Very improbable and overdramatic version of The fugitive. I knew I've seen it before, but I didn't remember it very well, and now I've seen it again - the reason for not remembering is obvious. It's not very memorable movie.
It's not a bad movie, but it's not Sawshenk redemption. It's very, very slow paced however, and besides the acting is good, I really can't fathom David Rasche - a.k.a. Inspector Sledge Hammer as the bad guy. And if you like me wonder the whole movie why is the other cop is so familiar, the reason is he gave Indiana Jones the fedora.
I started watching the season yesterday thinking I'll do it at one time - one episode after another. After episode 7, just before the climax, I went to bed. This is how intriguing Ahsoka is.
I liked this episode much more than the first one, albeit it's corny and somewhat cliche. Mostly I liked the resemblance of Dooku and Qui-gon's models to that of the real actors who plays them in the motion pictures.
This was horrible. So, when Ashoka is 1 year old, her mother takes her hunting... I wonder what could go wrong... Ashoka's mother tells her that whole life is sacred, then - bang! She kills a giant kangaroo that she obviously can't carry home for the meat, but it's ok, because she says she'll take only what she needs. Then a saber-tooth attacks them and kidnaps Ashoka... I liked the animation and colors, but the writing is abysmal and stupid.
Does this guy Jackson have some fetish with 3 hour long trilogies? It's sooo boring.
Loved the Beatles. Peter Jackson, you cunt!
Millie Bobby Brown shouldn't be an actress.
Directed by Bryce Dallas Howard - the queen of filler.
Not only it has nothing to do with the novel, but the movie is extremely stupid and boring.
The plot makes zero sense. But I gave 4 stars, because of over the top title, good action and cinematography and performance by Lasky - a.k.a William Berger.
The only reason I give this 2 stars is that I've watched Bad boys 2 and it's worse.
In whole I liked the season. My favourite ofc is Jessica Lang. She is such a great actress, though at times her performance was a bit over the top reminding me of the bland remake of A Streetcar named desire she was in together with Alec Baldwin. I didn't like the ending so much, and I definitely hated the episodes where they stole/took the music from Coppola's Dracula. Dracula is thousands times better movie than this and hearing the same intense music here is annoying. Imagine you are watching some series about fishing with Dr. Paul and... Suddenly - Bam: tum-tum-tum-tum-tum - "jaws theme" - what would you think?
Well, definitely worse than first three. The transition into the internet age of the franchise is not well done. In 2007 internet was actually not that global and for many people was like magic, but from today point of view the movie is totally unbelievable. But that wasn't the greatest problem of the film. The problem was John McClane. It was established so far that McClane is a bad ass motherfucker, but always he was a kind of a underdog. And In DH4 he is like a superhero. He shoots down a chopper with a car and then takes down an f35 with a truck for example. Regardless, I enjoyed the movie, the action, the clever McClane one liners. I loved the acting of the crew, especially Timothy Olyphant who is as good as previous villains.
This is a terrible, terrible movie! Does it deserve 1 point? No. Are there worse films - yes. But this is totally boring movie, that has been promoted as Liam Neeson flick, so it deserves a higher criteria in valuation and thus for me it's complete bullish. The movie is so ordinary and the script is so bland it's painful to watch. It is one and a half hour long that slogs like 3 hours. An action movie, that I had to sleep through before watching the last 20 minutes, that's how hopelessly unwatchable it is. Obviously Liam Neeson is at the end of his career, but he is a good actor and it is shame that he has been stereotypically cast in the last 10 years playing the same role of ex-spy, ex-marine, ex-commando etc. who has been put in a place to protect innocents over and over again, which ofc is his role in The Marksman. The movie is not as appalling as any DeNiro movie in the last decade, but still I would rate it lower than that. Because sometimes even a bad movie can have more entertaining value than an average movie. For example, I'd rather see Chuck Norris Missing in Actionthan any movie Neeson or Deniro did in the last 10 years.
They make a hole in the head of the most annoying ensign Tilly. With a drill. Unfortunately she survives. Suru also survives after dying for most of the episode. Thus, for the viewer enduring one and a half hour of boring cheesy farewell dialog is pointless and painful.
So, the most annoying ensign Tilly, who btw weights about 80 kg., wins the marathon of the ship. It happens before opening credits, so I'd not mark it as spoiler, but yes - this is how believable the entire show is.
