The least erotic film I’ve watched from Gaspar Noé but probably my favorite. It is like Amour (Haneke, 2012) with an alternative ”3D” attempt referable to what Godard did in Adieu au langage (2014) - 3D attempts to recreate a sense of space, Godard experimented on the technique of superimposing two different images instead of the traditional way which two images are identical. Noé presents the same time and space from different perspectives and use the juxtaposition to introduce a dimensional image in audience’s mind.
[AtlàntidaFF '22] Perhaps a step towards a different way of understanding cinema, but obviously a consequence of the stroke he suffered in 2020, Gaspar Noé dialogues with death, tired and frustrated old age, in the shadow of dementia, in one of his calmest but also darkest films. There are echoes of "Amour" (Michael Haneke, 2012), but also of the split screen of "Forty deuce" (Paul Morrissey, 1982), there are two performances/improvisations that recreate decrepitude without being ashamed, which ends up being the best part of the film .
This first episode gave me more chills than a horror movie  I'm really looking forward to see the next episodes!
i dont know about u guys but asa butterfield AND gillian anderson? ive never been so on-board before
UPDATE: just finished it and MAN you all need to watch this. its a mastery of crushing cliches and good writing!
Brazil has been on my list of shame for a while. i dont know why i never got to it, especially in my early 20s. now, much like Trainspotting, it saddens me how much of my life has been lived without this movie in it.
dystopian future run by bureaucracy, oppressive machinery, wwii Britain vibe, CYA at all costs, that over-the-topness that gilliam pulls off with such finesse. this is a movie only gilliam could pull off well. in the hands of most others, it would be an absurd travesty. while i loved every viewing of Naked Lunch ive had over the years, i wish this had been substituted for a few of them.
grey steampunk.
Honestly, this episode would've been better without that ending. Just straight cut to the credits. Didn't really need that gag.
great, but the kids are unbearable
this is the best season hands down
Beautifully written, perfectly acted. The layers and layers of complexity, reference to literature, philosophy, art, technology and medicine, all wrapped-up in a retro-future setting make for a delightful, loving experience about healing and hope. This is one of the best mini-series I've ever seen in a long time. It takes its time to deliver a perfect ending, that makes you wonder about everything you have seen.
A weird show that is not for everybody but I really enjoyed it. I love the world they set up with all the little gadgets and advertising. The performances from Emma Stone and Jonah Hill were both fantastic. I like how they were able to do really different stories throughout the season to mix things up. There were a lot of funny parts too.
So much build-up throughout the 10 episodes with so little pay off.
I'm not completely sure the writers of this show knew where they wanted this first season to go. I completely understand the appeal of ambiguous endings but this felt like an injustice to the people who watched all 10 episodes.
I have more questions after the finale that I did before I had watched it and reading theories online has just added more confusion to what I have just watched.
I'd have a lot less issues if the show wasn't an anthology and I knew that more about The Kid and Henry would be explained next season.
Overall, i really enjoyed the show. The journey and the mystery was captivating and kept me wanting more, I just feel like the destination was a let down. Definitely a show worth watching if you like mystery though, even with the loose ends.
not even half an hour of this episode and i was screaming in my bedroom GIVE AMY ADAMS AN EMMY ALREADY
Finished watching the show, characters are very well developed and you feel for them. Definitely a must watch, 10/10.
Loved it; Hard to follow, but it's the kind of movie that draws you in.
Worst season to date. Very uninspired and cliche.
I like this anime. Everything in it is believable and will probably happen.
Space trash is gonna be a big problem that in all likelihood will be dealt with in the exact same manner as they do it in this anime. If no one does anything about it will probably clutter space around earth making space travel impossible.
The only small problem i have is the date. It seems unlikely that there will be huge space stations and moon bases in witch thousands of people will work and live in the year 2075. It will probably be longer than that seeing that it has been 39 years since the last moon landing and we haven't been back since.
Absolutely disappointing rehash of the first trilogy. Disney had a real opportunity to do something new and exciting with this ipr but resorted to rushed writing with an extremely compressed story that makes no sense and fails to make anyone care for the characters or events. Emo Kylo is an outstanding metaphor for the whole deal.
The acting is impeccable and the cinematography and directing is truly memorising. However it all feels wasted on such a long, overdrawn and predictable story line. I found myself waiting for it all to end, which it does eventually, just how you thought it would.
This movie takes no hostages... The driving was absolutely top notch, the special effects were beyond good and although the action was relentless, it never once felt fatigued or over done. This movie delivers on all its promises. If you want a pure action flick that wastes no time, Mad Max Fury Road is it!
