I have a lot of criticisms but none of them can be worse than the fact that Kitty lived in Korea for a semester and yet still didn't know Korean by the end. They barely touched upon Korean culture; it felt like they just said stuff about Kitty's mum rather than show us stuff; the writing was sloppy; it was so cliche; the characters acted weirdly like why burn the picture of your friend if nothing happened between you . Overall it was a fun watch, but only because I went in with zero expectations
I really loved this.
I loved the 1969 animation style (also used in Guess who Scooby Doo). But even though the animation was based on the old style, it was smoother and looked better due to the colouring.
I loved Velma finally being blatantly a lesbian. While I know many producers tried to have her gay, they weren't allowed to make it so blatant and at least leave room for the friendship interpretation. Still, this movie finally allowed Velma to be interested in a woman with the same oomph that straight relationships had. I also love how Daphne's supportive ex-girlfriend vibes.
I love the storyline, I think it's a little different from the usual catching masked villains to find a moral, but I really did think it was interesting. It kind of pushes the franchise forward.
I wish that it could continue, but i can't change disney's mind. Dana and her team have put everything into this show, and this special has this real care for detail. There are pride flags everywhere, and almost everything has some queer flourish to it, so suck on that Disney. I love Dana and her team i wish it was possible for her to continue making more owl house content.
Literal millitary propaganda - don’t watch this it’s so bad and only trending cause it has booktok tropes. The story is literally a white conservative man and a poc liberal women fall in love and she ends up being conservative at the end despite his racism towards her family
I’m sorry i still can’t get over the fact that they referenced DC and Batman
Remember to pirate
It is the very definition of performative activism.
They made the headmaster black but whitewashed Clawdeen (and made her orange)
They made Frankie neurodivergent but took away non-verbal autistic Ghoulia
They made Lagoona Latine instead of First Nation (Australia) [this was messed up, cause now the groups are going to fight each other)
They used a white woman for Cleo and painted her darker.
Sure they added (like making Draculaura Filipino) and fixed (like making Abbie desi), but they also took so much (including Clawdeen being a canonical lesbian), and they messed up the Non-binary rep they "added" with Frankie.
Also, the plot was bad, and contradicted the original Monster High, and the costume design was terrible and tacky (like Deuce where is the punk and Heath - it's giving 2 dollar wig, Frankie where is your prep look, Clawdeen what's up with the jacket, Cleo where are the bandages, Lagoona you look like slime, Hyde why aren't you blue).
The witchcraft being "human" was very annoying - especially because there were witches in the original show (and they were famous)
The Holt-hyde plot was bad
Oh and the Deuce x Clawdeen subplot i skipped because imagine destroying Cleo and Deuce's amazing relationship so he can end up with a lesbian.
I know the first thing you see is the bad rating. But i ask you to trust me when i say this is a good movie - actually a great movie. And the actors are amazing, like Rajit Kappor made me want to become violent because of how annoying they were, and i don't care what you say, being able to make people want to kill your character is a skill. I'm gonna be honest the minute i heard the whitewashed Hindi (being compared to the normal Hindi) i knew this would have a lot of detail, and it did.
I think the only real problem is that they focused on the coming out a lot, but barely explained the backstory like the kiss behind a wall (with a little peek window) was not enough, i needed to know more about Pallevi's younger days
It's such a sweet show. I really don't know how people can hate it cause it's so adorable. I was watching this with my little siblings and they were hooked. I just wish that there was more of it.
Omg this movie literally made me not regret watching it before so i could analyse it for school. The symbolism, characters, cinematography. the Shirtless scene!!! This man knows the female gaze. This man knows how to direct action .
Gay men after writing the most gorey film about internalised homophobia and capitalist's yuppie/consumerist culture: I have to return some video tapes
Ever notice how men are the only ones commenting that it’s bad? Cause they don’t get it - they think it’s got too many themes too many mixed up ideas, too many Paradoxes. But that’s what this movie is about. This movie is about growing up as a woman, cis and trans, and how paradoxical it is. This is about how women and men alike are forced to fit into these images and when they don’t they’re hurt. Yes there were problems with the films (some jokes didn’t land, the Mattel criticism seemed unfinished, etc) but the idea that the film was “bad” and something you shouldn’t want because it “hated men” (or you know told men to not base their worth on a woman’s validation - but whatever right) is a crazy idea
Ship after Ship after ship
I literally finished in 2 days
it’s 24 episodes and each are an hour long. I basically binged it.
Only real problem for me is that i’m not a fan of beach episodes so there was one episode which took longer to get through, but even then it was way faster than what it usually takes me cause it was written well
Bring tissues - especially if you're a First-gen kid with mummy issues. It's funny, but it's also just emotional trauma.
