Nate's bromance with Dan is so endearing and hilarious.
The development in Chuck's and Blair's characters, and consequently their relationship, is quite interesting. Blair is still trying to get over high school and her games, while Chuck is trying to step out of his dad's shadows and become a legitimate businessman on his own. Blair struggling to come to terms with violating Chuck's trust, which we didn't even know he values, but (almost) redeeming herself in the end was so nice. Especially after we see them talk about how they should be able to trust each other completely (in order to be a team)! Interestingly, that talk was upon Chuck's prompting- a nice foil to Dan and Serena's relationship which ended on more than one occasion due to their inability to confront their issues and reconcile.
Rufus and Lily are so cute too. He's so cute being all excited and in his Ramones costume. Lily parenting Jenny was such a sweet moment too.
I love how this and the previous episode were able to tie together so many convoluted storylines in such a neat and satisfying way.
This episode was so full of deceit and double crossing, I am so entertained. My favorite scenes include Blair and Chuck's game, Olivia (truly a new fave) talking about the Bu, double "oh no"s, and Lily calling Blair out and being protective of Chuck.
I hope Vanessa and Blair will become friends, or more accurately in their case, just two people who see eye to eye and may or may not respect each other, eventually.
incoherent rambling
Seeing Nate and Chuck being so done with Blair's antics was funny. And Chuck's expressions!!
I'm hoping Scott would be less creepy from here on out.
THIS EPISODE !!! I CRIED !!!! we leap huhu
The last scene was peak comedy!
General Amaya!!!! I would love to see more sign language and representation in animation and other media.
That was sad :(
I really loved the scene where Claudia tried using her hand as a light source. The other dark magic scenes were so cool too! Wondering whether they would unshroud more about dark magic because I'm excited.
Things that annoyed me: Serena not wanting to go to college because she did not want to give up on finding herself like why is her understanding and expectations of real life so messed up ?????? Olivia having two sides of her: Normal Olivia (Kate) and Olivia Burke the actress. I mean people compartmentalize, but her whole thing is just so weird. I also feel so sorry for Blair struggling to move on from high school.
Things I loved: Rufus impersonating Lily. Dan being cute and clueless about Kate's True identity. Chuck trying to help Blair adjust to college.
Another thing that annoyed me: Not seeing Blair and Chuck roleplaying as tutor and tutee.
Chuck being an annoyed brother with good intentions, and Rufus wanting to be a father to Eric and Serena were so heartwarming. I wish we would actually see (more of) Chuck and Rufus together later on.
I like Dan's blooming confidence (I bet it's in his sideburns), and I kind of hate how Vanessa is so adamant on him being the Dan she knows. Seeing Blair struggling to adjust to college is also so funny and entertaining.
I am loving Chuck as a boyfriend and businessman (?). Seeing him in suspenders!! WOW !!
A little too predictable, slow, and black-and-white for my taste, but I really love the character designs. I laugh every thime the egg is brought up.
Decided to check this out because of Avatar's creators- I didn't think that this would be LotR meets AtLA.
I love the art and the animation; it's like a beautifully rendered video game. The characters are cute, and the story seems promising.
Serena and Vanessa are annoying. Rufus is as sweet as ever. Blair and Chuck's foreplays are kinda hot. That's it.
Gossip Girl: Serena van der Woodsen is going to be irrelevant
Serena: wow we HAVE to END Gossip Girl
I love Gossip Girl but the show has such a knack for dragging an episode on especially when you think it's over.
"And what the hell is Butter?"
Cons: Serena telling her mother she's sorry for hurting friends and family, but she misses her careless and reckless lifestyle.
Pros: Dan being a cater waiter, Eleanor being stressed and desperate for company, Cyrus trying to share his traditions and just giving up, Nate having another public outburst, and Chuck just being horny.
WHY DOES SERENA WANT TO BE THE VICTIM SO BAD ???????????? She already admitted to throwing the party for herself, but then she paints Lily and Jenny as the ones pinning the blame on her?????
I surprisingly like Chuck and Serena's relationship dynamics. I am amused by how Blair doesn't become self-destructive but even nastier to other people
I really thought the anonymous tip and secret society storylines would extend into an arc. This episode was fun and hilarious, and I really enjoyed Dan and Blair's argument, and the Blair and Chuck ending scenes!
What is up with Chuck's storyline ??
Cons: Sucky Serena x Dan drama. Serena being selfish at Bart's funeral. Serena getting mad at Lily for marrying Bart when she was the one who pushed her to do so.
Pros: Chuck with tousled hair. Nate and Blair taking care of him. Cyrus and Blair being sweet. Chuck and Blair. Blair and Chuck.
Who's Bart Bass???
Never thought I would see Chuck smile and laugh! He, along with Blair, also has some really good lines here too.
You hooked in a bass.
Bulldog. Rah rah rah.
Yes. It was.
JENNY'S LOOK IS SO BAD. Her whole storyline was so uncomfortable too!
Kaguya-Sama Love is War is super cute, and so is Blair and Dan's weird friendship.
Nate is really starting to grow on me. Such a cute dumb boy.
Humphrey men asserting themselves! Dan can and should date whoever he wants without having to care about Serena's feelings, and Rufus shouldn't be some secret fling or boy toy for when she's bored and unhappy about her marriage. Dan and Humphrey calling Serena and Lily out was SO GOOD.
That scene with the creepy teenagers in the park was so funny I could forgive it for being stupid. Also strange seeing adults and teens portraying people within a small age range together.
I love Blair for being real. She, along with Chuck, are so manipulative and really take advantage of their privilege, but at the very least, they are not self-righteous or victim-y about it- unlike Serena "Do you still think I get special treatment?" "You should have mentioned my name" van der Woodsen. That argument she and Dan had in the elevator really brought out her hypocrisy and general asshole-ness. I cannot stand her so much.
I also still do not understand what happened with Nate and Vanessa, and how Catherine came into the picture. Also do not understand why Vanessa is so pushy on Nate; they might be friends or whatever, but it's up to him to open up about his personal life when he wants to whom he wants.
Jenny's storyline was predictable but still cute and makes you root for her.
Madchen is so beautiful! I also hate that Serena and Dan are back together. What the hell.
I also just want to say that that scene wherein Chuck and Blair were in green, framed in the middle of the trees was so gorgeous. The songs in this episode were great too!
Kind of scattered and all over the place, but a fun ride. Seeing Dan scheming with Blair was a treat.
There is just something about seeing the powerful, good-looking and (mostly) smart Blair, Chuck, and Nate standing together and being good friends to the pathetic, self-sabotaging Serena.
I love Rufus and Lily both as individuals and as a team so much. I'm also hoping we see more of Eric because I really like his character.
Vanessa x Nate is the worst thing to ever happen on this show so far, but at least we got some cute Dan x Blair (friendship) moments.
Georgina is clearly terrible, and unlike Blair and Chuck, she does it for fun, but she has a point: Serena is the one who made all the decisions. I know it's for the purpose of having a conflict, but Serena deciding to keep Georgina's presence a secret + indulging her whims just makes her so irritating. We also see her telling Chuck to keep the doors open to accomodate her negligence; "I don't receive special treatment!" Whatever you say, Serena.
An adventure of epic proportions that isn't too epic. The war and whatever happened after feel so forced. I also feel like the creators were trying too hard to convey some deep message along with the use of the surreal visuals. Them poking fun at themselves ("you were supposed to have an epiphany") got too old really fast too. I was kinda underwhelmed, but the tragedy of Simon and Betty and the songs salvaged the episode for me.
