Awesome series!
If you are familiar with physics, astronomy, mathematics, theories, you will recognise a lot of stuff used in this show. I'm not sure about the novel, so I'm only referring to the show.
The philosophical questions are also relevant, and many have been asked before, and many were recently asked.
I can't believe they were able to combine these different school of thoughts into one cohesive story. I haven't seen a story like this before. Usually, sci-fi authors would only focus, at most, 5 to keep it simpler for the audience, but in this show, it's out-of-this-world.
The animation part was also great. They combined two types of art, and that was amazing. Also, some would probably critic how the movement of the animated characters are not fluid, but that's the whole point, it was intentional. It captured the 'game feel'.
Overall, from episodes 1 to 16, each episode felt like watching a 45-minute movie. They spent a lot. It wasn't half-baked. They were consistent in quality every episode.
Highly recommended!
I was skeptical after reading the other comments, but it is indeed, the worst season of the show and by far.
Worst of all! Don't bother watching...
So BM went in a totally new direction. Too bad. Episode 1 was the best. The rest seem to have been written by AI. Predictable and not engaging at all. Dark (badly lit). Boring. What gives?
You want some good fantasy/horror? Try African Folktales. Much better imo.
Cheers!
Other than the first episode, rest of them didn't feel like "Black Mirror". Episode 3 was very good story and little bit of the mood. Rest of the episodes are barely passable.
This isn't Black Mirror.
Please let this have been a mini-series and be done with it. After watching this season, it is clear this show was not necessary. Please Disney, don’t make a season two.
For me, this is perhaps the most disappointing season of television I have ever watched. I almost said second most, remembering that Game of Thrones season 8 happened - but if I'm being honest, my expectations for season 8 of Game of Thrones were already quite low after the disappointment that was season 7.
Obi-Wan Kenobi is a show that you will quickly find is almost nothing like what is advertised. In the lead-up to this show airing, we were given multiple interviews with Hayden and Ewan, and we were led to believe that this show would be heavily focused on the relationship between their two characters. Unfortunately, we get what is probably akin to maybe one whole episode at absolute most that focuses on these characters. This show could honestly be renamed to 'Leia: A Star Wars Story' and it would make a lot of sense. The plot mainly focuses on Obi-Wan trying to rescue Leia and take her home, meanwhile, the most pathetic force user we've ever seen on screen, Reva (the third sister) chases after Kenobi for Vader. We get a couple of flashbacks of Obi-Wan and Anakin from years past, and those moments are pretty good, but they're so minimal that they basically didn't even happen.
The writing in this show is downright dreadful, as is the action choreography. There are scenes in this show where child Leia is literally outrunning groups of grown men who are out to get her, and she evades them for some time by literally ducking under trees and bushes, meanwhile these pursuers act as though a branch is some magical barrier and run awkwardly around it. There's a scene in the final episode where Reva (a force user with a lightsaber) is literally bested and held off by uncle Owen and his wife. No, I am not making this up. The lightsabers in this show don't even make sense. Stormtroopers take hits from lightsabers as though they're existing in a Lego game rather than a live-action Star Wars show. Reva is stabbed through the gut by Darth Vader and left for dead at one point, only to be standing and walking around Tatooine at the start of the next episode (a couple of hours later) with zero explanation given as to how this could be possible.
I really wanted to love this show. I was so hyped for it. But I cannot lie - this is by far the WORST Star Wars series to date. And while it might be better than The Rise of Skywalker, I'd say it's worse than every other Star Wars movie.
I almost never stop watching a series midway but this is just too painful to continue. It's everything wrong with Hollywood in our times.
To be fair I think the premise is pretty good and Alan Tudyk is a talented actor. He's doing his "schtick" admirably and delivers the alien humor well. It's the absolute 4th wave feminism that is intolerable. But the preaching of the new woke religion is too much.
It was evident from midway thru last season that this is where it was going but after S2E3 the writers turned it into talking points from a women's study syllabus and it's so forced. Women's pay gap? check Women being objectified? check Mansplaining? Check. Bright pink hair? Check. Unattractive fat women? Check and check and check. Stupid, spineless, buffoonish men? Oh yea. It's so bad they even have the kids joining in on the act. Can't let those little ones just be kids, we have to make sure to get em while they're young.
Don't waste your time.
Hurrah! At last a proper Star Trek series! This is everything the absolutely awful Discovery was not. Looking forward to the coming episodes!
I loved the first two seasons and was really looking forward the the 3rd. But there's just one thing that really started to annoy me, anything and everything the Robinson do gets praised by other characters. The Robinson are always right. They're the smartest people around. Even in emergency situations where time is running out, npc's take time to give a detailed compliment on how amazing that thing a Robinson has done just now is. While I'm sitting here thinking, if that dumbass just stayed put, or didn't press that button, people wouldn't be in this mess. It's like their shit is made of gold and they can do nothing wrong. It got to a point where I'm sick of hearing the name Robinson. It's a shame cause I loved this series.
Worst season of the show. It basically destroyed the entire purpose and spirit of the series by trying to inject Stargate plotlines that goes nowhere, terrible character plots and cringe dialogue, and overused drama that make every character look like a clown. Don't waste your time in this season wanting to know the ending.
quite possibly the most brainless series currently on TV. their trick is to cover the same storylines with the same core group of actors. then once that's done they do the same thing again but in a different place. its bad, it's always been bad and i imagine it always will be bad. its too dumb to be called escapism and just popular enough to avoid getting cancelled. if you like soap-operas that require you to switch your brain off then this is the show for you. you have been warned.
Season 6 and I'm still watching this crap!! Why?? I have no idea, it's stupid and pointless. 4/10
So glad this train wreck is finally done. Kinda like a bad relationship you know you need to get out of but just keep hoping it will be better. Well it never does.
This whole series had your typical conflicts and needlessly forced drama, but all in all the story arcs weren't horrible and you could sorta suspend belief.
But this final season has just been utter garbage.
Female characters suddenly turned into stereotypical lesbians butch types for no apparent reason and a few look terrible. Characters changed personality also for no apparent reasons. Lack of continuity and explanation, confusing story lines kinda went off to nowhere. Motivations are unreliable and random. I'm sure the PC police will crack down on me, but the whole "Girls Kick Ass" gets tedious. Except for Shadeheda, no man can stand against the magnificent power of the Mary Sues.
I'm so sick of agenda driven story telling. A. it's insulting to our intelligence and B. Its crap story telling.
I don't know if Hollywood is in its own echo chamber or these people really think this is good stuff. Probably a little of both, but it's a shame. The premise was good. The production value was good. The acting was good for the most part given the script. But it's unbearable to slog thru this knowing it could have been so much better.
