The show continues to disappoint with its narrow focus on Michael's emotions and personal journeys. It strays from the Star Trek ethos of exploration and diverse perspectives, centering almost exclusively on her character. This approach diminishes the broad appeal of the universe, reducing what could be a rich tapestry of interstellar storytelling to a monotonous solo narrative. The series might more aptly be titled 'The Michael Saga: Emotions in Space,' as it fails to capture the quintessential ensemble spirit that has defined Star Trek's legacy.
Ok so this episode turned the show 180 degrees. I feel no sorry or empathy for the guy, he is mentally ill and sexually depraved. And to know that HE is the actual real man it make this show very very sick.
The narration is way to much after the first episode.
Anyone get the feeling that this is what preceded the events in the Expanse?
Nice to see Timothy Olyphant in anything StarWars. I never realized I needed that. Then again Olyphant, should be in everything.
Awesome episode, one of the best.
That was the weakest episode of this season so far.
And I still don't understand why they needed to name a "random recurring character" James Kirk for no apparent reason, since it's obviously not Kirk (they could have called him Jim Carrey).
Now I have seen 2 episodes it's clear that this show is what many Trekkies have been looking for : mystery of the week with some food for thought, camaraderie, some humor and (if it's not to much of a bother) some pew pew flying stuff in space.
Mount, Peck and Romijn hit the ground running in their own spin-off but Gooding as Uhura is amazing. Can't wait for an episode focused on the medical team. Of course I can't help but like Ortegas and La'an, although I see some similarities with a certain Naomi Nagata & Camina Drummer, but I'm certainly not complaining about that.
The special effects are amazing and the writers do an excellent job with giving known characters more depth while still respecting what other writers have done. The way they get Pike's command style smack dab in the middle of Archer and T Kirk is very impressive. Strong characters but with flaws. This is a crew I would actually like to be part of, something that hasn't happened since Enterprise ( Team Trip Tucker all the way )
If they can keep this up I say : "6 seasons and a movie"
excellent series and these writers did a superb job !! they should be doing the writing on the discovery series because the writers doing it now suck.
thank you for an excellent scifi adventure! you all did a great job!!!
Hey Fenkins - this is a story already written many years ago by Stephen King. It’s a book. They are doing that because that’s the book. Good vs Evil. Heaven VS Hell. Literally the whole point of the story. You must feel silly.
The “almost showing the detective” thing is getting old!
The Chernobyl disaster is something that has always been of interest to me. Even though this is a dramatization not a documentary, it seems to be striving for accuracy and realism in its depiction of the event. I watch a lot of Horror and I'm probably desensitized by that frequency. But this episode had my heart thumping as the plant workers and firefighters fought the disastrous explosion. It's scarier than any Horror film that I've seen in a long time.
This episode did a great job of recreating '80s Soviet Union Pripyat. The architecture and styles looked accurate. The most stunning recreation was the stifling bureaucracy and buck-passing that was no doubt present in the Soviet socialist state. So many layers of supervision. So many organizations and titles. This episode appears to accurately portray the dismal, incentive-sucking grind that citizens of a communist society experienced.
