@charlie-r That's the short film on which this movie is based.

VIPOG12First of all, its a pretty cool feeling knowing that you helped produce this film on indiegogo (or kickstarter, whichever one it was). I was impressed by how well made it was. It felt like a big budget movie.
Second, the story was great. A few things happened that I didn't expect to.
The only thing that I didn't like was the ending... It needed 5 more minutes to explain what the hell just happened. Connor said he's going to make things right. But nothing happened. He visits his mom's grave. Then what? He's back where he started, minus having a mom?
Did Garrett essentially replace Marcus with that deal?
Did Park not end up having powers? I definitely thought he was going to have powers.
So Nia got to visit her dad in prison. That's not really a happy ending for her, is it?
Maybe I missed something while I was watching...

@rlevitz Didn't know it was an indiegogo film. The production quality is superb, it looked very top-of-the line. I'm impressed!
Did Garrett essentially replace Marcus with that deal?
I don't think that's really relevant to the story being told. He got out of his money-debt issues, and was also free, rather than to work under the other Marcus. He was essentially free, and that's really the big point here.
Did Park not end up having powers? I definitely thought he was going to have powers.
No. They never painted him to be. Quite the contrary, he was more humane because he could see his pairs discriminating, and could empathize with those with power since his daughter was one of them.
So Nia got to visit her dad in prison. That's not really a happy ending for her, is it?
She starts the movie a slave to a monster. The fact that she was free to visit a beloved one by herself reflects her newfound freedom. Considering where she started, that is a happy ending.
I’m surprised at the low ratings for this film, I thought it was excellent.
It’s a simple tale, told well.
Lots of action from start to finish, great acting and production etc.
It’s a 90 minute film, but it seemed to be over very quickly; which shows how involved I was in the story.
It’s different, not predictable and I loved the simplicity of the story.
Great film!

Agreed! I thought it was great! Simple, yes, but I thought it was a great story with strong characters.

VIP5I thought it was pretty neat. It's not Endgame, but it's not trying to be. It's a pretty small, kinda old-school self-contained superhero movie that doesn't do much to heavily worldbuild. It doesn't even have a post-credits scene with Sam L Jackson. But I thought it was pretty neat for what it is.
loading replies
@jds-shkolnikfamily-com …I know. It was just a way to say "this is not like the Avengers or even Iron Man, it didn't create a shared universe". It didn't have a post-scredits scene with anyone at all. It's not like all MCU films have Jackson in their post credits scene, either.
Not everything is to be read literally.
While still funny and immensely entertaining, I confess I was a little disappointed with Deadpool. With this character, they had an opportunity to make a completely ridiculous and nonsensical superhero movie, and what we got as another generic plot following the tired origin story / damsel-in-distress formula, with a bit of crude humor and 4th-wall breaking mixed in. I almost wonder if that was the cost for finally getting this movie made.
loading replies
@xaliber I don't get why people see origin story and automatically think its boring. If you didn't have the origin story nobody would know why the hell he is doing the things he is doing. There would be no context for anything. It's only boring because you label it as boring before even watching it. Next time go into the film with an open mind and stop comparing it to other films.
And If you didn't like the origin story then explain why you didn't like it. Don't just say "oh its an origin story so therefore it is boring".

The first one sucked. Why this one exists is beyond me. Start making movies ppl want to see. Voltron, More Superman, Batman, an actual GOOD joker movie.
The dudes who give the green light to movies in Hollywood need to all be fired. They don’t know what the fuck they are doing.
Less of this shit. Again, this movie is shit.
Margot Robbie is a shit actress. Yes she is pretty. But I’m tired of watching what she calls acting. Joel kinnaman is just as bad on the male front. His over acting ass needs to be stopped.
John Cena is the worst thing to ever happen to movies. Like the rock, but with absolutely no acting ability. An ape with muscles.
at least will smith isn’t in this one

Margot Robbie's acting is pretty phenomenal, though. I don't know what planet you're living on; she inhabits her roles.
On the surface this film is about a group of people who have been labelled “villains”, working together to save the world. But really, this film is about one man and one man alone, he isn’t strong, but yet he defies all odds and sacrifices his life to save his friends. His only power is his bravery, he is the driver of the van and the main character of this film, Milton.

If you ever needed a lesson in not listening to reviewers and making your own mind up about a movie, this is it. The Suicide Squad is brought to life by David Ayer in this summer blockbuster. It is 2+ hours of hard hitting FUN, with incredible portrayals of comic book favourites. Will Smith IS Deadshot, Margot Robbie IS Harley Quinn, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje IS Killer Croc, Jai Courtney IS Captain Boomerang... and The Joker??? I WANTED MORE!!! Well the biggest compliment I can pay to Jared Leto is that I didn't think about Heath Ledger once, it was a completely different yet interesting portrayal.
In this fun action flick, the bad guys are sent to take down a greater evil. Critics of the big bad in this movie seem to have completely missed the point. The big bad in this movie is merely a plot device, to help us get to see our protagonists form as a team. If anything the real villain of the piece is the one who forms this team of misfits. Amanda Waller is portrayed DIABOLICALLY by the incredible Viola Davis and the part where she turns on and guns down her own employees is SHOCKING . Complaining about the villain in a movie where the protagonists are bad guys is akin to complaining about the villain in Deadpool... THAT'S NOT THE POINT OF THE MOVIE!
This movie leaves you with a thirst for more of these characters, and some shots such as when Will Smith is stood on top of a car and gunning down henchman after henchman after henchman look like they have just been ripped out of a comic book and put on screen by the wonderfully talented David Ayer.
If you are a comic book fan, or a DC movies fan, heck even if you are just an average movie watcher... watch this movie! It is SO MUCH FUN!!!
UPDATE: Just seen the Extended Edition and I really enjoyed the new scenes. This extended version doesn't change the nature of the movie in the way the Ultimate Cut did for BvS but I found it let's the movie breathe a little and solves some of the editing problems people complained about. I still love the theatrical release but my recommendation is to watch the extended version of this movie!

