Consider me disappointed given that this is the second time they adapted the story. I was expecting it to be written well (why else would they bother) but that was not the case. The writing and story are what's holding the show back.
The villain is shit and so is the conclusion to his arc. There is a general problem with the characters and their respective motivations and there is too much (repeated) exposition and odd points in the story. You will also not get an ending as it's just a part of the manga adapted leaving you with more questions and unresolved storylines.
Now what they have been doing well is... giving you creative pantyshots (even though you don't necessarily want them) and sometimes good, creatively directed action sequences with nice sound-design. This is however not frequent enough to leave you satisfied.

My bad for expecting something from this. Cliché zombie movie without much tension where a "Social Media" site was the cause. It has a couple lines for the not so subtle and obvious social commentary to warrant it. If it was at least a little bit original... It's also rather silly that somebody would apply creepy lightning and horror movie color grading to their VLOGs. The manga "I Am a Hero" had better use of social media during an outbreak without even wanting to tap into this aspect of daily life.

So, the first season is actually just part one... great. I would have prefered this ending to another season to be honest - Not everything has to be resolved.
Imho it kind of derailed with the last episode. Not only the forced drama with his wife but also how he let himself get baited like that.
Without the second half in sight there is not really a point in actually watching this right now if you havn't already.

If Norway had Adult Swim this show would probably have aired there. Produced by the Dead Snow/Hansel & Gretel guy you can guess where it dabbles in. I would have wished for a stronger Twin Peaks vibe but it looks like if anything that would be in S2 (if that ever happens).

This show is way better than you would expect from a promotion tool for someone's 3D avatar. Except for one episode the gags are fun and Miss Monochrome has to go through quite some suffering but get's a wonderful christmas miracle in the end.

That wasn't very interesting and kinda messy for just an hour. They should have actually developed something between the two instead of relying on a gimmick and wasting time with that (and the dumb storyline involving Ryuu).
Animation wise it's OK but the music wasn't really great and utilized awkwardly imho.

It's true that the source are Demons (with a source host) but they act and transfer it like the cliché. Zombies are just dead bodies that still move so it does not have to be a disease :)!

You added the remake of http://trakt.tv/movie/night-of-the-living-dead-1968 btw.

I think you got the wrong Braindead onto the list http://trakt.tv/movie/dead-alive-1992 :)!

Weren't the monsters in I Am Legend vampies?

Some I enjoyed that are missing:
Night of the Living Dead
The Beyond
Pontypool
Fido
Re-Animator
REC
Rammbock
Stacy
Cemetery Man
The Battery
Boy Eats Girl
Black Sheep
Doghouse
Dead & Breakfast
Dance of the Dead

You might want to consider putting TWD on the list too.

Despite my initial low expectations for the show it turned out to be my favorite of the 1-cours this season. It's just really comfy to watch. There is hardly any drama in the show and the cast including the various spirits were great. Too bad nobody is translating the manga because I would totally continue. If you're going to give it a try I recommend watching past the first two episodes because they weren't the best.

That wasn't too bad for a no budget film. I felt like turning it off in the beginning and at times it was really quite bad but they were going for a pseudo grindhouse style anyways. Not something you have to seek out though.

Sound of the Sky (aka So-Ra-No-Wo-To) is set in a future where neighbouring countries are at war and humanity has lost technical advances due to previous conflict. There we follow a little girl called Kanata who joins the army in order to learn to play her bugle. Obviously the platoon she joins is all-girls... You figure where it goes :)!
As apparent by the similar character designs to K-ON the show is mainly slice of life without much threat from the military conflict. Most of the episodes deal with each of the girls past demons but the on-going war comes knocking at their door towards the end. While the conclusion is rather predictable, it's done quite well. I guess what makes the show work so well besides the fact that you can't hate these girls in their oversized uniforms is the setting and the pretty background art. If I found something weird than it's the fact that the key song in the show is a rendition of "Amazing Grace".

As someone who actually stuck with the show I can confirm aswell that this is what you call a train-wreck.
While from the production side of view it's alright... the plot is simply horrendous (and so are most of the characters). Keep in mind the show has only elven episodes but even with that it doesn't manage to tell a straight story and frankly has at least three episodes I would call mostly boring filler. It isn't just the occasional plot-hole but it had me constantly scratching my head or my face greeting the palms of my hands. The pacing was awful and no one was acting remotely realistic. What's even worse is that the last episode is the worst of the bunch.

They didn't really play of too well of the bully theme but it was an interesting watch regardless and better than the turd The Final is. The ending was kinda bad though.. after all that planing beginning it like that and then just going after Owen -.-? Another gripe was the found footage style: Who the fuck was behind the camera? We have multiple angles (or often weird ones) in some scenes and filming in scenes where it didn't make sense for their movie (even when editing). One possibility is that at some point he was going nuts and no one was actually filming because even Owen doesn't aknowledge the camera but then again, his name gets mentioned, he grabs popcorn and Matt talks to him (The Office style)? The film also opens with a disclaimer that no footage was altered? I figure they just didn't care at one point...

What on paper sounds just plain terrible turned out to be a fun little LN adaptation. It wears it's intentions on the sleeve and has it's fun with all the possible tropes and references in the medium. I can't say that I was always eager to watch the next episode but I had my fun with them. Unfortunatley the last two episode were a bit overly dramatic for nothing really which was a bit of a bummer. If you're looking for a comedy that is celebrating "Otaku" culture this one fits the bill.

