After watching two episodes of Elfego Baca with Mustangers being looked down upon, we have an episode of Texas John Slaughter, where Darryl Hickman is all excited to go mustanging.
Bones is kind of perfect as a prissy shopkeeper, and most definitely coded.
This one is pretty fascinating, learning how many feuds there were in the old west. You’d think there would’ve been plenty of space.
There’s something about the behind the scenes from these episodes that have a different feel than your typical dvd extra.
They’re really pushing hard on how terrible every male in this town is, to the point it’s almost farcical. Still scary.
Yeah it kind of is what he does, isn’t it?
Great speech from the Doctor, and it’s about time.
Jackie is really the Rose Nylund of this episode.
I’m continually amazed at seeing Sean Astin on a weekly sitcom.
It’s hard for me to imagine Ward Cleaver being so aggressive.
Fun seeing Uncle Joe in a different role. Was there really interstate trafficking of baby alligators in the US Mail?
They missed a real opportunity to play Red Red Wine.
Ooh, Tim sings in this one. Kind of.
I thought this would hold my attention more, but it seemed like a lot of back and forth on horses. Maybe it’ll grab me later.
Sean Astin has pretty much become a regular. It’s like the show keeps picking up strays.
Once again, a few episodes after the mountain lion is the villain of the piece, we make them the protagonist, if not the hero. Pretty harsh ending for a family show.
Early Bad News Bears? Disney-style, anyway.
I can’t help wondering if Kevin Corcoran was the Jake Lloyd of the late ‘50s.
It’s still a commercial, but Walt has the acting chops. Ironically, I wonder if he was a member of SAG.
Quite an interesting set of shorts with some fascinating editing to connect them all within the context of Professor Owl’s classroom.
Watching cattle drives is about as exciting as doing the drive itself.
Putting an animated map in an episode means I’m pretty much sold.
I thought I was a bit farther into the Texas John Slaughter episodes than only 5, but I guess the previous four had enough in them that I thought there were more of them.
I do enjoy the connecting bits otherwise, but wow that apostrophe is egregious.
It’s Mr Mitchell! Strange seeing him in colour!
Some real fun connecting animation that should be more readily available in high quality.
I really enjoyed it, although I have my quibbles, and I’m not sure they needed the callback to the ‘70s quite so blatantly. At least not without a flashback.
Yeah I’m just gonna say no they shouldn’t have animated those babies mouths that way. And I never need to hear Space Babies said again.
I wonder what the insignia on Walt’s tie is.
I think Walt would have been a fan of letterboxing.