@mokins 1. if you actually bothered to pick up a comic book or watch the animated series you would know why what you said about the number of killer crocs lines is incredibly ironic. 2. You disagree with my point about deadpool without paying attention to the actual point i made... which was that this baddie was simply a plot device, with the real big bad being waller... or in deadpools case, him overcoming his own personal demons. 3. Duh... the movie was from the perspective of BAD GUYS who you are supposed to become attached to... not LIKE, so their antagonist is OBVIOUSLY going to have to do something worse than them. Advising the makers of this movie to make assassins and criminals like deadshot more likable is frankly absurd to anyone who knows these characters.
Dude, don't like the movie, it's cool, you are entitled to your opinion but if you are going to criticise a review in the future, have a little think first. How about do something constructive write your own review and see how many people agree with your perspective?
Have a nice day.

@tvwatcherdenver give me Harrison Ford over most actors any day.
Grant Gustin should have been given the role of Barry. I mean, he's doing a wonderful job on the show and is a terrific actor. Why create this huge chasm between the TV and cinematic universe by casting different actors for the same character, when there's already a great Barry that everyone loves?
loading replies
@abtr because they are totally separate universes. They're not even parallel universes. It's not a multiverse thing. They are totally different studios and everything. It would be too confusing to have the same actor play the character in both completely unrelated projects.
Shout by V3RO
Why not cast Grant Gustin for the part? He is definitely the greatest Barry Allen ever, and a great young actor!
Edit 2022: OK, Ezra, move aside, it's Grant's turn!
I do not deny Ezra was good too, and that the last seasons of Flash have been week sauce (I do agree that most baddies are converted to good after a nice speech, nonetheless I'll keep watching it till the end, I'm that kind of viewer...), but Grant is an established Flash, great actor and apparently a calmer human being than Ezra at the moment. :P
Sorry, I'm team Grant! :)loading replies
@v3ro75 DC Comics/Entertainment wants to keep the film universe (the DC Extended Universe) and the tv-series universe (often called the DC CW universe or the Arrowverse) separate from each other. That means casting different actors/actresses for the same role in the DCEU than they did in the DCCW universe.
As DC’s Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns said: “It’s a separate universe than film so that the filmmakers can tell the story that’s best for film, while we explore something different in a different corner of the DC universe.”
Casting Grant Gustin for this film would've muddled the waters too much and would, on top of that, have been rather confusing, given past statements from DC about keeping the two universes separate (see the first and second paragraph).
See the DCEU and DCCW universe as two different sets of Earths (and other planets). They co-exist, but they don't know of each other's existence and can't travel to each other's universes.

Anyone else feel the movie suffered from a bit of "unfulfilled potential" in not really closing the full circle of its plot?

VIP8Despite not wanting to pull the trigger for a genuine emotional pay-off, this does have the most heart and emotion out of any Marvel movie throughout. I think people will be surprised by how dark and emo this gets, which is established straight from the opening credits. Unfortunately the rest of the movie is a bit of a mess. Adam Warlock and the villain are bland, the plot has a strong ‘we’re making it up as we go along’ feel to it, the tonal shifts and needle drops feel more jarring than cohesive and the action (despite a cool hallway fight) isn’t handled with the same care as the previous 2 (or The Suicide Squad). It’s probably the worst looking Guardians movie, however that incidentally still makes it the third best looking MCU movie. The characters and acting are the two main things that keep it watchable (especially Mantis, Drax and Nebula get a lot of time to shine here), but the entire picture feels unbalanced.

This movie is absolutely worse if you understand physics or are a student of physics. Nolan burnt hundreds of millions into this and didn't bother to consult even a high school physics teacher? Does he know what entropy is. Does he think entropy and time are same things? I understand we need to keep our brains at home when watching scifi but the plot is so convoluted and complex that I cannot forgive the stupidity of the premise. This movie is a stupid person's idea of what an intelligent movie might be.
loading replies
@harshk9 The way I see it, the usage of entropy in this movie is based on the second law of thermodynamics which states that as one goes forward in time, the net entropy of any isolated or closed system will always increase (or at least stay the same). So the people from the future want to reverse the progress of time/decrease the entropy. I don't think that is too farfetched for a sci-fi film? Or what is entropy exactly and how the film got it wrong?
