Just an amazing show! I can watch this over and over again and it never gets old. Really looking forward to seeing The Legend of Korra.
I'm gonna watch this show and LoK until the day I take me last breath.
I was recommended by a colleague to watch this show. To put it bluntly I was sceptical - it seemed just like a kids cartoon, and I am in my mid 30s - but I decided to give it a go, mainly because he kept saying "trust me"!
Over the past month I have watched the entire series and must say I was quite impressed. While it definitely is aimed at a younger audience, like all good children's stories it appeals to parents and children alike. If anything, it appeals to adults because it reminds them of what they loved about children's stories as kids.
The first season took a few episodes to get going. It took me a while to get into it and embrace the characters. The early episodes tend to be generally self-contained stories, however towards the end of season 1 the story takes off, and the story become much more serialised. From then on out it is a really enjoyable ride all the way through to the series 3 finale. If anything it gets better from season to season.
The animation is first rate for TV. I have never really watched any anime (or anime-style, in this case) series before so I was definitely going into this green, but I found the quality to be first rate. The characters were also very well written, and the constructed world of element benders was believable within its mythos. I highly recommend this to kids and adults alike. Better still, watch it with your kids.
At the end of the day, they are just telling good stories, and who wouldn't enjoy that?
I watch it when I need to get cheered up. In a way it's a family I turn to when no one is around...thank you for saving me a lot of times. I'm grateful this show exists. Acting is superb and I love how awkward it is, just like me sometimes haha. 10/10!
I really enjoy this show. Some of the scenes are laugh out loud funny and many others make you chuckle to yourself. As someone who seems to have been immunized against the 'humour' of Two and a Half Men and The Big Bang Theory its a relief to find a show like this.
Ty Burrell as Clive Bixby on his rendezvous cracks me up.
I don't grow up with this show, heck I just found out about it when the show already at season 5. So I marathon until I can catch-up with the latest episode back then. And it was the best decision I ever made. Everything about this show is so perfect, the cast, the joke, the drama, and the life lesson. I really wish that maybe, one day, I can have my own version of Modern Family.
I really can't believe this show gonna end
This show is the best sitcom currently on TV. With the colourful characters, and their responses to each other, whether silent, verbal, or physical... You can tell there is love, competition, jealousy, sarcasm, and inclusion (or lack thereof). Like someone else said, this show is better for those who watch consecutive episodes, rather than sporadic bits here and there from different seasons...
Modern Family does what's best in comedy: subtle awkward situations that make you laugh uncontrollably, even though if someone sees the same scene as you, they will never get why and how it's funny. You can't judge Modern Family based on some episodes seen sporadically, no, you'll have to go from the start and watch all of it, for the comedy to become apparent to you.
Some episodes are much better them others, this is a fun show at times, though no where close to the films, but if you like Kung Fu Panada you might get a kick out of this. I do like the development it gives to the characters.
I enjoy this show from time to time. My personal favorite is Monsters vs. Aliens. However, my mother watches this show almost every night to relax and go to sleep to after a long day of watching kids or working hard. I don't know how she would survive without it. Gosh Garry!
What can I say?. It's a Madagascar spin-off, and it works in both humor and fun. It has better graphics than The Penguins Of Madagascar, and the scenes have more texture detail. Then again, I'm here for the move it, move it and not the CGI. My only complain is that it's only 5 episodes, but it's a nice Netflix Christmas gift for the little ones at home.
Am I the only one who thinks comedy/sitcoms were better in general when they didn´t grew on trees?
Up to today "The Nanny" still is one of my all time favs. Although you knew from the start of the show were it would lead, and although they were using about every possible cliché, the characters grew on me and I not only watched for the good comedy it was but to see how the story and the characters evolved.
Today, whenever I happen to find an episode running, and it is still running somewhere, I can´t resist to watch.
Best TV show EVER !
Really enjoyed this more than I thought I would! Aidan Gallagher stole the show as Number Five- who returned thru time as the mature 5 but in his younger body. He really nailed the part until it was hard th believe he is actually just fifteen yrs old! Recommended viewing!
Aidan Gallagher is an incredible talent for his age I found myself really impressed with his performance.
The concept is good, the look is good, it should all be fun and exciting and right up my alley but for some strange reason I couldn't get in it. It's not a bad show but it's way too cookie-cutter I guess. It's nothing new. Add to this that the show is very long-winded... Episodes and scenes seem to go for ages and there's a lot of "quiet moments" scattered throughout the episode. Like the scene where they're in the veteran's-bar, you already know he was in Vietnam (clearly) but it goes on and on only to prove, with a picture, that he was in Vietnam...