The Great Beauty

I was reluctant to see this movie because on paper it looks like an arthouse chore. Luckily it isn't at all.
We follow the cynic and self-proclaimed "it-man" of the high-class nightlife in Rome; Jep, through his episodic encounters in the city. Because of the death of his one true love (who married someone else) he starts to reflect on his life and what the Great Beauty in it is (or was).
The movie showcases beautiful cinematography, editing and score and has a diverse set of actors. There is also plenty of often subtle humor to be found in the scenes and dialogue making it everything but dry.

I met a guy once who told me about a place that contained the seven gates that lead to hell. I thought that it was the most beautiful thing I’d ever heard.
Yeah, that is one of the first lines... If anything take it as a moody drug prevention movie. Pretty much goes nowhere and the horror is just to get a wider audience. I didn't exactly dislike it but I can't say it's good either (there is only so much you can do with a scriptless movie and actors doing drugs on screen). The saddest thing is that the lead actress died of an overdose sometime after it's premiere...

What a disappointing movie. From what I've seen and heard I thought it would be fun. Instead it's boring and shallow. And that accent, damn that was more funny than anything? Anyways, I think I only needed to see ten minutes of this. It dissolves into quite a mess. Maybe he should have made a documentary or a report on porn addiction? It ended up being preachy as fuck with the dialogue and "story" just being there to talk about it. I also don't think the "addiction" portrayed is actually how this whole thing goes but I wasted enough words already. With different actors the whole thing would be rated a lot lower.

Very much like Shiraishi's previous found footage outings. If you liked Shirome or Occult you won't be disappointed either. The film making itself is once again nothing that shines and idols are acting but what saves this one are the more fantasy themed events (which even allow for a sequel). It also never gets boring. Too bad the titles gives so much away. I also recommend to not watch the trailer and setting your expectations to bad CGI ;).

A simple, slightly erotic, arthousey science fiction romance. Although a bit cliché, the presentation held me entertained throughout. They should however have made one simple change, namely Lucas not being a scientist. It would have been a lot more believable this way.

Here is the thing: I saw Certified Copy before these films. I also did not know it was a trilogy until after I watched Before Sunrise (and that doesn't flow too well) and just last week I watched the first one and quite enjoyed it... I'm honestly shocked by how well received this one was.
The first half is quite allright but it didn't flow well initially. At the hotel however it kinda (forgive the unromantic word) shits over the first two films. They managed to convert Céline into a complete psycho and undermine everything she stood for. They were living together for almost ten years now and can get into such a petty fight? It goes as far as the oh-so-realistic-true-love-couple is OK with cheating on their soulmate (because we're so liberal)? She just rants about everything and storms out and returns to the hotel room thrice? After coming to the conclusion that you're not in love anymore what better way to fix thing is there than to go and have sex...
I was also quite annoyed by the general edgyness they have shown us and honestly; the dialogue has always been written a bit too sharp but it doesn't work for a married couple anymore. Especially when they talk that much, those topics and still revealing so much new about each other.

Ayakashi: Samurai Horror Tales

The show is a collection of three short stories. Unfortunatley they're not very good except for the last one and are plagued by a low budget.

#1 Yotsuya Kaidan: The first one is a retelling of a classic kabuki play through the eyes of the author. It's a bit slow for my taste but adds some live action towards the end to etablish the curse around it.

#2 Tenshu Monogatari: This one is not really horror but a fantastical love story of a human falling in love with a god. It suffers even more from the low budget than #1 but has the better story.

#3 Bake Neko: The predecessor for the show "Mononoke". It's about a cat that turned into a Mononoke and haunts a certain Clan on a wedding day. It's miles above the previous two and told in a wonderful ricepaper artstyle.

Since you have to get through some supbar outputs for the good one I can't praise this as a whole.

This show can be quite fun if you're not expecting much. It plays out the same jokes on the character's tropes in every episode again but that gets mixed up with the insane multiple choice questions our MC gets from God. I could have done without the sometimes excessive fanservice though. The ending is also rather meh but hey, ten episodes are not much to work with.

@ManiacB You should defnitly watch it then! With these kind of movies you just have to start them and they'll get you in the right mood regardless. There have been people who were put off by the boys actions but it's not like these were not taken out of real life.

I must admit that it's a bit pointless since all of those are well known for being good but if one more person goes out to watch something it is worth it.

I won't rate it as low as others here have but it's not strong on the sense side and cements that it indeed jumped the shark when the jocks join the party. Suprisingly nobody complained about their lines because they mostly consist of character names or "man". Maybe that was because of the editing, who knows. I'm really disappointed that many sites gave this one favorable reviews because there isn't really much here.
I got the feeling that Xavier Gens saw this and took parts of it into The Divide because it truely felt like the shit parts of that movie.

Very flawed to say the least. I really hated the uninspired ending to the whole affair. Doesn't help that while being a worse movie, the recent Thanatomorphose does the decomposition a lot better. It just wasn't really interesting because we know what is going on long before her and the framework this operates in is rather generic. There was the one idea and the rest was just added to reach the runtime. Maybe Barrett should have given them some pointers when he was on set.

I made it about 30 minutes in realising that there was another hour left (and I felt like I already heard all I needed to). You probably only want to watch it if you are truely interested in hearing about some viral alternate reality game (or LARPing for hipsters) that took place in SF created by Jeff Hull else just go and read a news story about it. There is only so much of value you could say and show about it. Doesn't help that it comes off so fabricated (this movie is just another part of the advertisement).
