SPOILERS ahead for non-book readers:
Regarding Ceylin and Ilgaz
Erik
It is good that he finally agreed to get the help he needed, I would say though Nico insisting to take over while he was cooking wasn’t the best idea
Chloe
She is the embodiment of “Hurt people hurt people”. It is sad seeing her now fall prey to Raul’s advances, but I have a feeling Sonia will be the one to help her out in the end
Sara
I think she is very focused on leaving Raul that she does not care who she hurt in the process. Seeing the breakup scene, it seems that none of it was really necessary. She could have just broken up with him, rough him up a little, and call it a day. I must say it does not help that the actress has the same bored expression on her face all the time! She is barely giving us anything!
Ivan
This guy needs to leave everything behind and go start fresh somewhere far away. That exchange program is not a bad idea after all. I wonder though what is the writers’ plan after that incestuous make out session which was totally unnecessary!
Omar
He needs serious help! That is it! Stop interacting with this school and these people and get help!! I also still do not understand how he was given that job to handle the app at school, based on what qualifications? And not only that, he also recruited Sonia to help out..
Didac/Isadora
The back and forth needs to stop at some point. I don’t even remember what is the main conflict between the two families and Didac authorizing the recordings will come back to bite him in the ass because it will definitely bring down more than just Isadora’s dad
Favorites scenes:
- Their exchange right after Se-ri wakes up and calls him to her room
- The scars scene in the hospital
- RJH stuffing her cabinet with groceries then crunching down to her height and moving everything down a shelf so she can easily reach!:heart::heart:
“I had a brother.
After losing him, I had a hard time.
So I made a decision.
I told myself I would live a life where I don’t have to lose anyone.
I told myself I wouldn’t live a fun life.
I told myself I would live a life where I don’t dream of the future.
Ever since then,
I’ve never had a comfortable sleep,
I’ve never made jokes,
I’ve never played the piano,
and I’ve never loved anyone.
Until you crash landed into my world one day.
That’s how I have lived.
But now, I have changed.
Even if I have to worry about losing you every day,
I want to have you in my life.
Even if it breaks my heart because it’s a dream that can’t come true,
I’d like to sincerely dream of the future.
So please live.
Please live and listen to my words.
I still have stories that I haven’t told you yet.”
Another favorite episode
The whole scene of RJH being in Se-ri’s house for the first time was perfection! The way he teased her about her fridge being empty and how she was never picky about eating in NK to offering her to taste the food first as a nod to their first meal.. Also the different hugs, his reaction to her brother’s threats, everything was just beautifully done
- “Then keep only people you like in your heart. Only then can you eat well and sleep well.”
- “Even if that person isn’t by my side?”
- “Yes.”
The below scene is one of my favorites and most rewatched scenes of the show.. His smile at the end
- “Do I not know much about your taste?”
- “What do you mean?”
- “Your employees seem to know it well. They even know how you like your eggs done.”
- “That’s not important. No others know my taste better than you.”
- “What’s your taste?”
- “You”
Also a favorite scene is RJH enjoying all the comments on the YouTube video :joy:
Seung-joon getting all flustered about Dan was adorable!
The relief on RJH's face when he finally find Se-ri's in the parking lot
“Are we all thinking the same thing now? He’s fuming mad, but that only makes him even more attractive”
“On my way back home, I couldn’t even breathe. I was worried I might have put her in trouble. If something happens to her, I’ll be living in hell until the day I die”
“Oh, it’s you.” - “Who were you expecting?”
“Even when you didn’t know it, you saved my life.”
- “You can date men and hang out with other people as if nothing had happened. But don’t be lonely again. Don’t ever think about disappearing at a scenic place. You have me.”
- “You won’t be by my side”
- “I won’t be by your side, but I will always hope that you won’t be lonely. Be happy until the end of your life. I would be grateful if you’d do that.”
“How could I forget about a woman who fell from the sky?”
Yekta’s redemption arc was totally unexpected. I really had thought he was the other person who would end up dead in the preview.
