music throughout. You feel a slowness to the film at times, that builds slowly until the release. But it worked for the film.
There could’ve been more said, more words to explain how the characters felt. But I think it was more impactful because of what wasn’t said.
In a very short amount of time that the film takes, I was able to empathize with the characters and I love the relationship between the simplicity of their lives and the complexity of their emotions.
When the characters finally opened up to each other, it felt like a breath of fresh air. They were each drowning in their lives, lonely and looked down upon. But together, they could finally breathe.
It’s a simple story, but poetic and meaningful.
I’ll preface by saying, I really wanted to enjoy this show. But the reality is that each episode was like a 50/50 chance of enjoyment. Some episodes my eyes were glued to the screen, but others I easily found myself distracted, doing something else, or flat out ignoring the show in the background.
The twists are probably the most powerful part of the show. You really can’t figure out what’s going to happen beforehand. Perhaps there’s something about the sheer chaotic nature of the series that made it hard for me to root for the characters. Or maybe it’s simply the fact that every character has a fairly high chance of death in any given episode.
While I can’t say the series is great, it wasn’t garbage as others may suggest. I just couldn’t stick with it since fairly few episodes kept me interested.
I don't watch many animated movies but this one took my heart. It has really great story line and great work.
Why. Am. I. Crying. Right. Now?
This is a masterpiece like all Makoto Shinkai's movies are.
Beautifully animated and intelligently written story. I'm not a huge anime fan, but this is possibly the best I have seen so far.
I agree with everyone here in that this is an gorgeous looking movie and music and voice acting are great too. But while the story is interesting and beautiful it reveals quite a lot of plot holes if you think about the sci fi part of it. That's why can't rate 10/10 like most of you.
The music, animation, story. Absolutely beautiful movie <3
I do not usually comment, but is too great movie!, animation, story, feelings ...
I am literally shocked over this movie.
The artstyle has to be one of the most appealing one i've ever seen in anime, as well as beautiful emotional soundtracks.
The romance contept between Taki and Mitsuha was something unique and interesting that i've never seen before.
And the movie tells you what's happening between them both, and how they develop feelings for eachother,
without being able to see eachother in real life.
I hope to see such a beautiful anime movie from Makoto Shinkai again in the future.
I seriously have nothing i actually don't like with this.
It's a PERFECT MASTERPIECE and highly recommended for everyone to watch!
Oh my god this film !!! You really have to watch it. The end is like hanging onto a breaking rope and wondering if you'll live. Not sure if anyone understands but that's how l felt. My eyes were watering, l was hoping it would be alright.
Two thumbs up for this film. ❤️❤️
Possibly Shinkai's best work so far, and as a massive fan of both 5cm and Garden of Words I do not say that lightly. The animation is breathtaking as always but some scenes go beyond mere visual splendor and are just mesmerizing. The characters are so fun to be around and you'll find yourself rooting for them and hoping it all works out. I was slightly concerned when I saw the "boob fondling" scene in the trailer but even that becomes a genuinely charming gag throughout the movie, believe it or not!
As to be expected of Shinkai, the film also takes you on a roller coaster of emotional highs and lows and keeps you guessing how it will end until pretty much the last minute.
I cannot recommend this enough.
Modern Japanese animation classic that doubles as the highest gross box office in Japanese history. It was excellent. I'm not sure it was "top box office ever" excellent, but it was still good. Tells an extremely complicated story as far as time lines go, combined with body switching, and that's 2 things I'm a pretty big mark for so this was almost a guarantee I'd like it. Plus I love the soundtrack, I've listened to it way too much since it came out. It's hard to talk about without spoiling things as there are a lot of unexpected turns that change your understanding of what's happening. Not sure if it was as good as the best Ghibli or that, but it was close enough.
Cried like a little girl.
When you realize why this movie has this title... <3
One of the best Anime movies out there. Solid story structure, very appealing to every audience and amusive.
Movie drives your emotions in ways that aren't easily done. It's like Christopher Nolan made an Anime movie.
Best of luck to the director who produced this movie.
Wishing more Anime movies to be produced like this one.
Beautiful movie, the animation is indeed awesome and the characters are so lovable that hook you from the start. Emotional for sure, I was hoping for the ending to see how it ends, but at the same time hoping for more time with the characters. Great, amazing movie!
I was really hesitant to watch this movie because I'm no fan of Drama and I learn that anime that get a lot of hipe mostly are not as good. But I have to say this anime killed me it was so damned good. I mean the art is Beautifull, and the story is good and keeps drawing you in, and there is happing something all the time. I really love this anime it has to be the best anime I watch in a long time. And that something coming from me. I feel bad I been waiting this long to watch it.
What a beautiful movie! Made me tear up so much.
i watched this like months ago and i still can't get over how beautiful this movie is