Ellen Page (at least 5 episodes in, I'm sure something's gonna happen with her) , to me, is the weak link. She's as "unspecial" as the character she plays... (until she's not at the end of the show most likely) She's quite frankly just Ellen Page playing Ellen Page. Also... remember Mary J Blige? She's in here too! Being all percolated, crunked up in this dancery 'n shit.
All the main characters don't really FEEL fleshed out either. They have backstory but they still seem cardboard. They're not uninteresting or annoying or anything... The druggie is sometimes but he's too endearing to hate.
Due to this I don't know if this show is good or not. I like it though so I guess that's all that matters. It's forfilling, it does what it needs to do... It's a higher tier of junkfood that takes a couple of chews too much to get through. But at the end I'm sure you'll be satisfied but you didn't eat at a 5-star restaurant. And that's fine.
I wonder how Doom Patrol will be...
I enjoyed it without being completely blown away.
Exploring the family dynamics of estranged adopted siblings with a wide range of super powers and a horribly emotionally abusive and exploitative father AND an apocalypse- things are gonna get weird.
The story was not predictable- certainly weird, but I didn’t know what was going to happen, which is good.
Some characters were better than others - Klaus, self-medicating his disturbing power with illicit drugs and Hazel the sympathetic time-travelling hitman in particular worked well for me.
The use of music was great. Some great songs giving a backdrop to many of the action pieces, plus Vanya’s classical music vibe.
Was it really as great as everyone says?
Only you can answer that, I personally believe it’s a modern 90s sitcom which struck a nostalgia chord in me. It’s characters were quirky and interesting to watch and the story line was good enough, lastly, the most important thing is that the jokes were able consistently make me smile or on occasion laugh. This show for me is plain old fun.
However, what I love about this show is not anything to do with all that. This show was in its fifth season when it caught my attention. I was at university and my friends and I would binge it. It quickly became a part of our routine and whenever I watch it now it brings back all of this memories of fun and freedome that came with that part of my life.
This is not the best show ever, but I will always love it,
Excellent finale. They did go out with a BANG.
hate to see this show end. I've been watching these guys so long that it felt like I was losing personal friends. I will miss these guy's.
This was a favorite of mine for years.
Normally i would gave it 8/10, but it deserves +1 for a nerd show with which I can find common traits. ;>
After 12 years of watching this fantastic comedy sitcom it has come to heartfelt ending.
It is genuinely one of the funniest shows on TV with a fantastic cast and great chemistry. Sheldon Cooper maybe arrogant, self centered and in capable of emotions or empathy but you are rooting for him in the show and he quickly rises to be the star of a fantastic group. They really do come together as family and you want to hang out with these people, after 12 years of watching this show you think of Howard, Rajesh, Penny, Leonard, Bernadette, Sheldon, and Amy as friends that you really do know. They all have their stories to play out but you just don't know what to expect and when it does you love it.
They kept it relatable and especially to us nerds and that of the comic kidding, and now that Marvel is king it only made us even cooler. And seeing how nuts these guys are about Marvel, Star Wars, and Star Trek made them relatable to us and through everything they have been through we can relate to them.
The ending was genuinely perfect, the gang back together over a meal. We just haven't had enough of them.
This is definitely getting a second season and I'm all up for it. The cinematography is gorgeous and the soundtrack fits perfectly with its themes. It addresses important topics that should be discussed amongst teenagers in such a natural, easy way.
The whole cast does a great job. I'll never get tired of saying that Asa Butterfield is a fantastic actor and deserves to get more recognition urgently.
the show should've ended with all of them dying due to the asbestos exposure
i dont know about u guys but asa butterfield AND gillian anderson? ive never been so on-board before
UPDATE: just finished it and MAN you all need to watch this. its a mastery of crushing cliches and good writing!
I haven't had this much fun with a (sort of) sex centred show since Californication! The characters are instantly likeable, the soundtrack is not only very good on its own, but also neatly adjusted for the show. Like others have mentioned, the cinematography is superb, every time I'd watch an episode I'd feel as if I had just bought a new TV. It's that good!
These characters are so adorable and well written that one can't help but laugh with them, get angry with them, get horny with them, and cry with them throughout the whole show.
Sex Education makes me wish I was in a relationship that was broken just to get sexual advice from Otis. Damn, that kid is good!
And here's a shout-out to the guy who had things worse during the first season: Gillian Anderson's sink. We feel your pain, bro.
Pretty dull show that has its occasional moments but nothing too memorable. Go watch The Inbetweeners again instead.
A fantastic series that totally deserves another season. Throughout the whole show, you are conflicted on who are the good people and who are the bad ones. Themes of discrimination, racism etc. are very prevalent in the story and are represented accurately. A super enjoyable, bingeable show that will keep you intrigued ~ M