Now back to the whole Ilgaz being dead or not fiasco:
What is bothering me in this episode is Eren’s demeanor. He was too quick to be convinced that Ceylin did it. No words were exchanged, he didn’t question her motive. And on top of it all, she didn’t even wonder why he was so pissed for Eyüp’s sake when he was taking her to interrogation!
I don’t think Ilgaz’s death is a fakeout. Because assuming he regained consciousness in the ambulance and devised a plan with Eren, this is too risky. They don’t know how everyone else will receive the news. What if Ceylin did something to herself? What if Metin died upon receiving the news? I think they should have let Metin in on the plan if that were the case!
Honestly, I want his death to be real, but either way I feel the plot is not tight enough to pull this off!
I wish I hadn’t known about the ongoing theory of the twist at the end because now I don’t know if I would have picked it up at some point before the reveal. Anyway, earlier in the 2nd episode, there was a moment at dinner where Rhys asks Joe a question to which Joe responds, then Adam turns around and asks him “what was that?” - I thought that scene was very weird but didn’t read too much into it and then I saw a comment on Reddit where someone had this theory that while Rhys was an actual character, his interactions with Joe were a figment of Joe’s imagination and so in that specific scene there was no one actually present next to Joe which explains Adam’s question. So ever since, I have been watching the show while having this theory in the back of my mind, and episode 6 was the one that really solidified it for me.
I don’t know how I feel about this twist. On one hand, this fits Joe’s character and justifies the shift we saw in his personality this season. In earlier ones, we always saw Joe justifying his actions and being appalled at other people who were exactly the same as him, but now he seems to really want to start over and be a “good guy”, so it kind of makes sense for him to be so delusional that he projects all his evil thoughts and actions onto another persona, which is Rhys in this case, and makes him the bad guy so that Joe remains a hero and doesn’t have to face his own actions. Actions that are so deranged this time that it is hard for him to justify them. But on the other hand, I think it takes a lot to pull off this type of twist and it all depends on the way it is handled in the coming episodes.
Now let’s talk about Nadia and her uncovering all the secrets.
It was not Ceylin’s place to reveal Derya’s pregnancy!! She had not right to do that! I really thought this season will redeem Ceylin in my eyes but no, I hate her character more with each passing episode. I was also disappointed with Ilgaz saying that she was right! If she were a better friend, she would have gotten Derya some help to overcome her trauma and make a decision with a clear mind. Pars should also have been more understanding! The poor woman has been through a traumatic event, and the recent explosion triggered her and she is reliving the same emotions as before, it is very understandable that she would be afraid. Encouraging her to talk this out with a therapist would have been the better move by Ceylin and Pars. I really dislike this whole baby plot that they introduced and how it is being handled.
Aylin’s conversation with Osman was so on point! I really feel bad for Aylin and everything she went through. Even if we think she was very naive to believe Çetin, she was actually grasping at straws finally happy to have found someone who saw here worthy of love.
Metin Baba :broken_heart:
And now let’s talk about Ceylin and Ilgaz and this doomed relationship:
It baffles me that Ceylin was so surprised by Ilgaz’s actions! This is who he is from day 1. When his brother was accused of murder, he did not hesitate for a moment before turning him in, he always applies the law first and then searches for ways to prove the innocence of the accused, if applicable.
Ceylin’s monologue to Derya about being a lawyer and how she operates made 0 sense in this situation. You are a lawyer, how you operate is not applicable to the job of a prosecutor. You can bend the law and lie your way out to prove the innocence of your client (or even to “fabricate” an innocence), but the prosecutor has to work with facts within the bounds of law, nothing more nothing less.
Ceylin is mad how Ilgaz is ready to throw her niece under the bus but the guy did the same when it was his brother in question. Why would you be surprised now? It is just as Ilgaz said, his speech to her was 100% accurate, she wants to push him to the point where he would leave her so that that burden is moved from her shoulders. But no, she was the one who gave up on him. Everyone acts as if Ilgaz is too self-righteous but forgets that he gives Ceylin so much leeway, sometimes even against his better judgement, but of course he will draw the line at a murder case! Like WTF would you expect him to do.
