Silent Night

I..., I..., I went in blind. Just finished. I'm speechless, but I don't know if for better or worse.

I thought the performances were good, the kids were fantastic (Roman, well done). Lily-Rose as well.

There's nothing I can say without spoilers other than if you're at the halfway mark and bored, you can safely end it.

Personally, I couldn't look away.

The Lazarus Effect

Good intro to horror movie for those who don't like horror but love disappointment.

The Void

With an atmosphere of dread and isolation, the Void works even if only for its visual appeal and body horror.

The Woman in the Window

The tempo was all over. The music was great, but way over the top, especially the first ~20 minutes of the film. You don't know what's happening, but you feel manic. I never rooted for any of the characters.

Fantastic acting with a great cast, but a rushed story and over the top editing made this fall flat.

Sissy

Some epic deaths and good fun throughout, though I'm admittedly showing my age not understanding most of the social media and influence dialog.

Good horror and a learning experience.

In the Tall Grass

Would have been better served as a pamphlet than a feature film.

No Exit

Not much a story, but the acting is sound and there are much worse ways to spend 90 minutes.

Play Dead

Chloe fakes her own death to break into a morgue.

Farfetched and not very memorable. O'Connell does what he can with this ridiculous role, but "Play Dead" somehow manages to be over the top and underwhelming at the same time.

The House That Jack Built

How this went under my radar for so long I don't know, but worth the wait.

First and foremost, this movie is fucked. You will see things that are disturbing, not_necessarily_ gory, but disturbing nonetheless. Seriously, you've been warned.

That aside, this was a ride, one that had me tensing my legs and clenching my jaw until the inverted credits started to roll (hey, just figured out why they're inverted now that I'm typing this). Dillon is superb, in both his acting and more so his narration. Supporting cast also great, but Dillon really carries this one. His stoic and monotone demeanor are terrifying once you see what he's capable of.

Fast paced and fluid, The House That Jack Built has a lot of re-watch value. The cuts to archival footage are long enough to be interesting and short enough to not be tedious, giving you a brief reprieve (at times) from the last "incident" you viewed.

The Outfit

Superb.

The cast is superb; Rylance carries his role with such conviction and grace it's hard to believe he's acting. The rest of the cast also deliver stellar performances.

The story, the pacing, the backdrop, the music... all of it culminates together into a wonderful experience.

The Outfit aims for perfection and does not miss.

Flight 7500

I watched it twice.

The story has no depth.

The film has no tempo.

The characters could be replaced with cardboard cutouts.

There's no one to root for, the stories premise works against itself.

Jackass Forever

This is technically the 4th full length prank/stunt movie the Jackass crew released, a feat in itself.

But they're hilarious, and Jackass Forever may be their magnum opus.

However, if you're grossed out by the opening green monster scene, this isn't for you.

Scream

As forgettable as every other Scream passed the first... not to say you won't enjoy it as much as you did the other Scream films.

The story even seems jaded with itself.

Without spoilers, we'll say the original players act more like coming out of "retirement" is a nuisance instead of what the viewer is supposed to interpret as a responsibility.

Offseason

This just fell flat, more like remembering a fuzzy nightmare than a complete story.

Coherence

It's a dinner party. The set is a dinner party, at a house with no other houses. There are actors and dialogue.

The world created here with so little is admirable and the result is stunning.

One of those rare gems you can watch again and again and still pick up something new with every watch.

Highly recommended.

The Skeleton Key

Great all around; acting, story, pace, atmosphere. Watching a 2nd time is as fun if not more than the 1st.

Ghost Ship

A by the numbers, late 90's horror movie. At the very least, it's entertaining and well paced.

Midnight Mass

Incredible. So well written, directed, acting... I sincerely can't think of anything I would change or err on.

One of the series biggest strengths is the environment it creates and wraps you in. To that end, do yourself a favor and dedicate time to watching this.

Don't let it play in the background, you'll miss a large part of the experience.

Reno 911!: The Hunt for QAnon

If you like anything RENO 911!, then watch it. It's great.

If you're new to RENO, but like dry humor and 90's style comedy hits, give it the first 20 minutes as a litmus test.

p.s. It's about time they have a gorgeous picture of Mary Birdsong as her profile.

The Matrix Resurrections

This pays 100% fan service. If that's not what you're looking for, look elsewhere.

The Matrix Resurrections

It pays fan service, no doubt. If you're a fan, it's worth the watch. Period.

If you enjoyed the trilogy overall, it's worth the watch.

If you loved the first, loved the action in the second, and hated the third, wade the waters and Wikipedia the plot before diving in, it's as long as the first 3.

Halloween Kills

This portrayal of Michael is incredible. He really feels like this unstoppable force who is so consumed with murder, he can only focus on his current kill before getting bored and hunting the next.

The scene that starts with the drone... the way it ended... that's Michael Myers.

Grave Encounters

Usually not a fan of the found footage, but they pull this off brilliantly with the film ramping up its chills and intensity every minute.

Another Round

Great film. Mikkelsen and the rest of the cast are spot on. The film is not just about consumption, but about the risks you'll take to break free of the mundane life so many feel trapped in, and the consequences for breaking those shackles.

Well done. Debunking the most farfetched and dangerous lies in a compassionate way. Most episodes are less than 8 minutes.

Fear Street: 1978

I have to run through this a second time. I couldn't get past all the 90's teenage angst. It went from waxing nostalgia to annoying quickly.