I do have a problem here. I was very exited that Perry Mason show is live again, because I really love Erle Stanley Gardner's works and also when I was a kid in the 80's I loved Perry Mason show. Also I love Ozzy Osbourne song:
On his way to dinner, when it took him by surprise,
And with one pull of the trigger, he would vanish overnight.
Dancing by the roadside, holding on for dear life,
Then a gun from out of nowhere made a widow of his wife.
When I was in my very first class in the law school, the teacher said: "I know you all want to be heroes as in a John Grisham's novel..." and at that point I interrupted him yelling: "No, Perry Mason!" "I'm going to be Perry Mason!" He of course looked very disappointingly at me, but this is something I'll never forget.
And now we have this monstrosity as Perry Mason show. Why? Perry Mason is a LAWYER! He loves his profession, he always keeps the law, he is so self confident and wise and in the end brings justice to the bad guys, solving the crime.
Is this the case in the new HBO series? No, Perry Mason here is a lowlife private detective taking porn pictures and extorting people for cash, while fucking the bad woman from "Queen of the south" show. Why? Really why? They could have titled this stupid show whatever they wanted - like "True detective", "Law and order", etc, but no, they had to call it Perry Mason to trick people like me watching it.
I am not saying it is total crap, because I've seen only the first chapter, however I think it will be. Besides not being Perry Mason series, it's obviously a slow paced slog with more filler than substance.
As other of De Palma's early works - it's too "artistic" but slow paced. Also the outcome was visible from kilometers as the make up department didn't do a great job.
Not typical Star wars stuff, rather reminds me of Star trek.
I'm done. Now it sucks. Teresa Mendosa is now like Russia - the only cocaine cartel leader with a heart of gold, who got at the top with only good attitude and being polite. Sucks a lot
It's not a good movie. While being historically accurate, the problem of "Midway" is that it doesn't depict the battle in apprehensible way. So you watch some airplanes fly, so you see the flack, so you look at some not great SGI aircraft carriers and listen to a story of how USA has trapped the japs. Then you see more airplanes fly, and further more airplanes fly, and even more airplanes, but what exactly has been happening is never explained. In fact I watched the movie, understood nothing, then I watched 20 minutes documentary on YouTube that explained everything that happened in the battle of Midway very thoroughly and then I said, "oooh yeah, oh that was really what was going on, ooh these airplanes were the first squadron, and those where the second squadron, etc. and now it makes sense, oh yeah. Now I see the movie is true to the story". But that is exactly the problem. Why would I need to see 3 hour long movie which doesn't tell what exactly happened if I could easily be more entertained and informed if I saw a documentary movie. Really, on youTube they have great videos, depicting the Midway battle, with maps, detailed explanations and animations that are far more interesting than this... thing.
I didn't like it overall. It felt rushed and the scenario did a lot of shortcuts just for moving the plot forward. For example one asks: "How do you know something?" And the answer is "I have a feeling". There are so many plot holes and so little suspension of disbelieve. They tried to insert some false drama, for which no one cared so much. For example when in the end of "The Last jedi" Skywalker became one with the force while mirroring the scene of "A new hope" when Luke's journey started with the beautiful musical force theme playing, it was very touching. As Episode 4-6 are the movies of my childhood, the scene of the old dying Luke was very sad, because, I guess, the star wars story is a part of my life. I perceived my self as Luke probably and I thought that Luke will always be the young jedi who I've seen in the first movies. So when Luke died, it was kind of a reminder for my own ageing and mortality. In this movie I didn't have such notion. I was indifferent.
I liked the visuals a lot and the music was really great. Some of the music was variations of Knights of the old republic game soundtrack, which is marvelous. Unfortunately the presentation alone is not enough for making a great movie. Anyway, now it's over and hopefully we'll get something new and in a new direction as Rogue 1, which I liked very much.
Besides the acting of the child actors, which is very good and is a remarkable achievement, the movie is boring as hell and totally overrated.
I wouldn't rate it with 1 star, because there are much worse movies in the world, but I wouldn't praise it either. It's very slow paced thriller, that relies mainly on loud volume noises to startle the viewer for frightening effect. It is also hard to accept Harry Potter in role that is not Harry Potter. Overall a mediocre movie.
For me - this is one of the lowest points of the series (not counting Jar-Jar staring episodes). As season opening they obviously tried to make something different, setting the story underwater, but they didn't succeed. I've seen Clone wars series at least 3 times and the first 3 episodes of season 4 are certainly most boring in my view.