Ceylin’s family is so toxic since the beginning with everything they put her through, she should have chosen her husband this time. If not the first time when her sister threatened with suicide , at least the moment Ilgaz told her about the video. She should have stayed true to her word and gave Parla in, telling her family that now since Ilgaz knows, there is nothing further she can do and then she would have done the same thing she did to prove her innocence! Why go through the whole escape plan and ruin everything??!?!
I will say it again: Love is not enough for Ceylin and Ilgaz. There is no trust to build a relationship on, she has no respect for his job which she has shown over and over again, and they have fundamental differences in their approaches towards everything in life!
What I Liked:
What I Disliked:
What Ilgaz did at the beginning of this episode, and his way of convincing Pars of the difference between his intention and his actions was beautiful! He proved to be a true friend just as Eren said. But at the same time, I wished they didn’t put all the blame on Pars regarding Ceylin's kidnapping. Ok, he messed up with that media conference he held, but the killer was interested in Ceylin even before that happened. And let’s face it, we are talking about Ceylin here, one way or another, she would have gotten herself kidnapped without any interference from anyone.
Suspicions still follow a lot of characters:
Can Gul leave the Kaya family alone?!
I understand she holds them responsible for the death of her husband although Çınar merely acted in self defense and didn’t actually kill Zafer but Metin made a huge mistake with the cover up. BUT apparently she was able to make amends with Laçin, the mother of the person who killed her daughter and kidnapped the other one, and on top of that, Laçin was willing to help her son escape it all!
The ad placement for the Air Fryer was very weird. Derya made a harsh comment to Pars about his role in pushing the unsub to kidnap again and she left. Then suddenly she is calling him back asking about him and talking about healthy food!! While everyone is going crazy about the case!!
And now to that ending!! The reporter was one of the suspicious new characters but I didn't really think he would be behind it! Now it seems, he entered the room playing the role of a victim?! What is his plan? And who is helping him? I am sure this is not one person's work.
All the new characters’ paths have crossed at some point with Neva. What is a coincidence? And what was planned?
Mehmet Yılmaz Ak broke my heart in his portrayal of Pars’ grief. What an incredible performance, I was crying the entire episode!
Ceylin is still the same old Ceylin. I really thought it was gonna take more than 1 episode for her to get on my nerves, but apparently not. Although I really appreciated her in the scene in Pars’ office. For a second there, I though she was coming back to fight him, but she proved me wrong, and it really speaks to the layers of her character as she is probably the best person to understands his situation.
Some other tidbits:
So we’re starting with a time jump, and checking in with the different characters:
Dario: I am so confused about his story. Was he declared a missing person? Were the authorities still looking for him at the end of Season 1? Because he doesn’t seem to be hiding or changing his name or whatever… Who was that person who called him and sent him the video? What is the significance of that video? And on top of all that, he is now getting married but he is obviously not over Alma since he sent her his wedding invite!
Alma: She is currently living on her own and going into some sort of group therapy. She is definitely not over Dario even with everything that happened, she is still fantasizing about him. I am confused about the instagram page she visited, was it an old account of Dario? Did she just go into it to see his face again? Or are these new images? And how did she connect that to the letter received? She immediately went and checked it right after?!
Leonardo: He is obviously living his life and is no longer with Alma, so why did he signal for the woman who was with him to keep quiet? Will he try to get back to Alma?
Esteban: We see him coming out of jail although I am not sure why he turned himself in? It seems it was a plan between him and Dario because he mentions something about Dario’s lawyers screwing him up? So maybe they agreed that he would turn himself in but the lawyers were supposed to get him out directly?
Zoe: Why is she still friendly with Esteban after everything that happened? Is it just because she wants to keep a close eye on him?
Lys: A new character introduced. From the whole Eros and Psych story, she probably had a previous affair with Dario and things got bad in the end. I am thinking this was an old timeline, before the whole Alma story.
I feel so bad for Defne… Why didn’t Merdan or Metin ask Makboule to take her downstairs when Ceylin’s family came over??
Ceylin has no right to treat Pars and Eren this way, and especially Pars (since she is closer to Eren). Both are doing their best to avoid getting her upset and are giving her special treatment but enough is enough! I was glad when Pars put her in her place at the crime scene!
And now to Ceylin and Ilgaz… Honestly Ceylin’s character started to annoy me 10 episodes or more ago but she reached the peak in this episode. She has clearly not forgiven Ilgaz and is holding him responsible for his family’s actions then why would she tell him to choose between them and ask him to move in? What kind of life is this when she will be making his life a living hell and anything he does will be wrong in her eyes? The man is willing to put up with everything, choosing her over his family, doing his best to save the relationship, and be there for her! In my opinion, they should have taken some time apart, this moving in together at this time is not healthy for both. Ilgaz did the right thing at the end by leaving.
So 40 minutes just so that Ceylin can say that last sentence to Ilgaz? I know they somewhat linked that first case to Judge Kemal’s death but I feel the emphasis of that flashback was that last sentence which could have worked as great foreshadowing if we had actually seen it in the first episode of the show! I mean, Umut and Ceylin are friends on a first name basis? Since when? Ceylin and Pars knew one another? What? Even Ceylin and Ilgaz’s first meeting! I really feel like going back and rewatching the first episode because I feel these acquaintances came out of the blue!
I want to empathize with Ceylin and what she is going through. It is a terrible situation to be in, she has the right to feel betrayed and angry but her character is so tiring. I want to tell her I understand your pain but at the same time I want to tell her that these people are giving you a privilege by allowing you to be this involved and hearing the testimonies so when she started banging on the glass, I was so frustrated with her! But I must give her credit, the Ceylin we knew before would have yelled and kicked around, but currently we see her being more in control of her reactions, which can be attributed either to the fact that this is Ilgaz’s family or maybe she is just too tired to fight…
I don’t agree with her decision to make Ilgaz choose between her and his family. My mind keeps going to Defne, that little girl needs her brother around, and he has a bigger responsibility towards her.
I was so shocked by that final scene! What did Ceylin do? Did she stab someone? Yekta maybe? Did she steal the knife from a crime scene to save someone else and implicate herself? Because Eren is right on her tail!
P.S. I know there is a big case happening at the moment, but are we really going to forget about those kids and the money laundering?
And now to Ceylin. First, I am aware that Ceylin is currently not in the right mindset, and still hasn’t processed her trauma, but:
I hate when characters do stupid things just to move the plot along, it just seems like lazy writing, case in point:
Now to Ilgaz deducing the events behind the crime:
And one last thing, I am all for Ilgaz and Ceylin having a baby but the timing couldn’t be any more wrong. The reason for Ceylin to have the baby is a selfish one. People shouldn’t bring babies into the world for them to be able to cope with life, kids are not a way for you to feel better about your life. Deciding to be a parent should be a conscious decision taken when you are in a healthy mindset and not in a middle of overcoming a traumatic event!
The Erguvan family scenes were absolutely phenomenal. From Gül’s reaction to Zafer’s death, to Ceylin thinking her mother was dead, everyone’s acting was on point. I also loved the way the camera panned out during that first scene after Ceylin breaks down the news of her father’s death.
Metin is drowning more and more with each action. I was surprised by his plan because I had totally forgotten about Yafuz. Although back in episode 8 I had commented that “Metin finding out about his previous boss’s kidnapping as the hands of Zafer is interesting… This might come in handy” and it actually did! Now I am not sure how I feel about all this. On one hand, sometimes I empathize with Metin and him wanting to save his family and how hard it is for him to go against his principles, that scene when he breaks down in the bathroom was very realistic. But on the other hand, although I understand his motives, nothing is right about this plan. From the start, I thought he made a mistake with covering up the crime, but now planting and stealing evidence seems like going too far, but then again he already went down this road so might as well do things “properly”. Although this is soon gonna bite him in the ass with Eren picking up on the small details. I can’t imagine what will happen once everything is out in the open!
Pars taking Eren shopping and Eren wanting to look his best for his daughter was so endearing!
